Here it is reporting where it found sqlnet.ora. Most likely it is using tnsnames.ora from the same location. Check your entry for 'visR1211' in that copy of tnsnames.ora and you will find that it references exactly what tnsping is showing in 'Attempting to contact', below.

Solman_Setup, J2EE Configuration, start J2EE Config points at old server
Hi,
I have recently performed a system copy on my solution manager server. As far as I'm aware I have followed the correct procedure and performed all post installation tasks.
Since the copy I have a problem with my SLD which is in my solution manager system. I think it may be one of two problems.
Firstly
When I run SOLMAN_SETUP initial configuration step 3 - Start J2EE Configuration the url launched points at my old server name rather than the new one.
I have raised a call with SAP and have so far done the following things
Notes : 1297849 & 805344 - Everything pointed to new server
Notes 1301106 & 669669 - I have patched ABAB & JAVA AND updated the Content in the SLD
Note 624282 : Transaction LCRSERVADDR contains no entries and the SLDCHECK launches the correct SLD info.
None of these notes resolved my issue
Secondly
In transaction SMSY my solution manager settings are not correct - The ABAP stack is correct the message server points to the new message server, however the JAVA stack message server still points to the old system. I have tried to delete but I am unable to as I get the message system in use in Groups / Landscapes. SAP have done work on my server as part of the SURGEN programme and I'm sure this is something they have done that I am not able to remove.
Please help.
Regards
Tracey Smith. (John Beard - Corporate account for Kelda Group)You are using client 100 for example. It seems so that the UME store from the Java stack still points to the 001 client (probably you made a client copy on ABAP side from 001 to 100????). The CTC want to check SOLMAN_ADMIN user in the system where the UME destination is set (in this case 001).
So basically you got now 2 options: redirect your Java UME to client 100 or you simply create the required user SOLMAN_ADMIN in 001 client. -
Windows 7 Client 'sees' an old version of windows 2012 server share
Hi All,
I have a problem which seems to be a common theme looking at other threads. Here's the overview of the problem:-
I have multiple windows 7 clients and a windows 8.1 client within a 2008 Server in a domain.
I also have a Windows 2012R2 Server which is not joined to the domain. There is a Share on the 2012R2 which has the Caching Option turned off. Everyone full control on Share & File permissions.
One of the Windows 7 machines in Explorer when it looks at
\\2012server\share sees an old version of the folder. It seems that SMB 2 chaching is working too well. Not even pressing F5 or clicking View, Refresh updates windows explorer.
It took a reboot to get the workstation to see the up to date contents of the share on the 2012 server.
We don't seem to have that behaviour with that client against the 2008 server.
I have seen this behaviour on another machine un-related to us at another location which was in a workgroup with a 2012 server and no domain.
Questions:-
Is there some sort of problem with Windows 7 workstations working against 2012 Servers in a non-domain setting or is it just Windows 7 against 2012 servers period?
I understand that Windows 7 utilises SMB1 & SMB2. SMB2 introduced caching. If the server has turned off the share cache option should the client cache the contents of the share or the information about the files & folders & 'file not found'
information?
I want to open a file handle to a file on a network share so I can read and write data to it. But I also want to know that when I look at the folder to open the file I'm actually looking at the live version of the folder and files in the folder and
not a cached version of the folder. If it's a cached version the file might be there already but I won't see it.
Is there an API call that tells the client to get a fresh view of the server share so I can be absolutely sure that when I look for a file on the server I'm getting the correct answer and not one from cache.
I first posted the question with the same subject "Windows 7 Client 'sees' an old version of windows 2012 server share" in the Windows 7 Networking Fourm
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/23bf3627-987b-4c27-8062-85a284a2cda4/windows-7-client-sees-an-old-version-of-windows-2012-server-share?forum=w7itpronetworking and it was suggested I repost in here. Please do take the time to read
the thread which will save time with suggestions that have already been covered.
As the computers that can be affected by this problem are not mine I cannot enforce or guarantee that any of my 'client base' will apply any hotfixes. I will also not have the ability to tweak registry settings as I can't guarantee Admin Access.
It seems that we need to go back to SMB1 as all the tweaks to SMB since those days have introduced problems with the basic requirement of sharing files from a share on a server for Read/Write purposes. I have tried turning a network back to SMB1 and that
has resolved a lot of the issues but then I found a post/MS blog that states not to leave the network on SMB1
The Caching option of the share had already been turned off. Surely Windows clients should not cache any information about the share but I think that is not the case.
Thanks is advance
RobertHi Shaon,
Thanks for looking into this.
If this is a known issue, why isn't the hotfix rolled into a general windows update if this is a known problem? However this doesn't just affect domain joined workstations.
Surely it's basic functionality for a networked computer to access files and folders on a network file server. It's what networks were invented for at the end of the day.
I am unable to apply hotfixes to these computers that are having the problem due to the fact they are not mine but my customers.
At one of my customers sites I disabled SMB2 from the server and network clients as well as disabling the network adapter power saving option. This seemed to resolve the issues that I saw on one client that seemed to be 30 minutes behind the rest of
the network. The hotfix you link to states that it is for Domain joined computers. At my customer site the PC's are not in a domain at all, just a workgroup with workstations and a 2012r2 server. Will the hotfix be applicable to non-domain machines?
Also many clients seemed to loose the file handle to an open file on the server. I'll get them to turn SMB2 back on at some point after I send out some updates but all the problems I see seem to be caused by the caching functions in SMB2. SMB1 is good and
stable. It's SMB2 that seems to be causing the problems as it was designed from the ground up for caching.
Has this networking issue been resolved in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10?
As I am unable to apply a hotfix to 1000's of PC's that are not mine, is there an API call or something where I can get the windows client to stop lying and get me the current state of a folder on the server?
Will Turning off ClientSideCaching fix the issue? HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MrxSmb\Parameters\

Or will every machine need to be tuned individually according to the following guide:-

Where in migration process does old server stop functioning as primary server?
I am migrating from a SBS 2003 box to a new WS 2012 R2 Essentials box - following the instructions from
"Migrate from Previous Versions to Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials or Windows Server Essentials Experience". What I need to know is where in the process does
the old server stop functioning as a server for my network. What I mean by this is when in the migration process (when I add the new server as a replicate DC? not until I demote the old server?) will any programs/databases on the old server no
longer be available to client computers?
Thanks for any insight.Yeah, we need to agree on what is meant by "the server". In Windows, Server means many different things. Each time you move, a role or feature from the "old" to the "new" the old server ceases to function as "the server"
for that role or feature. The basic functions of a Windows DC include Active Directory, 5 FSMO roles, file and print services, and application services to name just a few.
So the answer to your question is more to do with what you mean by "server". In particular, for the application role, you must move the app to the new server by whatever means the developer recommends. At that point, regardless of whatever
else is going on the old server is out of the picture for that application.

Shortcut to new server volume mounts old server
I have recently transferred all files from a Windows NT Server and a Windows 2000 Server to an OSX Tiger Server. I duplicated the files to the new server using Retrospect but have left copies on the old server in case anything was missed.
On my four OSX Panther G4s, I have mounted the new server and created shortcuts (aliases) to the new volumes. Three of them work fine. On the fourth G4, however, the aliases to the new server mount the volumes on the old server! I have deleted all the aliases and recreated them to no avail. I have deleted the aliases to the old server entirely and all is well until it becomes necessary to mount the old server. Even if the old server is mounted manually, the next time the aliases to the new server are used, they will mount the old server.
All four G4s access the servers via AFP because we still have OS9 workstations which need to access the same files.
Any suggestions?
PowerMac G4 Mac OS X (10.4.4) ServerHi There!!!!
In Exchange 2010, clients do not connect directly to the mailbox role, they go through the
CAS role, so it sounds like you need to set the RPCClientAccessServer to point to the new Exchange 2010 server.
Do this via PowerShell :
GET-MAILBOXDATA | SET-MAILBOXDATABASE -RPCCLIENTACCESSSERVER <FQDN OF NEW CAS SERVER>
But as you have 160 mailboxes to migrate , which would be quite time consuming and needs lots
of efforts, so rather than opting manual way for migration I would refer you to do this using any professional Migration Software like Stellar Mailbox Extractor for Exchange Server, which can perform the Migration of 160 mailboxes in quick time. -
I've noticed FF 6.0.2 windows update faster and downloads stay active when the mouse pointer is over a FF window and moving. I've "played" with the download window. When I allow the pointer to just sit, the download usually stops. When I move the pointer, the download resumes. This is verified by the lights on the cable modem showing changes in internet activity.
The same appears true in cases like the FF help search. Type a question and hit return and screen stalls. Move the mouse and the screen refreshes.Hello,
I am not very familiar wth Microsoft Security Essentials, but believe that it just makes use of the existing Windows Firewall which is present with the operating system.
To me it is odd that the guest OS reports 192.168.1.254 as the IP address for its gateway and DHCP server yet it cannot access them when pinged. Let's try pinging from host to guest (and vice-versa) and see what happens:
From the host OS at 192.168.1.78, try pinging the guest OS at 192.168.1.75.
Then, from the guest OS at 192.168.1.75, trying ping the host OS at 192.168.1.78.
Is each operating system able to ping each other?

Need platform independent java code for TNS PING
Hi, I am able to ping server /ip address. but unable to ping some TNS entry.
There is one way to ping TNS entry using System command, but that will make my code platform dependent. i want platform independent code.. need code help for TNS Ping to database server.. here are my code:
---Code for server / Ip address ping:---------
package DBM;
import java.io.IOException;
import java.net.InetAddress;
import java.net.UnknownHostException;
import java.util.ArrayList;
import oracle.net.TNSAddress.*;
public class PingServer
public static void main(String[] args)
System.out.println(" Server Pinging Starts...");
ArrayList<String> list=new ArrayList<String>();
list.add("g5u0660c.atlanta.hp.com");
list.add("g1u1675c.austin.hp.com");
list.add("gvu1785.atlanta.hp.com");
list.add("10.130.14.109");
list.add("10.130.0.173");
list.add("DESCRIPTION = (SDU = 32768) (enable = broken) (LOAD_BALANCE = yes) (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = gvu1515.atlanta.hp.com)(PORT = 1525))(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = gvu1785.atlanta.hp.com)(PORT = 1525)");
list.add("IDSENGI");
//This Ipadd variable is used to convert the arraylist into String
String ipadd="";
try
for(String s: list)
ipadd=s;
// InetAddress is class.in this class getByName()is used to take only string parameter.
InetAddress inet = InetAddress.getByName(ipadd);
//InetAddress inet1 =InetAddress.getAllByName("IDESENGP");
System.out.println("Sending Ping Request to " + ipadd);
//in InetAddress call IsReachabe(3000)method is used to ping the server IP and if ping is successfully then return true otherwise false.
//IsReachable()take time in millisecond and return type is boolean.
System.out.println("Host is reachable: "+inet.isReachable(3000));
System.out.println("Server Pinging program is working fine........");
catch (UnknownHostException e)
System.err.println("Host does not exists");
catch (IOException e)
System.err.println("Error in reaching the Host");
----Code for TNS ping using system host----
package DBM;
import java.io.*;
public class doscmd
public static void main(String args[])
try
Process p=Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c tnsping IDSENGP");
p.waitFor();
BufferedReader reader=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()));
String line=reader.readLine();
while(line!=null)
System.out.println(line);
line=reader.readLine();
catch(IOException e1) {}
catch(InterruptedException e2) {}
System.out.println("Done");
The above two codes are working absolutely fine... but need TNS ping program is platform dependent..we need to deploy it in both windows, unix...
Please help.You don't need to install another JDK, just use the api from 1.2 and you should be fine. You can even use the 1.4 jdk to compile as if it were 1.2 by using the -target option in javac.

Identity Server under Windows 2003
Hi All,
can I run Identity server under Windows 2003 Server ? And, is planed Identity server version for Linux ?
Thank You
Lada D.A 4.0.1 backup can be restored on the new server - even if it is running 4.1 or 4.2. I don't believe the backup will carry over anything specific to the old server's IP address. I'd recommend that you keep the same hostname (DNS-wise) - especially for things like the server's SSL certificate - although that too won't be part of the application backup so you can give the new server a new name if the customer is strongly set on that.
Note that you may change to soft appliance platform at this point. If the customer has a VMWare environment available, I'd strongly suggest considering this option. the soft appliance is a breeze to install and setup.
In either case, please refer to the installation guide for details. -
Delete the DNS delegations pointing to this server
Good morning,
I'm getting ready to decommission my Windows Server 2008 R2 server and replace it with a Windows Server 2012 R2 (completely new hardware). After I decommission my current DC I will reboot it, change its IP address and name and then reboot it again.
I am then going to give the new server the old IP and name of my old DC (so basically the name and IP address of the active DC will not change). I'll then promote this server back into the domain. Since the new DC in the end will have the
same IP and NAME as the old DC, should I uncheck the "Delete the DNS delegations pointing to this server" when I decommission the old DC since the new one would have the same name? Thanks!You can uncheck it and then promote it. Once done, make sure that the new DC is set under
Name Servers tab in your zones properties.

I needed to move my exchange 2010 server to new hardware. So, I built the new server, loaded Exchange 2010 on Windows 2008, created send/receive connectors, changed the firewall to point my external ip address to the new server, installed a new ssl,
moved all the mailboxes and public folders to the new database. Everything seems to be working fine, and I want to try shutting down the old server this weekend.
However, I just tried to telnet to the new server on 25 and I get:
421 4.3.2 Service not available
Connection to host lost.
Transport service is running. Did I miss something?OK, now a new question: I have IIS, connectors, transport, etc. running on both servers. I believe I've don everything I need to do to decommission the old server. However if I check the client machines they're still pointed at the old
server name. I changed the IP address for autodiscover to the new server in DNS.
Other than shutting down the old server, is there a method of turning off IIS and Exchange services to force all clients to configure for the new server? I'd rather not just shut down the old server and risk getting a lot of phone calls if there's
something else that needs to be done before uninstalling exchange. -
Central Administration links point to wrong server
I have 4 machines in my farm. I used Central Administration - Server - Services on Server to change the location where the Central Administration service runs to a different machine. Now, even though the Central Admin website is running on the new box, the
links in the Health list all point to the old CA server. I can manually open up each list item and ask it to 'Reanalyze' but, once it is done, the links still point to the old server.
What am I missing? Is there a Timer job or Workflow that is supposed to change something. (I am surprised this is using absolute links. Shouldn't SP be putting relative links onto the list?)Thanks for your reply but unless you have actually done this and seen that the health reports suddenly have a working URL for each of multiple machines then I'm not sure PSConfig is the answer. I was able to turn off the CA service and unprovision one of
the instances with PowerShell. So, the site is working but just not the health links.
This looks like a bug to me. Even if I go through the PSConfig process and add CA to a new server, now how will it know which URL to put into the Health list items? I just really don't want to run PSConfig on a production server unless I really, really have
to. It does more than I want it to.
Can anyone else confirm whether the Health links are broken on some CA machines and not others? -
Lync Edge server on windows 2012 R2 prequistes
What, if any, are the perquisites for install lync 2013 edge server on Windows 2012 R2. I have looked around and only found information for Windows 2012 and it requiring WIF 3.5. Is this required for R2 as when you go to install it you get:
is it required and do I require anything else?
ThanksHi,
Agree with Georg.
What’s more, you can refer to the link of “Installing Lync 2013 Edge Server”, it is Windows Server 2012 Standard or Datacenter, but similar for Windows Server 2012 R2:

Server 2008R2 - Windows cannot log you on because your profile cannot be loaded
Hi guys.
I have a server SEXXX01 - Windows 2008 R2 OS.
Im having major issues to login to this server.
This was reveled when a person tried to login to the server and got the error "Cannot log you in, unable to load profile"
What we did was to remove the account, completly, we did this manually aswell(not very smart I know).
We also removed the registy profile.
But. Now no new accounts can be made to login. The old "local accounts" can still login, but no new ones.
You cant even create a new user in AD, add that user to the server. It still gives the same error.
I have an admin account that still is avaible to login. But no other accounts are able to.
When I create a new account, no folders are created, no register path is created.
The weird part is that I created a temp-admin account on the server and it worked for a little while yesterday, out of the blue(no changed were made). But now its back to not working again
This is what I have done so far:
I have checked the register for S-I-D numbers that might be faulty, but there are none for the new accounts that are made or for the original account that failed.
Tried to add new accounts as administrators, still the same problem.
checked if there is a problem with the "default user" folders, none at all.
Added, removed, changed the rights for the accounts.
Looked at the local GPO, nothing weird
This is the error msgs I get from the event viewer:
event ID: 1500
Windows cannot log you on because your profile cannot be loaded. Check that you are connected to the network, and that your network is functioning correctly.

for C:\Users\XXXXX\ntuser.dat
The errors with the system resources seems weird. The server has 16GB of ram and not even 30% is used at this time.
So what could it be?
Why doesnt the server created user folders/registery files for new users?
Why does it give error about resources allocation, when it has more then enough?
Im just at the dead end. I have no idea how to proceed.
All help is very appriciated.

How do I stop mavericks from looking for an old server and nagging me that it can't find it?
MacBook Air running OS X 10.9.4
Had it set up to connect to my main iMac for shared files. Wife complained that when my iMac wasn't on the MacBook constantly nagged her with a message saying it couldn't connect to the server (my iMac).
Removed sharing on my iMac. Removed recent server list from the MacBook Air. Removed my iMac from the finder side bar in the MacBook. Now the MacBook Air constantly naggs us that it can't find the server (name of my iMac). I just want the @#$@# thing to shut up, quit looking for the iMac and be quiet.
Need help as I can't figure this one out.
PLEASE!!There are many possible causes for this issue, and it may be hard to resolve. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
If you get the alert in the login screen before you log in, stop here and ask for instructions.
Step 1
If you get the alert as soon as you log in, it's probably caused by one of your login items or by software that otherwise loads at startup or login. Ask if you need help identifying it. A known offender is "AdobeResourceSynchronizer," which is a component of some Adobe products. See also this discussion.
Step 2
If there's an icon representing the server in the sidebar of a Finder window, hold down the command key and drag it out.
Step 3
In the Finder, press the key combination command-K or select
Go ▹ Go to Server...
from the menu bar. In the upper right corner of the window that opens is a Recent Servers popup menu represented by a clock icon. From that menu, select
Clear Recent Servers…
and confirm. Test.
Step 4
Open the Printers & Scanners pane in System Preferences and delete any network devices you no longer use.
Step 5
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing command-C:
~/Library/PDF Services
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. A folder may open. If it does, move the contents to the Desktop, or to a new folder on the Desktop. Log out and log back in. Test. If there's no change, put the items you moved back where they were and continue.
Step 6
Open the folder
~/Library/Preferences
as in Step 5 and move the file named "loginwindow.plist" items in that folder to the Trash, if it exists (it may not.)
Log out and back in again, and test.
Step 7
Other possible causes are references in the iPhoto, iTunes, or iMovie library pointing to the server, and bookmarks in the Preview application.
Try rebuilding the iPhoto library.
Step 8
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up. Start up in safe mode. Test. After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Step 9
Triple-click the line below to select it:
/System/Library/CoreServices/Directory Utility.app
Rght-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* The application Directory Utility will open.
In the Directory Utility window, select the Directory Editor tool in the toolbar. Select Mounts from the Viewing menu in the toolbar, and/Local/Default from the node menu, if not already selected. On the right is a list of names and values. By default, the list is empty. If it's not empty, post a screenshot of the window and stop here.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). Open a TextEdit window and paste into it (command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.
Step 10
Open the following file as you did in the last step:
/etc/auto_master
It will open in a TextEdit window. The contents should be exactly this:
# Automounter master map
+auto_master # Use directory service
/net -hosts -nobrowse,hidefromfinder,nosuid
/home auto_home -nobrowse,hidefromfinder
/Network/Servers -fstab
/- -static
If there are any other lines in the window, post them. Otherwise, close the window.

Which imac? Which hard drive?
Have an old purple imac with dead hard drive. Have removed drive, and would like to replace drive, but cannot determine which model imac it is, since the drive is not working. It's at least a 350, because it's slot-load. This drive is a Quantum 30 GB
