Please do the following and report back if it solves your issue.
sudo ifconfig en1 mtu 1400
... or if you're on Ethernet (en0), go to System Preferences / Network / Ethernet / Advanced / Ethernet and set the configuration on Manual. Set the MTU to 1400.
This isn't the most optimal value, but it's low enough to account for the issues I've tested.
What seems to be happening is that the MSS value being sent by OS X is not accounting for the additional bytes required for the TCP optimizations that were added (timestamps in particular). So servers are probably trying to send larger packets than they should back to the client (You most likely).

It doesn't matter what you're using (Ethernet or Airport). They both default to an MTU of 1500 and therefore an MSS of 1460, which is too large for PPPoE users with timestamps enabled.
So reducing the MTU (temporarily - again, this is not a fix, it's a setting to prove that this is the issue) to 1400 now reduces the MSS to 1360 which is plenty small unless you've got a lot of tunnels in path which most people won't.
If we can confirm this is related to the problem that most people are having then we'll have a very solid case for what the bug is.

IOS 5.1 Created Intermittent Networking Issues - Log Bug?

I've been putting up with this defect ever since I switched over to the iOS 5.1. Having used iPhone since the original first-gen 16GB release (and 3 generations of iPhones after that) and not ever seeing this problem I'm quite sure of the timeframe of this change. I'd like to log a bug but it seems as if you can only do this if you're registered as an apple developer... is there another way? Although this issue isn't reproducible it occurs often enough that I see it at least a few times a week. The details of the problem are:
1. Network connectivity seems to drop permanently when trying to use the EDGE/3G/4G network in areas where the the signal strength is weak (this seems to be the trigger for the issue).
2. Resolving the issue requires either rebooting the iPhone or toggling Airplane Mode.
Other factors that my influence this:
1. I'm using AT&T's network so that may have a bearing on this particular issue.
2. I'm not switching to a wifi network while doing this- so it seems exclusively tied to the AT&T data network. However, I'd imagine that the bug may rear its head because the iPhone tries to switch to a wifi network when it doesn't see the data network available- note: I don't think the wifi dialog pops up when this happens so this is just speculation on my part.
3. I saw this start happening after upgrading to the 5.1 but not immediately after upgrading, but pretty soon afterwards. So, there could still be something else causing this- I provided the version 5.1 info because that may help Apple to try to figure out what changes introduced this problem so they can limit the scope of their investigation into this issue.
NOTE: I'm pretty sure this isn't hardware specific or specific to my phone. A friend has encountered the same issue. He told me that he works around the problem by toggling Airplane Mode (at the time I was rebooting my phone all the time which was pretty tedious). He saw the issue start happening around the same time I did.

1. did it also seem to correlate with iOS 5.1 for them?
2. is it AT&T specific?
3. is it iPhone 4 & 4S specific or does it apply to older iPhones running iOS 5.1?
4. is it only specific apps that access the data network (I regularly use Newsify, Mobile RSS, Flipboard so one of these may be causing the problem if it isn't a general networking issue)

Aperture 3.1 loop issues possible bug with CMYK/RGB numbers in loop?

I'm looking to find out if I'm not the only one with this problem:
After upgrading to 3.1, I've noticed that when I do my color correction of skin, by the numbers using CMYK in the loop, that on a number of images, I can no longer get the loop to read the numbers in the top third of the image. No differences in the camera used, import process, asset management, nothing about my process has changed.
Thoughts?

I'm using this as a work around for now but, what a bummer! I've tried to see if the issue is present on my other machines and using other cameras and - it still is. Since no one else has chimed in here to share if they are experiencing these loop issues, I'm wondering if it is just you and me. Maybe no one really uses the loop with color values to color correct their images.

After Lion upgrade, having network issues after wake from sleep

After upgrading to Lion from 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2011), I am unable to connect to the Internet after the computer wakes from sleep. I should rephrase this - I am able to ping IP's and DNS (DNS servers are present) however none of my apps will connect (Safari, iChat, etc) -> they all indicate the Internet is unavailable. I have two Airport Express's running 7.5.2 extending a WiFi network off an Airport Extreme running 7.5.2. This issue is specific to waking from sleep. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appriciated.

It's definitely linked to Time Machine and backups.
I think If I put my machine to sleep/close the lid and Time Machine happens to be performing a backup, when I open the lid again, the network connection is lost and I receive a bunch of errors about the backup disk being unavailable.
This means that if my mbp isn't in the middle of a backup when I put it to sleep, wifi comes back up without a problem.

MacBook Pro Bluetooth Mouse Issue - Possible Bug??

I recently purchased the new MacBook Pro and I have a weird issue with both the bluetooth Mighty Mouse and another Microsoft bluetooth mouse.
So first, I purchased the mighty mouse thinking it would work great with my new MacBook, however, after pairing it and turning up the scrolling to the highest setting it was still way to slow for movement across the screen requiring me to pick up the mouse and move it to get all the way across.
I had also installed Windows 7 on Parallels and was able to install my Microsoft Presenter Mouse 8000 on that with a dongle and it moved super fast just like I liked it. I had to use the dongle because for some reason Parallels didn't show the internal bluetooth. So I thought I would try using my Microsoft Presenter Mouse 8000 on the Mac side so I downloaded the Intellipoint 6.3 software that is made for mac and installed it on the machine then paired up my MS mouse. I then went in and set the settings to their highest settings for scrolling and once again I had the same issue as with the Mighty Mouse. Way too slow.
So then I took it to one of the Geek Squad guys at Best Buy in my area to see if he could figure it out and he was stumped as well. However, after playing with it a bit we discovered that if you went into the native keyboard/mouse settings in the system preferences folder and dragged the scrolling setting to it's lowest setting and then back to the highest setting the Microsoft Mouse would move super fast like it is supposed to. I got all excited, however, the problem is that as soon as you closed that dialog box it goes back to slow again. Weirdest thing ever.
So I have no idea what would cause that and would love some feedback from you all. I think it is a bug because in my opinion the Might Mouse should work better than anything else. Any thoughts anyone?

This problem can be caused because of the mouse pad. Try using a dark color one with no reflective glare. Sometimes the light bounces.

Having Network Issues with Multiple ATVs

I've never really had any problems with my ATV on my wireless network (Time Capsule 802.11n 5Ghz only range being extended to my upstairs (3rd floor) via Airport Extreme) until I added my 2nd ATV on the network yesterday. Almost immediately after doing so I got nothing but errors from both ATVs. They won't play any video (Says the format is not recognized) or connect to the iTunes store. I can't even play videos I just watched hours prior. I've tried doing a restore on both ATVs to factory, then reupdating them. I've also unplugged them for several minutes and plugged them back in. Both my Time Capsule & AirPort Extreme are up to date. When I remove 1 of the ATVs and restart the other everything is fine. My network also works with no problem when I leave both ATVs and remove the AirPort Extreme from the equation. I don't NEED the AirPort Extreme but it makes life easier because my printer plugs into it in the upstairs office that Time Capsule doesn't reach - that and the simple fact that I paid a lot of money for my AirPort Extreme when it came out and would like to be able to use it
Running a CAT6 cable to one of the ATVs is not a viable option at the moment so I need to see if I can find a work around using the wireless only. I suspect if I lower my network to the 2.4 Ghz range I won't have any issues but then I'm not getting the most from my internal network.
Basically, I am almost positive I can lower the internal speed of my network and get this to work but I'd really rather not because I'm constantly streaming and moving massive amounts of data across it. My question is, has anyone set up more than one ATV using a similar setup (802.11n 5Ghz range)? If so, did you have any of the same issues or not?
My goal: Be able to use both ATVs on my network with my Time Capsule & AirPort Extreme at the fastest speed available. I need to be able to extend the network with AirPort Extreme because it won't cover my entire home with just the Time Capsule.
Note: My Time Capsule & AirPort Extreme are not the newest models on the market so I do not have the option to do 802.11n 5Ghz with backward compatability to 802.11g. Also, my ATVs are both fairly old, purchased within a month after ATV was first launched. I've only used one until now because I lent the other to a friend until now.

Your second Apple TV is probably running the initial sync that will fill the entire hard drive with information. While this is happening your network will be crippled. I suggest waiting a day or two until the sync is complete.
Unfortunately, the fact that the second, syncing Apple TV doesn't function correctly when the first Apple TV is plugged in means you may have another problem (the sync should pause when playing media on that particular Apple TV, which means the above problem wouldn't apply). So you may have another problem altogether.

IPhone 4 Networking Issues - Possible Remedy -

After encountering WiFi issues with iPhone4 on a network with low connection
setting 58kps, it was suggested to me to 1. try only using channels 2 and 9 on router and 2) try turning 'cell data' off since the phone may try to use faster network, from what I could understand. I will try this, hope this may help someone else with similar issues. I was selecting E since I had 3G off and, I am told E is faster than 58KPS. I am still not sure why 58kps usd on that network.

OK EVERYONE HAVING BATTERY ISSUES LISTEN UP

I have been as guilty as evry one here by posting my voodoo solutions to the "battery drain" issue.
But like a broken clock I can be right @ least 2x . I think this is one of them.
By reading every post about battery issues in this forum over the past few weeks and experiencing some issues while I was on vacation last week got me thinking.
Then I went into some other forums- like the iPhone 3G forum here.
You can really learn something.
This battery drain issue has been around since 2.2 . It is apparently a function of the wifi chip getting hot and using lots of battery juice (i am paraphrasing and collapsing many pages of info).
Today I followed a link to someone's blog and followed 1 piece of advise... Turn off AutoBrightness.
Prior to turning off AutoBrightness I was experiencing load values of 0.53 0.48 0.46
after turning AutoBrightness off my load values are 0.13 0.15 and 0.14 - by the way with 3G turned on.
the other advise I can offer is to keep the iPhone cool - not by putting in the freezer (as some suggested) but by cupping in hand and not keeping it in pants pocket.. this may help with wifi reception as well- i will have to test that later.

I noticed while tracking this issue i noticed that my load spiked for no reason. i set out to figure why... last nite thinking i solved the issue i started to turn things back on- eg. skype "stay online".... then i saw in the processes "securityd" come flick off (i took screen shots to compare) after that i turned off skype "stay online" and securityd went away.
i think that something in the "securityd" process is burning batteries and somethings are keeping it alive - like skype- like not closing all safari windows when exiting safari...
i am just guessing and may be wrong-

I'm having network issues

I have an iphone, a Macbook Pro and my brand new Mac Pro (just got it today).
I live in a house with a few friends and one of them has a wirless router which we all connect to in order to get online. I can only connect 1 device at a time. I can either connect my iphone but not my laptop, my laptop but not my iPhone and my Mac Pro I at this time I cannot connect at all.
Any ideas? I have the correct login name and password.
Also, for my Mac Tower. I just set it up today. When I initially turned it on the OS asked if I wanted to hook up a firewire to any other mac an pull over all my information. Which I did.
Is there a chance the network router is getting my address mixed up?

To get your Mac Pro onto the Internet, first make certain that:
System Preferences > Network
... shows your network Interfaces strictly in the order you want to use them. If you want to connect via Wireless, drag Airpot to the top of the list and be sure it shows as ON.
Then double click on it and see if it can see the name of your Network, and try to join it.
Note that there is also an Assist Me button on that pane, that will ask you a few questions and try to help you make the connection for the first time, or diagnose the problem for an established connection that drops out.

Having an issue with GoLive - I need help!?!

I need to figure out how to "reset" setting on Adobe Go Live (CS2).
The other day all of a sudden, I lost all of the 'preview pane' buttons. It has layout and source still, but the two preview (pdf and regular) are missing. Also - all of the images are still there in the source and when you view the html in a browser, but in the main screen - all of the images now show a "broken image" icon.
What happened and how do I fix?

Are you importing commercial CDs or CD-Rs? If they are ones you made yourself the track names will be seen as Track 01, Track 02 etc. and the information has to be keyed in again by hand. For commercial CDs, you have to connect to the internet as iTunes picks up the track information from an online database. It will do this automatically if you are connected while you are importing or you can do it afterwards by connecting to the internet, highlighting the tracks and going to Advanced>Get CD Track names:

Network issue in iPhone 4 on iOS 6, iOS6.0.1, iOS 6.0.2, iOS 6.1, iOS 6.1.1 and iOS6.1.2

Ever since I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 last year. I am having network issues.
I have been monitoring my wife's android phone whenever I have a network issue on my phone (Both of us use the same provider and the same voice + data plan). The android phone has never had any network issues.
This rules out any issue with the provider and/or network issues.
Sometimes its the cellular data that does not connect or sometimes it doesnt connect to the network at all. I will have to do a cold start to get the phone up and use.
I expected this to be solved in all the subsequest fixes that were released. I am disappointed even with the iOS 6.1.2, the problem still persists.
By phone was superb when i was using it with iOS5. This iOS6 is a big disappointment.
The problem is even more when I am indoor. When everyone around have proper network on their phone, I read "NO SERVICE" on my phone.
My patience is running out now. I have been waiting for the past 5 months (a loyal apple fan) and I think I have to now take a decision. I cant make basic phone calls when I want and its really irritating when I see NO SERVICE when I want to make the call. Most of the time I end up switching the AIRPLANE MODE ON and then OFF to get the network again.
Sometimes the call drops and network goes off if I answer or make a call when my CELLULAR DATA is on (2G or 3G) or on Wifi.
Is there any solution to it?

How can i fix my iphone 3gs when i have network issues after updating to IOS 6.1.3 and avoid the connect to ITunes screen?

Im an owner of an Iphone 3gs.
When I updated my software to IOS 6.1.3 I started having network issues such as my phone would go on searching, it would search for signal and then No service after few minutes it would restart and when its on again it would show me Connect To Itunes screen, I tried connecting but nothing happens and if I just leave it as it is it will just keep on restarting and showing the same screen sometimes I might get lucky and the phone will start working again but No Service and if I turn on my 3G for the times Im outdoors it will just restart again so 3G is also another problem I have got. Today I decided to take it to an Apple Store, the guy restored it and now what happens is that it switches on and is showing me the connect to Itunes message but with black backround and i cant do anything it keeps on restarting and showing the same thing. Please if there is anyone that would like to spend some time with me to help me out, he would be more than Welcome.

IMac running 10.9 not rebooting after network issues

This is weird, and while I am going through Apple's Knowledgebase steps - so far without success - I thought I'd post here to see if anyone else experienced a similar issue.
I was having network issues (or what I think/thought were network issues) for about a week. The symptoms looked like high packet loss, i.e. websites would simply not load reliably: sometimes not load at all, sometimes load partially. This started with some smaller websites and eventually it failed to load google and facebook. It took me some time to notice that other devices on the same WiFi did not have this issue, so yesterday I decided to reboot my iMac. Network diagnostics didn't show any issue and I was able to connect to the WiFi router just fine, just not find any websites, so I thought a reboot may fix it.
I have not been able to boot it back up since. It stalls at the grey loading screen with Apple logo and a spinning wheel for ever (I've let it sit for hours). Safe boot does not work, and starting in Verbose mode hangs at "executing fsck_hfs" and it doesn't seem to do anything else. I've booted from the install disc (actually a USB drive) and ran Disk Utility from there, but it showed not disk errors at all. It did repair a handful of permissions (I only saw iBooks related stuff and something about etc/apache2/users), apparently successfully, but it's still not booting.
Disconnecting my external Time Machine drive and unplugging the iMac from my surge protector didn't help, either. I am now creating a new image from the partition just to have an additional backup on top of my Time Machine, and I'm going to try Archive and Install next, which is the next to last step in the Knowledgebase.
I do have two partitions on the Mac (one 10.9 and the other 10.7), by the way, and booting into the older partition seemed to work right away. It's just that I don't have any use for that other partition right now, it's a leftover from back when I migrated to Mavericks.
I am baffled how all of this connects together. Network issues, boot up failure without apparent disk issues? Has anyone else seen anything like this?

I am still working on restoring my iMac with 10.9.
I've cloned the affected partition. I used Disk Utility and it Restored without apparent unto an external drive. So I tried booting from that drive, but I get the same result as booting from the partition directly. Not a major surprise I guess since this is supposed to be an identical copy.
I have also created a dmg image out of the partition, and I was able to open that on my MBP without problems! All the files seem to be there. It seems to be something specific with the, uh, boot sector or, uh, something?
Next, I booted into Single User mode and ran fsck -fy. The Knowledgebase says it's okay to do it if Safe Mode doesn't work, right? The first time it ran, I got conflicting results. It said both
** The volume appears to be OK
**THE VOLUME WAS MODIFIED**
The Knowledgebase seems to suggest that it should only say one or the other?
Running it again, it said
** The volume appears to be OK
Alas, rebooting it still doesn't work, it continues hanging at the Apple logo.
