To show status message while a background job is running

Question

hi all,
i am currently doing DELETION operation.so i will ask in a popup window "whether to delete it or not" and 2 button "yes" or "no".When I click "yes",  A POPUP SHOULD COME DISPLAYING "DELETING RECORDS" without any button and POPUP SHOULD DISAPPEAR WHEN DELETION IS COMPLETE. But in my status bar , it will telling 10 records deleted,20 records so on...
So I need to display a text message only without any button and should disapperars when my status bar message Delelting is completed
Points will be rewarded
