Thinkpad E530 USB 3.0 and windows 8.1 problem

Hello, I have a problem with Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and USB 3.0 speed. When I connect a USB 3.0 device I can reach only the speed of USB 2.0. In Windows 7 everything works fine. The notebook is Thinkpad E530 with Intel H77M chipset. All the drivers are installed from the Lenovo support page. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

Has we have done all the troubleshooting and still the issue persists. Hence we are having one more option to perform, let’s check on that with the last hope on the issue.
Click on start and in search type Find and fix problems with device, on Hardware and Device click on next, system will search for the issue with the system and if it finds any issue it will prompt you to Apply the fix, you can click on that and proceed further.
If the issue persists after performing above troubleshooting then I strongly suggest you to visit nearby service center for further assistance.

Lenovo Thinkpad E530 - USB 3.0 Ports Not Working Code 10

Hi everyone, so I own a Lenovo E530 with Windows 7 and just earlier today I plugged in my optical mouse into it, about 10 minutes in, Windows gave me a "not enough power message" for my USB 3.0 ports on the left side and they just stopped working. I have 3 USB 3.0 ports on the left side of the laptop, and one USB 2.0 on the right which works just fine.
From there it gave me Code 10 for Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface in the Network Adapter section (which I was able to fix via a registry change) and now what is left to fix is the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller which I cannot seem to fix. I have tried the uninstall/reinstall processes, with Intel's own drivers and Lenovo drivers which were just older version of the Intel USB 3.0 drivers, over and over yet it is still stuck on Code 10, where it will not start.
I never really overused the USB ports either, aside from plugging in a portable USB fan and portable hard drive here and there, and a USB dongle for a wireless mouse and keyboard (Logitech all-in-ones), that is pretty much all I have done with it. I do not believe the ports are not bad or anything, although it may be a hardware problem, but all 3 USB ports still give power on my fan and external HDs when I plug it in, it is just that Windows does not recognize it and nothing happens when I plug something into. But on the other hand, the USB 2.0 port reads just fine and recognizes everything. I have also tried the Troubleshooter multiple times, but everytime it tries to reinstall I get the "Failed" message.

I have tried reinstalling and uninstalling the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for W7 using the ones listed on the drivers page through Lenovo and using the newest version fround on Intel's webpage as well. Having done these I still could not get it working, so I did a full reformat of the Hard Drive, from there I am able to get the USB 2.0 and 1 of the 3 USB 3.0 ports to work (the very top one above/left of the HDMI port) and recognize devices when I plug them into Windows. But this is working through not having the USB 3.0 Driver installed and just the basic one without having any updates/drivers installed on. Once I install the USB 3.0 Driver back it, it goes back to the original problem.
The problem still persists even though I have done multiple reformats, uninstall/reinstalls, updating to newest drivers and BIOS, etc. I have owned and still own a whole family of Lenovo laptops which still work perfectly fine, but this is the first time I have seen anything like this go wrong in a laptop. Is there anything else I can try to fix this problem? The laptop just went out of warranty a few months ago, and if I were to send it in and get it repaired would it cost me a lot?

External table in Oracle 10g and Windows server 2003 problem

I'm having a problem accessing an external table in an Oracle 10g and Windows 2003 server environment. The disk is remote (mapped) to the server. It's the usual access errors, kup-04001 or kup-04063.
I have the [seemingly] exact same setup in an Oracle 9i and Windows 2000 server environment which works perfectly. Services run as local SYSTEM and SYSTEM has full permissions on the disk. Directories exist and so do the permissions to the directories.
In the Oracle 10g and Windows 2003 environment, services run as local SYSTEM and SYSTEM has full permissions on the mapped disk. Directories exist and so do the permissions to the directories.
This obviously effects mappings, deployments, etc.
Does anyone know if something changed in either the db or the os?

Your proposal is the standard solution. As a matter of fact, that's how it is on my "old" system. Server "A" Oracle services are started by SYSTEM. Server "B" Oracle services are started by SYSTEM and is where the flat files reside. SYSTEM has full permissions on a disk local to Server "B". Database directoriies defined on Server "A" point to Server "B" remote disk. External Tables on Server "A" are defined with directories that point to Server "B" remote (mapped) disk. I have no problems with this configuration.
I'm having a problem acheiving the same configuration with Oracle 10g and Windows 2003. I guess I'm baffled over the fact it isn't working the same way as my "old" environment. Why shouldn't it? Oracle (and you) want me to start services as a specific user. It shouldn't have to be that way unless something changed in the way the database makes calls to the os or if Microsoft slipped something in with one of it's numerous security patches.

Pp 2.0 and Windows 7 sound problem

I received the error "The currently installed sound card driver does not support direct sound input. Recording is not possible." I tried many of the solutions offered on forums. This is what I found worked for me. (I have an HP with realtek hd audio)
I plugged in external speakers.
In adobe I went to Edit, Preferences, Audio Hardware, selected Pp windows sound, clicked on ASIO settings. For direct sound output ports I only have speakers selected and "Yes" for sync reference. For direct sound input port I have stereo Mix selected and sync reference no. To the left I have "Direct Sound Output", "Full Duplex", and "Start Input First" selected.
In my computers control panel under sound I have "speakers" selected as my playback and "stereo mix" selected as my recording.
I hope this helps others who like me are not computer savvy.

Lexmark x5495 and windows 7 - driver problem

Hi, I have windows 7 and just got a printer - lexmark x5495
unfortunately Windows cant find the right driver 4 the printer via windows update...
I have downloaded driver for win 7 32, 64 bit, windows vista even windows xp and non of them is good!!! :(
I was looking all over google for somebody to solve that problem and nothing!
on the lexmark and windows websites it says printer is compatible but must be something wrong with driver
btw it works 100% under win xp and it is not any printer spool problem...

Could you be more specific when you mention none of the drivers is good? Is there any exclamation mark in device manager for the printer? And what makes you think the problem lies with the drivers and not the printer itself or the way you setup the drivers?
Suggest you to uninstall the printer drivers from device manager, next reboot your pc and ensure the printer is power on and plug in, next let windows 7 detect and assign drivers by itself instead of using the drivers downloaded.
If still no go after the above, run the drivers in xp or vista compatble mode under windows 7

USB Share Drive and Windows

Hooked up my USB drive and had an easy setup. Set a disk password (not users, not device - don' know what this is, maybe the router). Works fine from the Macs.
For Windows Vista, shows up in the network as the router name. If I double-click to open I get a standard authentication box. However, I can't get it to take. There is no 'user,'but using the computer logon name or others doesn't seem to work. I assume the password would be the one I set up in the Airport Utility.
Suggestions?

Thanks, using the IP address is a good tip. I'm not quite ready to map the drive, but this helps in browsing it as a test case. I set up one dummy user and was able to get in that way.
My question is still - **what's the user name if you're just using the disk password?** I was trying to just setup one disk password, yet I'm still prompted for the 'Username' and can't get by it.
I could replicate the users accounts for the drive, but that's extra maintenance to keep it sync with a network user list. I'm not sure it functions as a true 'public' drive if I do that (may keep the files separate).

'USB device malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it'

This started happening today. So I went on the Apple website to try and find a solution. I looked on all the troubleshooting advice it gave, including restarting my iPod, reinstalling iTunes, restarting my computer, I've tried everything to try and get it to connect to my computer again, but unfortunately nothing is working. Then I went to the last resort of restoring my iPod, got it into disk mode, but my computer still wouldn't recognise it so, I couldn't even restore it. My iPod is basically new, I only got it for Christmas 2010 and I'm always careful with it. I don't know if it might be something to do with the drivers needed to recognise my iPod or if it's the actual iPod, but I have no idea how to go about fixing it. Please help me!

In some cases you might have to change the Usb cable, change the usb port, check if the computer drivers and properly installed, restart the computer and relaunch itunes again to restore. i dont know if you also used this but click on this link and you might see you solution http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1567

Bootcamp and windows 8(partition problem)

I am trying to install windows 8 and until now with no sucess. The instalation by the bootcamp runs smoothly, but when I boot from the USB, start the instalation process on windows and it asks me what partition I want to install the windows, I try to choose the Partition 4: BOOTCAMP and it doesn't work. It says it's a problem because the partition is EFI and for installing windows it can't be or something like that
And if I don't press the Alt button, when the bootcamp finishes the instalation and reboot the mac, it goes to a black screen where said that I don't have any boot devices connected and to connect one and press a key.

I believe you are supposed to format the partition labeled BOOTCAMP to NTFS from the installer. It is stated in the BootCamp suport guide.

Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 DNS Problem

I have a DNS Server hosted in Windows Server 2008 R2 and our clients are using Windows 7. All are working fine then suddenly there are times that our client cannot access our internal site and cannot connect with our IM which is also hosted in the server.
Tried to ping the server's IP but got this result:
Ping request could not find host .com. Please check the name and
try again.
NSLookup works fine. Tried to use the ip address instead of the domain name and it works. Resetting network connection seems to resolve the issue but we cannot do it all the time especially when we have hundreds of computers in our office. Anyone have ideas

It seems is the client IP address conflict, it may cause by your DHCP Conflict Detection Attempts value setup is not appropriate. You can try to set Conflict Detection Attempts
to a value other than 0.

ITunes 9.2 and Windows 7 Install problem

I've posted a problem here already, but now I'm on the actual machine. I removed all the Apple software to include removing iTunes 9.1.1.12
I rebooted the machine (running Windows 7 Ultimate)
Download a fresh copy of iTunes 9.2 and it installs up to the part where it tries to start the Bonjoure (spelling) service. I get this error:

A Solution (install iTunes without Bonjour) ... aka "How to Hack the Install"
I've had exactly the same problem using my new iPhone 4 with Windows XP home. I had completely removed a previous version of iTunes and got the same error message giving a 3014 error against Bonjour part way through a fresh install of iTunes 9.2.1.5 ... After much searching on the net in desperation I took the install to the failure point again and then powered off the PC. I was curious what state this would leave the install ... I nosed around the hard disk on startup but the software wasn't there. Then I checked out the temporary folder under my user's "Documents and Settings" folder:
i.e. c:\Documents and Settings\<username>\local settings\temp and in there I found a new folder containing all of the "separate" installable ".msi" files for the different components of iTunes including a file bonjour.msi
The solution then is as follows:
a) Do the install until it fails with the "Bonjour service cannot be started" error.
b) BEFORE you rollback the install (i.e. with the error pop up still displayed) navigate to your "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\local settings\temp" folder and *make a copy* of the .msi files from the created folder (you will find a folder with a random name which is different for each install). You should have the following files (keep them together in one folder):
SetupAdmin.exe
AppleApplicationSupport.msi
AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi
AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi
Bonjour.msi
iTunes.msi
QuickTime.msi
Note that if you try and find the files after cancelling the installation they won't be there as the installer removes them as part of its clean up routine.
c) Roll back the install by cancelling.
d) Completely remove all traces of iTunes, Quicktime etc... see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926
e) Reboot
f) RENAME or DELETE the Bonjour.msi from your copied folder so that the install won't be able to find it.
g) Double click the file from your copied folder iTunes.msi - the install will then go ahead and _will not_ install Bonjour.msi as it cannot find the bonjour.msi file.
I have tried this solution and it has worked using an iPhone 4. There may be some functionality missing in iTunes but as yet I haven't found it. The main thing was to get iTunes installed from scratch so that I could actually use the phone. Since applying the solution I have done an upgrade of the iPhone software to 4.0.2 so the phone is working fine with iTunes.

Arobat Reader XI and Windows 8.1 Problems

I am having two problems whcih may be related. I can no longer update and re-save .PDF files on my computer that I previously commented on and saved. The second problem is that I can no longer delete .PDFs on on computer as I get a message stating that the file is open even when it isn't. Any suggestions?

Sound not working Notebook Envy 15 TS windows 8 and windows 8.1 - problem continues

My computer sound stopped again.

After I`ve followed David`s steps my computer`s sound started working again. But it didn`t last. The sound stopped working just one day after.
I did the procedure again, and it worked. But just for a few hours.
The second time I reinstalled the IDT codec I noticed at the device manager that there is no conflict at the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC.
Instead, the conflict appear in another item of the sound, video and game controllers topic: high definition audio device.
Is there another codec I should reinstall?
Could anyone help me?

Anyconnect secure mobility and windows 8.1 problem

I installed the anyconnect secure mobility client 3.1.05152 version on a couple o windows 8.1 workstations
on my home network.
There are no restrictions from my firewall towards the outside world.
When i try to connect for the first time i get the certificate message and the login prompt.
After successfully entering the login details the clients connects and i get a message saying that
the vpn clients is getting updated. After that nothing. If finally disconnects and when i try to re-establish
a connection i get the following message:
"The service provider in your current location is restricting access to the internet blah blah blah..."
That is not the case though. Osx vpn client from the same location connects successfully
I have tried removing rebooting, reinstalling the product always with admin rights. every single time the clients connects
the first time and ends up with the same issue.
Anyone knows what is going on?

Is there an older package present and set as the AnyConnect image on the ASA?
If you could share the tunnel-group, group-policy, and any profile (xml file) from the ASA that would assist further troubleshooting.

Lightroom 3.6 and Windows 8 hotkeys problem

Dear Adobe Support, all,
I'm experiencing strange Lightroom 3.6 problems in Windows 8 PRO. The program itself seems to be stable, but unfortunately hotkeys are not working all the time. The worst thing is that they work and then something happens and suddenly they don't. It is really anoying and I tried to re-install the program without any success. I used the Windows 7 compatibility mode, but it did not help neither.
By the way, I have experienced the same problem earlier when runing Windows 8 CP, but I thought it was only a consumer preview that caused problems.
Please help. I don't really need Lightroom 4 and do not want to upgrade.

Solved!
I found out that I use many keyboards language layouts (4). So when I'm not in English layout the hotkeys stop working.
I did not had the same problem in Win7. But nevertheless, it is nice that everything works.
I hope it can help others who may experience the same issue.
