Transfer all itunes to new desktop

We have some of our itunes on a big 'ole desktop, some on two different laptops, and some on an ipad. How can we make a new desktop the place where we will put all of our music, shows, movies, etc. and where we can go to to buy new music etc. and connect new devices as we buy them. Is there a limit to how many devices (ie. ipods & ipads) you can connect to one account?
Thank you! (:

By the way, the iTunes data in my PC contains files of my iPad2 & iPhone 4S. There are a lot space occupied by them.

How can I do to transfer all iTunes library from my Mac book Pro to Time capsule without to lost the alphabetic sequence of songs & artists? What is the correct way to transfer my 3000 songs to Time capsule, to free the memory of my Mac?
The following are the basic steps to transfer your iTunes Media folder from your MacBook Pro to the Time Capsule (TC). Note: You will leave the iTunes Library, and its associated files, on the MacBook Pro as you will only be moving the media files.
Be sure to shutdown iTunes before starting.
Next, move the "iTunes Music" folder, located in ~/Music/iTunes/, to wherever you want on your TC's internal hard drive. Remember to leave the Album Artwork folder, as well as the three individual library files where they are on the MacBook Pro.
Wait a while. If you have a large library, this will take a bit of time.
Once the iTunes Media folder has been transferred, open iTunes. Note: It will still be looking at your local iTunes Library on the MBP. As such it will think that the iTunes Media folder is still on the MBP as well. However, we just relocated it to the TC. If you attempt to select any song, you will get an error that the song is "missing." Not to worry, we will correct this in the next step.
We need to tell iTunes the media has moved to the TC's internal HDD. To change where iTunes "looks" for the media, open iTunes and go to the Advanced > General tab and use the "Change..." button to tell it where your new "iTunes Music" library is located.
Once this is done iTunes will likely pop up a progress window telling you that it's re-analyzing your library. Let it complete this step.
As a final check to make sure everything when as planned, click on any library file from within iTunes and press cmd + i (or View > Get Info). At the bottom of the Summary tab in that window is a "Where:" section that tells you the actual file path to that piece of media; be sure that path begins with the name of your TC's drive, and not "Macintosh HD."

Apparently I wasn't clear.  The music on my ipod is but a subset of all the music on my external hard drives.  I want to import only the songs and playlists from my existing ipod into the itunes library on my new computer, which currently has no music or playlists.  How can I do this?

How can I transfer all iTunes purchases from one apple id to another?

Don't agree. I have two accounts, one for work which I set up years ago and bought a few tracks. I've recently bought iPhone and iPad and created a home ID and wanted to transfer the old purchaces. Everyone says it can't be done, but I've done it.
    1. on the iPhone/iPad change your "store" Apple ID to the one you want ot transfer from.
    2. go into iTune on the device and download the purchaces.
    3. on you PC/Mac change the iTunes login to the same as the device's ID
    4. sync your device
    5. change both ID's back and the purchaces stay on both iTunes and your device.
    Delmar,
The procedure you describe is putting content from two different IDs into a single library, which can readily be done.
However, each item of purchased content will still be tied to the ID from which it was originally purchased, and they will be treated separately for purposes of Cloud, Match, Purchase History, etc.

  • How to transfer music library onto new desktop hard drive?

I just recently bought a new FreeAgent desktop 250 G hard drive because I was almost out of free space on my computer. Now I want to transfer all of my songs on iTunes onto that drive. How do I do that?

ok i clicked to "select all" on my iTunes and then dragged all the songs to the desktop hard drive. It says it is copying the songs. After it is done, I'll still be able to access all of the songs and sync them normally right? The only difference will be that instead of them being on my Local Drive they'll be on the desktop hard drive.
    Is that right?

  • Transfer all songs to new computer.

I recently purchased a new notebook and I want to do all my itunes work on it instead of my old desktop. How do I transfer all my songs that are on my ipod and on itunes on my old computer to my new computer? I tried storing all the songs on an external hard drive and then importing them from there. But itunes wants me to import each song individually. Is there a way to transfer all my songs at once? HELP

  • Wanna buy a new computer. I wanna transfer all songs to new computer without harddrive or wires.

Im thinking of buying a desktop computer soon. Currently using a laptop. The new desktop pc will be the main itunes. So now i just want to know how to have all my songs in my laptop's itunes to be transfered into the desktop pc's storage and itunes.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

How do I transfer my itunes to a new computer??

    Hello Darliene321!
Here are some helpful support articles to help you on your way to enjoying your music across all of your devices with iTunes.  In the future, I would recommend you state what kind of computer operating system (like a Mac or Windows PC version such as OS X Lion or Windows 7 etc.) you are using just to help the community pinpoint the best support option for your needs.  It would also help everyone to know which version of iTunes you currently have... the latest is the best for you (iTunes ver. 10.6 http://www.apple.com/itunes/ !)!  Also let us know if you have previous experience or how experienced you are with your devices.

  • Transfer ALL itunes-songs data

    Hi all,
I want to copy my itunes library from one computer to another one. However, if I make a copy of the library, not all the data of the songs are transfered. For example, if I put the songs in the new itunes the 'add date' is different than in the old itunes. This is of significance for smart playlists. Can I transer such data pieces to another itunes on another computer as well?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi JoelNLindo,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The resoure below will explain how to copy your iTunes Library and all data to a new computer.  Backing the library up to an external drive first is the method I recommend.  I've highlighted some key points, but you can click on the link for complete details.
How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT4527
    Before you begin
Make a new backup of your iTunes library or update your existing backup before you move it. Even if you already have a backup of your iTunes library, this step makes sure you capture any changes and makes the process easier.
    Migration
If you want to move your library to a new Mac, you can migrate your data from another Mac or a PC. If you are replacing your PC, you might be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. This option might be slower than other options, but it's more thorough.
    Use an external drive
If you're using this method on a Mac:
From the Finder menu, choose Preferences.
Make sure that the boxes next to "External disks" and "Hard disks" are enabled.
    Part 1: Install iTunes
Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
Part 2: Move any new content
If you’ve used iTunes on your new computer, move your media to a new folder. This will keep anything you added to your new computer separate from your old library. These files can be added back to your library in Part 4.
Move your iTunes Media folder (Mac)
Move your iTunes Media folder (Windows)
Part 3: Copy the iTunes backup from your old computer
To copy all of your media files, including the library file that holds all your playlists and other settings, to your new computer:
Locate the following folder on your new computer.
Mac: Choose Go > Home from the Finder menu bar. Double click the Music folder.
    Windows XP: Navigate to \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\.
    Windows Vista: Navigate to \Users\username\Music\iTunes.
    Windows 7 and Windows 8: Navigate to \Users\username\My Music\iTunes.
Drag the iTunes folder in this location onto the desktop.
Mac: From the Music folder to the Desktop:
Windows: From the My Music folder to the Desktop:
Locate the external drive on your new computer:
    Mac: On the desktop.
Windows: In My Computer or Computer.
Double-click the external drive icon to open it.
Drag the iTunes folder from your external drive to the Music folder (Mac) or My Music Folder (Windows) on your new computer. The transfer might take a while if you have a lot of content.
Mac: From the external drive to the Music folder:
Windows: From the external drive to the Music library:
    Open iTunes.
You've now moved all of your music, playlists, and other information—including play counts and ratings—from your old computer to your new one.
Part 4 (optional): Add back new content
Copy the iTunes Media folder you created in Part 2 into the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder inside the iTunes Media folder you copied in Part 3. iTunes will automatically import the content.
    Use iTunes in the Cloud
If you don’t have a backup of your iTunes library and your old computer is unavailable, you can download past purchases made with your Apple ID through iTunes in the Cloud.
If you have multiple Apple IDs, you might find it easier to transfer purchases from a device after authorizing your new computer with your Apple ID.
If you previously subscribed to iTunes Match, you can turn on iTunes Match once your new computer is authorized.
    After you transfer your library
If you plan to stop using your old computer, deauthorize it by choosing Store > Deauthorize This Computer from the iTunes menu bar.
If you used iTunes on your old computer to back up your iOS device, back up your devices on your new computer or manually transfer the backups from your old computer. Learn more about creating and deleting iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch backups in iTunes.
If you used iCloud with your old computer for syncing, set up iCloud on your new computer.
If you will continue to use your old computer, recreate your iTunes library. This prevents an iOS device from seeing the old computer as the new one because of the old library files.

  • I can't download library book through Overdrive Media to my IPod Touch. It won't transfer from Itunes since new update for the icloud

I've not had a problem before, but since the new update for Itunes, I can't download library books through Overdrive Media to my Ipod touch.  It transfers to Itunes but shows a message on my IPod that it can't sync.

I don't recall updating recently, but tonight I found I had the same problem.  However, if I plugged my ipod in, it then gave me the option to transfer to just ipod, or library and ipod.  However, that raises other problems, because you know we have to change these over from music to audiobooks.  Also, ITunes is freezing on me, even after doing a fix reinstall.  It looks like it's connecting to the store and I have to end task it.  Also, some freaking crap is going on with my ipod.  I "lost" my audiobook option I had locked to the bottom of my page.  Also, all the other music I had on my ipod is gone, wasn't much as I use this mostly to listen to audiobooks.  But the only music album there is the free U2 one Apple gave out a while back.  So I'm in it even worse than you right now as I have a 2 day trip planned and was adding more books to my selection, to listen while driving.  But try what I told you above.  If it does put it on your ipod, you can delete it and "fix" the info in iTunes, then transfer it back.

  • IPhone 4 - transfer all content to new phone?

    Hello,
My iPhone 4 was accidentally dropped in the sink and was exposed to clean water for a second or two. I immediately fished it out and dried it off with a towel. The phone (screen, buttons) was working, though the sound was no longer working.
I switched the phone off and followed advice to cover the phone in rice to draw out the moisture. It's been covered for 24 hrs, I am waiting another day or two before I dare to switch it on.
I am worried that even though the phone seemed to be working, it might be damaged and suddenly stop working. I want to get a new phone, same kind.
The old one was backed up via iTunes to my laptop.
My question is: if I get a new phone, is there a way I can transfer everything that was backed up from the old phone to iTunes, to the new phone?
I am talking messages, pictures, music, contacts, notes, the works, like a replica.
    If yes, how?
    Thank you.
    Kind regards

  • How do I sync up my iphone 4, so that I can transfer all date to new iPhone 5?

ATT told me to plug my old iPhone into the computer and sync it and then connect my new iPhone 5 to transfer data, but I'm obviously not doing it correctly.

Assuming you're using Itunes 11 I'd recommend this as it's generally the easiest way to do it.
If you don't have the side bar, hold down CTRL and press S.
It'll pull up a sidebar on the left side of itunes.
Under devices you should see your device there.
Right click it, and select backup.
Now remember, your new iphone won't see your old iphones backups if your old iphone is on 6.1 and your new one is on 6.0.1/6.0.2
Once the backup is complete. You can plug in your iphone 5, find it in the same device list and select " Restore Backup"
The rest of it is pretty simple/automated.

  • Not able to transfer all music to new computer....

My old computer keeps crashing when I try to back up all my music (store & imported) to my iPod at about the halfway mark, so half my music is stuck on my old computer. I am wondering if there is another way to pull ALL of my music into iTunes on my new computer without having to do it through my iPod or an external drive?

Ok, i have a similar question. I just got a new pc; my music etc was stored on an external HD, but now I can put it all on my pc. After a fresh install of itunes, I tried dragging and dropping the itunes music folder from my hard drive into itunes; after it was all done transferring, it still only transfered a third from my itunes folder from the hard drive to the itunes folder on the pc. any suggestions?
