I'm getting a long date variable from my database. I want to only pull the first 10 letters from the database. How do I do that? I know in ASP it's Left(string, 10) but what is it in Java.. I'm just learning. :)

Welcome to the all volunteer Captivate forum. Several options.
- Add <Back and Next> buttons on each slide manually
- Place click boxes on the screen. This is a neat way to do it because the click box can be the entire screen with a 100% transparency. However, users must know to click the screen to advance and then there is no <Back or rewind type option
- Correct interactions can be added with click boxes. Use Captions to ask the user to do something and when they click the right place, the series advances.

This is an easy one: One Apple TV with two Account (MusicMatch and PhotoStream)
Hi,
How can I setup Apple TV with my iTunes Account (for music, movies, etc) and a different iCloud account for Photostream. This is easy in IOS and OS devices, but I could not figure this out on Apple TV. Apple TV configuration takes the iTunes account and uses it as the default for music match and Photostream, can this be different?
If not how can I merge the two with least hassle.
Thanks.That isn't correct, when you go to setup photo stream, it asks you if you wish to use the account associated with the iTunes store, or use a different one.

16 x9 viewer: I think this is an easy one?
I'm working on an independent (super low budget) feature length documentary but am new to Final Cut after having been an AVID editor for a PBS station for the last 8 years.
I opened the software for the first time and my viewer windows are in 4 x 3 aspect ratio - I looked for the simple setting change that will change it to 16 x 9 but am not able to locate it. I know it's gotta be there somewhere.
Thanks!You need to set up FCP using an easy set up that you elect when you first open the app.
That would likely be the 1080i/60 HDV set up.
You can change this by hitting command-I and clicking on the easy set up button and getting the right one.

You could try defining a system property using the -D option on the java command line and then from within your application use System.getProperty().
Assuming running on unix and want to print the CLASSPATH environment variable
java -Dpath=$CLASSPATH <application name>
and then in the application
String path = System.getProperty("path") -

After many years of heavy hinting I have today been presented with a MacBook by my husband - all our iTunes is on our main PC but I have authorised the MacBook for my account and have sight of the shared home library.
My main problem is that the home library does not split by Music, Audiobooks, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts etc and is just one single source. I have tried dropping items into the relevant categories to no avail. Can anyone assist with how to achieve a nice tidy library please.Again, I am confused by terminology. In the Finder environment iTunes (PC or Mac) "library" means a single file (well two similar ones) called "itunes library". So I am not sure what you mean by libraries plural. Again, do you mean these are in different folders, or are all jumbled together? In the itunes window iteslf there are libraries split up by main file type (music, movies, audiobooks). Then there are playlists which can be basically what you want. The itunes windows libraries are determined by itunes based upon the kind of file which is distinguished by the file type. You can't place an audiobook in a music library. What you can do is move various things into the Playlists which you create.

Getting redirect to work -- easy one?
Hopefully this is an easy one for someone to answer -- I'm simply trying to set up an action-mapping that performs a redirect instead of a forward. If I use the following xml in struts-config.xml (I'm using struts-faces), then everything "works":

I get an error if I change the forward to be a redirect, however, as in:

The error I get is:

I recently bought a new i phone 4 as my other one had seen beter days and for the last sevral days have been trying to transfer my photos ect from my old phone to my new one after I've plugged my old iPhone into iTunes to back it up i then plug in my one to transfer it over I've had no luck I've tryed restoring my new phone to the last time i backed up my old files the phone restores but always to its own backup point wen i first connected it to iTunes can anyone help me please?
Since this is the second computer you've had this problem with, I recommend you look for answers on the iPhone forum. My thinking is it is an iPhone issue rather than a computer issue (unless it is some software incompatibility).

I bought a Christmas video on my Apple TV in my bedroom for my kids to watch. I tried to download it to our computer in the living room, but I got a terribly inconvenient message that says I have to wait 30 days before downloading it, because my husband downloaded something with his account-REALLY?!

It may well be a measure to deter piracy by stopping a group of people from going around to a friend's computer and downloading purchases on the other person's computer. It is easy to avoid by making sure you have backup copies on drives at home so you never need to redownload anything.

This should be easy! How can I change the background colour of my fields?
Apologies if this has already been posted but nothing has come up via Google nor the Forum search.
I'm sure this should be easy but it's really doing my head in!
I have a number of textboxes, dropdown lists, etc within my form - I have set Custom backgrounds on each which are visible within Design View. However, in Preview PDF all the fields have a default blue colour and only change to my Custom backgrounds when you enter the field.
Is there a way of removing the default colouring of fields so that it's the same as my Custom backgrounds? My Custom backgrounds are 'linear to bottom' so I don't want to just set border.fill.color to one colour.

If you include this Javascript in the docReady event of the root node (default "form1").

This will turn off the field highlight. It doesn't prevent the user from turning back on the highlight, but it will mean that your form opens with the highlight off.

Hi, After I try to load either an existing or new project in Adobe Premier Elements 9 I just get a blank grey screen with none of the timeline, etc. boxes on view. This has suddenly happened, one day OK next not! At the top of the screen I get the normal Pre icon, File, Edit, Clip, etc.
I am planning on purchasing Premier Elements 13, would it be better if I bought a new program rather than download an upgrade, just in case the upgrade doesn't load properly due to the error with my existing program?
If I the deleted Premier Elements 9 on my PC would I lose all my existing videos that were produced using Premier Elements 9 or would they be saved so that they can still be worked on in Premier Elements 13?
Does Premier Elements 13 work with Windows 7?

In fact, I'd highly recommend you download the free trial and give it a test run.
Meantime, go to Windows Update and make sure you have all of the latest Windows updates, including those that don't install automatically. Then go to the nVidia or ATI site and ensure you have the latest driver for your graphics card, and go to Apple.com and ensure you have the latest version of Quicktime, per the program's requirements.
