My advice to Verizon at this point is to not be AT&T, don't tell us we are going to get Tethering and WiFi hotspot with Android 2.2 (Froyo) unless you are willing to GIVE it to us at no cost.
You have a lot of customers that have left AT&T because AT&T they act as if they are the only Wireless company available, there are more companies that have Android devices now so we (the current Verizon customers with Android devices) have choices.
Get your stuff in one sack, back up what you say you are going to do, put us (your customers) first as you say you do, and do something that the other companies don't.......
GIVE US THE THINGS YOU PROMISED US WITHOUT ALL THE DRAMA!
And make the Tethering and WiFi hotspot free because we are ALREADY paying for UNLIMITED DATA!

Phones and not just smart phones have able to tether for years. It has always been more expensive for that option. I guess it just bothers me that people act like they are just giving Verizon money and getting nothing in return... we are carrying some of the most reliable amazing mobile equipment on earth and all I read on forums is gimmie more...
Don't get me wrong, I want this update so bad I have been dreaming I have received it just to wake up and find its not there.. its like the dreams I usually have about finding money..
What comforts me is knowing that this device will be receiving support from its users long after Motorola and Verizon have wrote it off.
Bottom line is its the best device I have ever owned. If I never knew about an update I would be completely content... ignorance truly is bliss I guess.

  • The Ever-present Fan Noise Issue

    Has there been a definite resolution to the fan noise issue on the iMacs? My 20' started after about a week while I was watching a movie. I can't really work on it without having iTunes (or some other noise) in the background.
    A while ago, I read a post about having it narrowed down to the "Optical Drive Fan" (or something like that) being loose/broken/cheaply built (perhaps a combination of the three) and it made sense when I looked at the back of my mac and covered the vent to listen to the difference.
    I haven't heard about anyone getting this fixed and the problem being solved, but I would certainly like to. From the sounds of things, some Apple techs are a little premature to replace logic boards and mid-planes and things of the like. The one that I talked to "hadn't heard" of any noise issues and thought it might be a power supply, but I haven't had the time to take it in yet.
    If someone has a definite solution (more than just speculation or complaints), I would appreciate hearing. I don't feel like waiting 1-2 weeks for a part that I don't need, if I just have to take it in to the tech for 45 minutes to tighten a fan.

    programs it didn't open: limewire, clamav,onyx, menumeters, my driver for my mouse, and a few others.
    CS2 took a while to load as did mac office.
    the rendering in CS2 was aweful! now i know why steve said it was no good for pros.
    the native apps were quick but not enough to sell me on it.
    i had a rev a imac g5 with 2 gigs of ram and it screamed.
    i plan to make out my new 2.1 with 2.5 and she will scream as well.
    the intel duo is nice..if you like to look at activity moniter and see to cpu's but to me its not worth the hassle of dealing with beta apps and all that.
    the g5 is more than capable of handling all my tasks and themsome.
    i'm gonna wait to upgrade. unless they come out with something amazing this year.

  • Patch standalone Hyper V and the VMs present in it

    Hi All,
    We have a 10 Hyper V host (newly added) and each host containing about  8VMs.
    we have monthly patching and we need to make sure that the patches gets applied to the host and the VMs.
    This is the first time I would be working on patching the Hyper V host. The version we use is :
    Hyper-V Manager
    Microsoft Corporation
    Version: 6.1.7601.17514
    could someone please let me know what are the best practices and consideration need to be taken care for the patching? 
    I don't think we have option to migrate the VMs to the other host...do we?
    we have downtime of about 8hours for the patching.

    To make life much easier for you, you should consider building your Hyper-V hosts into a cluster.  Your software version says you have 2008 so you don't have the ability introduced in 2012 to perform live migration between standalone systems. 
    So you have to cluster them to be able to live migrate.  Then it is a simple matter of live migrating the VMs to another node, patch/reboot one of the host nodes, rinse and repeat.  Microsoft has also introduced cluster aware updating in 2012, making
    the patching all the easier within a cluster environment.  It can actually automate the process.
    Introducing Windows Server Update Services into the environment also provides a level of management for getting patches to the servers ahead of time.  I have my lab set up to download patches but not apply them. Then when I want to, I run a quick
    update, only requiring an outage for the amount of time it takes to reboot a system.  You can set up your VMs to be on a different patch cycle than the hosts, or you can go through and do them all at once.

  • Ipod touch 4g has broken pins and the hold button is defective, is it eligible for off warranty replacement  online it says it'd be $99.99

    i have an ipod touch 4g 16gb ios 6.1.5. 
    the dock port pins are damaged badly, music has not played for a while but is come and go now. dont know why (without headphones)
    and the hold button doesn't work,  will apple still honor the "off warranty replacement thingy" i had issues with my old ipod (not dock issues)
    i know they check the dock port on arrival, but i need to know if the ipod will qualify or not

    A broken phone is never a fun time! You can download the Verizon Cloud desktop app here http://vz.to/IsygQ6 and back up the Verizon Cloud content to your computer.
    You can also wait until you activate the new phone on your line and just sync the content back to your phone from the cloud.

  • Broken iPhone and the Apple Store

    Something I hadn't thought of until today: is it possible to buy a broken iPhone on eBay, take to an Apple store and pay the out-of-warranty exchange for a working device?
    Would the condition of the device matter as well? Such as; saying my iPhone got ran over by a car versus "it won't turn on", or something of that sort. I'm thinking no, because the warranty doesn't apply anymore, but would like clarification.

    Certain damage is ineligible for out-of-warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. However, an iPhone that has failed due to contact with liquid may be eligible for out-of-warranty service.

  • WLS 8.1SP4 and the ever-increasing number of JMS connections

    We are running a CRM application on a BEA WebLogic 8.1SP4 cluster and we are experiencing some regular performance problems.
    When looking at the active JMS connections we see that they can increase till 800 current connections until the application slows down. It takes a very long time to generate the active JMS connections overview
    The current number of connections is always nearly identical to the connections high value.
    Do you maybe recognize this kind of behavior? Your comments, advice or suggestions are very much appreciated.

  • My iPhone lock button is broken..and now the phone is dead and won't turn on! Help!?

    So the lock button on my iPhone 4 is broken, 100%, and the battery died earlier today, when I plug it in, it usually turns on if it has been dead...I tried doing this for hours and nothing happened, I plugged it into 3 different chargers thinking that might be the problem. And since there isn't a apple store close to me, I went to AT&T and they told me I need to do some type of restart (I forget what it's called) it is where you hold down the home and lock button at the same time, but as you can see that wont work since my lock button Is broken. Is there ANYTHING else I can do to fix it!?

    Add this one to the list of thinks that don't work on the Apple Job Board. It looks like Apple is using ADP's VE (Virtual Edge) technology to run this system, and I've been stupified by the number of features that are just broken, or so poorly thought out by ADP as to be unusable, (certainly for webkit and mozilla browsers at least: I didn't bother checking IE.)
    Here are a few highlights:
    "My Job List", list of jobs applied for, seems to max out at three. You can apply for more than that, but you can only see the first three.
    "Search Using Your Resume" feature yields few or no results, even when the pasted text contains only common, exactly matched words like 'Design' or 'Engineer'.
    The missing resume upload, described in this thread.
    "My Job Agent" seems to never flag anything, at least it hasn't ever for me despite pretty loose criteria.
    Agent's created using "My Job Agent" eventually just disappear, which is fine because they don't seem to work.
    When updating a profile, acknowledging the 'Terms' happens twice in a row. 
    Job seekers can only supply one cover letter despite being able apply for several jobs.
    Pagination for search results only appears at the top of the page, so it's necessary to scroll down through each page, then up to the top again to proceed to the next page.
    Well, I'm sure there are others, but you get the idea. I hope the Apple folks can fix this, (or twist ADP's arm to fix it,) so it better represents the quality of experience that Apple is so respected for consistently delivering.

  • Defective t440s and the worst customer support I've ever received

    2 months ago I purchased a t440s that arrived defective. Notably, the screen was the upgraded FHD IPS panel. My unit came with the LG model, which is notorious for being defective. The screen had bad viewing angles (its main selling point...), about 1.5 inches of light bleed along the bottom, and significant yellow tinting outside of a medium-sized circle in the middle of the screen. Additionally, the trackpad was too far left in its housing and would ocassionally *get stuck beneath the case* and ALWAYS scrape against it.
    After waiting 3 weeks for my laptop to arrive, I requested a repair after owning it for 2 days and sent in my laptop-- at the end of September. I didn't receive any updates on the status of my repair until several days ago. I was unable to answer the call and the voicemail Lenovo left only said that my repair was pending. After attempting to contact support myself and being placed on hold for absurd lengths of time, I gave up.
    Earlier today I received another call. The rep told me that my laptop wouldn't be able to BEGIN being repaired until November 24th, at the very least. This is due to a backorder on replacement screens. I'm assuming that's because they're having to replace more than just a few.
    The rep offered to have my laptop swapped with a new unit, yet I'll have to speak with another person who won't be calling me until "sometime next week" to actually have this done.
    The girl I spoke with to initially request my repair was very kind and knowledgeable. Everything following that has been unacceptable at best.
    I purchased from Lenovo after being told by numerous peers that their quality was legendary across the board. I don't think I'll ever purchase another Lenovo product in my life and I will definitely try to dissuade anyone from making the same mistake I did.
    You suck, Lenovo. You really **bleep**ed me here.

    I gotta say that when I was dealing with customers services I thought they were fantastic, and this was back in June. Now my player has sadly broken again...ugh...twice in a year...which is making me consider just buying something else, I know all mp3 players are reportedly like this, but its just not right... ...and I'm pretty sure Creative just have a big warehouse of faulty Zen's which they put all the faulty ones in when they get returned, and then they just pick up another one and send it out to you. I also find it ridiculous that there is no telephone support for everyone...which would solve alot of problems... I sent Customer Support an e-mail, so when should I hear back?     I dropped my 17" macbook pro and the screen is broken. Can I still use it with an external monitor? When I plugged it into a monitor I had used it with before, I'm not able to see anything on the macbook screen to control it. It came on but I just got the blue screen with nothing else after typing in my password. (Didn't see the password form just assumed it was there somewhere and it did go from space to blue screen but no desktop icons, files, dock strip at top or anything else, just blank blue screen) so I can't access the system preferences.
    Or can I / or how do I, transfer hard drive files to my mac mini? If not salvageable as is can I pull out the hard drive and make it an external harddrive? In otherwords is anything salvageable? It seems it's coming on I just can't access anything. BTW I was told it would cost aprox $1000 to replace the screen! I paid almost $4000 for this thing and it was running great - makes me sick to lose it!

    I'd like to promise you that everything will be fine if you just get the monitor going - but it's hard to know what the hardware damage might be. It might be the monitor, or the damage might be greater.
    Your best solution would be visit your local Apple Store and let them know what your situation is. They have access to diagnostics you don't, and they might be able to the best way to save your data and keep you computing. It's still not covered, but they can tell you what your current options are.
    Um, you might consider investing in a backup drive.
    And there other repair options, too. Powerbook Medic http://www.powerbookmedic.com/xcart1/pages.php?pageid=67 offers reliable repairs, and quotes prices well under Apple's.

    The state of the warranty no longer matters since accidental damage itself voids the warranty.  Apple calls replacement due to damage an out-of-warranty replacement so there is no misunderstanding about that.  And they take it just a little further by saying if you try and repair it yourself, then they won't have anything to do with the iPhone ever again.  They are pretty emphatic about what they will and will not do in the way of replacing.
    You can, of course, take the iPhone to an Apple Authorized Repair Service and see if they will replace the screen and back and how much that would cost.  That way Apple will still deal with you if necessary.

  • Tired of apps freezing and banging on the screen like a gorilla trying to get a response

    When will there be an update that actually improves the ios so that you can actually hit a link in safari without zooming in and so that the email quits freezing and has to be swiped away and restarted to work or when that won't even work and the device must be hard reset. It is so frustrating. It is the same with the home button; half the time it double clicks when I click once and often it doesn't work at all. I have been so loyal because Apple products used to just work and now they just don't seem to be any more stable than all of the other me too products. I promised my wife that I would buy us apple watches when they come out but now the price is so much higher than expected and if they operate like my other devices I am worried that it will be a wast of thousands of dollars. I know this is a rant but product support wants $35 to even chat about my problems and I am just about done with this crap. By the way my family has three iPods and two phones between us and the problems are on all of them. I know apple wants profits but test some of this stuff or actually provide updates that resolve problems not just put a watch app on the phone to suck up even more memory. Worst of all I will probably buy the **** watches anyhow. The good part is that if they are crappy I know I won't get over it and that will save me some money long term. No sense paying a premium for a dud.

    I have hard reset my device (many times out of need), synced the device a few times, removed apps and media to reduce burden on memory, cleared running aps, and yes I have restored though I did this on my phone which was having similar issues and it helped a little. These are the same issues as my wife and daughter have with thier iPads also. I understand things go wrong with software and that no matter what bugs can be present but it used to be minimal with apple and they used to be rectified quickly. My question is really for apple and perhaps it should be more clear: HAVE THEY LOST THIER WAY ON QUALITY CONTROL. Are apple devices the same as the rest now and not worth the premium. It was easy to be a raving fan when the products just worked. I accepted that thre were limitations such as no flash and no USB because those items caused bugs and eliminating them made the product more stable. My devices are not more stable than others any more and I wonder if the issues are just part of apple products now or if there is a solution. I just asked four people about the issues with te home button and everyone had them. No one had the finger print scanner though. Is that change the ssue? My devices freeze all the time and it is getting old. I am convinced it is not my fault in any event.
