Tnsping report server on web server.

Am trying to tnsping a report server specified in both the reports and web servers within their respective tnsnames.ora but still not able to tnsping the report server name. Any proven way of how this is done?
Thanks.

Thanks for that Ratheesh
Resolved both(one) issue.
Within sqlnet.ora
the is a names.default_domain
within this you set the default
domain, in my case oracle was not
seeing this default setting, so
within tnsnames.ora, the manuals tell you
to use .world or nothing at all.
In fact you can user repserver.domain
when you're assigning the repserver alias.
Very very infuriating stuff, but goes
back to the fact that sqlnet's default
domain definition is not being recognised
for some reason in some (my!) instance.

I am trying to configure my web server to run reports on the web. I have followed the instructions provided by Oracle, but some is not clear. When i try to run report on the browser, i get the following error:

The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The headers it did return are:
Oracle documentaion say the following about the steps to configure the web server:
1-Start your Web server by entering the following:
    2-Start your browser.
    3-Create a listener.
4-Configure your Web server mapping and note the physical and virtual directories. For example:
I have done all the steps above except creating a listener. The documentation doesnt explain that step at all.
I have created a cgi-bin directory and made it excetable and copied the rwcgi60.exe from reports server machine to the web server machine. I also copied the TNSNAMES entry for the web server from the reports server machine to the web server machine.
Here is the command i use(just trying to make sure that web CGI is responding, but it doesnt work)

Other question: On the server machine, i have 3 oracle directories: ORA81, ISUITES, 806, which one should be the home directory for the reports to work on the web??
    I am using oracle 8.1.7 with 9iAS release 1.

  • SQL 2012 R2 - SSRS with the Report Server Web Service URL, can't access

    Hello:
I am installing Dynamics CRM 2013.  When I am on RS Configuration manager; I am running into the SSRS (SQL 2012 on Server 2012)SQL issue, can't access the
    http://servername/:80/ReportsServer or
    http://servername/:Reports web pages
The database server has SSRS native mode installed, it is using a domain account for the service credentials.  This account also has permission to log on a service in the GPO
Account is a domain admin and is a local administrator
SQL server is 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2012.  User base is less than 60 people and they have SharePoint 13 on the same SQL server.  Server more than enough resources.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks..Dan

    Hi DCas1,
According to your description, you could not access
http://servername/:80/ReportsServer or http://servername/:Reports web pages from Reporting Services configuration manager, SSRS in configured in native mode and the account you used is a local administrator.
In Reporting Services, URLs are used to access the Report Server Web service and Report Manager. Before we can use either application, we need to configure at least one URL each for the Web service and Report Manager. If we are using the Reporting Services
Configuration tool to create or modify the URLs, we can accept the default values for a URL or specify custom values. When we create a report server URL, we must specify the following parts: Host name, port and Virtual directory. In order to improve the efficiency
of troubleshooting, I need to ask several questions:
Since the default URL is http://<computername>/reportserver, did you type the URLs manually? or the URLs configured in Reporting Services configuration manager are
    http://servername/:80/ReportServer and
    http://servername/:Reports?
Could you provide detailed information of error log(default location: %programfiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles)?
For more information about Configuring a URL, please refer to the following documents:

  • I plan to upgrade the SSRS 2005 SP2 enterprise edition in our internal web server to 2005 SP4, the Reporting server database is hosted in another sql server in sql server 2005 SP4. Do I need to do anything on the reporting server database side?

My question is what the steps do I need to take to upgrade SSRS from 2005 SP2 to SP4.  The web server that host the SSRS is in 2005 SP2, and the OS is in window 2003.
Our SSRS report server and report server database are in different servers.  The SSRS in the web server is in 2005 SP2 enterprise edition, the report server database is in sql server 2005 SP4 enterprise edition.
To upgrade the SSRS in web server from 2005 sp2 to sp4, do I need to backup/restore the encryption key?  Nothing will be changed in the report server database.  We will still pointing to the same database in the current server, all
I wanted to do is performing a inplace upgrade of SSRS from 2005 SP2 to SP4.
Any response will be greate appreciated.  Thank you!
    Li-hui Chen

    Hi Lihui Chen,
According to your description, you want to install the Services Pack 4 for SQL Server. Right?
In SQL Server, Services Packs are used for fixing issues of current version product. It's not an Upgrade, you don't have to backup/restore your encryption key. You just need to download the Service Pack 4 on:
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 4 RTM  . Please make sure you have administrative rights on the computer to install SQL Server 2005 SP4. For more information, see links below:

  • Web Intelligence Report Server - Error: Failed to run rexec. Error number

    Hello,
I post a message in this forum :
"When i want to start "Web Intelligence Report Server" with CMC, i've got this error :
Web Intelligence Report Server: Echec du démarrage/de l'arrêt du service sur l'ordinateur distant : Error: Failed to run rexec. Error number: %12.
    Any idea ?"
    I've do this command :
    bouser@v-bo-1 bobje$ ./ccm.sh -restart ras
    bouser@v-bo-1 bobje$
but i have always the same error "Error: Failed to run rexec. Error number: %12".
    Thanks

Please try to avoid posting duplicate forum posts.
    This command :
    bouser@v-bo-1 bobje$ ./ccm.sh -restart ras
Restarts RAS server and has nothing to so with WebIntelligence.
To be able to Start/Stop servers from CMC, you have to have rexec running on your Unix box.
Google rexec for more information on what it does and ask your Unix admin to enable it.

  • Unable to create a reports server to test web.show_document in Forms 10.1.2

    Hi all,
In Forms 10.1.2 DS, I'm trying to use the web.show_document built-in to 'generate' a report from a .jsp file. This JSP file was created by wizard through creating a report object in the Object Navigator. The code I'm using from a push button is as follows:
    web.show_document('http://<hostname>:8889/reports/rwservlet?report=<dirpath>\Sales.jsp&userid=<username/password@connectstring&server=<server_name>'
As far as I am aware no 'reports server' has been created so I've tried the following command in a dos window:
    rwserver -install <server_name>
but this just raises an 'alert' indicating that I should consult an installation guide to setup and install the server. So my questions are:
    (1) Is what I'm trying to do supported in DS?
    (2) What installation guide should I consult?
Any information on this would be gratefully appreciated,
    Kevin.

    Hi Inol,
Thanks for the response. I agree with the comment about exposing user details, I'm just doing a bit of experimenting at the moment! I tried to do what you suggest in terms of changing the URL but whether I reference the server or leave it out, the subsequent browser session seems to hang and then eventually I get a 'Page Not Found' response. On using the URL 'http://127.0.0.1:8889/reports/rwservlet/showenv?', I get an 'Access Denied' Error Page. Is there something additional I need to set up with regards to Reports to get this to work?
    regards,
    Kevin.

  • Report Server Web Urls

    Hi,
    SQL 2008R2 (Standard)
    Windows Server 2012
Having problems accessing SSRS on a new commissioned SQL server.  In the "Web Service URL" page of the "Reporting Services Configuration Manager", I'm clicking on the link next to the label "Report Server Web Urls".  I'm
prompted for a domain username/password, none of which appear to work - the credentials box just keeps reappearing.
I know these credentials are OK as one of them is my own domain username/password.
There is nothing around this time in the event log or the SQL server log(s),  however there are a number of these much earlier on:
Login failed for user '***\*****'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: <local machine>]
I have since rebooted the server and tried again, same result but there is nothing of value in the logfile
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles
Or in the logfiles available from SSMS.
    Any ideas?

    Hi The real Slartibartfast,
According to your description, when you tried to access SSRS on a new server, you got the error message: Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: <local machine>].
State 11 corresponds to “Valid login but server access failure”, which means that SQL Server was able to authenticate you, but weren't able to validate with the underlying Windows permissions. It could be that the Windows login has no profile or that permissions
could not be checked due to UAC. To troubleshoot the problem, please refer to the following steps:
If the login is directly mapped to the list of available logins in the SQL instance, then check if the SID of the login matches the SID of the Windows Login.
Turn off UAC or running SSMS as administrator.
For more information about specific Login Failed error messages, please refer to the following blog:

  • Web Intelligent Reporting Server not started

Hi Experts - I am using BO XI 3.1 with Sp - 2 and SAP BI 7.10.
When i run any webi report  the Status of Web Intelligent Reporting Server become - Initializing.
If i restarts the the SIA , Again the Webi Intelligent server got start , but as i run any webi query in webi rich client it stops working and the status in CCM become Initialising... and its never turn up green untill i again restarts the SIA.
Is this a bug in Sp -2 , I haven't apply ant fix pack beyond Sp-2.
    Thanks
    Ashwani

    Hi
can you please activate the tracing of the webi processing server. Go to the CMC and under Servers->Web Intelligence Processing Server->Properties just add -trace xl in the command line argument and restart the server. Check the WebI log file created in the logging directory for error messages.
    Regards,

PS: Does your SIA run using the local system account (CCM->SIA->Properties->Logon On As)?

  • How to use sql report server web service (SSRS) in flex/actionscript

    Hi,
I am trying to create a web page, that displays a report from my company's report server. I manage to import the ReportExecutionServiceService, but can't figure out how to get the report. anyone know where i can find good documentation of SSRS's WSDL (not on MSDN it didn't do much good)? or better does anyone know what steps are needed (what fields to use / initialize etc.)?

    Hi Sanjay
First you create a report using the data source in Crystal Reports DesignerStand Alone Application and then save it to repository.
This is the easiest way to do it.
You can refer to Crystal Reports User guide and also BOXI Admin guide for the version you are using.
You can download the above from help.sap.com
    Hope this helps!!

  • Viewing Crystal Report Server reports in web application

I would like to create a .net web application (Visual Studio 2005) to connect to a Crystal Reports Server (XI R2), retrieve a list of reports and then view the reports in crystalreportviewer embedded in the app. Since the BusinessObjects XI .Net Providers does not include crystalreportviewer, it looks like I will need to use Crystal Reports .NET for VisualStudio runtime.
    1) Even though the third party would have a licensed Crystal Reports Server would they need an additional license for the use of crystalreportviewer provided in the Crystal Reports .Net runtime?
    2) Is there another option for using crystalreportviewer without installing the entire crystal reports .net runtime? The reports will  not be modified in any way, they will just be viewed in a web app. I have previously used OpenDocument to view the reports, but that is not an option in this case.
    Thanks,
    Coleen

    Hey koko1313,
I understand that you are looking for the crystalreportviewer control.
You can get the viewer by installing the sdk from the CRS XIR2 installation disc.
    Insert disc,
    do a custom install,
Unselect all components and select 'businessobjects enterprise .net sdk' from under Client components and finish the installation.
The above steps should update the viewer on you dev box.
Note that sdk should be installed the similiar way on any machine where you deploy the app. No need for sdk if you are deploying to a box with CRServer XIR2 installed.
I do not know anything regarding the licensing question for third party, but cr.net sdk custom app a separate license need to be purchased by third party.Sorry!
    cheers!!!

  • Crystal Reports Server 8.5/Web Reporting Launch Kit/Crystal Enterprise 8.5

I have an old IIS 5.0 server which is serving up our company's Crystal 8.5 reports.  The time has come to decommision that server, so I would like to migrate the IIS configuration to a new server.  However, I have been unable to locate the media necessary to install the server side component on the new IIS server.  The first question I have is, what is the product name I should be looking for?  My research has been inconclusive, identifying Crystal Reports Server 8.5, Web Reporting Launch Kit, and Crystal Reports 8.5 Enterprise Edition as possible product names.  My second question is, how can I go about obtaining replacement media for the product?  Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hi Peet,
The software might work on windows 2008 server. However, if there are any error messages or bugs found while using it will not be addressed as the product has not be tested on this platform. (As also the technical support for versions 9.2 and earlier has already ended, so Product Group no longer works on the bugs or supported platform for these products.)
A better idea would be to install the products CR 10 and higher on Operating Systems which have been tested. That ways you can be sure that the the product is supposed to work correctly on a particular setup.
Please do let us know your thoughts about it.
    Cheers!

<p>Hi,</p><p>I&#39;m trying to setup for the first time a Crystal Reports Server XI R2 and put a couple of reports onto the server.  This is so I can access the reports on the crystal reports server using using the crystal web services and finally display the reports in an ASP.NET web application.</p><p>So far I have installed the server, created a couple of reports, put them on the server, and tested to see that I can access the reports using the Central Management Console.  This all works fine and the reports are returned.</p><p> Ok, now for the bit that&#39;s not working.</p><p> I&#39;ve got a C# ASP.NET web application, and I&#39;ve followed a couple of <a href="http://support.businessobjects.com/documentation/product_guides/cr_net/vs_2005/html/crtsktutorialsotherdynamicpulldownwebservicehelpermethod.htm" target="_blank" title="Adding a Helper Method to Access Crystal Reports Web Services">tutorials</a> to give me an idea of what I should be doing to use the Web Services that are provided:  </p><ul><li>ServerFileReportManager.asmx</li><li>ServerFileReportService.asmx </li></ul><p>However, it appears that when I list the child objects on the crystal server:</p><blockquote><font size="2" color="#008080"><font size="1"><em><font size="2"><p><font size="1">serverFileReport = <font color="#0000ff">new</font> <font color="#008080">ServerFileReport</font>();<br /></font><font size="1">serverFileReport.ReportPath = <font color="#800000">""</font>;<br /></font><font size="1"><br />reportManagerRequest = <font color="#0000ff">new</font> <font color="#008080">ReportManagerRequest</font>();<br /></font><font size="1">reportManagerRequest.ExtraData = serverFileReport.GetExtraData();<br /></font><font size="1">reportManagerRequest.ParentUri = serverFileReport.ToUri();<br /></font><font size="2" color="#008080"><font size="1"><em><br />ReportManagerResponse</em></font></font><font size="1"><em> reportManagerResponse = <font color="#0000ff">new</font> <font color="#008080">ReportManagerResponse</font>();<br />reportManagerResponse = serverFileReportManagerProxy.ListChildObjects(reportManagerRequest);</em></font></p></font></em></font></font></blockquote><p><font size="1"><font size="1">I always get a</font> <font size="2"><font size="1"><em>reportManagerResponse.ReportUris</em></font></font></font><font size="1"> with a count of 0.  Now the thing is I know that I have a couple of reports on the Crystal Server, but for some reason they&#39;re not been picked up.   I must be missing something.</font></p><p><font size="1"><font size="1">Does anyone have any ideas??? Please</font>!</font></p><p>Many thanks in advance,<br />Chris</p><p>Current Set-up:</p><ul><li>Crystal Reports Server XI R2 (11.5)</li><li>Virtual Directory of the web services: crystalreportviewers115 </li><ul><li>(Physical Path - C:\Program Files\Business Objects\common\3.5\crystalreportviewers115)</li></ul><li>Development Environment: Visual Studio 2005</li></ul>

<p>I looks like your mixing technologies here.   You are using <strong>Crystal Report Server</strong> and the <strong>Crystal Report Web Services</strong> that come with Visual Studio.</p><p>I know that this might seem like they are the same product, and the naming does seem confusing but I&#39;ll try and make it easy for you to understand.</p><p><strong>Crystal Reports Server</strong> - This is a managed reporting solution which allows you to distribute your reports via the web.  It has features like scheduling and built in security.</p><p>It appears that you have a handle on what Crytal Report Server is from what you have been able to accomplish those far.  You have created your report and published it to Crystal Report Server and viewed it via the Central Management Console.  Crystal Reports Server has two methods for accessing the reports programatically.</p><p>1. The Enterprise SDK</p><p>2. The Web Services SDK</p><p><a href="/node/353">Check out this white paper that compares these two SDKs </a></p><p><a href="/node/256">This paper describes the Web Services SDK.</a></p><p>In the above paper there is a getting started section which points you to the Developer Library which shows you how to install the web services on your Crytal Reports Server machine.</p><p>Crystal Reports Server does not have the Business Object web services installed by default so I would suggest following the directions in the <a href="http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/BusinessObjectsXIR2/en/devsuite.htm">Developer Library.</a></p><p>The directions wont talk about Crystal Reports Server but these are the directions to get the Web Services installed. </p><p>There is another web services technology which you are writing code for which is called <strong>Crystal Report Web Services.  </strong>This technology comes with Visual Studio 2003.  It provides un-managed reports via webservices.  Un-managed means these reports are not published to Crystal Reports Server.</p><p>So basically your problem is that your code is for <strong>Crystal Report Web Services </strong>but you are trying to view reports published to <strong>Crystal Reports Server.</strong>  To take advantage of scheduling and security and web service access I would suggest using Crystal Reports Server and install the Business Objects Platform webservices to access the reports. </p><p>I hope that&#39;s clear.<br /></p><p>Rob Horne<br /><a href="/blog/10">Rob&#39;s blog - http://diamond.businessobjects.com/blog/10</a></p>
