Thrive

For some unknown reason, my tablet is stuck in landscape mode. I have literally checked every thing. It should change when I set it in portrait but doesn't. Can anyone help?

First, and you've probably done this, ensure the screen rotation isn't locked in the quick settings. Also, try turning it off fully (holding the power button down until prompted) and then turning it back on.

  • Can anyone PLEASE tell me if I can download itunes to a tablet other than ipad (Toshiba Thrive)

Can anyone PLEASE tell me if I can download itunes to my Toshiba Thrive & if so what version to use?

iTunes is available for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X - nothing else, including Android.
The version of iTunes pre-installed on an iPad is a store-front for the iTunes Store, and cannot be installed on anything else.

You should be able to find Firefox by searching for it in the Android market on the device.

  • Toshiba Thrive Tablet Broken Headphone Jack Fix For Audio Line Out

BROKEN HEADPHONE JACK SIMPLE FIX FOR TOSHIBA THRIVE TABLET:
I love my Toshiba Thrive tablet. I take it with me everywhere I go, nearly every day. I also enjoyed connecting the headphone output jack on the side to an external set of speakers. I would enjoy stereo internet, video watching and so on. I recently broke (cracked) the headphone jack on accident. For months, I heard only through the small, factory installed speakers which, is not quite what I'd call 'ideal stereo.' Has anyone else done this? Despite trying to find repair shops locally, no one will touch a tablet it seems for repair or replacement parts. It's not your usual headphone jack. But - I can tell you how to get your sound back!
    THE QUICK FIX
While browsing the internet, I found a device that by-passes the headphone jack and instead uses the internal workings of the Thrive tablet's main connection port. This port is located at the base of the unit. It will be covered by a protective, plastic tab that is removeable. Simply pry a little. This long narrow port was designed to allow you to set the entire Thrive tablet into a docking station designed for it. In this docking station are various connection pins that allow the audio to be sent out of the tablet and into the docking station. At the rear of the docking station you'll find a host of connection types:  1) audio out jack/headphone 2) USB 3) HDMI 4) 110v power supply. Simply plug your speakers or headphone cable into the new docking station and you're done! Your audio will work again. I purchased my docking station for $6.00 on Ebay.  Oddly, the unit doesn't charge very well if at all while in the docking station but I've read you can simply remove the cover from your Thrive, remove the battery physically for a few minutes, return it to it's rightful place then close the cover and this fixes the problem. It's a strange little glitche. I have yet to try this yet. I did find that if I plug the cord directly into the Thrive right side as designed, it will recharge the battery as usual. I ordered a few of these docking stations which allow me to simply set the pad down depending on where I am and it will continue to charge. The docks do not come with power outlet so you'll need to consider buying additional but it works wonderfully. There are now even wireless docking stations too!

  • How To Transfer music files from a usb flash drive onto my thrive

I have some music taken from my pc onto a usb flash drive.  I can play it on the thrive but want to permanently transfer it onto the thrive so I can play it without using the usb  flash drive.
    Cananyone help me?
    Thanks

One way that I did it was to download a movie onto my laptop. Once I did that, I copied it onto an SD card. Inserted the card into my Thrive and dowloaded it from there. Or as others have mentioned, keep the movie on the SD card so that you'll have more memory on your Thrive. I went on YouTube to see how to copy from the SD to the Thrive. It's pretty easy.

  • Won't install on Toshiba Thrive. Mozilla says it's compatible, but the Play store says it's not. It installed on my phone, but won't on the Thrive.

I checked the supported devices list on the Mozilla site, and they list the Toshiba Thrive as compatible with the new android browser. However, when I attempt to download it, the Play Store says the Thrive is not compatible and refuses to show me the app to download and install. Can anyone explain what's going on here? Thanks.

Unfortunately, it sounds like it requires servicing.

Updated my AT105 last night. Sat with it during the process and eveything seemed to work fine. Downloaded local newspaper like I do every morning and off to work it went. At work, I sync my documents with Docs to Go. Here is where my problems start.Apparently the upgrade broke my docs to go licence link as the desktop app states I need to upgrade to v3.0 and buy the licence. I'm already at v3.0 and have the valid licence that worked all the way up to today. I also noticed that today when I view my device on my computer, the tree now shows my SD card and any USB memory as a separate device. OK I guess. What is not OK is the internal storage of my TT is now displayed with two identically named folders for every folder on my device. Only difference is each and every duplicate shows it was last modified exactly 1 hour before the original and the files in the duplicate cannot be accessed. I have also noticed that the content between the duplicate and the original is for the most part identical. Some folders are not identical. This is only showing up on my desktop, not on my TT. This is the first upgrade I've had a problem with. I'd like the folder issue cleared up.

  • The Dolphin Browser is compatible with the Toshiba Thrive (I can see video). Why can't Firefox provide the same?

The Toshiba Thrive is not listed on your site as a compatible device. I have installed Firefox on my Thrive. I love the inteface. But, the lack of a flash plugin is a deal breaker. If Dolphïn and Opera and Maxthon can provide it, why can't FF?

Flash on Android is not the same as Flash on Windows or OS X. Adobe and Google have both radically changed how browsers and plugins interact. Without documentation about these changes the Firefox developers need to try and make educated guesses about what Adobe and Google designed. This is a slow and hard process.
Most browser are only a skin over the Android stock browser. Thus they get Flash support for free. Getting Flash working on a non-stock browser is a lot more work. Firefox 10 will provide very limited support for Flash in 2.2 and 2.3 devices.
Work is ongoing on getting Flash working on Honeycomb devices.

  • Has anyone gotten PDAnet for tablet working on the Thrive?

I have been trying to get my thrive to connect to my phone through Bluetooth and PDAnet tablet. It connects for about 5 seconds and then disconnects. Has anyone else had luck with this?

I too just discovered a Permium Messaging charge on my husbands line. It had something to do with Facebook, MySpace & Twitter updates. My husband doesn't use any of these social websites! Customer servce was kind enough to remove the charge & give me a number to text so we could opt-out. A block for Premium Messaging has been put on both our lines!
I'm so glad to hear that others have been able to have these charges removed as well.
Thanks Verizon for the great customer service!!

  • Transferring Thrive drive from one tablet to another (I cracked the screen)

After about 2 years of having a great condition used Thrive, I have cracked the screen in multiple places though touchscreen actions seem to still work well. It has a 32GB drive. How hard would it be to take that out and place it in another Thrive? Was thinking about trying to buy a 8 or 16GB model then swapping the drives. If it is possible, could I then take the smaller drive and use it in some external case? Thanks, James

There is some information on how to, plus some tool lists in the online iFixit guides for repair and replacement of parts, in these computers.

  • TS3212 i have a toshiba thrive and want to put itunes on it, is that possible and how?

how do i get itunes on my toshiba thrive?

I gather that the Toshiba Thrive is an Android device. There is no version of iTunes for the Android operating system and therefore you cannot install iTunes onto the Thrive.
Note: you have posted in the iTunes For Windows discussions. There is a discussions forum for iTunes for Mac. Did you not notice that there isn't one for Android?

  • Toshiba Thrive tablet connects to Linksys E1000, but can't browse internet

HELP!  I bought my wife a Toshiba Thrive 16GB tablet for Christmas and have spent 3 hours being bounced back and forth between Toshiba and Cisco support!
I have a wireless network with a Linksys E1000 router.  I'm using WPA2 Personal security, MAC filtering is turned off, and all other settings are basically default.  I have updated it to the latest firmware version (2.1.02).  I have 2 laptops, a wireless access point for my DirecTV DVR and WII (with a switch in-between) and an Apple IPhone 4.  All of these devices have NO problem connecting wirelessly to the router and browsing the Internet.
I set the tablet up, connected to my network (checked the password and security settings 6 times).  The tablet shows that it is connected to my local network.  However, when I try to access the Internet, it hangs.  Fortunately, there is some idiot in the neighborhood who has an unsecured network.  I connected the tablet to that network and VOILA! I was able to browse, download the latest updates for the tablet, etc.
So, I thought, OK, let's disable all security on my router, so I set the wireless security to "disabled".  Saved, and restarted.  The tablet STILL won't browse the internet!
I'm tired of being tossed back and forth with techs who are clueless.  Has anyone had any problem similar to this with an Android-based device?
I would think that if the tablet is accepted with its credentials that it would allow internet access!  One final thing that I tried was turning on MAC filtering and allowing access using the MAC address and that still didn't work.
When I look at the details of the connection on the tablet, it shows a strong signal, the SSID name, and the IP address that it was assigned by DHCP.  I hope that someone can help, otherwise I'll have to go back to Best Buy and exchange it for some other tablet.  I purposely bought this one over the IPad2 because the battery can be swapped out for a freshly charged one and the memory can be upgraded to add up to 128GB with a SD memory card.
Any help is appreciated as I have torn out the few remaining hairs on my head! <LOL>
    MIACLOCKMAN

I'm replying to my own posting as I have solved the problem and wanted to post it in case anyone else has the same problem.  I would venture to say that upcoming updates to the Android system may solve this problem.
For some reason, when the Thrive is set for DHCP ip addressing, it is not going out to the internet.  So, I changed the network profile to manual with a static IP address.  I also input the router address and DNS addresses with the router's IP address.  As soon as I saved the changes it was magic.  The tablet connected and internet speed was lightning fast.
So, anyone having problems, give this a try as you'll not get anywhere with Cisco or Toshiba support.
