Tracking records change made by another user or session

How does oracle forms track records change made by other user or session?

I think the question is, how does Forms know to issue the error "FRM-40654: Record changed by another user. Re-query to see change".
I don't know exactly how Forms knows this. But in the past I have found that if a column has changed on the record, which you are not querying in this forms block, then you don't get the error. So Forms is perhaps comparing all the database values for the queried record, against the values that Forms has queried?
When you attempt to lock the record from Forms, you'll see that Forms issues a statement
SELECT <all the db columns in the block>
FROM <wherever>
FOR UPDATE OF <all the db columns in the block which are not query only>
Even so, in the database, that statement doesn't know what the values are that the Form has already queried. So Forms must be doing something else.
Hope this helps, it's a bit of a black box area I guess.

  • How to Track the changes made to the custom table field value

I want to track the changes made to the custom table field value in table maintenance generator.please help me it is very urgent
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kranti

    Hi Satya,
These are the steps you've to do.
    1. Enable the change document flag in the data element level for the fields of the tables you want to monitor.
    2. Go to transaction SCDO. Create a new change object, and add your table to this object. After generation, you'll get a function module.
    3. Call this function module in the table maintainence generator screen, after the data is saved to the database table. This function module automaticallly writes the changes, with the old and new values, and the fields that were changed to the tables CDHDR and CDPOS.
    4. You can keep track of the changes made to the table by monitoring these tables.

  • Tracking of changes made in CJ40/CJ42

    Hello PS Gurus,
As there is no standard report available to track/monitor the changes done in CJ40/CJ42 for a perticular CO Version, Can anybody help me on how to track the changes made for the cost/revenue planning in cj40/cj42 ?
    Appreciated for your quick response...
    Br
    Hari

    Hi Virender,
Thanks for your help. This helped me to achieve the exact requirement.
CJI4 is only to track the changes made while using detailed cost planning but in our case this doesn't helps me.
As we are using structural cost planning, CJID report helps to track the changes made in CJ40 w.r.t structural cost planning yearly and overall level.
Nitin and ahmed --> Thanks for your involvement.

  • VZ access manager is already running in another user's session

Help! My parents currently use an USB Modem - I think the 551 L - for their internet access. They have been receiving the following message:
VZ access manager is already running in another user's session
They do not have a wireless router installed.
    Help please!

VZAccess can only connect one user/session at a time.  Either your parents did not properly shutdown VZA the last time they used it or the USB Modem is not hanging up its previous connection.
The easiest thing to do would be to reinstall VZA on that computer and see if the problem goes away.  Ask your parents to disconnect the Modem before logging off or shutting down the computer to reduce the chance of the problem coming back.

On the other hand, there are those of us that appreciate the theft protection provided by the latest IOS.

  • How to trace the changes made by other user in portal

    Hi All,
Actually i have a requirement like, some body has done some changes in Development server how to trace those chnages in portals or Visual Admin (who is the user and what are all the objects that got changed) .
Actually our development system , Quality and Production systems are working fine till yesterday but when we logon to the dev, qua, prd systems today there are some changes and some of the things are not working client was asking us whether we have done some canges if not who has done the changes.
Is there any place where all these changes can be recorded (likes who is the user and changes ....) or traced like log files or any thing else
Can any one help me out in this regard.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ramesh.

    Hi ,
As you told some changes identified. so navigate to corresponnding portal obejcts and find modified and last changed by similar properties in the property editor object.
portal activity reports gives how many users visted specific pcd object but not who visited. You can use pcd filter to compare properties.

  • Track any changes made to the database.

    HI All,
I've been assigned the task, where I need to track down any changes made to that schema objects, pl/sql objects and. Now, is there any procedure or package which can make it possible.
    hare krishna
    Alok

I actually want to track all the changes in one perticualr schema. tables,
indxes , views and pl/sql objects.Okay, I'm going to presume that means you want to track DDL changes in the nominated schema.
the proper way to do this is not to track DDL changes in the nominated schema. Instead you set up a source control repository external to the database and store all the DDL scripts (i.e. files) there. If anybody wants to make a change to an object they have to check out the relevant script(s) and make the changes there. Once they have completed their changes they check the script back in. All builds of live (i.e. UAT and Production) systems must be done using scripts from the SC repository.
This may sound complicated and some people who have been used to a more cowboy approach will complain. But it is the only sensible way to manage change in a database. I have the scars to prove it. Listen to the voice of experience.
    Cheers, APC

  • Record  updated/deleted by another user. Re-Query to see the changes

    Hello,
I am using forms 6i. In the application that I have developed there are some field whose values if changed in runtime and saved and again tried to update that record
FRM-40654 will appear. At first, I thought that record is locked by someone. But it was not that. We face same problem again if that field is updated.
Please, give the solution if anybody have.

    Hi Prasanna,
if you are doing this in forms this could be because there are spaces in the actual value in the table.
Forms by default truncates all trailing spaces and this causes a problem when a comparision is done because the original string doesn't match the string in the text value in forms.
Eg if db has value "xxx " forms will convert it into "xxx" and these values do not match and hence the error.
Can you please verify if the actual value has spaces in it?
    Thanks.
