Toshiba 55TL515U vs. Vizio M550NV vs. LG 55LW6500 Which one should I buy?

They are all passive 3D TVs. I’m kind of leaning towards LG Cinema 3D since it seems like the most popular one but I want to make sure that I’m not biased towards anything. If you own any of these TVs, can you please help me out and tell me what your likes and dislikes are? I don’t mind the price, although a bundle deal would be nice. Thanks a lot.

I recommend LG Cinema 3D. I own a LW6500 of LG Cinema 3D series and it’s great. I have experiences with both Vizio and LG. I bought a Vizio passive 3D (I forgot which model because I returned it soon after) and didn’t like it at all. It’s cheap, I admit, and seems like a good deal. But I thought passive 3D TVs aren’t supposed to flicker. Well, Vizio did flicker. A LOT. I went on the Vizio website and it admits such problem and promises that it will do a firmware update soon. They did updated the firmware but the flickers didn’t go away. There was an even bigger issue: the TV would just turn off automatically in the middle of watching for no reason at all. I called Vizio and they admitted to this problem and said they would do an update. I didn’t want to wait until the update so I just returned it and got LW6500 instead. I’ve had it for a couple months now and I’m happy with it. It’s certified flicker free and I haven’t seen a single flicker on this TV. Both 2D images and 3D images look great. It came with 4 pairs of lightweight, battery free 3D glasses and I’ve tried using 3D glasses from the movie theaters and they work perfectly fine too. I can watch any 2D contents in 3D mode and the quality is good.

  • Re: Which Toshiba laptop should I buy?

Hey, I want to buy Toshiba laptop, this site review two laptops.
I want to buy One of them But Which one?

Satellite L505 is very good notebook and with this piece of hardware you can do more than basic stuff.
But I recommend you to pick up some info about Satellite A Series, for instance, Satellite A660.
Satellite A series has better hardware inside, better cam, and fantastic harman/kardon speakers. So with Satellite A660 you will not have just notebook but really nice multimedia machine.
Pick up some info on Toshiba pages http://laptops.toshiba.com/

  • Why should I buy Toshiba in the future?

I want to ask what is the point of buying Toshiba for the future? What should motivate me? I know that their laptops have quite cheap price for the products they include, but with such a terrible support?
I have Qosmio F50-125. I bought it 3 years ago. Since I bought it, the DRIVER support was TERRIBLE. For all those 3 years, they released for example only 1 DRIVER for the video!!! ONLY 1!!!!!! At 28/07/08 (for Vista).
Of course there is a "New" driver for windows 7 from 2009. But that's all! When you buy a product, you expect to have a good support. Specially when Toshiba guarantee is "1 year no-matter what + 3 years abroad warrenty". You expect to have support atleast for 3 YEARS when you get a 3 year guarantee, but no, they update the drivers for the 1st year and that's all!
+All the new updates (which are 2,3, for the Bluetooth and Wireless) are for Windows 7. This laptop is originally sold with Windows Vista. Nowhere says if there is an option for upgrade. I called and asked at Toshiba if I can upgrade it (if they provide this service) and they answered that they don't know!!!! Still no response.. And if you download the drivers from the developers page (nvidia in my case) the guarantee falls of!
So when you buy Toshiba you get:
    Pros:
-1 year no-matter what guarantee + 3 years abroad guarantee
-Cheat price for relatively good laptop
    Cons:
    -NO DRIVER SUPPORT
-Not allowed to open the computer or give it to any company to be Cleaned for avoiding HEAT problems, except Toshiba
-Lots of Toshiba programs, that make faults to your system, one of them Toshiba Tempro - totally useless
When I was buying this laptop it costed 1015euro. Not the cheapest, but definitely not from the expensive class. Now I'm thinking to buy a laptop for 1000-1500euro. Should I waste those money for Toshiba?
Buy a new high-end computer, have support only for the first year and after 2 years having the same problem? If I was buying it only for studying and work, all of this wouldn't matter for me. But I'm using it for creating music, graphic designs and in the free time play games.
P.S. I love my laptop, 3 years old, and still runs great. Photoshop, Fruity Loops, all work well + I can even play Skyrim and Modern Warfare 3. But the Airflow design....... awful. It's build in such a way, that each 3,4 months you need to clean it, to avoid +100 GPU temperature. The normal one is 90 ;) which I think is quite bad.

    Regarding the display driver support:
I agree with you the graphic card drivers for the gaming notebooks should be released and updated regularly because most new games requires the newest driver version.
But I noticed also, that display drivers from other notebook manufacturers are not updated regularly and in most cases the usage of original graphic drivers from GPU manufacture pages is necessary.
    > Not allowed to open the computer or give it to any company to be Cleaned for avoiding HEAT problems, except Toshiba
I think all computer/notebook manufactures dont allow to open and to disassemble the own products. This is because the disassembling procedure is always tricky and there is a risk of part damage. I think this is understandable...
    > Lots of Toshiba programs, that make faults to your system, one of them Toshiba Tempro - totally useless
I noticed that every notebook manufacture installs own tools and utilities in order to control the notebook features. The point is that notebooks are different to the common desktop PCs and notebooks support a lot of additional features: Eco modes, multimedia buttons, additional power saving features, HDD security options, etc
So a preinstalled software is not really a disadvantage but of course, you can remove this from the system but this means that you would not be able to use such features.

  • TOSHIBA PORTEGE Z35-A KEYBOARD REPLACEMENT (4 times in one year)

I've had many Toshiba laptops over the years and have had a keboard issue.  However, with this particular model, I've had to replace the keyboard 4 times within a year (the first time happening within a month of getting the laptop) -- with the same problem of a key popping out and having to replace the whole keyboard because, according to the authorized dealer technicians,  the metal holders undeneath the key are worn out and, as a result, the whole keyboard has to be replaced.  so far, it's cost me over $450. Called Toshiba about this problem, and all I got was:  Sorry for your troubles, but there's nothing we can do -- not even some kind of store credit to be applied to future purchase.    I  don't know if I'm the only one having this kind of issue with the keybaord hardware.   I just wanted to vent and see if others have had similar problems.

Oops. I meant to say I have never had a keyboard issue with previous Toshiba laptops I've had.

    Hi there,
I' Using the Toshiba 46TL963G TV since 5 monts, recetly i asked for the **bleep** new software update and I let it install (ofcourse its connected via ethernet cable). After instalment the TV restarted automatically and everything was fine. I could watch TV well and I turned it OFF. and later Next morning When I turned On, it doesn't function anymore!!
How Crap is this TV.. It does the automatic software update and it conks off itself!!!
and the most annoying thing is that I went to this website "http://support.toshiba.com/" to get the support for this TV and when I entered the 8 charachter moderl of my TV , it say, wrong entry. WTF!!!! You dont clain your own product as yours??
Please help me how can I get my TV working fine as before, else I really have to start working on creating a blog "Reason Why one SHOULD not buy TV from TOSHIBA"
    - Many thanks
    Aravind

Peter, You _know_ that the firmware update crashes the TV. There have been enough reports of this online, and so much of it here on this forum that you cannot have missed it. Users need to resort to auto-flashing the firmware with files that are not publicly available from your site. Could you not at least remove the offending firmware from the list of things the television can automatically download? Aravind, you might try contacting the toshiba support to get them to send you the correct file to put on an USB device to force the TV to launch the update once plugged. Roaming the forums, it seems like this file should be something like "46TL963G_******_INIT_CLEAR.bin". Kellindil

  • Canon digital camera software

I just purchased a Canon SD 850 IS digital camera. It comes with Canon's Digital Camera Solution Disc. For Macintosh, it includes ImageBrowser 5.8, PhotoStitch 3.1, and EOS Utility 1.1. The manual says not to connect the camera until the software is downloaded.
Do I need to download the software, or will Iphoto be sufficient? Is there any disadvantages to downloading the software?
    Thanks.

    Hi there!
You don;t need to use the Canon software to upload your images to you Mac and there is no disadvantage downloading the software.
If it were me, I would go ahead and download the Canon Software. The main reason would be the use of PhotoStich, there are no Apps you have on your Mac that can do some of the things PhotoStich is designed to do. You can read more about Photostitch here: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/panoramic-software.htm
If you do decide to install the Canon software, you will also need to decide whether iPhoto or ImageBrowser should handle the downloading and indexing of your images. You can make this choice by opening Apps > Image Capture, open preferences and pick which one should open.

  • NB305 - Buy it or not?

    Hi friends,
Well I want to buy a laptop in few days but I'm confused which one should I take. As I have read over on net and found several branded laptop such hp,lenovo, dell,Accer toshiba and amazing design.
Actually I was bored with my desktop because I can't shift anywhere. Recently I'm watching FIFA worldcup and got many problem in work. So finally I decided to take a laptop so I can work anywhere even I watch TV or away from home.
I came across from a site and I have seen Toshiba laptop and I really liked it don't it's a good brand or not but design is really cool. Here is the site that I just came here from this site - Toshiba NB305 Laptop
They have mentioned really great info about this laptop and want to take your advice. Give me your suggestion and advice to buy this laptop or not.
    Regards
    kemroon

    Hello
With other words: Why not to buy NB305? ;)
I think its depending on the requirements that you have. Generally speaking netbooks designed for mobile usage. So you cant play on it but they are great for office or surfing Internet. NB305 is saving a lot of power so you can work for a long time on battery mode.
If you want such a netbook, I can recommend NB305. Friend of me has it and he is very satisfied. He uses the netbook for Internet and to chat with friends. Often he takes the netbook to his favorite coffee bar to drink a coffee and surf in the Internet No problems. :)

  • Single Core CPU - REQUIREMENTS

Hi ALL Hope I'm in the right place this is a hard hardware isssue I can't seem to figure. Here's the deal: Old Toshiba Satellite (circa 2006) with Intel® Pentium® M Processor 780 (2M Cache, 2.26 GHz, 533 MHz FSB) with MMX instructions, SSE / Streaming SIMD Extensions, SSE2 / Streaming SIMD and 2 NX / XD / Execute disable bit. For the new guys out there - yeah this is old - it's single core. Remember those? OS win xp pro (32bit) 100% fully patched and with no failed updates. Just waiting to install the MS Skype update. So will this setup run Skype with a webcam and if it will which webcam should I buy?

You can run a webcam with that setup.  I would suggest you buy a webcam that is designed to run on a single core.  I would suggest getting at most a 720p camera or under [2Mbit video (not photo capture) or below] that is compatible with Windows XP.  The higher resolution a camera is capale of, the more likely it will attempt to negotiate ata a higher resolution which will result in more CPU consumption.  If you use a 720p camera and it determines to engage the higher resolution, don't be surprised if your CPU resources hit as high as 80% while on a call.  Then again, it might not try and you could be fine even with a high-end camera.  I would personally recommend getting a big brand name camera like a Microsoft Lifecam or Logitech series (I use both).  Getting a generic brand might work great on your computer as well but it may work too great providing too low a quality that is acceptable to you or others with no room for improvement in the hardware.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
    1. I suggest running the DOS based Fujitsu-Toshiba's diagnostic tool (bootable):- http://sdd.toshiba.com/main.aspx?Path=ServicesSupport/WarrantySupport/SoftwareUtilities
    2. It is 2.5inch wide and 9.5mm high SATA drive, not all notebook drives are same; some are physically different in sizes and interface. However, as long as you buy SATA 2.5inch 9.5mm high then it doesn't make a difference.
    Hope this helps.

my son connected the laptop's power cable to the metal part of the monitor cable, and since the tv doesn't want to work. I think two things could have gone wrong, the main board and the power board. i don't want to replace both, if only 1 is gone.
I opened the back and checked the fuse, it is good, but the green light doesn;t come up, after pressing the power button a few times.

  • Difference between Tecra A, M and S series

    Hi,
What is really the difference among A, M and S Tecra series? Which one should we choose?
It is obvious that Tecra is supposed to be a high end standard in range of the Toshiba Notebooks, but why they make different series of Tecra?
