Tilt problem

i've read mostly all of the tilt problem topics and they all have the opposite problem that i have...
my new itouch 4 all of a sudden tilts w/o warning...
what i mean is.. when the itouch itself is stationed as portrait...
the screen just goes landscape...
gahhhh~~!!!
when its supposed to be portrait the itouch just goes to landscape RIGHT AWAY...
when i go online, turn on music (i cant get out of all the album covers...), facebook (i dont like to look at it landscape...), facetime (this is extremly annoying...), camera, messenger, games(like sky burger...).....almost everything that has the option of being used portrait or landscape ....
just automatically goes landscape...
i could just lock the lock the portrait orientation and make the landscape go away.... but...
isint there another way????
i think there's something wrong with the... thing in the inside...
please help me
thanks~! ^^

  • TIlting problems. Please advice.

Hi i just got my iPhone 6 hours ago.
Everything was fine until i started to play games which uses tilt (e.g NFSU, DoodleJump).
For NFSU, my car turns left with my iPhone horizontal.
For Doodle, the character just jumps to the left crazily.
Basically, I have to tilt my iPhone to the right about 45 degrees just to offset.
Anybody can advice me what is happening and what i can do?

The law here in Portugal is that thet have 30 days to repair the device, if they pass 30 days they have to give a new device or the money, this is for all electronics here.
Well but anyway i was contacted today and my iPhone was ready!!! They replaced it with a new one. This is perfect! Loving it! Thank you!
Bought case Speck Candyshell in white cool one! Very pleased!

  • Is it true there is no tilt in week 38 and newer nanos?

Hopefully I will have my last discussion with Apple about this tomorrow, after the local Consumer Affairs agency finishes talking with the Apple Customer Representative.
She is trying to get me either yet another replacement nano 3g (it will be my 4th) or a refund for my tilted LCD one.
One question I have is this:
I have heard people in these forums say the tilted screen problem was fixed by week 38. The nanos I've gotten so far, with the tilted screen problems, have all been week 35 and 36, so I have no basis for comparison.
Among people who have seen the tilt problem, have any of you seen this problem with week 38?
The Apple guy says he can't guarantee that I would be sent a week 38 one or newer, but the Consumer Affairs agency woman says she thinks that is not reasonable and that she can at least make them provide one of the later ones if they have fixed the problem.
So what I want to know is whether it is worth pressing the issue on that point. I would press the point if I knew for sure that the problem was resolved by week 38.
    Does anybody know?
    Thanks,
    doug

You may find this MacNN article of interest when conferring with Apple and your local Consumer Affairs agency.
    http://www.macnn.com/reviews/apple-ipod-nano---third-generation.html
Paragraph 6 would indicate that Apple is aware of problems with some earlier models having tilted screens and states "The company has said it would replace the affected models."
Perhaps you could email the author through the link on the page and get more detail on that statement.
That seems to be a far different response than the "it is within spec" some folks seem to be getting from local retail stores.

  • Overall...is it good?

I have heard some pretty bad stuff, even on these forums, about the nano. Sound cutting off, machine turns off, videos don't play, videos don't sync ect.
Are people experiencing these problems, ALL of them, on the same ipod? or are there just a bunch of bugs with them?
Please tell me what you think, before I sell my 1st gen nano and buy a new one.

If they would fix the tilt problem I would be satisfied. I assume that software fixes will come out for the calendar and other bugs mentioned. The tilt is the only thing that stops me from saying "go out and get one!" at the moment.
    doug
I am in 100% agreement with Doug. The screen tilt is the one flaw that can not be fixed through firmware updates. If you get one with a level display the remaining annoyances should be worked out in a patch or two I would think.
I think the potential is there for it to be a very nice unit. Swap it out if you get a tilted display.
It may sound corny to do, but if you can bring a bright flashlight with you when shopping you should be able to shine it in and examine the display borders while it is still in the plastic case prior to purchase. Make them keep pulling them out until you are as satisfied as you can be that it looks straight and hope for the best

  • Problem with tilt shift effect

I have the latest version of Elements 12 and have just started to experiment with the Tilt-Shift Guided Effect.   The problem I'm having is that when I try to change the area of focus, nothing much seems to change in the picture.   Sometimes it seems like the original in-focus area stays in place and I can make small changes elsewhere in the picture.
I was wondering if anyone else was having a problem with Tilt-Shift?
    thanks.

I think I verified what I was seeing in Guided Mode by going to Expert Mode after trying to alter the focus area.   In expert mode I found a mask for the blur layer - and what I saw were 2 gradients rather than just one.   One of the gradients in the mask was where Elements put the default in-focus area, and the second gradient in the mask was where I tried to move the in-focus area to.   I was expecting to find one gradient on the mask, but instead there were two.  Are others observing this same behavior?  Thanks.

  • The screen on my Macbook goes blank, if I tilt the screen it returns. Problem getting worse.

The screen on my Macbook goes blank, if I tilt the screen it returns. Problem getting worse. Should I take it to the apple store and see if they can replace the screen? is it expensive to replace the backlight/invertor?

This sounds to me like a fairly common Inverter Fault.
It is not the screen that needs replacing by the sounds of it,
It sounds like either the inverter board or the inverter cable needs replacing.
My understanding is that inverter / inverter cable repairs aren't too expensive, but not too cheap!
Obviously your best way to find out how much it would cost to be repaired would be to take it in to an Apple Store, as I have never had to have one replaced myself, but the information I'm providing, is based on what I've read elsewhere.
    How old is the MacBook?
    Thanks,
    Ollie.

  • Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q720 Screen Problem when Tilting

    Toshiba Laptop Qosmio X505-Q720
    Please, help !
The screen goes blank at certain (more than 90deg) angles of the screen with respect to the base of my laptop.
The Web Camera is also not working.
    An external monitor works perfectly.
I assume some connecting cables are loose behind the screen.
Can I fix this issue myself ?

Good job on the diagnosis. Sounds like either a loose cable or the cable is damaged and loses the connection once you tilt the screen too far. My recommendation would be to take it into a Toshiba authorized repair center and get it serviced. A couple reasons, they have the Maintenance Manuals and know how to service the computer and two, they can order the right parts if needed. The reasons for not servicing this yourself is that the LCD screen is an expensive part to replace and these laptops with their small parts can be a problem to work on.

  • Application (Full Tilt/ical) Problems.

I had an installation error the other day and lost much of my information. I did a full recover and got most of it back. I reinstalled OS X on my system fresh, and then started pulling in the prefs from the archived version of my previous system.
Now my Full Tilt Poker application will not load any of the Image. However, it works just fine on a test user account. I have completely erased all prefs for the application and reinstalled it from the internet and still nothing. What could be the issue?
Also, my Ical will not even open!? What could be the problem here.
Any help would be much appreciated!?

You could try the following things I am not sure if they will do much but it may help:
    PRAM Reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    Disk Utility
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672
If these don't then remove your preferences folder to the desktop and restart. Open the application and see if it works. If it does then the next step if long winded but drag each preference in and see which one effects the application.

  • Problem with tilt of 30" Cinema Display

I have an Apple Cinema Display 30" which works just fine and I had it just slightly tilted up but I had to move it back and now it's stuck and I can't move it back to that slightly frontward tilt. I notice there is a little screw-- I just had the display fixed by Apple [the inside lights were fixed] and don't want to hassle taking it back to Apple store or sending it out....does anyone know if it would be a fairly simple thing to unscrew that and move the display or is there something there that I should be concerned about?

Being HDMI it should really only offer options that are supported by your connection and the issue of a mismatched output shouldn't occur, however since your monitor isn't really HDMI I can't be sure what will happen.
When using component the tv offers all resolutions supported by itself regardless of whether the tv supports them and of course when they don't match the tv is blank. I think it may be possible that this is what happens when HDMI is connected to DVI. I really can't be sure but I think this is worth testing for.
In component mode if you select a video mode that isn't supported the screen will go blank and if you leave it a while the tv will reset to the last output you were using.
When you change video mode it can take a few moments for the change to take effect, so don't be too impatient when cycling through the options.
Finally, just a thought, your gender changer does support DVI-D/DVI-I and not just DVI-A doesn't it.

  • Problems with screen tilting and zooming

I've been using my touch for web browsing quite a bit.
One persistently annoying problem I keep having is switching between the touch and other devices. The problem is not unique to any platform. It happens on my iMac at home and the XP laptop at work.
Whenever I browse an web page on my touch I do things like:
    - double tap to zoom text to just the right size
    - flip the device back and forth between horizontal and vertical to make whatever content I'm looking at fit the screen better.
Overall, I'm very pleased with web viewing on the touch, but whenever I view web content on my iMac or PC, I keep having issues:
    - double tapping on the screen doesn't work. I usually remember that it isn't a touch screen and use the mouse, but double clicking ona web page never does anything but select text or open a new page.
    - flipping the iMac or XP laptop on its side doesn't seem to have any effect on things inside the machine, but frequently has disruptive effects on the surroundings. The XP laptop has so many cables plugged in that when I grab the screen & rotate I inevitablly disconnect something or yank the speakers off the desk. It just plain doesn't work on the iMac as there really isn't any room on my desk. I think I'll go check Ikea's web site for firmware updates on the desk.
It just seems like the iMac and PC aren't working in a natural way like the touch. I have noticed it usually happens right after I'm using my touch. Maybe I should update the firmware on the iMac or PC? Has anyone had the 1.1.2 update show up for their iMac or PC? (or desk?)
Is anyone else having these issues?

Hi and welcome to the discussions!
I agree with Barbara. That is unacceptable.
Did they have you try to create a new user account or perform an archive and install? If the problem happens in all apps, or when just the Finder is open, it is either an OS issue, or more likely a hardware problem such as bad video on the midplane. An archive and install or creating a new users account can help eliminate software as a possibility and are two of the steps that Apple almost always suggests when their is odd behavior similar to what you describe.
Also, try shutting down and unplugging all cables fromyour iMac - including the wall - for 15 minutes. Then plug in the power cord while simultaneously pressing and holding the power button on the back of the computer. Let go of the power button and press the power button once more to start up your iMac. That would reset the SMU.
Another thing to try before calling them again is to reset the PRAM.
    - Shut down the computer.
    - Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    - Turn on the computer.
    - Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    - Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    - Release the keys.
Your computer's PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. it might reset date and time settings, but that is not fatal.
I honestly do not think that any of what I suggest will make a difference, but it will eliminate a great number of possibilities. I think it is either a bad backlight or bad video, but that is just a guess.
Give those a shot and call Apple back. Then you can tell them what you have done and they will probably recommend that you take it in to an Apple repair center for further diagnostics.

  • Photo Booth head tilted effects problem

If you go on photo booth, go to chimpmunk effect or something, tilt your head, the effect won't work why is this

Well, the effects windows are like 9 per page, so the computer is doing a lot of work. My Core Duo hits like 60%+ CPU usage. I wouldn't say I have a 2 second delay, thats a little long, but it itsn't realtime smooth either. Max the RAM is all I can suggest. Thats an intensive program to try and render 9 windows with different filters in realtime.
Thats just the reality of PhotoBooth and a single core CPU. You can get another 1GB in that puppy, I'd suggest you get some more.

  • HP Pavilion a6110n Startup Problems, Fan Runs Full Tilt and then Shuts Down

We are currently running into an issue where our computer, when we try to power it on, turns on briefly with the fan running at full tilt.  After a few seconds, the computer then shuts down and everything turns off.  When the monitor is connected, we never do see anything show up there.  We opened up the case and cleaned out the fan and the cooling unit completely, and then we even completely removed and then reconnected the unit.  Still, the computer continues to do the same thing.  Does this sound like a bad sensor?  Like the computer thinks it is overheating and just shuts itself down?
Thanks for any help.  We tried some of the advice we found on here, like stated above, and seem to have run out of options.

    Hi Big_Mike_180,
It is the same for the desktop or notebook. The one blink means that you are having an issue with the CPU, unfortunately. At this point if you are in warranty give HP Total Care a call at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or visit the link below if you are outside North America.

  • Tilting, Volume Buttons and Sound Effects icon problem.

Every time I tilt my iPad while using it on a flat surface the volume button is contacted and the Sound Effects icon appears.  This is a very poor design in my opinion.  It drives me crazy!!  Any workarounds?

knothead997cdp - I know that with the iPhone, they say there is an app for everything, but causing you headaches isn't one of them! Judging from the multiple issues you are describing, the master reset is definitely the best course of action to take. You may always stop by at your closest Apple Store for a second opinion. In all honesty, it just sounds like the update went corrupt somewhere. Starting clean should take care of it!

  • Problems performing offset null and shunt calibration in NI PXI-4220

I am using a 350 ohm strain gage for the measurements, i have already create a task in MAX, when i want to perform offset null in the task, the program shows a waiting bar and the leds in the 4220 board start to tilting, but when the waiting bar stops, MAX gets blocked. it has been impossible to me to perform the offset null, what can i try?.
which will be the correct values for the parameters beside the gage parameters for the strain measures?

    Hello,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
Usually when this problem occurs, it is do to incorrect task configuration or incorrectly matched quarter bridge completion resistor. Ensure that you have the correct Strain Configuration chosen. The default is Full Bridge I. If you only have a single strain gauge in your configuration, you will need to change your configuration. Also ensure that if your are using a quarter bridge completion resistor make sure that it is 350Ohm not 120Ohm. If the resistor if 120Ohm you will more thank likely not be able to null your bridge.
Please see the PXI-4220 User Manual for more information about your configuration and signal connections: http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/F93CCA9A0B4BA19B86256D60

Also, you can download and install the latest NI-DAQ 7.2 driver: http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearch/50F76C287F531AA786256E7500634BE3?opendocument&node=132070_US
