To control brushless servo with cRIO

What do i need to control brushless servo with cRIO.
I'm asking this because of no motor driver and controller for this form.
In addion can i use the NI 9514 C Series Servo Drive Interface as controller ?
Thanks a lot
Umut

Umut,
you can use the NI 9514 for any motor drive that accepts a +/- 10 V command input signal. There is a huge number of vendors offering drives for BLDC motors with +/- 10 V interfaces. Here you can find some recommendations, but of course this is by far not a complete list.
Kind regards,
Jochen

  • BSOD controlling Nanotec servo (Labview+visa+Daqmx)

I'm using a set-up where I control a servo with Labview. I run the VI, set some speeds to the servo, and within minutes, Windows gets a BSOD. I would like to know the cause of the problem and a fix please.
    What am I using?
    - Windows 8.1 (and windows XP before)
    - Labview Student Ed 2014
    - NI Visa
    - NI Daq mx
    - USB to RS-485/422/232 Converter
    - Nanotec servo
    - Nanotec Labview example: http://en.nanotec.com/support/application-notes/labview-example/
    What happens?
I open the VI, set the com port. Run the VI and set some motor speeds. Within minutes windows 8.1 gives a Blue Screen, with the error MULTIPLE_IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS. In Windows XP, this gave the error IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. After rebooting, windows 8.1 shows Automatic Repair. 'Automatic repair couldn't repair your PC', and refers to C:\WINDOWS\system32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt.
This is 'Startup Repair diagnosis and repair log'. This gives some actions that take 0ms, untill finally:
Boot critical file c:\windows\system32\drivers\nipbcfk.sys is corrupt.
    Repair action: File repair
Result: Failed. Error code =  0x2
    Time taken = 8546 ms
Opening that file in notepad shows this: http://pastebin.com/dwp2X5er
Can anyone spot why Windows goes into a BSOD, and how this can be prevented?

It sounds like the installation of some NI drivers failed on your system. Can you please re-install those? I recommend to uninstall the current installed ones first.
Also, please try to install the latest driver versions. If you are using old drivers (e.g. from an out-dated driver DVD), it is possible that you have drivers installed which were never tested with Windows 8.1.

  • How do I control a servo-valve to open and close with Dasylab?

I am currently using a servo-valve to run an endurance test and would like to control it to open a close  at a set frequency rate and set pressure rate (6000psi). Is there a controller that I can use to do that?  I am using Dasylab with a NI Daq board and I get the pressure and flow readings from the analog to digital signals correctly but to actually control a servo which is powered with and external power supply to provide 25VDC.

It would be unwise to use DASYLAb to close a loop on a servovalve.
The best way to do that would be to buy a analog PID controller board, MOOG and Parker sells those, and use an anaqlog output from the NI card to controll it.
We did many tests using this way.
There are also other option like servo-controllers that could perform many tasks, like FG, conditioning, limits, and profiles and then use DASYLAb for Data acquisition.
The price for this solution would be of course higher.

  • Accelerometer sense tilt then interface with USB-6008 and generate PWM to control M995 servo motor

    hi everyone,
currently im doing a final year project in LabVIEW using USB6008. my project involve of sensing the tilt from accelerometer and convert the tilt into PWM to control the turning of servo motor.
accelerometer that im using is ADXL322 which has Dual axis ±2g sense range
servo motor that im using is M995. when the servo motor in neutral position it required 1500microseconds, while it turns 90degree it requires 2200microseconds and whilw it turns -90degree, it requires 800 microseconds.
currently im facing problem in generating the PWM signal to control the operation of servo motor.
attachment is my VI design that i have done to date.
the program is about attracting tilt range from accelerometer using USB NI 6008 and then convert the tilt into angle in degree, and after that generate PWM to control two servo motor.
hopefully there is somebody can help me on this. thanks.

  • Controlling Brushless maxon DC motrs using NI 6221 PCI Daq card

    Hi ,
I have a NI 6221 PCI Daq (M Series) card. I need to know how to use it to control a brushless DC motor from maxon with digital encoder? Also I need to know how to access the daq from matlab 7.0 as i am not familiar with labview and i need to know where i can get the matlab drivers for the card. Also i am trying to learn labview in the course of time. So it would be great if someone can give me some good tutorials in labview for motor control.

The lowest cost servo control option from NI is the PCI-7342 board which allows you to control two servo motors.
Please have a look at the datasheet for a detailed description.
Both, the 6221 and the 7342 provide synchronisation capabilities through the internal RTSI-Bus interface. This makes it easy to correlate e. g. analog values and motor positions.
As the 7342 doesn't provide power you will need to connect the board to an external drive.

  • Controlling a Resover with NI Motion

    Hello,
I have an application that requires the rotation of brushless servo motors.  However the motors have resolvers instead of encoders.  I was reading that NI Motion is not intended to work with resolvers.  I am wondering if there is a way around this so I can use these motors with NI Motion Controllers.
    Thanks... Wade

    Wade,
in most cases BLDC motors and their feedback signals are connected to a power drive, that does the commutation. Many of these 3rd party drives export an emulated quadrature encoder signal and they accept an external voltage as a torque or velocity command signal. This is a typical usecase where NI 73xx motion control boards act as postion control devices, while the lower level control loop is run by the drive.
There are many vendors on the market that provide drives with such features (e. g. Danaher (Servostar drives), SEW, Maxon,...).
    Does this answer your question?

  • Control a servo or stepper motor

    Hi
I have multifunctional DAQPad-6015. I want to control a servo or stepper motor. Is it possible to control the motor with this Device?
    regards

    Hi,
You probably need an additional power supply. there are many resources on the internet on motors. i even ran a stepper on parrallel port before. what you need to know is the sequence to step through the motor. you need to know the configuration of your motor. 4,5,6 wires. maybe check the manufacturer's website.

  • Difference between BLDC motors and Brushless Servo Motors

    Hi
I am new to the concept of motors and motor control. I dont know if I have come to the right place but it would be great if anyone can help me in finding out the differences between Brushless DC motors and Brushless Servo motors. Can I use NI motion controllers to control a Brushless DC motor?
    Regards,
    Suman.

    Suman,
Brushless DC motors and Brushless Servo motors mean typically the same thing. The word "servo" implies that a position feedback resource (e. g. a quadrature encoder) is used for closed loop control.
You can use NI motion controllers to control brushless motors. Please refer to this thread in the forums for more information.

  • Can I use ARD to control my mac with Back to my Mac service?

Can I use ARD to control my mac with Back to my Mac service?
The with Back to my Mac service on you see your mac in the Shared column, hit Share Screen & your good - on ARD I don't see my remote Mac listed anywhere in that program.
    Thanks

ARD, to the best of my knowledge, does not work via Back To My Mac. Certainly it's not an direct or obvious feature, though I can't say that there might not be a workaround I've not heard of.

  • I have a Text control string box with some initial text. I would like to highlight old text with click of mouse and type in new data from keyboard

I have a text control string box with some initial text (says: Please enter Name). I would like the operator to click on the text control box and have it automatically highlight so that when new data is typed in the old erases (all at once) and the new data is now in the text box.
I tried using the "Text.Selection" property node and when I run it and put the mouse inside the text box the initial text is highlighted and if I press "delete" on the keyboard or if I start to type in new data the initial data does delete but once I start to type new characters they erase each other. For example if I want to type in “Willi
am” I type the “W” and then the “I” but the “I” erases the “W” and now I am only left with an “I” in the text box and so on. I appreciate any help

It seems you are continuously setting the property node over and over again. This should only happen once if you mouse over it.
Create a property node for your text control with the following three items:
    (1) KeyFocus (wire a "true" constant to it)
    (2) Text.SelStart (Wire a "zero" constant to it)
    (3) Text.SelEnd (Wire a constant containing the string length of the text).
Put this property node inside an event structure, triggered by "Mouse enter" on the string control.
(see if the attached example works for you)

  • I can not control my cursor with the trackpad.  It moves randomly. It began after an Angry Birds update.  Anyone else have this problem?

I have a late 2011 OS X Lion 10.7.4 that is only 6 months old.  For the first 4 months I had no problems, but then about 6 weeks ago I downloaded an Angry Birds update from the Apple App Store, and my problems began.  When playing Angry Birds the the new Angry Birds update for the first time the cursor began to jump around, moving on it's own as if someone else was controlling it.  After a few moments I became obvious I could not control the cursor with the trackpad. When I placed the tip of my finger gently in the center of the trackpad to try to hold the cursor still it becan switching from the game (desktop) to launchpad and mission control.  I then put the computer down so I was not even touching it, walked several feet away and the cursor still moved on it's own.
I've done a lot of research over the last few weeks on related articles and realized this is a common problem with numerous different causes: PRAM settings,
screen sharing, remote settings, having fingers accidently touch edges of trackpad, writst resting too close to trackpad, swollen battery, etc. and I don't think it's due to any of those issues.
The problem came out of nowhere.  My computer stays at home, and is not used by anyone else.  At first it was just Angry Birds, but now it can happen at any time.  Sometimes hours or days go by when this does not happen, sometimes it happens so much I can't use the computer at all.  It can get so bad that I won't be able to click out of whatever I'm doing on my desktop, and I'll have to shut it down by holding the power button.
Has anyone else had this issue after updating Angry Birds?

try a new/fresh apple brand cable and make sure it is the only usb cable in use. this worked for me, i noticed i had no problem with a lighting cable. i did a restore from scratch and from backup and it did not help me...and if you cant sync than you wont be able to get anything but apps back after the restore

WIth LabVIEW how do I control an instrument with a RS232 output, using a RS232 to USB converter cable since I dont have rs232 ports. I have two instruments that I want to control in this manner. One is an Imada ZPS force gage with RS232 output. The other is a Panasonic HL-G103-S-J laser micrometer sensor which is RS422. I've done considerable LabVIEW programming using GPIB but I have no experience with devices like these. Any tutorial or examples would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I understand that you want to control a device which having RS 232 port as output. If so, you can use an USB-RS232 cable from PC to device and you can control or monitor the device.
    See this link http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2669
Also, first check the device in hyperterminal and then continue to program in labVIEW. You can find the serial VI's in Instrument I/O.

    14. Once my photos look the way I want, I then export them to JPEG. I have set up a Photoshop droplet for Lightroom that will then do all my sharpening after export.
That's it! I know it sounds like a lot of steps, but once you've done it a couple of times it goes by really quick. I'm really loving most things about Lightroom in terms of its cataloging and export options. But the image quality of the Lightroom raw conversions just isn't there yet. I've found by integrating both Capture NX and Lightroom I can get top quality results while still gaining advantage of Lightroom's many nice features. It took me a few days of exploration and experimentation to nail down the optimal workflow for my needs. Hopefully this will help some others out and maybe give them some ideas of their own toward a better workflow.
Please feel free to share your thoughts or own experience on all of this.
Thanks to Tony Long for his suggestion in this thread, which caused me to go on a search for the optimal Lightroom/Capture workflow: http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?7@@.3bc719df/3

  • Can Wireless Home Audio products be controlled via IP with any other devices?

I'm interested in knowing if the Wireless Home Audio Director, Conductor or Player can be controlled via IP with alternative controllers?  Specifically, I'm interested in integrating the products into a universal remote control or home control system and still have 2 way communications with feedback.  IP and RS232 are the most commons ways of accomplishing this.

    Hi,
Maybe for basic functions like (play, stop, next) using the IR remote, a third party IR based universal remote may work but that's a big gamble to take, anyway what would be the purpose then of the Linksys DMRW1000 (IP based remote control) remote that Linksys is selling if its compatible with third party remotes.

    Hi everybody
Iam using TPC-2012 module with cRIO 9074 device.I made exe file and deployed into the harddisk of TPC. We are getting input/output values  on TPC only when the Software loaded system is on,if we switch off the system,we wont get the input/output on the TPC.all are connected through LAN connection.

The best programming practice would be to create variables under the RT target (which means you are hosting the library on the RT target and not on the PC). You, then, just need to drag and drop the variables that you created into the TPC VIs block diagram.
If you are interested in TCP/IP, look up the examples in the Example Finder (Help -> Find Examples) or search on NIs website.
