Transfer of edits from Lightroom to Bridge

I've edited lots of photos in raw in Lightroom (Rated / cropped / adjustments etc.)  When viewed in Bridge, the editing does not appear in some cases.  The metadata is held in xml files, I can see them.  I have even ticked the 'Save metadata to file option'.  Clearly I'm doing something wrong, but it is clearly frustrating as the results are inconsistent!

The presence of XMP files does not guarantee that the metadata is up to date.
I would resave metadata to file and see whether this fixes the problem.
All develop edits writen to XMP files should be fully interpretable by ACR and Bridge.

  • How Do I upload from Lightroom and Bridge to the Creative Cloud

How Do I upload from Lightroom and Bridge to the Creative Cloud?

Adobe is still failing on this very important issue!
They said that their Creative Cloud Connection app would be ready in May/June, and here we are in October!
I wish Adobe would learn to not release products that are not ready to be used, my 20GB are useless to me unbtil they do something that integrates Br, Lr, Id & Ps specifically with the cloud. I really think that we should start charging interest for the money that we have been loaning Adobe for their developement process.

  • Will the Keywords transfer from Lightroom to Bridge?

Will the Keywords transfer from Lightroom to Bridge

In LR once you add a keyword, have that thunbnail highlighted and (if on a Mac) hit the Command Key + the S key and it will send the info so it will be readable in Bridge. Or go to Metadata and click to send metadata to file. (I don't know the shortcut for a PC)  I haven't done it with PSCC yet, but in CS6 I quite often had to close out Bridge and re-start it and the keywords showed up.

  • JPG's from Lightroom vs Bridge... file size difference.

I'm a Photographer. I only shoot in RAW. I use CS2 and Bridge to process my RAW files and then export the finals to JPG.
I heard the buzz about Lightroom and downloaded the trial to give it a whirl. I have since upgraded my trial version to full version (via serial number) and then took a set of RAW files that were already tweaked (via Bridge/ACR), copied them to another folder (with the xmp side car files), brought them into Lightroom and exported them to JPG. The JPG's created by Lightroom were MUCH smaller. I was very surpised by this.
I shoot with a Canon 20D and the JPGs generated from Bridge ending up being between 4 to 6mg per image. For the same set of RAW images, the JPGs generated from Lightromm avereaged between 1.5 and 3.5 mg. Both Lightroom and Bridge were set to export the JPGs at the highest quality.
Can anyone tell me why this would be? Has anybody else found this to be the case? I can't help but think that some data is being discarded from Lightroom.

Did you choose export metadata to file first? The edits made to RAW images are contained within the database as well as xmp files if you choose this option. The edits for all other formats are embedded within the file (as well as the database) but of course you have to choose the export metadata option first. Your files may be smaller because they don't contain this data.
The image quality settings are not like for like across the Adobe range so cannot be compared.

You cannot save DNG files from photoshop. This is because DNG lacks the support for the features you need.

  • Editing from Lightroom 4 to Photoshop CS5

    HELP!
My Lightroom 4 is not working great these days.
1 - When importing my photos from my memory cards, my "Catologue" area in Lightroom is GONE, no where to be found. How can I recover this!? It was pretty important to me to have this option.
2 - When I am wanting to edit a Lightroom 4 photo (CR2 file) into Photoshop (CS5), it wont work. What will happen is Photoshop will open, that photo I edited WONT save back into my Lightroon Library, it will save into my "PICTURES" section on my MAC laptop. What I want it to do, as its done before, is save it as a edited JPEG right back into LIGHTROOM so all my images are together. This is getting extremely frustrating !! I NEEED ALL THE HELP I CAN GET PLEASE ANYONE!

i'm having issues with moving edited images from LR 2.2 to CS 3 with the right mouse click (right click moves pics from lr to cs for more editing)
seems lightroom or cs is hanging up. either way, cs isn't receiving the image.

Deleting Preferences may have a better effect. Onna Mac, Cmd-E opens a LR RAW file in PS. Are you talking about the contextual menu you get by right clicking on an image?

  • Metadata from Lightroom to Bridge

Using Lightroom 3 to import images from SD card to Mac hard drive. Complete set of IPTC metadata entered as a preset in Lightroom, does not appear in Bridge. All the fields are blank. Would you please explain why this is happening, and pointme to instructions to do this correctly.

I believe you have to choose the option, "Write changes to XMP" to have that happen. For those files that you have already added the information, try highlighting them and pressing Ctrl(Cmd)/S.

  • Problems editing from lightroom to CS3

    Hi everyone,
This has quite possibly been addressed in the forums already, but I'm at the stage where I need this fixed now and don't have the time to sift through the existing discussions.   I hope that's ok?
I really hope  that someone can help me out here.  I've tried everything I know already before bothering others to help.
My problem is I'm running a new Lightroom 2 program at work and for some reason it won't convert the RAW files to PSD's for editing in CS3.  It doesn't even offer the "What to edit Dialogue" after right clicking on the photo in the flimstrip and choosing "edit in Photoshop CS3".  Therefore I don't have the option to "edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments" or "stack with original"....there's nothing.  Lightroom immediately transfers the RAW file straight to CS3.  In the past it has always  converted the RAW file to a PSD.  The "Preparing File for Editing" which appears in the top left of the screen also does not appear.  After the editing process in CS3, the filmstrip in Lightroom doesn't have stacks of processed photos either...just the original RAW file exists.
I also run lightroom on my computer at home.....with no problems what-so-ever.  I even went as far as to copy all the preferences from my home computer to compare with the computer at work.  Still no luck.  Now for the first week using this on the work computer, I never had any problems....all of a sudden I'm noticing the changes....like in the last week or so.  I don't know if some of the settings have been altered by another user, but this is frustrating me no end!!!
Any help or solutions would be greatly appreciated.....I thank you in advance and hope someone can help
    Cheers.......SHARON GALLAGHER

Jim thanks for the reply.  It's possible that the option not to show the dialogue has been checked....so probably explains why it no longer appears.  Since my home program is working fine, I copied all the preferences from there to the work computer like I said.  But maybe I missed something??
But the file that lightroom sends to photoshop is indeed a NEF file.  (I'm Nikon).  In all the external editing preferences in Lightroom, I've chosen PSD files....NEF isn't even there as an option!
There is a status bar that appears in the top left corner of the screen in Lightroom showing the progress of the conversion of files from RAW to PSD (or TIFF) as the program prepares the RAW files for editing in CS3......it's the same as the status that appears when the originals are being imported into Lightroom.....but this doesn't happen appear!  There is no conversion taking place the file name is still a NEF file one opened in CS3.
When I finish editing in CS3, only then do I get the option to save changes......and even then the message is - "Do you want to save changes to
****.NEF before closing?"  It is after I click "Yes" to this option in CS3 that the file appears as a PSD File.  So something strange is happening here.
Is there a way to reset everything factory defaults?  Where do I find that option?
    Thanks again for your help

  • How can I do a Photoshop batch edit from Lightroom?

In Bridge, I can go to tools > Photoshop > Batch and select a Photoshop Action to apply to some group of photos. Can I do this in Lightroom?

IF you create a droplet you can drag the files directly from the Library Module on to it (Mac)
If part of your process involves making derivative files from Raw then you can specify in the export dialog to run the droplet after processing.

  • Edit from Lightroom 4 to Elements 10

I recently purchased Lightroom 4 and tried to edit in Elements 10.  I got the same error message that has become popular on many forums.  Has Adobe come up with a fix for this yet?  If not, what is the timeframe for the fix?  I purchased Lightroom 4 with the intent of editing in Elements so this is very frustrating.  Also, what is RC2 that I have seen referred to on many posts?  Thanks for your help.

Have a read of the Lightroom Journal website where all the recent official information is available. The articles there will clarify the present situation.

  • Syncing Labels from Lightroom to Bridge and vice versa.

The labels in Lightroom over-ride those in Bridge and vice versa.  I have matched the descriptions of the coloured Labels between Lightroom 2.0 and Bridge, yet when I assign eg. a Green Label in Lighroom and then open Bridge, the Label appears White.  If I select those White Labels in Bridge and make them Green, then return to Lightroom and Sync the folder, those formerly Green Labels are converted to White.
Same thing happens with the Reject Flag in Lightroom.  It appears as a White Label in Bridge, which I can understand and wouldn't be a problem, were it not for other Coloured Labels in Lightroom displaying as White in Bridge.
Any one have an explanation for this and more importantly a solution.  Thanks.

I think you have to assign the exact same name to what the colors represent in both Bridge preferences and in Lightroom preferences.
I don't even remember what the default names Adobe assigns to each of them. I changed the words to the right of the Label colors to read "Red", "Yellow", "Green", "Purple", etc.
When in Lightroom I have to "Save Metadata to File" and then when I browse to that folder in Bridge I see the correct Label color.
