To use windows through bootcamp, do I have to buy a windows product key?
I don't exactly understand how bootcamp works and was wondering if I needed to buy a windows key to get the ISO file.
Yes you need to buy Windows -- i.e., you need a licensed copy of Windows.

adobe software is not free (beyond their 30day free trial). to use after the free trial, you need to purchase a license.
if you've already purchased a license, you should be able to use to install (or re-install) your software on the same computer and also on a different computer. you are limited to two concurrent activations but unlimited installations and activations over the product's (and your) lifetime. -

You can use the iso direct from Bootcamp assistant and put it on a USB if your Mac has the ability to boot from a USB flash drive.
If your Mac has a built in cd drive you will need to burn the iso to disc (as an image) and use that to boot from. -
I created a partition and installed Windows through bootcamp. But I need to increase my partition size due to me needing more space on the windows side. Can I do this with bootcamp, and how do I do it?

Newegg.com is a place to get Windows cheap. Buy an OEM version. It's the same thing as the retail version except you don't get the pretty (and pointless) box. You can save a lot of cash that way. They even sell XP

That only happens when you are running Windows in a Virtual Machine with OS X as the host. Shut down the VM and restart your Mac. Once the VM is running again and you insert a USB flash drive you should get that prompt again.

I just bought a 2013 late model Mac Book Pro Retina and am wondering if it is worth installing windows through boot camp.
If I install the windows component in order to run an exe file and its component "Declans Korean Flash Cards"... will it make my mac suseptible to viruses overall due to having a windows component? also will it make my mac slower as wellIf you are only going to use one or two window only programs then I wouldn't waste the space. Try WinonX it allows you to install exe. Files on Mac without installing windows.

All you need to do is run Software Update to make sure you have the iWork 9.1 update. It will update your existing installation of the three applications. If you're not running the latest versions & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. Even if you think you'll never need all three of the applications, you cannot delete any. They must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

You can either buy a CS6 perpetual license, or Creative Cloud subscription. Both will run on the two computers you mention. You are allowed two installation with either version, but they must be for the same user. Use troubleshoot compatibility mode
navigate to the "BOOTCAMP64.msi" file instead.
Try to include in posts what Mac, version of Windows (obviously 64-bit version at this point).
Some Macs have trouble install 64-bit but you got through that so should work with a little extra. -
Does installing windows through Bootcamp effect the speed of the laptop when running OSX
My friend and I are having an argument about wether installing windows 7 on your macbook pro through Bootcamp (early 2011) will slow down your laptop even when it is just running OS X (I think it wont)

Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. You could purchase any commonly available external USB DVD/CD writer, such as the excellent LG brand units sold on Amazon, for about $30 US. I've used an LG writer for years to save wear and tear on my older Superdrive.
