Time addition

Question

hi I would like to know how to add time in java.
I have a current date adn time in a date variable.
the duration for an event is given and I have to add the duration to the current date .
is there any built in method to achieve this

I'm not defining the date constructor, I'm writing a method which uses the existing date constructor taking a long value as an illustration. ie:
Figure out the duration you want in seconds, for example 60:
Date knownDate = new Date();
Date intervalDate = new Date( knownDate.getTime() + ( 60 * 1000 ) );But as I say, you should really be using the Calendar class for this, which provides methods for altering the time set:
