Time based animation effects

I'm adding effects to images on a slide.  Entrance effects.  Yet the one image disappears after the 3 seconds.  The text box goes back to its initial size before the zoom.  How do I get them to stay at the position they are at at the end of the time-based animation effect?  Thanks in advance!
Joy

Check the timing of the effect in the Effects panel.  Most likely you don't have the effect timing set correctly there so that it remains in effect for the duration that the image is on screen.
Perhaps you can post a screenshot of your main timeline showing the image in question, and the same image's Effects timeline?

  • Tick vs. time -based animation

Hi. I'm a bit of a newbie and I was wondering if I could get some information/opinions on animation techniques. I've seen a few mentions (one very recently by Abuse) of tick-based animation being inferior to time-based animation. I'm pretty sure I get the two concepts -- I assume it's just a matter of defining when the environment is automatically updated.
On the one hand (tick-based) keep a tick count and after x ticks go by, move your elements.
On the other hand (time-based), update the environment, repaint (I assume this would have to be via active rendering) and then figure out how long to sleep until update/render next time, i.e. (SLEEP - timeThisCycleTook).
My first question is: Am I correct? :-) If not, please enlighten me on the two approaches.
My next question is: why is time-based so much better? It seems to me it would allow the frame rate to be more stable, though would the frames be drawn at more predictable intervals with tick-based?
Any information that would un-confuse me would be greatly appreciated! :)
    -Eric

hehe, I love spawning contraversial topics :D
Your understanding of tick based V's time based appears to be correct - as for the advantages between the 2 - thats abit of a contraversial area.
Both techniques are useful, depending on the circumstances...
    tick based
    advantages:-
    *easier collision detection
    *more predictable simulation
    disadvantages :-
    * if used on a computer that is too slow to keep up with the tick rate,
your game will run at <100% speed. This may affect user input (if using polling),
and will also cause problems with game difficulty/balancing
(things are easier to control when they happen slower than they should)
    * in multiplayer, the gamespeed will be limited by the slowest client
(which is ok for RTS type games, but very bad for FPS type games)
    * on fast computers, your game will not be taking full advantage of the speed
    time based
    advantages :-
    * networking synchronization is alot easier (and a constant speed can be maintained, even with slow clients)
    * the speed of the computer is fully exploited
    disadvantages :-
    * collision detection is alot trickier
those are not the definitive adv/dis by any means -
just what I could come up with off the top of my head.
feel free to add/correct to them...

  • Time based animation

    Hello,
I'm looking for opinions on which is the best way to animate your game for andoid and/or iOS with time based code.
I have some knowledge of the subject, but have not tested the various methods on my mobile device.
Some options i know of would be using an ENTER_FRAME event ,calculate delta-time, and used either a fixed or variable time step. (Or perhaps variable but with a limmit) Others have mentioned doing the same, but with a Timer calling the function rather than ENTER_FRAME.
Also i have read of setInterval() as an option. Some reccomend to updateAfterEvent(), some dont.
I think i may remember it was reccomended not to use timers with flash mobile??? I might be wrong about that.
    thanks for any input.

What's wrong with a tweening engine like TweenLite / TweenMax... it's what I use.

  • Customized effects only work when time-based?

    Hello,
Effects (Captivate 5) can be triggered time-based, triggered by a click box/button or by an advanced actions.
I created some customized effects, sequence of different default effects with setting of timing and parameters. Applying those effects in the first way (timing effect) works fine. But when triggered by a button/click box or by an advanced action only some effects will appear: none of the movement effects, zooming effects or tint changing will be visible. Did anyone else try this out? If this is a known limitation of those triggered effects, please would it be possible to have a list of effects that could be included in a customized effect that has to be triggered?
    Lilybiri

I am using 6.1. I ended up just making multiple versions of the object in question in different colors then show/hiding them with conditional actions. Not as elegant but it works reliably. Seems silly to have the option to set color effects with advanced actions when they don't work properly. Having the ability to set the duration would be a nice fix.
    Thanks,

  • Browse animation effects causing Bridge to freeze

Every time I select browse effects from the animation menu, Adobe Bridge launches (as expected).
When I navigate to the "Text/Blurs" folder and open it, Bridge freezes.
I know I can add an effect to my text without resorting to Bridge, but I'm following
Adobe's Classroom in a box and selecting this method to preview an effect is
    causing Bridge to freeze.

Make sure your AE and your Bridge are up to date. There was a problem in earlier builds. Also, the Animation Effects previews in Bridge are resource intensive little buggers. Make sure that you have allocated an even number of MB of ram to other apps and you're not starving your system. If you only have 8 GB give 4 to other apps and 4 to AE, if you have 16 then you can give 4 to others and 12 to AE.

  • Animation effects charts

I want to create animation effects in charts when some data
changes. For eg: in a Pie Chart I want the slices to rotate based
upon the new data values. And also highlight the slice whose data
value got changed by setting its color to some other temporarily
and then switch back to the original color.
I thought of using dynamic masking but somehow it doesnt seem
to work. FYI I am using actionscript drawing APIs to create my pie
chart dynamically. Each slice is an independent movieclip(so I have
    got control over them).
    For your reference:
    http://flexapps.macromedia.com/flex1.../explorer.mxml
go to Misc Techniques and examples-> Data drill down 3.
I want to have a similar kind of rotation effect.Plus I want
to be able to highlight the effected slice. It will be great if
somebody can suggest some techniques with a lit bit of detail or
    some pointers.
Just to reiterate I am generating everything in the chart
dynamically(nothing in the stage or the library),thatsy unable to
    play around with dynamic masking.
    Any suggestions are welcome.

    Hi -
Yeah, saw that. I guess that's fine for now; here's to hoping for much more object control in the next version!

I have the exact same problem! I sent the discs into my local Apple Center so they could check the discs. A month later I get them back by mail and an e-mail that says "there is no problem with the discs, therefore it must be a problem with you system". Not very helpful, and it took forever before they got time to check the discs. Pretty ****** off by now...
EDIT: It is probably worth mentioning that I get an error when installing LiveType 1B at about 4% of installing, that says "there were errors installing, please try again". I am installing the LiveType content on my LaCie 250GB USB external hard drive, although I have already tried installing the content on the built in hard drive as well..

You can only register a database once if you are using a recovery catalog, so whoever or whatever told you to re-register is simply getting their terminology in a knot!
There **is** a sort-of "re-register" command which does sometimes need to be issued after a resetlogs: it's called a RESET command. See http://tinyurl.com/29t5lr for details. A "reset" is, effectively, a "re-register".
One of the details you will see is that you only need to do a manual reset if it was **you** that issued a resetlogs, outside of RMAN. If you get RMAN to do the resetlogs, however, then there's no need to also issue the reset command, because RMAN already knows about it (and has already updated its own metadata accordingly).
The other thing you'll notice from the documentation is that if you aren't using a recovery catalog then the concept of issuing a reset is entirely redundant. That's because you can't recover to a prior incarnation of the database without a catalog: it's one of the main reasons for wanting to run in catalog mode in the first place. No catalog = no ability to step through incarnations = no need to inform RMAN that you're in a new incarnation.

  • Multiple layered animation effects in HTML 5 not working

I created an animation with 2 effects layered on top of each other so an object would from move from position A to B while a second effect scaled the object to reduce in size at the same time. This was just a matter of setting up the two effects in the same space on the animation time line.
When I output to HTML 5 I only get the motion animation from A to B but not the scale at the same time.
Are there any known issues with HTML 5 supporting layered multiple animation effects in Captivate 6?
    Best, Steve

You did use an Effect that is not yet supported for HTML5. The only supported effects are these:
    Entrance
    - Fly-in (all)
      - Ease-in (all)
    Exit
      - Fly-out (all)
      - Ease-out (all)

  • Time-based access controls

    Hello all,
Is there a time-based access control that can be configured for a 4.2 WCS+WiSM setup either in the WCS or controller? Or am I limited to the ACLs for my Wireless VLAN on the switch. Ultimately, I would like to be able to configure certain APs to accept/deny connections at specific times of the day. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and help.
    Charles

Currently, IP and IPX extended access lists are the only functions that can use time ranges. The time range allows the network administrator to define when the permit or deny statements in the access list are in effect. Prior to this feature, access list statements were always in effect once they were applied. Both named or numbered access lists can reference a time range.
For the further description following URL for the Time-Based Access Lists will help you.

  • Time-based access to WLAN/building for specific users using WCS/ACS

    Here's our situation:
    WCS: 7.0.172.0
    ACS: 4.2(1)
    MSE: 6.0.75.0
For an hour or two each day during an event, we're trying to figure out how to prevent students from connecting to the wireless in a particular building.
All students are in the same WLAN. Everybody on campus uses the same SSID. We dynamically assign users to WLANs based on who they are through ACS. In addition to 802.1x authentication, MAC address authentication is performed by way of ACS to our in-house NAC system, where all students have registered their computers with us. This currently uses the External ODBC Database option in ACS.
    Our contraints:
    - We want them to be able to access wireless at other campus areas during this time, just not in this one building.
    - Faculty/Staff needs to use the wireless in that building during that time. This prevents me from simply shutting down the radios temporarily.
Has anybody attempted anything similar? Anybody have any thoughts or ideas?

  • BW animation effect

    hi, experts
my customer wants to see BW chart with animation effect, for example, when displaying a line chart, the line starts from the start point and extend to the end point.
another effect is that: display a map(maybe a contry or a provice), when the mouse move over it, the coordinate and the keyfigure(maybe the sales amount in the province) is displayed
how to get these animation effect? should i install addtional components?

    Hi,
Thorugh BEX Web Application Desinger we can do all these effects. In WAD please check all the properties to get animation effect for the charts. Check all the properties for the CHART ITEM in WAD.
These are only possible thru BI 7.0.
    Using Maps:
Maps has to be loaded into your system. to get these maps we need to order to SAP AG. They can only provide these types of maps or other way is to get through the ARCVIEW Software where you can generate your own Maps.
Numerous characteristics of the SAP BI possess geographic meaning, for example,
customer, sales region, country. The geographic information, as well as the
associated relevant characteristic values, can be evaluated in the BEx Map. The
BEx Map is the geographical information system (GIS) of SAP BI. It is integrated
    into the Business Explorer.
Maps can be used to visualize economic connections and distributions. You can
clearly represent, for example, specific characteristic numbers as hues, circle or
bar charts for a country, a region or a city. You can also alter the layout of a map
by either zooming in or out around detailed or region-specific information. In this
way the marketing study of a certain product becomes related to a certain region
or a country. Market opportunities or dangers can be recognized in one view.
In addition to using tables or diagrams to visualize information, you can represent
geographically relevant information on a map using BEx Map.
Within the BEx Map, you can use different ways to visualize information:
    • You can assign different colors to certain areas of maps.
    • You can add diagrams (bar charts and/or pie charts).
    • You can display location information (for example, customer addresses) in
the form of points, triangles, squares or crosses on the map.
    • You can use any query that contains geo-relevant characteristics for mapping.
Maps of different degrees of detail can be layered on top of each other as indicated
by different levels of characteristic values.
For example, if a characteristic number in a query is used on the country, region
and postal code levels, three layers in the BEx Map can be indicated. The
respective characteristic for the geographical analysis must be activated.
A higher level covers an underlying level if it has a larger, opaque surface over
    the map level below it.
Connections (or correlations) between data provide the basis for planning and
actions because they are more easily recognizable when visualized on a map.
    Figure 87: Geo-characteristic Types
To use an InfoObject in BEx Map, you must first define it as a geo-characteristic.
This is done in the InfoObject maintenance of the Administrator Workbench.
In the listing of the InfoObjects, select the desired InfoObject and open the
InfoObject in maintenance mode. On the Business Explorer tab, indicate the
desired type of geo-characteristic in the Geographical Type field.
Activate the InfoObject to save the assignment.
Shape files make the static geo-characteristics available on the map.
The Structure of the Shape Files
    • The Shape files consist of three differently formatted files:
    – *.shp – Geo-data that forms the map
    – *.shx – Geo-index to reduce map access time
    – *.dbf – Attributes for the geo-element, such as country or region
Static and dynamic geo-characteristics describe data with geographic relevance
(for example, characteristics such as customer, sales region, country). This
geo-relevant data is represented and evaluated by maps.
There are four different types of geo-characteristics: static, dynamic, dynamic
with values as attributes, and static with geo-characteristics.
    • Static geo-characteristics
    – Characteristics that do not change over a long period of time (for
    example, country, state)
    • Dynamic geo-characteristics
    – Characteristics that are subject to change (for example, customer, sales
    office)
    • Dynamic geo-characteristic with values as attributes
    – Characteristics that are subject to change and whose geo-coordinates are
derived from a referenced static geo-characteristic with geo-attributes
(for example, customers referenced with the geo-characteristic postal
    code).
    • Static geo-characteristic with geo-attributes
    – Static geo-characteristics are enhanced with geo-coordinates to
determine geographic location; used with dynamic geo-characteristics
that have values as attributes (for example, postal code).
    Static geo-characteristic
A static geo-characteristic has geographic coordinates that do not often
change and describe a surface (polygon). Country or region are examples of
static geo-characteristics. Attributes of static geo-characteristics are defined
by the geometry of surfaces or polygons whose data are stored in shape files.
    Dynamic geo-characteristic
A dynamic geo-characteristic has geographic coordinates that change
more frequently and describe a place (location information). Customer or
workplace are examples of dynamic geo-characteristics because they are
settled at a geographic point, which can be described by an address. The
address data of these characteristics is subject to frequent change. SAP BW
adds a set of standard attributes to this geo-characteristic. The geographic
coordinates of the appropriate object are stored for each line in the master
data table. A geographic coordinate includes the following geo-attributes:
    Linking Data to a Map:
Static geo-characteristics are connected to shape file map coordinates using the
    SAPBWKEY.
When implementing a query for this geo-characteristic, BEx Map transfers the
data for every area on the map.
To be able to maintain the SAPBWKEY, you have to load the three files for the
shape file to your local hard disk. However, you can maintain the SAPBWKEY in
the dbf file only. While it is possible to maintain the SAPBWKEY in Microsoft
Excel or in ArcView, SAP recommends that you use Excel for small amounts.
of data because it is easy to operate.

  • WLC 8510 Time Based ACL Support

    Hi,
I see something like this in the Data Sheet of 8510 "A wireless policy engine on the Cisco 8500 Series enables profiling of wireless devices and enforcement of policies such as VLAN assignment, QoS, access control lists (ACLs), and time-of-day- based access." I wonder if does WLC 8500 has time-based ACL support, or data sheet is talking about anything else?
    Thank you for replies.
    M.S.Temelli / Istanbul Technical University

You want a straight answer or you want an answer coming out from the SALES team?
Sales team will say "YES".  Will it be effective?  Not one bit.    You go to Security > Local Policy.  You create a Local Policy (and attached to your SSID) and determine what time/day you want specific criterea (like wireless client manufacturer).
However, if you want what time/day you want the SSID to go down or UP, then you'll need something more robust, like a Layer 3 ACL.
If you want something like a time/day you want the radio(s) of the AP to go down/up then you need something like EnergyWise or WCS/NCS/PI.

  • Sales orders in TDMS company/time based reduction  are outside the scope

    Guys,
I have had some issues with TDMS wheras it didn't handle company codes without plants very well. That was fixed by SAP. But I have another problem now. If I do a company code and time based reduction, It doesn't seem to affect my sales orders in VBAK/VBUK as I would have expected. I was hoping it would only copy sales orders across that have a plant which is assigned to a company code that was specified in the company code based reduction scenario. That doesn't seem to be the case.
VBAK is now about one third of the size of the original table (number of records). But I see no logic behind the reduction. I can clearly see plenty of sales documents that have a time stamp way back from what I specified in my copy procedure and I can see others that have plant entries that should have been excluded from the copy as they do belong to different company codes than the ones I specified.
I was under the impression that TDMS would sort out the correct sales orders for me but somehow that doesn't seem to be happening. I have to investigate further as to what exactly it did bring across but just by looking at what's in the target system I can see plenty of "wrong" entries in there either with a date outside the scope or with a plant outside the scope.
I can also see that at least the first 10'000 entries in VBAK in the target system have a valid from and to date of 00.00.0000 which could explain why the time based reduction didn't work?
Did you have similar experiences with your copies? Do I have to do a more detailed reduction such as specifying tables/fields and values?
    Thanks for any suggestions
    Stefan
Edited by: Stefan Sinzig on Oct 3, 2011 4:57 AM

The reduction itself is not based on the date when the order was created but the logic enhances it to invoices and offers, basically the complete update process.
If you see data that definitely shouldn't be there I'd open an OSS call and let the support check what's wrong.
