Thinkstation P500: Disable AMT in BIOS?

The only configuration related to AMT feature locates in BIOS at Advanced-AMT Configuration.I wonder if there is any way to completely disable AMT since i need to create NIC teaming in Windows.

Hi,

Read this article how to restore the factrory settings from hdd image:

If you want to restorefrom recovery disk you should set cd/dvdrom as the 1st boot device.

I want to overclock and i want to change the multiplier to make some tests ! And i can`t do that without EIST DISABLED !
OK, stay calm.  Getting frustrated is only going to make people not reply.
I'm not sure why disabling EIST is giving you a BSOD.  I don't think anyone has any ideas since you have no real replies.
A kernel trap is hardware failure usually.  Makes me think when you disable EIST, the machine becomes unstable.   Are you setting the default multiplier for your processor?  Hell, we don't even know what it is.  How about you list your rig specs?
Just to add:  Overclocking with EIST enabled is pretty much the same.  You save power, so I don't know why you'd want to turn it off, in all honesty.

  • PCI-6023 is disabled because the BIOS did not give it an IRQ (code 29)

When I go to Control Panel>System>Device Manager and get the "Properties" for my PCI-6023E under "Device status" it says "This device is disabled because the BIOS for the device did not give it an IRQ (Interrupt Request).  (Code 29)  You must enable the device in the BIOS..." I thought I already did that.  Could someone walk me through enabling it in the BIOS to make sure I have done it already? Thanks,
    Emily

    Hi Emily,
Thank you for posting to the National Instruments
    forums.
Did this card work previously or did it just recently stop
working?  Do other PCI devices work in this
computer?  Have you tried this device on
    another computer?
This will help us figure out if this is an issue with the
card, or an issue with the BIOS setting.
Then we can figure out what to do from there.
    Thank You,

  • Portege R700 -- disabling Intel AMT in BIOS causes fan to run constantly

I recently purchased a Portege R700-1321, which shipped with BIOS 1.40.  I'm running Windows 7 Pro x64.  I have attempted to disable Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) on this machine by going into the ME BIOS (via ctrl-P at bootup), setting an admin password, and then disabling ME completely.  However, when I reboot after disabling ME, the fan starts to run at high speed and runs continually so long as the machine is powered on.  Re-enabling ME in the BIOS and rebooting again causes the fan to behave normally.
I believe this is a BIOS rather than Windows problem because upon booting the machine, the fan steps up from low to high speed over the course of about a second before the Windows startup screen appears.  Windows appears to be fine despite the continually running fan, so AFAIK this is not the freezing-up issue that has been reported for R700s, despite the similar involvement of the fan.
Is anyone else seeing a similar issue?

I noticed that when battery is charging the miniPCI temperature spikes to 50 degrees. Unplugging the AC or reaching the charging threshold causes sudden drop in the temperature. The interesting thing is that the minipci sensor is near the southbridge (near the ram) and the battery sensor itself stays stable at 30 degrees.

  • New Thinkstation P500 boot time is SLOWWWWW

Just got our P500 today and noticed the boot time really slow (roughly 1min). The machine is brand new with no additional software installed other than the OS (Win 8.1 pro), 256 GB SSD, 32 GB ram....
Is there anything we can change in the BIOS to speed up this turtle ?
Just for a reference, our ''old'' HP workstation Z800 boots up in less than 25 seconds. This is reather dissapointing. Thx

Which models of HP and Dell systems are you testing and what numbers are you getting for boot times?  Above you mention having an older HP but now mention having current model systems on-hand -- hence the curiosity.

  • Portege R600 (PPR61E) - How to disable WLAN in BIOS?

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba Portege R600, model number PPR61E with BIOS version 1.50. I want to be able to disable Wireless in the BIOS. This should be possible because the option exists on page 2 of the Bios screen under 'PCI LAN'. It is greyed out, however. I have tried enabling and disabling various options to try and get it to appear and the wireless switch is also enabled. It definately has a Wireless card in the Laptop because I can see wireless networks in windows.
I've also downloaded the latest BIOS from the Toshiba Website, version 1.80 but this does not work. It comes up with the error message, not compatible with this model of PC. I selected the correct model of machine and logged in with an account with local admin rights and ran the update from the machine.
Has anyone else had this problem? Help would be appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Martin Milner

The Wlan cannot be disabled in BIOS!
If you want you can disable the WLan card in device manager but not in the BIOS.
Furthermore youve got a Wlan switch at the notebooks side there you can enable and disable the WLan functionality!

  • T530 - Disable Optimus in BIOS (choose Discrete) -- computer will not Suspend (only Hibernate)

Found a strange power management problem today.  I disabled Optimus in the BIOS of my T530 recently, setting the video to "Discrete".  I later noticed that my computer no longer went to Sleep mode when I closed the lid, but instead Hibernated.  I double-checked the Power settings, and it was still set to Sleep on lid close.  Knowing that the only thing I had changed recently was selecting "Discrete" graphics in the BIOS, I put it back to Optimus and, lo and behold, without changing anything else, my computer resumed sleeping (pun intended) when I closed the lid.  Thanks.

  • M92p disabling wireless in BIOS

We have a requirement, for security purposes, to turn off the wireless network cards in our fleet of M92p's (model: 3238A72).
I have updated the BIOS on one machine from version 9SKT61AUS to 9SKT81AUS and Lenovo still only gives you the ability to disable onboard audio and the ethernet NIC.
Is there perhaps a function key combination at boot or a Windows utility - other than manually disabling the wireless via device manager - that will allow us to disable the wirless card?

What specifically did you disable before you did your install of Windows 7.
Some items will be turned on automatically when you install Windows, it just a matter of which ones are  instlalled and going back in and turning them off after installation

  • How to disable (not reset) bios password HP-Mini?

Is there a way to disable (not having to enter it after power on) the bios password? I KNOW the password, I can get into BIOS but I don't see an option to disable it, you can re-enter the current password and choose a new one but no delete or disabling option...??? Is there a way to disable it completly?

Got it! Was doing it wrong way leaving all spaces blank but it doesn't work because it always prompts you to enter your current password; so that's Current Password > "your current password"  hit enterNew Password > "leave blank" hit enterConfirm New Password> "leave blank" hit enter and it prompts you to "CONTINUE with save changes?" > hit enter and Password changes from <SET> to <CLEAR>; SAVE & Exit and it's done. Thank you!

  • [865PE/G Neo2 Series] How to disable Fastwrites in BIOS?

How can I do that? Since I have my new 6800Ultra people keep telling me that I have to disable Fastwrites in the BIOS of the mobo and not only in the VGA driver settings.
But I couldnt find such an option in the BIOS. Im currently using the 2.5 version. Now what?
Thanks in advance for any answers other than "there isnt such an option"!

So you guys dont have the stuttering issue in FarCry?
And I know it is caused by the gfx card or its drivers because I didnt have any stuttering with the X800XT PE. Same thing in Colin McRae04 and 05. And 99% of teh answers I got to the question "what should I do" in several hardware forums were "disable Fastwrites in your mobo BIOS".
Maybe none of them had an MSI board.

  • Thinkpad T500 Ultrabay DVD/CD-RW Drive got disabled shortly after bios screen starts

My Ultrabay DVD/CD-RW got powered off shortly after the bios message appears on the screen. My Thinkpad is out of warranty for 3 months. I can open the drive in the first 5 seconds after starting the Thinkpad. 1-2 seconds laster it is powered off by thinkpad (as far as I can see).
I've checked google and this forum. I've found nothing related. Some people have written, that there is a bios option to enable the ultrabay and they described the same behaviour, but I've checked all the bios options and there is nothing about ultrabay.
This post is very similiar, but I don't have such an option on my T500:
    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/292026-14-writer-lenovo-thinkpad-t410-working
I've bought a new dvd drive, but this shows the same behaviour. It looks like something disables the s-ata port shortly after the bios screen appears.
    Bios Version 3.22
    Embedded Controller Version 1.06
I've tried to reset the bios to setup defaults, but this didn't change anything.
This is not OS related. The drive doesn't appear in bios boot (F12), Linux, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Actually I just found it it is under security for some crazy reason. There is 18 hrs i'll never get back.

  • T500:How to disable Passwords in BIOS

    Howdy,
I entered passwords as a test e.g. Supervisor & Power-On Password etc and decided that I don't need the Power-On Password and wanted to disable it but could not find a way to do it.
    Thank you for your help.
    KC

Just enter the old password and nothing in the boxes for the new password (just press <ENTER> there). That will disable the password.

  • After overclock, EIST is really disabled even though BIOs says enabled (svet?)

I have just flashed to BIOS v1.7 with new Intel ME. Basically this is a problem I noticed even in Bios v1.4. I am overclocking i5-2500k with MSI P76A GD65 mobo
After overlocking, the cpu never idles. it's at what you overclocked to all of the time. This problem does not happen if I clear cmos and wipe all overclock settings. To verify that the cpu never idles I am using CPU-Z to monitor it. normally in idle the volt would drop to 1v and core speed to 1600mhz, but now it's at 1.264v and 4200mhz.
MSI Control centre confirms CPU Z, although the temperature in Realtemps show 31 idle at 4.2ghz lower than running prime95 at 4.2ghz (around 48c) so it means although processors are clocked and volted high they're not doing anything and is fairl cool.
Note: All I have changed to overclock is "Multiplier from 33 to 42" & " CPU Vcore from 1.20v to 1.25v" in the BIOS (did not use control centre)
If SVET could again help me out on this issues would be much appreciated.

Make sure that C1E & C-States are enabled along with EIST.  Look here, same thing: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=144798.msg1077949#msg1077949
OK I enabled C-State (No Limit) and C1E support.
Now my CPU has gone down to 1.6ghz but the voltage isn't going down. it's still set at my overclocking voltage. (do I have to set auto vcore voltage in bios? but that would mean lose the overclocking right?)
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=137321.0 they had the same problem back in May last year on the P55 boards, has the problem not been fixed even on the new P67A boards nearly a year later?
