Timing of usage decision and results recording

Hi Gurus,
The business have different testings that require some time to get the results. They need to sell the products even before the results are out. So they need to UD the ilot even if the tests are not yet done. How can we record the results if the ilot is already done with UD and the product is already sold?

Its not recommanded to do the Result recording after material is sold but still you can try to use the concept of "Long term Inspection "
While creating a MIC ,check a control indicator ,tick on  "Long term Inspection "
This will allow you to do result recording after UD
In a long-term inspection:
There can already be a usage decision for the inspected material during the long-term inspection
You can still record inspection results for long-term characteristics, once you have made the usage decision
The system sets a separate status in the inspection lot to identify the long-term inspection and it provides special worklists and workflow tasks for this purpose

When they make up a usage decision, materials are dispatched out from the plant and by the time it is received by the customer, results are recorded and certificate is issued.

    Yes you can use the long term characteristics but it is not recommended to do result recording once it is at clients place.

    I am new in QM , was MM & PP support. I am confused here about the usage decision vs result recording.
    I do understand in QM there's inspection lot , in order to release the inspection lot , i should released the UD.
    So what's the different between this both ?
    Can i have inspection lot without result recording ?
    Or can i have inspection lot without UD ?
    Please help to clarify my confuse.

    Thanks for understand because i am totally new in QM.
    I won't use QM for Notification here. I will use QM for stock transfer & QM in Delivery before PGI.
    As i know the basic requirement of QM 
    Setup the Master Data (QM View & all QM relavant data) ---> Type of inspection (which will determine which type of inspection to carry out ) -----> Inspection Lot Configuration --->Configuration for UD ----> Configuration for COA.
    Master data that which required
    Material master QM view,
    Master inspection characteristics,
    Task lists or inspection plans
    Code, Code groups and Selected sets.
    Quality info-record
    My Question :
    By having the above setup and configuration , without result recording can i have the COA to print out for either Post Process Inspection (Final FG) or Inspection at Delivery ?
    With the Master Data which i mention as above , is it sufficient for me to activate
    Post Process Inspection (Final FG - QM PP)
    QM Inspection at Delivery (QM /SD)
    QM stock transfer with inspection type 08.

    Hi,
    You can do the result recording on one screen through T code -QE51N.Here select Inspection Lot Number page,give the required input & execute.
    On next screen you will find the list of Inspection lots select one by one,put the results & do UD.
    You can also do Result recording forcefully by selecting all characteristics & click on force.

  • Reset Usage Decision and reverse posting in tcode QA12

    Hi Friends,
    I have a requirement to reset usage decision by creating a customer funtion button in tcode QA12 and reverse the posting quantity from restricted area to to be posted area.
    I have implemented SAP Note# 175842.So now decision is getting reset but for reverse posting, i need to run RQEVAC50 program separately.But i need it in one go,like if user presses 'customer function' button, system should both reset the decision as well as reverse the posting quantity.
    Can anybody tell me how to do this...

    I am not sure but I have tried the same thing combining is possible when you do not have any stock posting praposal for selected set of UD.
    What you have to do is make a separate program where implement aforesaid SAP note( as suggested in the note) and in the same program call for the screen to cancel the Usage decision(Read the user exit carefully)
    QEVA0008-->Usage decision: Customer function key (e.g. to cancel UD) you can create a routine to call the screen & make changes in the background.

    Please tell me the advantages of using class charactarestic in result recording
    Normally we are doing as per quality plan and MIC assigned to quality plan
    So when we use Class characterestic in MIC what will be the advantages

    Create a characteristic CT04
    Create a class  CL04
    Assign characteristic to class
    Assign this class to material master
    (while assigning the class system asking some value under general tab ..What it mean)????
    Now i done RR and UD
    Now i didnt understand any difference of the process after assigning Class characteristic
    Please tell me how we can get a report of batch wise RR

    2.Is it possible to create an Inspection plan for a group of material? for example, I just need to maintain 1 Inspection plan for 30 material. something like it can be group like reference operation set? if yes how? if no, why?

    Yes UD  can be changed anytime but you can not change the stock postng.Also for history in QM view tick on "document req"

    Yes this is possible through QP01/02 --->in header there is one tab"Material assignment" here you can enter
    Group conter (same say "1" ) material & plant.
    Same Inspection plan is reffered to the multiple materials.You can add as materials possible.
    But remember that Unit of measurement of all materials must be same.

  • Partial quality inspection & partial usage decision?

    Inspection lot is created when GR is done against purchase order, in normal case result is recorded for whole lot and usage decision is made partially / fully.
    Say business want to inspect (record result) only 50 pieces and want to do usage decision of 50 pieces immediately and again want to inspect (record result) another 50 pieces of same lot and want to do the usage decision u2026u2026u2026u2026how to do it?
    As per my knowledge once inspection is done & usage decision is done system stops to inspect that lot again.
    Looking for your valuable input as soon as possible.

    For result recording to be done for  qunatity In control indicator of each char tick on long term Inspection.
    This will allow you to do RR after UD has taken.
    For UD to be done Partially means stock posting partially ...
    You can create a UD code(AP) & in customization do not post it automatically.
    Then You can only post 50 Qty initially with UD -AP
    then for rest of the  qty in QA32 select those lots with UD & stock post rest of the items when you carry out RR for rest of 50 .
    This is the solution

    My client is steel manufacturing industry.The requirement of client is that, after doing usage decision and stock posting they want to do result recording.Thy want it like this because in case of urgency they pass the material and afterward they do the result recording.Is such a scenario is possible in standard sap.If yes pls. provide me the solution.

    I wouls suggest you look at Jan's suggestion.  Setting everything as LT characteristics is
    1) not a good quality practice
    2) you would still have to manually to the UD I believe, auto UD won't work.  So if you have to manually process the lot anyway, you may as well just make the sotck posting and leave the lot open for results recording.

  • Cancellation of UD and re recording the results before stock posting

    Hello Friends,
    I am working with Handling unit functionality.
    Based on the goods receipt done against the production order system generated the inspection lot. I have done the result recording and then I did the usage decision and saved. I have not yet done the stock posting.
    Now the requirement is I want to change my results in result recording. System is not allowing me to change the results as the message is coming Usage decision is done. How can I cancel or reverse the usage decision so that I can do the result recording. Kindly advise?
    Note: I have done the UD but not yet done the stock posting.

    33924 is the original note.
    Use caution with this, it is not supported by SAP and is not recommended to normally use this. 
    Typically, if you need to correct results, it is recommended that existing results be left and the UD made.  Then create a manual inspection lot for the material and enter in the corrected values.  Make the UD on that lot.  Than manually make any necessary inventory moves.

  • QM: Material Transfer without Usage Decision

    Dear all,
    I need your help in mapping following scenario.Senario is like:
    Material is received from supplier with quality certificates. Material receipt is made on the basis of supplier certificate. Sample from received stock is send to third party lab for testing. Meantime material received is used for production. After some days result from third party lab is received. If report is negative then compensation is to be claimed for used quantity and rest of the material is to be returned to supplier or can be used if supplier agrees to compensate for poor quality.
    Should I use long term characteristic for this and if yes then how it is to be used.

    Hi (Better if you mention your name),
    In your scenario, you can use the long term characteristics for recording results even after usage decision and can take the usage decision, but ensure that you`ll not do any stock posting until you get the report from Third party Lab. After you receive the test results from it, then you do the stock posting for the unrestricted use (for used materials) and return delivery (for rejected materials).
    Reward if cleared n close the thread.

  • No RR then No Usage Decision

    I used a user status to make sure that if no Result Recording, then Usage Decision and stock posting not possible. That is working fine, but I need this to be valid only for required characteristics. It should not consider optional characteristics for this check.
    But now, system checks whether the MIC status is "5" or not irrespective of Required or Optional MIC.
    How can I make this User status setting applicale only for Required characteristic.

  • Return process for the PO which has done the usage decision with QM

    Hi Guru,
    We are running below process right now, and stop there, don't know how to return to vendor:
    PO for external vendor -> Goods purchased physically arrive -> Create a inbound delivery for this PO -> Post the GR with the inbound delivery created -> QA team performed the usage decision and rejected.
    At this moment, how can we reverse the good receipt? We canu2019t use VL09 to reverse the inbound delivery, and we can not use MBST to reverse the material doucment which created during Post good receipt.
    What's the correct process to return it to vendor?

    Hi Rick,
    Can use t.code MIGO and select return delivery for material document or delivery note.
    Then select the respective document, it will display the details, now you can select the material which you want return and unselect the materials which you dont want to return and the quantities accordingly.
    Save the document.
    This will use movement type 122.

  • How to Create Custom Usage Decisions

    Hi,
    I am working in ECC 6.0. I want to create a Custom Usage decision (Plant Specific). I can not remember where to go to set this up?
    If I use transaction QS41 and set up my own Code Group under Catalog type 3 (Usage Decision), where can I attach the Selected Set that tells the system how to post the Usage Decision (i.e. Unrestricted, Restricted, Scrap...)
    Any help with this would be huge.

    I get confused sometimes with this.
    When I go into QS51..I get to choose Catalog Type 3 (Usage Decision) and my Plant. Then I create my Selected Set. I highlight that and Double Click on Selected Set Codes. Inside there I create my Accept and Reject codes and assign Posting Proposals. From there I save.
    I just ran a MIGO transaction and created an 01 type Inspection Lot. I tried to go in and do a Usage Decision on it. When I hit the drop down...it gives me the Original SAP Catalog. I do not see my Selected Set I just created.
    Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?
