Totally lost!  Please help

Hi.... I am not a computer geek and know nothing about programming. I have SunMicro Java2 Platform Standard Version Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_01-b08) on my computer. I am running Win XP Pro.
This thing is constant shutting down programs that require java. For example, a Pogo game site, or even Yahoo's Web builder software. I have no idea why it is doing this, and how to fix it. I don't understand if I have something configured wrong or what, but it is becoming a real pain.
Could someone please look at one of these logs (they all seem basically about the same) and see what the heck is wrong? I sure would appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks in advance......

Im am getting the same type of problem. At first only the pogo web site would hang up then the system started shutting down randomly. I found that the program called "weather bug" from channel 10 news was causing the pogo hangup so I uninstalled it. That solved that problem but the shut downs continued to occur. I uninstalled java, dowloaded the most recent and installed it and it help but I still get the shutdowns just not as often.
This all started after installing the weather bug.
Here is my error log:

It sounds like you might be using two different applications for taking notes.  That could get confusing. Have a look at this tutorial on using the Notes application that comes with iPad. There is a good suggestion in here about saving really important notes.   http://www.ehow.com/video_6214241_using-notes-ipad.html

  • 8 months of photos lost --  PLEASE help

Last night when I opened up iPhoto, all my photos since 10/30/2006 are gone. I read to try deleting the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file, but this didn't work.
Where could these pictures have gone? And why just this chunk of pics after 10/30/2006?. Please help, as there are a LOT of shots than were taken from Nov 2006 to present.
P.S. I just realized this is being posted in the iPhoto 6 forum. I am using iPhoto 5 though...

    rmcfall:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. No, I don't think you've lost your image files. Look inside the iPhoto Library/Originals folder and you should find them all in subfolders representing the rolls in the library.
Since the rebuild didn't restore the library you'll have to create a new library and import the original files from the old one as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the rolls from the original.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same rolls as the original library. However dates on the rolls may be different but can be edited as you would the roll title.
Once this is completed you can delete the Originals folder from the desktop and the iPhoto Llibrary folder. If desired, you can keep the older library folder to try other fixes on it.
In the future I recommend you make a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto file after each import and after doing a lot of editing and organizing in the library. Then if you experience a similar crash all you need to do is replace the damaged database file with the backup copy and you'll be back to the same place in the library as when you make the backup. See the tip at the end of my signature.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • My iphone is lost please help.

Hi i have a problem. I go to school in ireland and my iphone 4 black 16 gb was stolen. I called the company to block the phone and sim they did so. later i went to guardas (police) station and the guard(policeman) said that the can track my iphone but it must have my sim and it must be on. He also told me that Apple can track it down by IMEI number which is when i was locking my iphone which is 012539007327383. If you could please help me .It was my present from parents and i dont want to get them upset .Thank You.

You were misinformed. Apple does not track lost devices. If you didn't have FindMyPhone installed, you're out of luck.

  • After upgrades iMac will not completely restart.. lost please help

Hi, I am new to the forum but I have been scouring the net for an answer to my problem. I have found some similar problems but nothing exact so I decided to post to make a deadline. Please help.
Yesterday night I got one of those apple software updates. I cant remember what it was for but it was fot 3 different things nothing out of the ordinary. Once they were installed I had to restart my computer. I did this and when I did my computer booted up and froze at the blue screen after the white/grey apple screen and will go no further.
Heres where it gets a little different from other posts I have found. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse so I cannot run the start up disks or get to safe mode. I bought a different usb mouse and keyboard today and am now able to put disks in and out of the disk drive by holding down the left button during start up. The only problem the keyboard came with software that needs to be installed to make it work. So it is still impossible to connect to a keyboard. So I still cant hold shift, control or c to get to safe mode or run my mac disks.
Im not sure where to go from hear. I have a seagate external harddrive backing everything up so hopefully I didnt lose everything. Any help would be great I am lost.
    Thanks for your time

When you get the new keyboard, start up from Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
Reboot, then repair permissions from your hard drive.

  • How can I create a new iCloud account on a preowned phone (with that persons account signed on) without deleting their whole account entirely (on all devices)? Totally confused, please help:-(

My mum has upgraded to the iPhone 5, she has given me her 4S with a new contract etc. the problem is all her contacts are still on here and calendar dates etc . All from her iCloud account. I have my own account but I don't know how to get my phone on that without deleting her iCloud account entirely and from all devices and her new phone. Please help, I'm probably confusing things more but I really need some help

Just delete her iCloud account from (now) your iPhone 4s - doing so will delete it from your phone and your phone only.  It will do nothing to any of her devices with her iCloud account set up on them.
Then login in with your iCloud account login to set up your iCloud account on that iPhone 4S.
If you want to set up the iPhone 4s with a clean slate, just delete her iCloud account, then go into general settings, under the reset tab and select "erase all content and settings".  Then run through the activation and setup dialogues with your own information.

  • Absolutely lost, please help!

Alright, so when I initially attempted to back up my TC for the first time, it failed over and over again... After reading some discussions I did what many others have, looked in the console for a corrupted file, and trashed it.
Problem solved... or so I thought.
I finally completed a backup, and didn't go to bed last night until I saw it say "Finishing backup"... hooray!
I wake up this morning and check on it, and see an error message telling me that my TC is almost full. I have a 120GB MacBook Pro, and a 500GB TC... HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE I click on the Time Machine button at the top right of the screen and it says that the latest backup has failed. Why would the latest backup fail if the original went through just fine, and I haven't put anything new on the machine?
Furthermore, I open finder and click on my TC which shows up under the "Shared" tab. It connects, then shows a Time Capsule folder. I then click on that folder because I want to see what made it onto my TC, and make sure there aren't duplicates and such (because why would it be full?)
Anyhow, when I click on the Time Capsule folder, I get the following error message: "The operation cannot be completed because the original item for "Time Capsule" cannot be found."
I just double clicked on it again, and the Time Capsule folder goes away and then an error message pops up saying that it can't connect to the server... which is crap, because I know it is. After all, it did connect to do the original backup, and I can get on the internet just fine.
I really don't know what to do, or where to begin... in the meantime I have turned Time Machine off. This is incredibly frustrating. I spent a lot of money on this, and I need to backup my laptop asap because I have almost no freespace (about a gig or two) and need to delete some stuff so that I can even do software updates!
This is a huge headache to have during the first week of the school year. I really don't know what else to do, other than to try and erase the TC and start over, but that is a ridiculously time consuming endeavor
What I'm really stumped on, is why would it say the TC is almost full, when I was only backing up about 110GB? ...Isn't time machine just supposed to backup anything new during the hourly backups, as opposed to making additional freak'n copies of the whole thing?
    PLEASE HELP ME
    Much thanks!

Ok, so I reset my TC and now when I do the initial setup it says "Disk needs repair - There is a problem with the disk connected to your Apple wireless device. Connect the disk to your computer to repair the disk."
It doesn't say how to connect it to the computer... I don't have a USB cable with two of the same shaped ends, and for some stupid reason there's no firewire port on the TC. I plugged an ethernet cable into my computer & the TC but it doesn't show that it is connected to it, and when I hit continue it doesn't do anything except ask if I want to skip this step.
What the ****? This is beyond infuriating! My disk shouldn't need any repair since I've never really used it... Anyway... can someone help figure out what the **** to do?

  • FIREWIRE LOST-please help

Please help, my firewire has suddenly stopped working. I upgraded to 10.4.4 recently and remembered to unplug all my firewire devices first. The I tried to force quit itunes today as it wasn't responding. When I restarted the computer none of my firewire devices worked. I repaired disk permissions and tried techtool pro which said the firewire bus was not available. I then went on the forum and tried one suggestion which was to shut down, unplug all firewire devices turn the power off and wait thirty minutes and reconnect everything. This has given me no joy. Does anyone have any ideas? I have on fw800 with a lacie hard drive, on hub with 3 devices plugged in and i'm using the cinema 20' hub for two more devices. they are all powered by their own plugs apart from my ipod.
    thanks

Try the Combo update in the following tips you've probably already seen. Zap thr PRAM also. Is your battery good?
Thought you could use this info about getting FireWire to work!
First, you should always Repair Permissions in Disk Utility before and after any update; I would do that now. If you installed your update with FireWire plugged in, your Mac may not recognize it anymore.
Try resetting your FireWire ports by disconnecting all FW devices, shut down your Mac and unplug it from AC power (wall socket) for 30 minutes. plug it back in and try FW.
If that did'nt work, download the combo update from this site (yours may be corrupt), not Software Update, disconnect all firewire + USB devices except keyboard + mouse, Repair Permissions, re-install update, Repair Permissions again + try. Yours is the 10.4.4 Combo update. Others reading, download the Combo that applies to your system.
If that still did'nt get it Zap the PRAM. While restarting Mac hold down the following key combo Command-Option-P-R. Keep holding those keys down till you hear the second start-up chime, then release.
For those of you with Macs that are not PowerBooks or iBooks, a bad internal battery can cause FireWire to not be recognized, so make sure it's good!
    Good Luck!
    Cheers!

  • 0.99 promo - paying through iTunes account?? SO LOST please help!

Okay so instead of being smart and reading the info on the app in the iTunes Store first, I frantically looked all over Google before reading (20 minutes later SMH) and seeing where you CAN set up payments through your iTunes account (there is a Spotify god!!) Anyways, I'm wanting to sign up for premium and do the 3 months for 0.99 promo, however whenever I go on the app on my iPad and click subscribe the only option it's giving me is to pay 12.99$ for it, which isn't a big deal but I'd much rather pay the .99 cents until I'm sure I want to commit to paying that monthly for this. Sadly on your browser page it doesn't have the option for iTunes payment under the list of "other payment options" which sucks considering my only payment option at the moment is through my iTunes account :'( I hope there's some way around this to where I can still pay the promo price through the actual app with my iTunes, I'm so over Pandora and how annoying it is when it constantly skips and shuts off for no reason and I'm dying to get this premium started so I never have to handle that horrid excuse of an app anymore!!! PLEASE HELP ME ASAP!!!!
    Sincerely,

I have been stuck on a query for the last week. It would be amazing if someone could help me with this. nothing I have done has worked so far.  I did post something a few days ago and was helped a bit but it just didnt work out the way I needed. This has been the hardest query I have ever worked on.
    Im using oracle 11g.
What I am trying to do is get a bunch of running aggregate values based on dates of multiple projects.
I have did an export of the ddl for the actual table and records, I did not want to just post a sample of the data as it includes many records and I think it might actually be easier to have the full extract.
here is the link to the file http://santoro.us/pl_insert.sql
In the table I have IPS (which is a project id), create date, complete date, logged_date, status, due date (these are all the important columns)
What I am trying to get as an end result is 1 table or 1 view that has all the running totals per month for each project.
Here are the totals im looking to get
    Open
    Closed
    open late
    closed late
open on time closed on time
The thing is I need to start the months per project from the first month the project has a record. So if a projects first record starts on jan 1 2010 thats when the first record with totals should be, 01/2010 , then 02/2010, 03/2010, etc..until the current month. This has to be done per project.
so for example lets say there are only 2 projects (there are many more).
    IPS 123
    first record starts 01/01/2010
    IPS 456
    first record starts 01/01/2011
each have records that open and close on different dates in different months. some might be late (complete date > due date),  some closed on time (complete date <= due date).
end result would be a table that has :
Date |  IPS | open | closed | open late | closed late | open on time | closed on time |
    01/2010 | 123 | 1 |  0 | etc..
months would go all the way to current month
    then start proj 2
    01/2011 | 456 | 1 | 0 | etc..
months would go all the way to current month
each record would be counted starting the create date of the record. As the records get late or closed (based on due date and complete date) then need to be added/removed from the running totals of the data.
This all has to be in 1 table or view. I know some people might say this is wrong way to do it but thats how it has to be done for the project im working on. Im generating xml at the end so the developer needs it like this.
Again thank you for any help and please let me know if you need any other information.
    thank you.

Frank. No problem. that is great that it doesnt need ad hoc tables and could be done in pure sql. As I said this is the hardest query i have ever worked on. If you could help i would be greatful. I realize this forum is priceless resource and has helped me many times.
Please let me know if I should post anything else.
I am having a hard time understanding how I would dispaly each month with the aggregrated rolling totals from start month to current month for each project.
    Im using oracle 11.2.3.3.0
