Top n Growing tables in BW & R/3 with Oracle env

Hi all,
We are on BW 7.0 with Oracle 10.2.0.2 , please let me know how to get the top N growing tables & Top N largest tables.
I remember collecting these stats from TX: DB02 when we had MS SQLserver as the DB.  It was as easy as clicking a button.  but with Oracle I have been unable to find these options in Db02 or dbacockpit.
Thanks,
Nick

Nick,
Goto tcode DB02OLD>Detailed Analysis>Object Name *, Tablespace , Objetc Type tab. You will get list of all table, you take out top 50 table from this list.
Earlywatch report also gives list of top 20 tables. Check your earlywatch report for this.
You can also use the following SQL query:
select * from
(select owner, segment_name, segment_type, tablespace_name, sum (bytes/1024/1024) MB
from dba_extents
where segment_type = 'TABLE'
group by owner, segment_name, segment_type, tablespace_name
order by MB desc)
where rownum <= N;
Put any value for N (e.g. 50)to find out top N growing tables & Top N largest tables.
If you are planning to go for a table reorg then refer below link.
Re: is it possible to see decrease of table size & size of tablespace
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Sushil

  • How to show employee names in descending order but 3rd row is fixed and always top on the table ?

    how to show employee names in descending order but 3rd row is fixed and always top on the table ?
    for example employee names is A,B,C, D, E
    and output is     C,E,D,B,A

    Since you are posting in the design forum, the short answer is - you don't.  Rows in a table have no inherent order that you can rely on and the "position" of rows is a visual characteristic that should be implemented by the application that displays
    this information or by the query that is used to generate the resultset.
    So the next question is how one accomplishes this particular order within a select statement.  That is a tsql question which, for future reference, is best posted to the tsql forum.  In addition, many of the questions or issues that you will face
    have been discussed in the forums - often many, many times.  The first thing you should do when faced with an issue is to simply search the forums and leverage the the knowledge that has already been discussed.  In doing so you are quite likely to
    see suggestions or related issues that you should consider in your search for a solution.
    Now, to answer the question - you need to formulate a order by clause that forces the rows to be sorted in the manner you desire.  Effectively you have 2 levels of sorting.  The first level divides your rows into 2 groups.  Group 1 consists
    of rows where name = E and Group 2 is everything else.  Following that you then need to sort the rows in each group by name in descending order.  Something like:
    order by case name when E then 1 else 2 end, name desc

  • Add a new row at the top of a table in GUI

    Hi,
    I am using JDev 11.1.1.1.0. I need to be able to let users add a new row at the top of a table and not anywhere else in the middle of table rows. I cannot seem to find a way to do it. note that it does not matter where a new row gets inserted in the db, i am only concerned about restricting the insert in the GUI to the topmost line/row.
    Thanks,
    AJ

    Hi
    Can you try with writing your custom create method in application module and calling same from UI on command button action like
    public void createNewRow()
    ViewObjectImpl vo = getVO1();
    Row newRow= vo.createRow()
    vo.insertRowAtRangeIndex(0, newRow);

  • ALV Grid - Subtotal & total to be shown at the top of the table

    Hi,
    I am using function module 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY' to display a table, and I count subtotals and total for some fields. The total is always shown at the bottom of the table, and subtotals are always shown after the rows that subtotals are calculated for. Is there a way to make it so that the total is always shown at the top of the table, and subtotals are shown before the rows that subtotals are calculated for?
    Thank you,

  • Getting text to the top of a table cell

    I'm sorry, I have asked this before but I still have nothing that works.
    In a table I want the text to start at the top of the cell. I can force it with a clear gif and the end, but surely that is not right. It often works OK in Safari and Opera, but not in Firefox or IE.
    I have copied some code below. It seems to me that the text should be aligning top, but it remain vertically centred in live view and all browsers (MAC).

    The default alignment in a table cell is LEFT MIDDLE, i.e., left horizontal and middle vertical.  If you have no specification in your code for anything other than that, then that's what you get.  I see no such specifications in your code, so your symptoms are not surprising.  To make things align to the top of a table cell (in HTML4.01) you would use <td valign="top"> or in XHTML you would use CSS to bring the content to the top of the cell, e.g., <td style="vertical-align:top"> (inline CSS shown for clarity).
    Be aware that text contained within a paragraph or an <h#> tag WILL HAVE A TOP MARGIN, so if you want that text to be flush with the top of the cell, you will have to control that top margin on the container tag, too.
    In your case, I'm assuming that this is one of your attempts to get to the top of the cell -
    <td><h1 class="top">Text test header</h1>
    But we have no idea what rule is specified by the class="top".  At any rate, you will have only affected the alignment of the text within the <h1> tag and not within the table cell by that.  Perhaps <td class="top"> would be better?  But best would be (if you wanted ALL content in the table to be at the top of the cells) to use a descendent selector like -
    table#whatever td { vertical-align:top; }
    and then give that table the id="whatever".

  • How to check fastest growing tables in db2 via db2 command

    Hi Experts,
    You might feel this very silly question on this forum, but still because of some requirement’s I need that. I'm new to db2 and basis so please bare my immatureness.
    Our DB size is growing faster @ 400/500 MB per day from last 15 days, which is supposed to be not more than 100 MB per day. We want to check the fastest growing tables. So i checked the history in db02 transaction and select the entry field as per 'Growth'. But for the given specific date it is showing nothing. Earlier we had same issue some 3 months back that time it used to display with same selection criteria.
    So I want a db2 command to execute and check the fastest growing table on database level. Please help guys. Early reply must be appreciated.
    PFA screenshot. DB version is DB2 9.7 and OS is Linux
    Thanks & Regards,
    Prasad Deshpande

    Hi Gaurav/Sriram,
    Thanks for the reply..
    DBACOCKPIT is best to go i agree with you but on DBACOCKPIT though our data collector framework and rest all the things are configured properly but still it is not working. It is not changed from last 1 year, and for same scenario 3 months ago it has displayed the growth tables.
    Any how i have raised this issue to SAP so let the SAP come back with the solution on this product error.
    In the mean while @ Experts please reply if you know the DB level command for getting the fastest growing table.
    I'll update the SAP's reply for the same as soon as i get, so that the community should also get the solution for this..
    Thanks & Regards,

    Dear Members,
    I have created a simple JSF page using ADF.
    In the page, I am displaying departments and employee data.
    Departments data is displayed using the ADF Form and the employee data is displayed using ADF Table.
    When I am running the page a default row is appearing above the ADF Table.

  • Loading table data in a form with a custom query

    Hi everyone. I have this challenge with oracle forms. At the top of my form is an LOV text field. And at the bottom is a table (looks just like a master detail form). What I want to do is to select a value from the LOV, and then populate the detail block with information based on a query. The information is not linked to the table assigned to the master block or the table assigned to the detail block.
    Let's say the master block contains an LOV which contains dates like AUG-09, DEC-09. After selecting a value, I want to be able to run a query say something like:
    select full_name, job_title from per_all_boolys_f where period_name = 'AUG-09' (from master block)
    Then this quer will then be used to populate the rows and columns in my detail block.
    Is it possible to do this and how would I go about this.
    Thank you

    Igwe,
    Based on your query example, you are only selecting from a single table. If this is the case, why not base your Detail Block on this table and then set the DEFAULT_WHERE clause property of the block to: ':MASTER_BLOCK.DATE' and then call Go_Block('DETAIL_BLOCK') and Execute_Query to populate your detail block?
    If you truly have a dynamic query, then I would suggest using a From-Clause query based Detail Block? This would allow you to change your query anyway you want so long as it returns the same number of columns and column names don't change. Here is the setup:
    1. Set the appropriate properties on your DETAIL BLOCK (as follows)
         a. Database Data Block = "Yes"
         b. Query Data Source Type = 'FROM clause query'
         c. Query Data Source Name = 'Leave blank or enter basics of your SQL query here'
         d. ORDER BY Clause = 'Enter any ordering requirements here or set them as needed in your code.'
         e. Set Insert Allowed, Update Allowed, and Delete Allowed = 'No'
    2. Write the code to define your SQL query and assign it to the QUERY_DATA_SOURCE_NAME property of your Detail Block. This code can be in any trigger that allows execution of Restricted Built-ins (When-New-Block-Instance, When-New-Item-Instance, When-List-Changed, etc) because you will need to call the Go_Block and Execute_Query built-ins. In your situation, you may want to set a flag variable (parameter or global) in your Key-Next-Item and Post-Text-Item triggers and then test this flag variable in a When-New-Item-Instance trigger. For example:
    /* Example Key-Next-Item trigger (duplicate this logic in your Post-Text-Item trigger */
    /* or replace both triggers with a When-Validate-Item trigger) */
    /* My example will use a Parameter object as a variable so you will need to create the */
    /* QUERY_DETAIL_BLOCK parameter and set it to a CHAR(1) */
    /* data type and set the DEFAULT VALUE to 'N' */
    DECLARE
         /* Declare any variables you need here */
    BEGIN
         -- Your trigger specific code here....
         :Parameter.QUERY_DETAIL_BLOCK := 'Y';
    END;
    /* Master Block When-New-Item-Instance trigger sample */
    DECLARE
         v_SQL     VARCHAR2(2000);
    BEGIN
         -- Any preexisting W-N-I-I trigger code you may have here already
         -- New code...
         IF ( :Parameter.QUERY_DETAIL_BLOCK = 'Y' ) THEN
              -- Reset the parameter first
              :Parameter.QUERY_DETAIL_BLOCK := 'N');
              -- Build the Dynamic Query
              v_SQL := 'select full_name, job_title from per_all_boolys_f where period_name = '' '||:MASTER_BLOCK.DATE|| ' '';
              Set_Block_Property('DETAIL_BLOCK', QUERY_DATA_SOURCE_NAME, v_SQL);
              Go_Block('DETAIL_BLOCK');
              Execute_Query;
              Go_Block('MASTER_BLOCK');
         END IF;
    END;Please note, the above code is an example only - you will need to modify this example to work in your Form. Also, if your query really only selects from a single table, I really encourage you to use the first option of basing the detail block on the table and setting the Default Where clause property.
    Hope this helps.

  • Insert Record with Parent/Child Tables doesn't work with Oracle - unlike AC

    Hi,
    I just Migrated a MS Access 2010 Database to an Oracle 11g Backend with the SQL Developer Tool.
    The Migration went fine, all the Tables and Views are migrated.
    I'm working with MS Access as Frontend.
    The application has some Datasheets with Subdatasheets with Parent/Child Relationship. (1-n Relationship)
    After changing to Oracle, it's not possible, to Insert a new Record in a Subdatasheet I always get the following Error Message:
    "The Microsoft Access database engine cannot find a record in the table 'xxxx' with key matching field(s) 'zzzzz'"
    It used to work perfect with the MS Access Backend, do I need a trigger which first adds the child Record ?
    Or what should I do?
    Thank you

    Hi Klaus,
    Thanks for your answer. I still haven't solved my problem. The only way would be to use a singel 1:n Relationship, but in fact I need a n:m Relationship.
    I tried the same scenario with a new Access Application, same result.
    To clearify my problem.
    Goal: Parent Form with Parent Records, Linked Child Form with Child Records in a Datasheet View => Insert of a NEW Child Record.
    I have 3 Tables (table1 = Parent tabel, table2 = Child Table, table12 = n:m Tabel with PK and two FK)
    The Recordsource of the Parent Form is Tabel1
    The Recordsource of the Child Form is Table2 joined with Table12.
    In my Old Access Project, Access Triggered the Insert and filled Table12 with the NEW PK of Table2.
    It seems like Access can't do that anymore....
    I'm pretty desperate and I'm sure it is just a litte thing to fix.....

  • Update of a table from a select query with aggregate functions.

    Hello All,
    I have problem here:
    I have 2 tables A(a1, a2, a3, a4, a4....... ) and B( a1, a2, b1, b2, b3). I need to calculate the avg(a4-a3), Max(a4-a3) and Min(a4-a3) and insert it into table B. If the foreign keys a1, a2 already exist in table B, I need to do an update of the computed values into column b1, b2 and b3 respectively, for a1, a2.
    Q1. Is it possible to do this with a single query ? I would prefer not to join A with B because the table A is very large. Also columns b1, b2 and b3 are non-nullable.
    Q2. Also if a4 and a3 are timestamps what is the best way to find the average? A difference of timestamps yields INTERVAL DAY TO SECOND over which the avg function doesn't seem to work. The averages, max and min in my case would be less than a day and hence all I need is to get the data in the hh:mm:ss format.
    As of now I'm using :
    TO_CHAR(TO_DATE(ABS(MOD(TRUNC(AVG(extract(hour FROM (last_modified_date - created_date))*3600 +
    extract( minute FROM (last_modified_date - created_date))*60 +
    extract( second FROM (last_modified_date - created_date)))
    ),86400)),'sssss'),'hh24":"mi":"ss') AS avg_time,
    But this is very long drawn. Something more compact and efficient would be nice.
    Thanks in advance for your inputs.

    Hi,
    Thanks everyone for such fast replies. Malakshinov's example worked fine for me as far as updating the table goes. As for the timestamp computations, I'm posting additional info: Sorry, I don't understand.
    If Malakshinov's example worked for updating the table, but you still have problems, does that mean you have to do something else besides update the table? If so, what?
    Oracle version : Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0
    Here are the table details :
    DESC Table A
    Name Null Type
    ID               NOT NULL NUMBER
    A1               NOT NULL VARCHAR2(4)
    A2               NOT NULL VARCHAR2(40)
    A3               NOT NULL VARCHAR2(40)
    CREATED_DATE NOT NULL TIMESTAMP(6)
    LAST_MODIFIED_DATE TIMESTAMP(6) DESCribing the tables can help clarify some things, but it's no substitute for posting CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements. With only a description of the table, nobody can re-create the problem or test their ideas. Please post CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for both tables as they exist before the MERGE. If table b doen't contain any rows before the MERGE, then just say so, but you still need to post a CREATE TABLE statement for both tables, and INSERT statements for table a.
    The objective is to compute the response times : avg (LAST_MODIFIED_DATE - CREATED_DATE), max (LAST_MODIFIED_DATE - CREATED_DATE) and min (LAST_MODIFIED_DATE - CREATED_DATE) grouped by A1 and A2 and store it in table B under AVG_T, MAX_T and MIN_T. Since AVG_T, MAX_T and MIN_T are only used for reporting purposes we have kept it as Varchar (though I think keeping it as timestamp would make more sense). I think a NUMBER would make more sense (the number of minutes, for example), or perhaps an INTERVAL DAY TO SECOND. If you stored a NUMBER, it would be easy to compute averages.
    In table B the times are stored in the format : hh:mm:ss. We don't need milliseconds precision. If you don;'t need milliseconds, then you should use DATE instead of TIMESTAMP. The functions for manipulating DATEs are much better.
    Hence I was calculating is as follows:
    -- Avg Time
    TO_CHAR(TO_DATE(ABS(MOD(TRUNC(AVG(extract(hour FROM (last_modified_date - created_date))*3600 +
    extract( minute FROM (last_modified_date - created_date))*60 +
    extract( second FROM (last_modified_date - created_date)))
    ),86400)),'sssss'),'hh24":"mi":"ss') AS avg_time,
    --Max Time
    extract (hour FROM MAX(last_modified_date - created_date))||':'||extract (minute FROM MAX(last_modified_date - created_date))||':'||TRUNC(extract (second FROM MAX(last_modified_date - created_date))) AS max_time,
    --Min Time
    extract (hour FROM MIN(last_modified_date - created_date))||':'||extract (minute FROM MIN(last_modified_date - created_date))||':'||TRUNC(extract (second FROM MIN(last_modified_date - created_date))) AS min_timeIs this something that has to be done before or after the MERGE?
    Post the complete statement.
    Is this part of a query? Where's the SELECT keyword?
    Is this part of a DML operation? Where's the INSERT, or UPDATE, or MERGE keyword?
    What are the exact results you want from this? Explain how you get those results.
    Is the code above getting the right results? Are you just asking if there's a better way to get the same results?
    You have to explain things very carefully. None of the people who want to help you are familiar with your application, or your needs.

  • ROWNUM is indexed in the Fact table - How to optimize performace with this?

    Hi,
    I have a scenario where there is an index on the Rownum.
    The main Fact table is partitioned based on the job number (Daily and monthly). As there can be multiple entries for a single jobID, the primary key is made up of the Job ID and the Rownum
    This fact table in turn is joined with another fact table based on this job number and rownum. This second fact table is also partitioned on job ID.
    I have few reference tables that are joined with the first fact table with btree index.
    Though in a normal DW scenario we should use bitmap, here we can't do that as lot of other applications are accessing data (DML queries) where bitmap will be slow. So I am using STAR_TRANSFORMATION hint to use the normal index as bitmap index.
    Till here it is fine. Problem is when I simply do a count for a specific partition from a reference table and a fact table, it is using all required indexes as bitmap with very low cost. But also it is using ROWNUM index that is of very very high cost.
    I am relatively new to Oracle tuning. I am not able to understand what it is exactly doing. Could you please suggest if I can get rid of this ROWNUM to make my query performance faster? This index can not be dropped. Is there a way in the hint I can instruct not to use this primary key index?
    Or Even by using is there a way that the performance will be faster?
    I will highly appreciate any help in this regard.
