Transaction VL10 - Assigning user profiles & scenarios to specific users

Hi Experts
I have define a user profile 'Z103' (a copy of 0103) and assigned it to a scenario '0103' via Logistics Execution --> Shipping --> Worklists in the Implementation Guide.
I have also maintained paramenter Id 'LE_VL10_SZENARIO' and parameter value '0103' for the specific user via transaction 'SU3'.
The result that i am getting for this user is a default role/profile 'Z103' which is correct and default scenario 'VL10' which i think is incorrect. I expected the default scenario for this user to be '0103'.
Please advise if there is any missing config or master data.
Thanks, Felix

Hello Felix,
The default parameter id LE_VL10_SZENARIO  .
Your settings:
LE_VL10_SZENARIO  =  '0103'
In transaction, VL10CUV  scenario '0103'  =  'Z103'
Now if you run the VL10 transaction, by default the system takes the scenario '0103' automatically and determines the user role based on the assignment to the scenario in transaction VL10CUV.
Yes, you are right the system shows the user role 'Z103' correctly but shows VL10 as scenario. This is because of the default parameter id used in SU3.  There is no mistake, and the program is hardcoded like that.
You can see below the program details:
You can see where the assignment takes place here:

  • How to get User Profile Service information on user OTHER THAN current user?

So much information on how to autopopulate information for the current user or the logged in user in InfoPath.  But what about other users?  What if there's a field that's 99/100 times going to be the same person, but it's not the person that's
    logged in?
I would like not just to autopopulate a person field to be a specific user (which is not the current user), but I'd also like to autopopulate surrounding fields for that user's Title and Department.
For instance, consider the following 6 fields.
    1. Current User Name:
    2. Current User Title:
    3. Current User Department:
    4. Current User’s Supervisor’s Name:
    5. Current User’s Supervisor’s Title:
    6. Current User’s Supervisor’s Department:
I know how to get the first three; the internet is swarming with that information.
I'm struggling the last three; searching for this information is impossible without turning up information on current user instead.
The furthest I've gotten so far is to autopopulate Current User's Supervisor's Name by:
     1. Show Advanced View on Fields pane
     2. Expand my Field (which is really a group) called IT Manager Name
     3. Expand what shows up under that which is pc:Person
     4. Right click AccountId and choose Properties
     5. Set Default value to [our domain]\[IT Manager's ads username]
This solves how to get that 4th field my example list above Current User's Supervisor's Name to autopopulate, but how do I then get the Title and Department from the value I set in step 5 [our domain]\[IT Manager's ads username]?  Or is there a different/better
way altogether to go about getting a non-current user's info to autopopulate in InfoPath form fields?
    *UPDATE*
I just want to clarify that I'm not asking if there's a way to autopopulate the current user's supervisor.  I'm aware that Manager is one of the User Profile service fields.  But the point is that  I want to have a field in which the current
user fills in a username (different than his or her own), and to have User Profile Service called on that provided username to autopopulate Title and Department in surrounding fields.  The question is about how to call information with User Profile Service
on any provided username, specifically what steps to take to set this up in InfoPath Designer.

Have a look at the REST API. You can use the /_api/sp.userprofiles.peoplemanager/getpropertiesfor endpoint to query the user profile service for user profile properties of any user.
The API is documented here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn790354.aspx and here https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj163800.aspx

  • User Profile Synchronization for FBA Users in SharePoint 2010: Any successes?

Ok, so I've got my user profiles importing using forms authentication and my configured authentication provider (ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider) and profiles are importing (account name is domain\username).
However when the user logs in they don't receive this profile. Instead a second one is created in the format i:0#.f|provider|username and is not synced to their AD account (our business requirements require that we use FBA for authentication against Active
    Directory).
Has anyone tried or had any success in syncing FBA profiles?

I opened a support case on this issue and talked with Microsoft support (for 5 days).
What they told me is that you can NOT have both Windows accounts and FBA LDAP accounts both synchronize with the same Active Directory. The reason they say is that the account GUIDs are the same and the UPS will see that as a duplicate so it does not add
the LDAP account after the same Windows account has been synchronized into the profile database.
They tell me I have to write a script to synchronize the FBA LDAP accounts. I told them this is a product defect and I shouldn't have to write a script to do what the Profile Service is suppose to do out of the box. Microsoft needs to provide a hotfix for
    this defect.

  • Windows 2008 R2 File Server - user profiles appear underdirectory C:\user

I've a windows 2008 r2 file server and  few day ago I've noticed that under directory c:\users some user profiles have been created.
These users don't have rdp access to this server and don't use any ts application.
Is this a problem or a normal behavior?

    Hello,
IIRC this is normal behavior as they do a connect to the server to access the shared folders.

  • User Profiles Redirection

    Hello!
I have around 30 Terminal Servers in my environment and want to shift the user profiles on all the servers to a single location at my SAN without any cached user profile folders at all Terminal Servers. In this way, if I have to delete user profile of a
specific user, I will not be doing it on every server. Help Required.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server forum.
For migrating User profile you can set folder redirection and specify the location of folder in a user profile.
You can use Group Policy to specify another location (in other words, "redirect" the location) for folders within user profiles. You can redirect folders either to one location for everyone or to different locations based on the security group membership
of users. You can also configure additional settings for the redirected folder. The settings that you can configure include whether to grant exclusive user rights to the folder, move the contents of the folder to the new location, apply redirection policy
to earlier Windows operating systems, or specify system behavior if the policy is removed.
The path of the user profile folder is User Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Folder Redirection\UserProfileFolderName
Please check below articles for more information.

  • Some normal users profile on Windows Server 2003 ???

Hello, I manage a Windows 2003 Server in a school board of 30 000+ students. Each of these students have their home folder located on a share on one of our file servers (eg :
\\server\schoolID$\user) which is on the E:\ drive of the server)
For some reason, while browsing in C:\Documents and Settings on that server, we noticed that 40 of these users had an incomplete profile only containing these 2 folders and 2 files...
We have reviewed the security groups on the server and we are 100% sure that they don't have access in any way to that server (besides their home folder...). We also tried to connect using mstsc and they can't even log in remotely. We are wondering what
can cause the creation of some of these users profiles for these specific users? (Since 2011, there were only 40 profiles created out of 30 000+ students so it is not something that started recently or that is growing or touching all of our users...)
Any idea of what could be the cause of these mysterious incomplete student profiles on that server ?
    Thanks for the help!

OK...we've been able to reproduce the problem... A normal user simply has to encrypt a folder on his home folder located on a share on one of our file servers (eg :
\\server\schoolID$\user) and it will create the incomplete profile (see screenshot below - Right click on a folder - Properties - General tab - Advanced and select the last option) :
Can't explain why it behaves like this but at least, we know why this happens...

Can any one please advise me on how to assign a task to a specific user based on the value of the drop down list from the form. E.g. user fills the form and before they submit the form they have to select one of the name from the drop down list so the form can go to that person for approval.
    Thanks in advance,

I got it works now by using the xpath expression (in workbench) to assign to the selected user from the DDL in the form.

  • User profile synchronization service wont start after SharePoint Service pack SP2

    Hi
-Using SharePoint 2010 with 1 appserver and 2 frontend webservers on Service Pack2. (ms server 2008r2, SQLServer2008r2).
-Farmaccount has been set to local admin on all sp servers.
-Firstly, the User Profile Service Application runs fine and is started. Dont mix it with the User profile synchronization Service.
Prior to installing SP2 User profile service application and user profile synchronization service were running fine.
The first thing I did after the installation of SP2 was running the:
-psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait
    As SharePoint setup user (spadmin).
This ran fine on the 2 front end web servers.
However i got one fault on the Appserver:
    I have also tried:
PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures
which led to same resulting error.
So I tried to start the Use profile synchronization service as suggested manually by logging on with the Farmaccount, starting the user profile synchronization service through Central Administration. This led to Stuck on Starting status.
The windows services Forefront had status starting, then stopped.
    One question:
Prior to starting the User profile synchronization service through Central Administration. What account and startup status should the 2 Forefront Windows Services have? (Automatic and local system?) or (Automatic and Farmaccount?) or (Disabled and Local
system?) or (Disabled and farmaccount?). Because i know that SharePoint UPA will provision these services though Central Administration. However what is the default state prior to starting the Synchronization service?
    So i continue...
Since it was stuck on starting i stopped it with:
    stop-SPServiceInstance -identity <upaSyncguid>
    which gave me:
Stop-SPServiceInstance : An object of the type Microsoft.SharePoint.Administrat
    ion.SPServiceInstanceJobDefinition named "job-service-instance-36bdf2ef-58f2-45
e5-8f78-ab75f646611a" already exists under the parent Microsoft.SharePoint.Admi
nistration.SPTimerService named "SPTimerV4". Rename your object or delete the
    and i could fix with:
    #Stop the stopping:
stsadm -o provisionservice -action stop -servicetype "Microsoft.Office.Server.Administration.ProfileSynchronizationService, Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles,
    Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" -servicename FIMSynchronizationService
I also removed the forefront certificate from personal - certificate store, as this is provisioned when user profile synchronization service is provisioned.
That set the Central Administration Status on the User profile synchronization Service to disabled. Fine.
Everytime i tried to start the user profile synchronization service (logged on as farmaccount), left it for 10-15 min and did iisreset and restart sharepoint timer service, and also tried rebooting the appserver. No change.
A thought, is it important to restart timer service and do iisreset on the two frontend servers after trying to start the user profile synchronization service on the appserver?
I'm getting to the point were i just want to delete the whole service application and set it up anew...
any tips will be greatly appreaciated.

You're very welcome, hope it helped, if not the I suggest you clear the configuration cache as follows.
The config cache is where config settings are stored locally on the Microsoft SharePoint server, so a SQL call isn’t required.
    To clear the cache:
Stop the SP Timer service. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click
    Services.
Right-click SharePoint 2010 Timer, and then click Stop.
    Close the Services console.
On the computer that is running Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and on which the Central Administration site is hosted, click
Start, click Run, type explorer, and then press ENTER.
In Windows Explorer, locate and then double-click the following folder:
    %SystemDrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\SharePoint\Config\GUID
    Notes
The %SystemDrive% system variable specifies the letter of the drive on which Windows is installed. By default, Windows is installed on drive C.
The GUID placeholder specifies the GUID folder. There may be more than one of these.
The ProgramData folder may be hidden. To view the hidden folder, follow these steps:
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    Click the View tab.
In the Advanced settings list, click Show hidden files and folders under
Hidden files and folders, and then click OK.
You can also simply type this directly in the path if you do not want to show hidden files and folders.
Back up the Cache.ini file. (Make a copy of it. DO NOT DELETE THIS FILE, Only the XML files in the next step)
Delete all the XML configuration files in the GUID folder (DO NOTE DELETE THE FOLDER). Do this so that you can verify that the GUID folders content is replaced by new XML configuration files when the cache is rebuilt.
Note When you empty the configuration cache in the GUID folder, make sure that you
do NOT delete the GUID folder and the Cache.ini file that is located in the GUID folder.
    Double-click the Cache.ini file.
On the Edit menu, click Select All.
On the Edit menu, click Delete.
Type 1, and then click Save on the
File menu. (Basically when you are done, the only text in the config.ini file should be the number 1)
On the File menu, click Exit.
Start the Timer service. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click
    Services.
Right-click SharePoint 2010 Timer, and then click Start.
    Close the Services console.
Note The file system cache is re-created after you perform this procedure. Make sure that you perform this procedure on all servers in the server farm.
Make sure that the Cache.ini file in the GUID folder now contains its previous value. For example, make sure that the value of the Cache.ini file is not 1.
Check in the GUID folder to make sure that the xml files are repopulating. This may take a bit of time.

  • User profiles with multiple login accounts in SharePoint 2010

    Hello,
    Consider the following scenario:
We have Active Directory that is accessible inside our network. Except the sites, accessible from the corporate network, we are exposing SharePoint sites from the same farm on the internet, using claims based authentication with ADFS 2.0 using the same
AD instance as in the intranet.
The problems is that the claims based accounts are not linked to the profiles, that are created for the users by the User Profiles Synchronisation service.
Is there a way to configure the user profiles so if our users are signing in from internet, to access the same profiles that they have, when accessing the SharePoint sites from intranet?
(I've searched a lot, I didn't find excat solution. I've found something related to SPCLaims properties and had confugred them to sync with the AD using the "claims" trusted connection, but the problem remains.)
This is simmilar to allow our users to login using their Facebook, Google, OpenID identity or the identity in our AD. How can this be done?

SharePoint user profiles are not populated automatically when using claims-based authentication methods. You must create and populate these profiles yourself, typically in code. Users that map to existing accounts when you migrate to claims-based authentication
will use any existing profile information, but other users and new users will not have profile information. For information about how you can populate user profiles when using claims-based authentication, see "Trusted Identity Providers & User Profile
    Synchronization" at
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/brporter/archive/2010/07/19/trusted-identity-providers-amp-user-profile-synchronization.aspx.
The same limitation occurs when using SharePoint Audiences. You cannot use user-based audiences directly unless you create custom code to support this, but you can use property-based audiences that make use of claims values. For information, see "Using Audiences
with Claims Auth Sites in SharePoint 2010" at
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/speschka/archive/2010/06/12/using-audiences-with-claims-auth-sites-in-sharepoint-2010.aspx.

  • W7: User Profile Service service failed at log on: Apparently W7 is no longer creating any user profile data other than username and picture.

First time poster, but I think I've done my homework on this issue.
This issue has similar symptoms to a problem with vista: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/130095-user-profile-service-failed-logon-user-profile-cannot-loaded.html
However, it is definitely not the same issue (see further).
    Current Config:
    HP dv7-1450.
    W7 RC 7100 x64
Last update (up to date as of 8/31/09) installed succesfully 8/26/09 and should be unrelated to this issue (not verified yet by a pre-update restore).
Running with Admin account while diagnosing/troubleshooting.
Currently have two working accounts, one standard, one admin.
    Symptom:
New user accounts cannot be logged into.  On an attempted login to the new account, the following information is displayed on the login screen:  "The User Profile Service service failed the logon.  User profile cannot be loaded."  Windows then logs off the operator and returns to the initial user selection screen.  All other aspects of use are normal.
    Current Diagnostics:
First attempts to resolve this problem were to recreate the new account.  This was attempted when logged in as both Standard and Admin.  This was also attempted under safe mode.  This has been attempted with virus protection disabled.  All to no difference in the symptom.
The similarity to the Vista issue (linked above) caused me to check the registry entry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\ for the new profile (as suggested by that link).  Unlike that issue, there simply is no entry for the new user.  Examination of the new log entries from creation of account to attempted log in provides the following entries:

This error may be caused by network problems or insufficient security rights.
    DETAIL - Access is denied.
Naturally I started with the earliest error first, and decided to look to see what is going on.  The file that is trying to be copied is there, but the destination folder does not exist.  As near as I can tell, whatever process (the User Profiles General Service?) is trying to perform the copy does not have sufficient access to perform the operation.  Specifically I suspect it may not be able to create the appropriate folders before performing the copy.  Interestingly, it appears that when windows attempts to open/create a temporary account profile, the same issue occurs.  Since there is no registry entry either, I suspect that the issue also extends to the creation of registry keys, but I am not familiar enough with the sequence of events in the creation of a user profile to determine if this would come before or after a user profile's first login.
I attempted to find more information, and was able to investigate the UPS diagnostic event log (for a different, but identical attempt at creating and using the new profile).  The following two (unhelpful to me) log entries were generated.
Level Date and Time Source Event ID Task Category
Information 8/31/2009 12:34:10 PM Microsoft-Windows-User Profiles Service 1002 (1001) "The description for Event ID 1002 from source Microsoft-Windows-User Profiles Service cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
The message id for the desired message could not be found
Information 8/31/2009 12:34:09 PM Microsoft-Windows-User Profiles Service 1001 (1001) "The description for Event ID 1001 from source Microsoft-Windows-User Profiles Service cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
It seems to imply that the User Profiles Service may be corrupted, but this may also be unrelated.  I do not know how to specifically repair this service anyway (but am open to try it if someone can walk me through it a bit).
There's the info.  I'd like to figure out how to watch the account creation process in more detail to see if I gleen more, but I don't have the experience to know what to do to enable such a log.  I will not perform a reinstall and am loath to do a restore, instead looking more for a cause and effect repair: something that would actually help MS fix the problem rather than have the customer fix the symptom.
    Thanks in advance to responders!

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:

To resolve this issue, I suggst you delete the file C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\SqmApi\SqmData720896_00.sqm.Arthur Xie - MSFT

  • Create user profile with custom desktop settings

Hello everyone. I was wanting to create a new user profile called Testing and make it so that the account is only able to see 2 desktop icons.
Here is the problem I'm having. I have setup the default user as well as the All user profile to have specific icons on the desktop. These icons are coming from /ALL USERS which means if I delete them they go away for everyone. How can I make it so that this user profile only sees the 2 icons requested but doesn't affect the ALL USERS or Default User profiles ? Thanks for any solutions.
