Third-party driver/motor control

I have purchased a Zeta4 stepper motor and driver from Compumotor, and I have an old LE stepper motor and driver from the same company. My first question is: are there any PCI controller cards (indexers) that can easily run both drivers, without purchasing from Compumotor? I can easily find the codes I'll need to write to the drives, but I need some way to access both through serial ports. My other question is: are there any VI libraries that come with the card or that I can obtain that will work with LabVIEW 6.1 in order to run these and a PCI-GPIB for multi-step experimentation? I would prefer to have all of my equipment being run by LabVIEW if possible. Thanks.

What you need to look at is the type of control signals you would need to send to the drivers/ motors. NI has motion control cards that are tightly integrated with LabVIEW that will control the motion, but the drive needs to be able to take a step and direction input, or a clockwise/counter clockwise pulse. The PCI cards are 7334 for stepper only, or 7344 for both stepper and servo. If the drives can only be accessed through serial ports, then you'll have to use Compumotor's commands to actually control them.

  • Recognising a third-part driver for 'Ingres' database

    Hi,
Great product, SQL Developer. I use it a lot, recommend it to everyone.
I am trying to connect to an 'Ingres' database. I have the JDBC driver jar file. I have gone to preferences -> Database -> Third party JDBC driver -> Add Entry. From here, the dialog files the driver jar file.
I clicked 'ok' at this point, but this does not allow me to create connections. I guess I need to point SQL dev at the actual java class file with the driver. (like 'com.oracle.JdbcDriver' etc)
So I used the 'Add Entry' dialogue to look inside the jar file. But this still does not recogise the driver classes.
The driver are connection details are ok, I can use it from other tools besides SQL Developer.
    Any ideas appriciated!
    Thanks,
    JM

when having a look at the SQL Developer 3.0 data sheet it states:
With SQL Developer, users can connect to any supported Oracle Databases including Oracle Express Edition. Users can create database connections for non-Oracle databases IBM DB2 LUW, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, Sybase Adaptive Server and Teradata for object and data browsing and migration.
=> So I don't think Ingres databases can be linked from SQL Developer. Squirrel might be an alternative.

I have had Adobe XI for about two years and My harddrive just crashed. My backups were part of the failure so I can't get it back. I purchased it from a third part supplier and it was a download. I need to find out how to get it restored. I can send screen shots of all of the drive location where the drive is still good and I can see my Adobe Acrobat pro information, but the download itself is missing. NEXT STEP?

If you are talking about Reader (you did post in the Reader forum), then just download http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise. However Reader is free not purchasable. You can download a trial then install using your serial number, which if you didn’t register or write down somewhere you will be out of luck to track down.

  • Can I add a third internal hard drive?

I have a G4 Quicksilver with the original 80 G drive, and a second internal hard drive of 100 G that I added to the Drive Position 3 slot several years ago.
I would like to add a third internal hard drive (video files, backup, and all that) using Drive Position 2. I have looked all over the web without a clear answer. Is it possible to add another ATA internal drive, or must I settle for an external drive via Firewire 800?

Well, I can explain what each option will do for you, but it all depends on what you need and what you are willing to spend.
The quickest and easiest option is to use the ATA-3 bus. If you are streaming video directly to the drive and need something fast, then I wouldn't recommend this. But if you are using it as storage for video files, then this would be fine. Basically the ATA-3 bus is not high performance and will show through to be a little slower, but for storage this isn't really an issue. It depends on what you are using it for...
The next easiest option would be to buy an external firewire drive. Since you already have the firewire 800 card, you may as well get one. Firewire 800 is pretty fast, boasting an 800 mbit/sec (or 66.6 MB/s) transfer speed. It will probably seem pretty similar in speed to the internal drives. The only drawback is that it is external...some people don't care about externals, but for me, I like it all internal. No fuss. But that's up to you. I had a firewire drive for a little while, but the enclosure failed in a year so I just pulled the drive out and mounted it internally. Runs a little faster now...
The last option would be to pull one of your PCI cards and get a ATA or SATA controller card. This is the most expensive option, but would probably be the highest performer. Drives hooked up to a controller card will seem a little faster, but for the most part will be pretty similar to your main ATA bus. The bus is not the problem and has never been the problem-the drives themselves are the bottleneck. Think about it this way: A drive has a peak transfer rate of 150 MB/sec (just for illustration.), and is connected to a bus that can transfer up to 300 MB/sec. How much speed will you gain if you move the drive over to a bus that can transfer up to 9,999,999,999,999 GB/sec? Haha. None! The bottleneck is the drive transfer speed, not the bus transfer speed. So the speed gains you will get from a controller card will be minimal, unless you get faster spinning drives (7,200, 10,000 or 15,000 RPM drives). The main way a controller card allows you to speed up transfer rates is by setting up a RAID. I doubt you want or need a RAID, and can cost a lot, so I won't go into that.
Just remember that the controller card is basically overkill if all you need is one extra drive. Either hook up a drive to the ATA-3 or go with an external firewire drive since you already have the firewire 800.

  • NI UMI-7772 and third party Stepper Drives

    Dear all
Now we want to control a stepper motor with voltage ratings up to 110 V and 0.5 A at 110 V
we have the 2 Axis PCI-7342 motion controller and the NI UMI-7772 Terminal block for third party motor drives
please advice , what is the suitable third-party stepper drive that can fullfill the above ratings and compatible with the UMI-7772 ??
i have found only one link for a company called ParkerMotion (check this link : http://www.parkermotion.com/literature/pdf/aries.pdf ) but I'm not sure if it is compatible with the UMI-7772 or not
waiting your replies and thanks in advance

Almost any standard stepper or servo drive would be compatable with a UMI.  The Parker Aries you have a link to is a servo drive, not a stepper drive.  You motor ratings are unusual for a stepper motor.  What is the brand and model?  I have had good luck with Applied Motion stepper products.  www.applied-motion.com

Hi I am new to blackberry and smart phones. I have a Blackberry Curve and when I try to play games or other thing it is asking me this....

I have read this about a million times and I have no idea what it is telling me. I need help understanding this more and I am also wondering is this going to cost money to agree to it and what it is linking me too

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
The lawyers sure got ahold of that one, didn't they?!?!? All it is really saying is that, if you go to that linked site/3rd party app, RIM has no liability for whatever that linked site/3rd party app may do. When you agree, you absolve RIM of liability and agree that, no matter what, you will not seek any recourse from RIM. RIM has zero control over what that other site/app may do...anything they do is 100% between you and them, and RIM has no involvement (nor liability).

  • Z420 and third part ssd

Good Day We have some z420 workstations with 120gb SSD (factory integrated from hp). we repalced those because of disk space issues with bigger 240gb drives from third part vendor. it went well but after some weeks there were more and more troubles with the workstation. we then ran HP Vision Diagnostics which did report some errors on the SSD Firmware check. This happens to different Disks (Kingston SSD, ADATA SSD...) We then changed to a Samsung SSD and the check ran now without any errors. seems to be fine now. -> Are there any known compatiblity problems with z420 workstation and ssd drives? Have seen that hp uses micron, intel or seagate ssd drives. but normaly it should not be a problem to use other drives (at least it works fine with desktop or notebooks) thanks

Also, the to the weblogic-application.xml in both application i added
    <session-descriptor>
    <persistent-store-type>memory</persistent-store-type>
    <sharing-enabled>true</sharing-enabled>
    </session-descriptor>
    This doesn't resolve problem.

  • How can I install OSX on a new third-party hard drive in my Macbook Pro?

I'll start off by saying that I bought my MBP (Mid 2009, 13 inch) used two years ago, and the seller never thought to mention that he had installed a third party hard drive not long before selling it to me... First problem.
Anyway, the hard drive crashed. I'm installing a new hard drive, but I'm worried about getting back to having Mountain Lion. I'm confused by the process - Some say I can start by ordering a retail copy of Snow Leopard on Amazon, some say I need the OS disc that originally came with the computer (which obviously I don't have), and some make it seem as if there's a special version of Snow Leopard I need to order from the Apple store?
    Help.

There is no special version of Snow Leopard (other than what ships with a Mac of that vintage). There is a regular retail version. It is a good idea to have a copy.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After you install the new hard drive boot the computer from the OS disk, and install OS 10.6.
If you want a more recent OS, sign in to the App Store - use the same ID and password you have used here.
There you can download Yosemite, it's free.
I assume your MBP meets the requirements for Yosemite. If it does not, or if you want an earlier OS than 10.10, you should be able to find it at the App store.

  • Using third part loops in Logic : bpm changes not following by the loop

i use lots of third part loops. with other audio soft when i choose a loop and drag/drop it to my project, the loop follow every change of the project (for exemple changing the bpm). In logic, when i do so, the loop do not follow project changes such as bpm.
Someone do knows how to fix my problem ?

I just found that you can drag/drop your third part loops from the Finder window where they are to the "Media/loops library" in Logic. By this way Logic recignize your loop as apple loop. But it works for apple loop third part loop and not for wav third part loop. For those you have to transform them by the "Apple loops utility" given with Logic. It's a bit long with big loops database but it's the first way I found.
If someone know a quicky way, I'm interested

  • How to develop dll towards VB and Delphi for vi's of a third-part usb device

    Hello, dear lv'ers:
Recently i am evolved in a project where i want to reuse my developed ac measurement modules (certainly in .vi format) in target computers. The related information has been collected below:
    0) Develope machine: win7, lv2010 sp1 development suite bought last year, third-part usb devices (Rigol DG1022 for instance, recognized in MAX as USB0::0x0957::0x0407::MY44012174::INSTR), ac measurement vi's with VISA function calling.
    1) Target computer A: MultiVu for squid vsm from QD(quantum design) bought in 2009, allowing third-part extension script written in visual basic .bas format. MAX was installed by QD, but our third-part usb devices could unfortunately not be recognized and assigned a visa resource name.
    2) Target computer B: MultiVu for squid-xl from QD bought 2007, allowing third-part extension script writen in Delphi .dpr format. Its MAX has the same problem.
i have got familiar with extending such two MultiVu's for dc measurement based on Keithley 2400 & 2182, successfully using VB and Delphi, respectively.  Such dc module has nothing to do with labview and has already installed with GPIB interface in MAX.
i have already overviewed some related posts here for dll building for VB and Delphi, and i could build my hellow-world dll for vb(simply following reversstring one in ni knowledgebase). However, at the moment, my main concerning is how to build dll's installation package for our two target computers, so that they can use the third-part usb devices as in my development machine?
Your answers, direct or indirectly, would be quite appreciated.
    Faithfully

Probably, i have just got a solution for this problem.
The way seems  quite simple: what i need to do, before importing dll or exe files, is installing a VISA  4.0 (http://download.ni.com/support/softlib/visa/NI-VISA/4.0/win32/visa400full.exe) in target computers, which can communicate fine with our devices.
Afterwards, you know, everthing goes ok as does in the development computer.
When i got further problems, i shall return here. :-).

Make sure you have the latest iTunes version installed and hopefully you have the most recent backup of your iPhone.  Do a DFU restore.  While it's plugged in to your computer, press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons together until the screen is off.  When the screen's off, release only the Sleep/Wake button and keep holding down the Home button.  Wait until you see in iTunes on your computer to show that it detected it in recovery mode.  When it does, proceed with the restore.  It will be restored and updated to the latest iOS 7.0.2.  If you have a backup, restore from that backup once iOS 7.0.2 is successfully installed on your iPhone.
If your iPhone still won't activate, I agree with gail, you will have to get in touch with that developer.

  • How do I handle a count overflow while running "end's" rotation drive in position control?

    Hi everyone!
We run a direct drive in position control mode and normally do oscillating movements i.e. +-10°. The Signal we get is a TTL with 120 counts/°. And with those counts we do our control.
But now we want to run the motor permanent one direction for some days (or 4 ever :-). That means that we get sooner or later a overflow on the count variable. So I think we have a problem when the setpoint is on Overflow -32767 and the Position is 32767. ( I know that I can increase the Integer Value but that does not solve it at the end :-)
    How can I handle that?
    Is there any programmatic approach?
    Thanks for Help!

    Hi Petric,
I do see the math but that does not help when I have more then one overflow, right?
Well, you have to make sure you NEVER miss such an overflow event. It would be a big problem if you would detect just every second overflow…
I got a big issue when the setpoint is jumping due to overflow! I have to handle that primarly.
Have your control loop work with arbitrary units.
Convert your measurement signal to arbitrary unit with handling overflows in this step.
Convert your control output to output signal handling overflows as well…

  • Where to add Third Party JDBC Driver in SQL Developer 4.1 EA2

In SQL Developer 4.0.3 under Tools - Preferences - Database there was an option to add a  Third Party JDBC Driver so we could use the same tool for a PostgresSQL database.  I cannot find in in SQL Developer 4.1.0.18

I think it happened because I imported settings and connections from a previous installation.
    I removed the C:\Users\username\appdata\SQL Developer\system4.1.0.18.37\ folder.
I've run it now without that and the option is back.
    Thanks!

  • Preventing third parties from using the TouchUp Text Tool on generated documents

While perusing the options of Adobe Acrobat at work I had the good fortune of finding the TouchUp Text Tool. Now I am trying find a relatively simple solution in order prevent third parties from using this same tool to easily modify pdfs we create from Mac Word 2011. My research has come up with applying a password/certificate/security policy but I have been unable to figure out how to apply one of these solutions automatically to all newly generated documents.
Is there a way to automatically apply a password/certificate/security policy on every pdf that is converted from Word 2011? Preferably one that does not involve additional investment in software. Or another similar work around.
    Thank you in advance!

Please try to re print the document using Adobe PDF printer and make sure you embed the fonts during the conversion to new file.
Can you also upload few sample files for further investigation ?
