Time Capsule internal HD not detected!

Hi guys, I've just purchased a Time Capsule 500GB, just got home and pluged it in, all the airport function works well, but I'm not able to detect the hard drive in it at all.
Isn't it suppost to be plug and play ? Maybe my unit is defective (I hope not, the Apple Store is very far from my home!!)

It pretty much is, but you do have to run Airport Utility. Check out the [TimeCapsule Setup Guide|http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/TimeCapsule_SetupGuide.pdf] and see if that doesn't answer your questions.
Basically, you need to run the AirPort Utility, located in /Applications/Utilities/, to set up the Time Capsule. Good luck.

This is asked several times a day.. obviously people are struggling with their latest SSD being too small.
The TC is not suitable for network file server.. but many people having no choice press it into service as such.
It cannot be partitioned. It was and is and ever shall be a backup device for Time Machine.
Major issues.
1. No backup.. no way Time Machine can backup a network drive. No place to backup to.. So all your files will be at risk. And you will need to buy a third party like CCC to do backup.
2. The TC cannot be partitioned and mixing TM backups and data is not great.
3. The drive is slow to spin up and quick to spin down.. there is no controls.
4. iPhoto in particular can easily corrupt its entire library with wireless networking causing a disconnection to one photo. Even if you do this;;; do not move your photo library... you have been warned!!
5. iTunes will constantly lose connection to the library. The disk is too slow to respond.. itunes on the computer will constantly spit out errors. Even in the midst of streaming the TC can spin down the disk due to caching.
6. Do not use any live files on the TC no matter what else you do.. if you edit files in whatever program the file must be on the local hard disk.
7. The only suitable location for most libraries is a computer. You can plug in an external hard disk.

Airport Time capsule "internal drive needs repair". brand new out of the box.
ModelA1470 Running one newish mac mini mountan lion. Airport utility 6.3
Also I can not enter the serial number into web site so I can't get help

Take it straight back to the store for replacement. It is faulty.. there is no fix you can do from outside. Even if there was, I would still say it is Apple's problem.. and a disk should never go bad in that length of time..
You would think after the debacle with Seagate drives in the imacs they would never touch them again.

If you open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utiltiies > AirPort Utility and click Manual Setup, are you able to access the settings for the Time Capsule?
Or, does AirPort Utility scan for the Time Capsule and then not find it?

Was the Time Capsule or your Mac ever located in Alabama?
Where are your ISP offices located?
Have you tried resetting the Time Capsule back to factory default settings and then setting it up again? If yes, it may take Apple's location services servers 4-6 weeks to pick up the new location.

Your problem will be if you use wireless for internet then you cannot do both internet and backup at once.. you still should plug the TC into the uverse router and set it in bridge mode.. you can setup wireless if you like on the TC and use either TC or uverse but you must work out how to do both at once.
If you use ethernet on the Mac then wireless to backup is also a bit of an issue.. please ask as I can show you the setup.. or visa versa.. wireless for internet and ethernet for backup..

Time capsule now does not work with Lion just installed.

Just downloaded Lion to Mac Air. Time capsule now does not work. Where is the problem?

Restart the TC.. lion is stupid.. it forgets what it is connected to with alarming frequency ... like someone suffering dementia.
If it continues to have issues, plug the TC directly to the lion computer by ethernet (if not already) and try again. Change the wireless to manual in airport utility and change the wireless name.. to force a new configuration. Once setup you can just use wireless.
In the end you may need to reset the TC.. just hold in the reset button for about 10sec. It should then become available.. a reset does not do anything to data on the hard drive but you might need to restore any passwords.

I have set up my time capsule but can not see it in finder

I have setup my time capsule, I can see it on the network and have done an initial backup, I can see it under shared devices in finder but when I open it I cannot see any files in the folder

If you have backed up your Mac using Time Machine to the Time Capsule, you would not use the Finder to see the files on the Time Capsule.
If you want to see the backups, click on the Time Machine "clock" icon on the dock at the bottom of the screen and wait a few minutes for everything to load.
Use the scale at the right of the screen to move from different recent backup times or dates. Select the time that you want and use the Finder like interface to navigate to locate a file or folder.

My iphoto library, located on time capsule ( +/- 50G) does not load at all after upgrade to OSX to Yosemite ?

I am guessing, this is not the end for accessing to my iphoto (last update) library, my life memories, but after upgrade to OSX Yosemite, my iphoto library, located on time capsule (+/- 50G) does not load at all. I have sent the report to Apple.
I am, worried to save or see my pictures back.

That is a bad idea
1 - since you have files on the same disk as your backup you have no backup for those files which apparently includes you photos - having no b means it is just a matter of time until you lose them
2 - The TimeMachine backup grows until it fills the volume it is on - when the TC is full iphoto (and maybe other programs) will stop workig due to lack of space
You need at least two external hard drives - one for the iPhoto library (this one needs to be directly connected with a fast wired connection like Thungrbolt, Firewire or USB and be formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) ) and a separate EHD for you TM backup

Just connected Time Capsule - MBP doesn't detect it

The TC is connected to my MacMini. It is configured to boost my wireless signal. I connected the ethernet plug from the wall outlet to the WAN port on the TC. Another ethernet cable is connected from the TC to the Mini. I connected a printer to it and it prints from the Mini and the MBP. The MBP found the Time Capsule network and I was able to connect to the wireless network. When trying to set up the MBP to use TC as a Time Machine disk, it does not detect it or any Airport devices. Software is up to date on the Mini, TC and MBP.
What am I missing?

Taking it to work tomorrow to see if another computer can recognize the Airport Express is an excellent idea!
Possibly more likely than a defective Airport Express is that you have either a defective Airport card installed into your G4, or the card wasn't installed properly. For a start:
- pull out and reseat the Airport card in its slot inside the G4
- pull out and reseat the internal Airport antenna cable connector, which of course has its own socket on the Airport card itself.

TIME CAPSULE lost JPGs (not via regular Backup) ?

Hello, a question ... (and sorry for my "bad-school-english"...) !!
I am the owner of a TIME CAPSULE (1TB) and of course i use the BACKUP (TIME MACHINE) Function.
I´ll save data/jpgs (separate not via Backup !!!) on the harddisk of the TC.
I´ll delete close to 2.000 jpgs by mistake.(stuuupid)
DATA RESCUE II & PICTURE RESCUE are only able to search missing data in usb-harddisk... but not on TIME CAPSULE ...
how can i recover the jpgs ?
any ideas ?
(i have no regular backups on TimeMachine)
Would be great to get some support !!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think your only option recover these files is to temporarily remove the TC's internal hard drive (this will void your warranty); place it in a USB/SATA drive caddy and connect it directly to your Mac. Then run your recovery utilities to attempt to retrieve these files. When done, you would reinstall the drive into the TC.

Internal storage not detected

I'm new in the forum hoping someone can help.
When I connect my Z1c to my computer the phone icon is not detected. Only the external storage is listed and the internal storage is missing. Even when I launch it on PCC the internal storage icon is not detected. Anyone pls help...

Time Capsule internal disc needs repair

Have erased my Time Capsule version 7.6.4 and it now has a flashing yellow light , says Internal disc needs repair

It depends .. read the bottom .. first line of the rubber molding.. A1302 it is Gen2.
A1355 it is Gen3.
They use very different drives.. the Gen2 often have issues with WD black which could be dead but it can also be the power supply.
Gen 3 use 1TB samsung, 2TB WD green and the power supply is usually ok.
If you can access it in the Airport Utility do a full low level format.
Choose the one pass erase. Called Zero Out Data.
If this doesn't work or is not available you can have other issues.. replace the power supply if gen2 or replace the disk if gen3.

Pull out the drive and test it in a USB to sata holder.. if it works ok then power supply is bad. That is common on gen2.
But the WD black are also pretty poor after 5years.. you really have had full and fruitful life out of it.

Time Capsule internal disk "cannot be found"

Yesterday I stopped being able to connect to my Time Capsule's shared disk; I see my Time Capsule in Finder but when I double-click on the disk folder, it says "The operation cannot be completed because the original item for 'Storage' cannot be found." I've tried installing all software updates, restarting my computer (Mac mini), resetting the Time Capsule, and tried every different file sharing setting, all without any difference. I'm thinking it may be related to the recent software update for .Mac>MobileMe because I noticed there are new icons for this in Finder the same time the Time Capsule disk stopped working.

Mac with Lion is about vista standard as far as networking goes.. did you turn it off and on again??
Turn off the whole network.. off not sleep.. reboot in the right order.. modem.. router.. TC if different to router.. then clients.. I think the TC should reappear.. if not connect to it by ethernet.. do not use extended wireless.. it is too flakey.
If it still doesn't appear press reset and do the setup again.
For lion make sure you download, install and use the tool utility.. not the toy utilty built into windows lion.
