  • SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 Can't Edit WMI Query Code in Report Builder

I first posted this in the SCCM but the issue is not solved so I thought I'd try here in the SQL Reporting forum. Original thread here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/b0a6ca3d-7471-4b49-8447-7403a65c2ec0/sccm-2012-r2-cu2-cant-edit-wmi-query-code-in-sccm-reports?forum=configmanagergeneral
I'll repost info here to make this easier.....
I built a new SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 suite on Server 2012 R2. This also uses SQL 2012 SP1 CU6. This suite has 4 servers: site server, two for WSUS and secondary DPs, and SQL. This problem is true for the built in reports and my custom reports. Our SQL guy has
been helping me a lot but we've gotten nowhere. I can run a report. I can open one in edit mode after it prompts me for credentials. It loads Report Builder 3.0. But when I go to a dataset/query, enter credentials, and try to open it, I get a popup that
says "Unable to connect to data source. 'AutoGen_5C6358F2_yayak..." When I click on details it says "The target principal name is incorrect. A connection was succesfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login
process.  (SSL Provider, error: 0 -The target principal name is incorrect.)" In SQL Reporting Services Config Manager the paths for Web Service URL is
http://ip.ip.ip.ip:80/ReportServer_SC01 and for Report Manager URL:
http://ip.ip.ip.ip:80/Reports_SC01. A domain account is used to login. This happens when you r-click a dataset and select query to edit the code of a dataset, ie, when query designer tries to open up. It happens
in both Admin Console and when using the Report Manager URL within SQL SSRS. All other functions of using edit mode of a report work fine.
    Ben JohnsonWY

When I do that, browse is dimmed out.
But, if I deselect "create a data set" and click "choose an existing dataset in this report..." there is no data connection at the end.
But if I don't use report builder and instead use IE to browse to my ConfigMgr_ABC, I do see the connection at the end: {123...}.
This problem is on a network that is not on the 'net, so it's hard to do screen shots, so I'll reproduce this problem step by step:
I pick a report to edit, it doesn't matter which one.
If I try it in Admin Console, I right-click, Edit the report, it asks me for a login, I login, then I get a popup that says "Cannot continue. The application is improperly formatted. Contact the vendor for assistance. I click the Details button and
get a long set of text but the key part is "Your web browser settings do not allow you to run signed applications." This msg didn't appear before, so something changed, so I will investigate. I think it used to give a SPN error.
If I use IE within report builder and navigate to whatever report, click open, everything works, except, when I click on Dataset0 (the key one I normally need to edit), click query, it prompts me for a login and no matter which one I use, i get a popup that
says "unable to connect to data source 'AutoGen_123...'". If I click details I get "the targe principal name is incorrect. A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider:
SSL Provider 0-The target principal name is incorrect.)

  • Manupilation of the Query in Crystal Report

    Dear Experts,
I have prepared a report to get opening balance which I haven able to achieve. Please find it below:
    SELECT    SUM(dbo.JDT1.Debit)- SUM(dbo.JDT1.Credit) as Opening

Now I want to get the cumulative total for the balance, I know about the Running balance which adds
current figure to the previous. But the problem is how to add the opening balance and then
add current figure as done by Running. I have put down a link of what  I am looking for in my report.

    Your help be appreciated

    Hi,
You need a BEx query ontop of the MC, which is set 'allow external access'
You need software "integration kit for SAP solutions"
    You need Crystal Designer client
You need to use the "BW MDX Driver"
You need to add the query fields using the "Database Expert" wizard
    Then design the report.
When you come to asking about creating the IRR formula in Crystal, please ask that question the Crystal subforum in SDN.

    Hi,
Can someone tell me how to display language key (0LANGU) in the query? I want to display which language (English or French) is used for material description in BW report. Thx.

    hi,
check if the infoobject is kept as lang dependent or not  for material text, else you need to create a masterdata attribute with text and lang keys and do corresponding mapping, so then it can be displayed in your report

  • Unable to Connect to the Data Source with Report Builder when using a closed Excel file

I am using Report Builder 3.0 and to get started I am using an Excel spreadsheet as my data source.  I set this up just fine.  I can connect successfully if the file is open Excel.  But if I close the file, I get the error "Unable to
    Connect to the data source".
    This is my connection string:
    Dsn=Licenses;dbq=C:\USERS\AMEADE\DOCUMENTS\licenses.xlsx;defaultdir=C:\USERS\AMEADE\DOCUMENTS;driverid=790;fil=excel 8.0;maxbuffersize=2048;pagetimeout=5
Works fine if the file is open but stops working when the file is closed.  Any idea what I can do?

    Hi Alice,
Based on my understanding, when you keep the Excel file open, you can connect to the data source correctly. But when you close the Excel file, the error “Unable to Connect to the data source” is thrown out.
In your scenario, I would like to know if only this Excel comes across this issue. Have you experienced the same issue when you use other Excel files as a data source? As we tested in our environment, we can connect to the data source whether the Excel file
is open. You can refer to this
article to create a data source again then check if you can connect to the data source when the Excel file is closed.
If issue persists, I would suggest you use the
Process Monitor to capture the processes during the connection to the data source. Then check the result of each process to find the exact reason.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Change in the query of a report

    Hi All
Recently we have upgraded one of our siebel analytics 7.8 project to OBIEE 10.1.4.3.0. After upgradation we came to know one issue. Previously in Siebel 7.8, in some reports sql query, there was Round function. But in OBIEE, the same function is being transformed as Truncate. This is not creating any problem from Data side. But we want to know why it is being converted into Truncate.
could you please tell me why its happening like that... any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Sai,
Thank you for your reply. Infact, there is no upgradation of DB. We were using Oracle 10g for Siebel Analytics 7.8 and still we are using the same for OBIEE also. And can you please tell me what DB features will affect this transformation?

  • Query not running in report builder 3.0

hi, i can run my query in mgmt studio (version 2008R2) and within the query designer of report builder 3.0 but it will not run from report builder. i get a generic error message of "an error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)".
the query uses report parameters and is written with dynamic sql (using a pass-through to oracle). any ideas why the query doesn't execute in report builder ? thanks a bunch,

    Hi KanataPablo,
According to your description, it seems that you are using linked server to pass value to oracle. Seeing that the query is worked well in Management Studio, you may have the permission to connect to oracle (In this scenario, make sure the users to run the
query in SSMS and Report Builder are the same user). So this issue can be caused by the user’s permission to connect to report server, the credential of data source and the dynamic query.
We can add the current user as a Login, then click Properties and navigate to User Mappings page, enable ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB options.
We can try to type user name and password, and enable “Use as Windows credentials” as the credential used to connect to data source.
    Try with dynamic query:
    ="Select column1, column2 From tableName where ID IN (" + JOIN(Parameters!param1.value, ",") + ")"
    Hope this helps.

  • Add subquery to main query in Report Builder 6i

Usually, when you add a subquery to an existing query in a report, you'll see the query in data model marked by a paper clip icon with a forward slash across it (means "Subquery Inside"). All current field names in current query (except CF and CS) will have a '1' appended after it (CF and CS fields are not affected), but in your sql, the column names stay the same. So there is an out-of-sync situation with the column names.
    To fix this:
    1) before change anything, back up old report somewhere else
    2) copy the original query somewhere else as backup
    3) open the query in Report Builder
    4) wipe out the query, replace it by "select 1 from dual" to reset it and press ok.
    5) replace "select 1 from dual" with your new query with an embedded subquery.
    6) All field names will be without the '1' appendix.
    7) check all the CS fields, the source should be reset to null. Redefine the CS fields using backed up report as reference. CF fields are not affected.
    8) move the fields and restore the break orders according to backed up report.
    9) Recompile whole report.
    10) save report again and you're done.
Maybe you don't need this in the latest version of Report Builder, but in 6i, this is what I do.

If you use aliases for your item names in your original query you avoid this problem....
    eg
    Select field1 item1, field2 item2 from table.....
item 1 and item2 will stay in your layout between query changes.

  • Enable tracing in report builder

    Hi,
I am relatively new to oracle reports and report builder.
One of the report in our application is taking long time (5-7 Minutes) to execute. To pin point the reason, I executed the report and generated TKPROF for sql trace file. Execution of queries in database are not taking long (entire execution at database end finishes in 1 minute). That done, now I am trying to identify if formatting of the report (report is generated in PDF format) is consuming time.
To enable tracing, i referred steps as mentioned in oracle documentation
    http://docs.oracle.com/html/B14048_02/pbr_tune.htm#i1006821
however, on my report builder, the tracing option is disabled.
Could anyone direct me to the right direction.
    Report Builder version
    Report Builder 11.1.2.1.0
    ORACLE Server Release 11.1.0.7.0

Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production

SQL tracing only tells a part of the story. You need to enable reports tracing. I have had little luck enabling tracing thru the builder. I have had much success enabling tracing via the servlet parameters or the command line.
You need to set the following params:
    TRACEOPTS=TRACE_ALL
    TRACEFILE=rwservlet.trc
    TRACEMODE=TRACE_REPLACE
The resulting log.xml can be found at (ORACLE_HOME\reports\log)
    Happy coding!

  • Report Builder Subreport issue.

Recently, I've taken my church's fundraising database
(Access) and moved it to a hosted server. I've written CF code to
maintain all the tables and used Report Builder to create reports
(such as Bid Sheets, Labels, Thank You Letters). BTW, Report
Builder and cfreport ROCKS! However, I'm now trying to complete the
Thank You Letters to our contributors and I've run into a bit of a
    snag....
The letter starts out with a couple of paragraphs thanking
them for their contribution(s). I then print a list of all the
items they donated, followed by a couple of paragraphs summarizing
    and re-thanking them.
The list of items is a Subreport linked to the main query.
This works great by listing all their items. However, if the list
contains more than 3 or 4 items, it covers up part, if not all, of
the concluding paragraphs. I've gone in and change the positioning
of the concluding paragraphs to "Float" but when I process the
letter, CF hangs up and I finally get a JRun error. Then I have to
ask the hosting service to restart CF. The hosting service is
Godaddy.com and they are currently running CF 7.
Any ideas how I can solve this problem?
    Regards,
    Robert

To get extra pages just create some bogus groups on a field
that is unique. You can then turn on the setting to Add a Page
Break and completely hide the band, it'll work as your page break.
To see the binding panel, click on the subreport and look for
Subreport Parameters in the Properties Inspector, clicking on the
"..." will bring up the binding panel.
