Time - Time=? ***Help****

Question

Hello!
12:30 00:00:00 - 12:00 00:00:00 = 30
if I know 12:30 00:00:00 and 12:00 00:00:00 from Database,
How can I get 30 in java program ?
Please give me a small program.

this isnt exactly what you want, but can very easily be changed to suit your situation, as the idea is sort of the same.
String date1 = "2002/12/02 12:12";
String date2 = "2002/12/02 12:02";
Calendar tmpCal1 = null;
Calendar tmpCal2 = null;
int year, month, day, hr, min;
year = Integer.parseInt( date1.substring(0, 4) );
month = Integer.parseInt( date1.substring(5, 7) );
day = Integer.parseInt( date1.substring(8, 10) );
hr = Integer.parseInt( date1.substring(11, 13) );
min = Integer.parseInt( date1.substring(14, 16) );
tmpCal1 = new GregorianCalendar(year, month, day, hr, min);
year = Integer.parseInt( date2.substring(0, 4) );
month = Integer.parseInt( date2.substring(5, 7) );
day = Integer.parseInt( date2.substring(8, 10) );
hr = Integer.parseInt( date2.substring(11, 13) );
min = Integer.parseInt( date2.substring(14, 16) );
tmpCal2 = new GregorianCalendar(year, month, day, hr, min);
Date tmpDate1 = tmpCal1.getTime();
Date tmpDate2 = tmpCal2.getTime();now you can just do a subtraction between the two dates getTime methods and get the diff in ms. and if you cant convert those to seconds or whatever, then you shouldnt be doing java ;)
this is an extremely messy way of doing it but it works. and i know for a fact that there are better examples if you search the fourms cos i have posted some of them.
