Tracking Iphone 4s

If my Iphone was stolen does anybody know if the theif can be caught when they start a new account on the phone? The phone is locked to verizon so if I went there and gave them my serial number could they see that a new person has started using the same serial number? And could they get there details for the police?
Also, I can still send text messages from my iphone using the Imessage on my macbook. Does this mean the phone is still registered as mine its just turned off?

We're users. Why don't you try calling the shipper and giving them the tracking number. Maybe they can answer your question.

How to track iPhone with serial number?

No, Apple does not get involved in tracking devices.  The only way to track it is to have turned on Find My Phone on the iPhone, then locate it through your iCloud account.  But to do that Find My has to have been setup, the iPhone has to be powered up and connected to the internet.

  • Tracking iPhone without internet connection..

Is it actually possible to track iPhone without internet connection? I mean, the iPhone which I am tracking has no internet connection... (Example, has been lost in a foreign country and  the roaming data is not ON) Anyone has an idea how to do the tracking?

Short answer: no, it's not possible. Longer answer: The cellular carriers could potentially track the phone if it's on. However, they'd most likely only give that information to law enforcement with a proper subpoena.

  • App to track iPhone app usage

Does anyone know if there is there an application to track iPhone app usage?

Since all apps are "sandboxed", there won't be any app like that.

  • Questions on tracking iphone and viewing pictures and texts

is it possible to track the location of another persons iphone? also is it possible to look up past texts/picture messages on a persons iphone to "spy"?

You can track any iPhone with find my friends app but each owner has to approve the location app also I don't know of anything short of a court order that will let someone else see what you are doing on the phone. Now any iPhone or apple device that you know the I d and password for can be tracked from the cloud if they have find my iPhone enabled and anyone with access to the bill can see numbers of callers and texts although iMessages do not show up on the bill they can be set up to go to another apple device as well as your iPhone if they are set up to go to an apple I d instead of a phone number and the iPhone can have more than one numbers messages if they are using the same iTunes account

  • HT1391 A friend lost her iphone 4S, but she didnt download find phone, which she thought find phone was already in iphone 4S, during purchased. Now I can't help her to track iPhone & nobody Apple store in Msia, was able to help us.

    Dear Apple Customer Support,
    Last year A friend purchase a iPhone 4S - 32GB White.
When she purchase iPhone 4S, didnt realised she need to download Find Phone, has she thought it was already in iPhone 4S, system. I approved lots Apple Store in Malaysia, non could help me and all said the same, if you don't download Find Phone, there's no way you can trace it back. No doubt what they all had said is not wrong....but my heart said, am sure there's always a way to track or trace it back even without the Find Phone Apps. Knowing myself don't have such powerful system to find the phone back. Every Poison there's Anti-Dos for it. I know you have the power and system to track & trace the phone back by Apple. If Apple can build such powerful smart phone am sure there's always a way for you there to trace or track it. I had seem movies which even show but not many able to see the hidden message in movie or etc. All my wish was to least Delete or JAM the system by using the serial number or code which you produce in every iPhone 4S or etc. Least the person who took it, would not able to used it at all even if they wannt jail break it or does anything to iPhone 4S. Least they could do is either throw it away or return to Apple Store in individual country. I know what am asking might be impossible to asked, but its the impossible which its not impossible.
1st: Why build a system which so smart with all serial no and codes, but the "Find Phone" its not one of the Apps for iPhone?
2nd: Why must customer need to download "Find Phone" Apps and the rest of the Apple Apps in inside the Phone...? Doesn't make sense....
3rd: In any movie, you watched they will break the phone or throw it away and so they are not able to trace the person but the phone still can be trace or track...unless the person break the chips or put into Fire to destroy it completely, then YES, i believe it can't be trace or track.
Please kindly in your power to help or advice or bring this up to Apple Team Mind before all perfection to make iPhone....Metta
    Sincerely,
    GQ

  • Advice on best app for tracking iphone

I want to be able to track my kids iphone behind the scenes, what is the best app for this. I do not want my child to know the app is running.

Yes, I kind of guessed that. What I mean to say is that the service must not depend upon an App running upon the phone but uses the towers themselves and the inbuilt GPS providing the location.
The alternative would be a hacked phone with the hacking done by AT&T instead ?

  • Trying to track iphone

i bought an iphone from someone; then sold it at store, can that someone find out I sold it and if it's back in service?

Thanks, Michael, now let me flip it:
Let's say I was the original owner of the iphone (thru AT&T). I upgraded to 5; then sold 4s cause didn't need it, then that person re-sold it at store. Since I was the original owner of it, can I know if it's been put back in service, or re-sold?
No, you cannot.  Again, you can only set up tracking, or acquire information from the service provider, if it is your device, and under your physical control.  No company is going to hand you information about someone else's device or account.  Your being the original owner has nothing at all to do with it.  You are not the current owner, hence have no rights to information concerning it, and no ability to gather such information.

  • Track iphone with serial number

Can I-Phone be tracked by serial number if the i-phone was reconnected.

Well, Apple does not connect an iPhone to a network, cellular service providers do that (it is their network afterall, not Apple's).
And yes, if restored as new, anyone can use an iPhone as they wish.  If yours was stolen, you need to talk to the police about justice over it.

  • Protecting and Tracking iPhone from Thieves

    Hi,
I just lost/got my iphone stolen from me. Before I sadly spend money on another one I'd like to know if there is any way to track an iphone by hardware? This question is for a new iphone I get, not to find my stolen one.
My main problem is not having something that depends on your sim card being in or your OS not being wiped since otherwise it can be pretty worthless in a lot of instances. I think that's how mobileme works right? You need to have you sim card in and your OS not wiped.
    Thanks!

Protecting - Don't lose it or leave it around
Tracking - MobileMe will as you say, track a mobile if its on AND if you turn on FindMyPhone.
But you are also correct, it can be wiped and have the SIM changed and AT&T don't care as long as the thief takes out a subscriber plan. There is no other solution possible - you cannot stop an OS wipe and the thief can throw away your SIM card and use another.
No foolproof solutions other than not losing it or having it stolen.

  • ITunes says 1227 tracks, IPHONE and Touch say 1212 tracks

I see this in ITUNES 7.7X and now 8.0. ITunes reports 1227 tracks/songs @ 4.98 Gb BUT on both my IPOD Touch and my IHPONE 3G they say 1212 tracks/songs @ 4.83 Gb. I have looked under the Music folder in both the ITUNES and the Touch/IPhone and all tracks are checked for sync. Everything else syncs fine, Contacts, Pictures.
What happened to the 15 tracks/songs?
BTW I see this both on my PC and my new IMAC.

did you download any music from limewire. sometimes but not all the time limewire music will go in itunes library with no problem and will play with no problem but for some reason sometimes all limewire music does not get transferred to ipod

  • Track iPhone based on data usage

Is there any way to see where an iPhone last connected to the internet?
My iPhone was stolen and I'm trying to find it. I can see the data usage on my AT&T account after the time of the theft, is there a way to find where it connected at?

If you didn't enable the Find my Phone feature on your phone, there's no way to track it.  Call AT&T and make sure you report the phone stolen so your account can be deactivated.

  • Track iPhone

I'm not by myself, hundreds have the same issue.
Last night I was at a festival and magic fingers managed to extract my iPhone from my pocket.
I felt it immidiately, couldn't catch with the guy, called home and had someone remotely lock it.
    Phone is currently offline.
It's not out of battery, I can assure you. It was on 90% when he had gotten it and as it was locked he couldn't have drained the battery.
    He has either:
    1) Switched it off
    2) DFU
    The big question is:
Why is Apple so reluctant to help us help? Tons of people have given feedback on this.
Does Apple want us to lose our phones, or is it simply a matter of not giving a rat's a**e on such a wonderful idea, Find My iPhone?
One of the simplest things I can think of is slide to unlock in order to switch off.
DFU's slightly more advanced but anyone hunting iPhones would know how to do it. How about the need of the device being connected to a computer for that to be done?
My iPhone 5 cost me €799 and as a student I had to make A LOT of sacrifices for this.
Is Apple going to compensate for this?
What is the point of being able to track my phone if it pops up a month later at some warehouse in Russia?
I simply can't afford another one, I need this one back.
To go on about IMEI tracking I need to go through a lot of paperwork with police and carrier which by the time it's completed, my iPhone will be in that warehouse in Russia, amongst hundreds of others'.
I don't want questions such as: "Who in their right mind would take an iPhone to a festival"
Me, I would. A person who would like to take pictures, videos, be able to communicate whilst doing that with the same device
The reason I got the iPhone in the first place.
Angry consumer requesting answers here Apple..
Please, if you have any magic information that could help me get my phone back that google doesn't seem to reveal, hit me

That performs a reset, which is similar to a computer restart and doesn't affect any data or settings and certainly does not turn Find My iPhone off.
That means that the only way that it can be powered down is actually switching it off, that is even easier to deal with!
Good for you, but you are wrong. Removing the SIM card prevents Find My iPhone from working.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4047414?start=0&tstart=0
Bull ****. Grow up and take some personal responsibilty. The iPhone was stolen, which Apple is not responsble for.
I don't even want to know what "personal responsibility" stands for you but sitting about the house, missing out from all the features this phone can give me and staying in the fear of losing it  - which could be eradicated pretty simply - then why don't you just buy a 10 year old phone model?
The whole 'wipe your phone' business is clearly targetted at stolen phones, or misplaced and eternally missing phones. Apple did try this as a marketing technique whilst always refraining from using the word "steal"
I really don't care that a post such as this has made you this angry. That's how I felt when I found out I can't get my phone back.
Good day to you, thank you for not helping

  • How to track Iphone when its switched off

HI SUMBODY STOLE MY iPHONE 4, AND ITS SWITCHED OFF NOW, CAN ANYBODY HELP ME HOW TO TRACK IT PLEASE

There is no way to track it if it is turned off. Be sure to report the theft to authorities, and change passwords for any accounts that may be accessible from the iPhone.
