Transferring Desktop Workbook to Viewer

Is there any documentation that explains how to export a Discoverer Workbook to Viewer? I have created several queries that I would like other users to gain access to but cannot find any notes on how to accomplish this. If somebody could advise me as to how this is done, I would be very grateful.

You don't have to export the xxx.Dis (discoverer report) to any place.
What you need to do is few things:
1) Save the report in the DB from the desktop or plus - depends where you developed him.
2) share it with the user (or responsibility) that you want.
3) make sure that the user (or responsibility) have privilege to use the Business area that contain the elements that your report uses and that he can use the viewer (-do it in the admin tool).
That will be it...

Yes you certainly can.
Right click any desktop in the list > Settings > in the left pane select the desktop you want to auto connect to > check "Auto connect to this desktop".

Palm Desktop crashes when viewing one month in monthly view

Hi--this is a weird problem. Never seen it before.
--My Treo 680 (Win XP SP3), with Palm Desktop 6.2.2 seems to sync fine. I make changes in the Treo, it appears on the desktop.
--Also, I can view and edit the desktop in DAY view.
I normally default to monthly view though--and when I try to edit anything in a monthly view the Palm Desktop immediately crashes.This also seems to happen only with one month--July--where I recently added a lot of new appointments.
I ran the "check" tool for corrupted records, came up clean.
The data seems to be there and be safe and sync, but every time I try to access this one month from monthly view--it crashes.
Any advice, suggestions?

--I'm reluctant to downgrade versions. I use the same software on my Vista laptop as on my XP desktop and I'd like to confuse the issue or go through degrading both.
The dbfix program was more interesting. It found for Calendar: one appointment in several places that it said "blob goes beyond end of record."
I don't know what that means, but it was particularly odd as this particular appointment was repeated in multiple years as long ago as 1969, it said--which goes beyond the ability of the desktop software even to access; certainly I wasn't using a Palm in 1969, and obviously it didn't exist. So I deleted all of them but for that 1969 one since the desktop will only go back to Jan 1970.
After deleting what I could delete on the desktop, I sync'd.
Didn't help.
I ran the program again and the exact same older--presumbably fictitious-appointments from old years like 2007 were still coming up as checked errors. Hmmm. Apparently deleting them on the desktop helped not at all. So now I deleted one on the 680 as a test.
I sync'd. Immediately crashed the Palm, but when it came came back up. I doublechecekd--that 2007 record was now gone from everything, desktop and PDA. I syncd again,,,went through fine this time.
Ran dbfix again to check--just coming with that one 1969 inexplicable error. Ran Palm Desktop now. Ran the Options/Tools/Check record on the desktop (included utility) just to be sure--no errors.
The final test--running Palm Desktop back in monthly view. Immediately crashed again.
Shrug!
Now, I don't mind buying the dbfix program if that'll do it, but does this seem like something it needs to go through and might actually fix, as opposed to my manually deleting the things?

It's the same in Dreamweaver's Live view. It shows the new color on Desktop view and not in the cell phone or tablet view. Also, I changed the font itself in one of the DIVs and it shows up in the new font on the desktop view and website viewed thru the computer, but, not on the tablet or cell phone. Can someone please explain. I want to be able to change the fonts and colors for viewing in the tablet and cell phone, also. The fonts were all standard fonts. Sans-erif and Verdana and Arial were tried. Thanks.

I'm trying to use the Desktop Adobe Content Viewer to preview my folios, however I'm getting the following error message:

After I dismiss the message, the content viewer opens up, but shows only a grey screen.
I'm using Mac OS X 10.8, InDesign CC 9.1 and Adobe Content Viewer 3.3.0. I've tried reinstalling the Content Viewer and AIR, but to no avail. It works fine when I preview on my iPad, the problem is only with the desktop.
Would appreciate if anyone has inputs on how to solve this.

So I tried the following:
Download newest tools and install it
Create a new blank Folio (v30) with a simple page
Same error while starting preview from InDesign
I will now remove InDesign CC, test it and if this doesn't help I will reinstall CS6.
EDIT
Ok a complete reinstall of CS6 didn't help! I don't know what to do now. Any idea?

Can't test PDF folio on desktop Adobe Content Viewer

Hi all,
I get an error when I'm trying to test my PDF formatted folio on my desktop Adobe Content Viewer.
I get the error in Dutch (my language) but roughly it translates: "This folio contains one or more stacks that are not yet supported for the Content Viewer for Desktop. PDF stacks are only supported in iOS-viewers."
This happens when I click "preview" in the folio builder. I work on a Macbook with Mac OS X Lion.
Help would be appreciated since I can't find anything about this issue with PDF formatted folio's on the internet!

@Haeme – does not work for me. Sometimes yes, sometimes the Desktop Content Viewer is showing is a gray field.
Will test further, if there are any constraints concerning the rendering process of different objects.
Tested again. I had some MSOs on the second page that prevented rendering. They contain nothing but empty rectangles.
After removing ONE of the MSOs the rendering was fine. Did not matter if I removed the one or the other MSO.

Launch Aurora in both desktop and modern views?

Is it possible to launch Aurora in both desktop and modern views simultaneously? When Aurora first introduced the modern view, launching from a taskbar shortcut on the Windows desktop still opened the desktop view, while launching from the Start screen tile launched the modern view.
Is this still possible?

The desktop and "Windows 8 Touch" (modern) app now share the same [[Profiles|profile]]. This means you now have access to the same bookmarks, history, saved passwords, etc. from both apps. However, because of a limitation of our profile system, you can't run both at the same time while they are sharing a profile.
However, you can run both at once if you first create a separate profile for each app:

I'm sorry this process is so complicated! We want to make it easier to use both applications at once, but we may need to make some very complicated changes to our code to make that possible, so it's not likely to happen quickly.

Can i set up multiple desktop screens to view at once?

I am trying to set up a view different desktop views that I can alternate between. Is this possible?

You can ssh on any unix/linux/mac/windoze computer
have a look at putty which is an ssh client for windows.
2) Once a connection is established, can I use the GUI to handle file transfers, or would I have to do all of that from the terminal?
Yes, once you enable SSH on your mac (ie Turn on remote login in the sharing prefs) it also enables an SFTP server as well. So you dont need to use the command line to initiate the connection.
So you can use any PC SFTP client.I am not sure of the best PC SFTP client so you will have to google. Most SFTP clients allow drag and drop file transfers. From a mac to a mac the best SFTP client is transmit.

Report Layout difference in Discoverer Desktop and Discoverer Viewer

A report was developed in Discoverer Desktop. It is having some 10 columns as data points. The summarized columns for those 10 columns are required. But only 3 columns should be displayed in Detailed Data Points. So we shrinked(brought together) all the unwanted columns keeping 3 datapoints displayed. Now it is working fine in the discovere Desktop. But when we open the same report in the Discoverer Viewer, all the 10 columns are displayed in the Detailed Data Points as well.

good morning..hope u had a good sleep.
as per your last thought y'day, even though i create a function for the sum of season values n select those columns into the report, those will not be shown as summarized columns on right hand side of the report. they will be shown as datapoints for every month in that selected season.
i think the only possible solution for like this report is to hide those unwanted columns. for this we have hidden checkbox option in tools->sort while developing. but this option is available only for tabular reports.
if u come up with any fresh solution for the fresh day...i am glad.

Data are not transfered to a table view using signal out

Hi all,
we have recently upgraded to SP16 and I'm now facing a problem on my model that worked fine when we were on SP15.
I have a data service returning data to my model. The data are transfered to a signal out element and then displayed into a table view using a signal in element. Now the table view remains empty.
I have checked that the dataservice returns data because if I directly connect my table view with the dataservice the data are displayed. But my requirement is to use signal in/out elements.
This error was not appearing in SP15.
Any ideas?

After doing some tests I found out that if you have a model that has more than 2 signals in/out then the 3rd one will not work. This is definitely a bug.
Hope that soon there will be a SP without any new bugs!

How to run a workbook in Viewer 4i

I need to run workbook from Apps menu which is using Discoverer Viewer 4i but I created this workbook in Discoverer 10g.
My problem is am not able to view the 10g EUL in which I created this workbook under Discoverer Viewer 4i Options-->End User Layer Access list box
So, Iam facing Error like
'Unable to find the Workbook named'
Could anyone help me its very urgent

You cannot use Viewer 4i to view a 10g workbook. The 4i and 10g EULs are not compatible.

I know this is an old thread, but I got this same error while following along with your DPS Essential Training Lynda.com tutorial, chapter "Previewing Your Work" on the desktop, using the tutorial files for that chapter as directed. I'm using CS6, and the viewer version goes no higher than 24; when I check for updates, there are none available. Might this error be related to viewer version or an error in my folio creation?

Bob, Thanks. I figured as much. However, as mentioned, when I try to update through InDesign Help as you recommend in the tutorial, no updates show for Adobe DPS; also when I log in to the Folio Builder panel, I can't even use anything since it's not updated.
To circumvent, I downloaded the most recent update. But when I try to install, I get this message:
DPS Desktop Tools CS6 32.0.0 Update
Update is not applicable. Error Code: U44M2P28
Not sure where to turn next as clearly things need to be updated. Thanks for any insight.

Problems with desktop/app sharing/viewing through conference

We have a problem with viewing shared desktop/app with external contacts in a conference. We're able to share/view desktop/app directly with an external users, but not in a conference. We get the error message: "Sharing failed to connect due to network
issues. Try again later."
If we're using the web app on the same computer where we have the problem, we're able to view the content in the conference.
It's working fine internally, it's also working fine when users are outside of our office.
All other functions in Lync are working fine.
We have 1 standard Lync server and 1 Edge, we don't have a reverse proxy but multiple IPs with port forward to corresponding ports on each server.
How does the Lync client connect the shared content?

Create web template according workbook - like view and query?

Is it possible generate automaticaly (or manualy) web template according workbook. I can create templates in designer only for query or view but not workbooks.

this is technical not possible, because this is a totally different technology. May you can achieve this with a lot of ABAP Coding. First you need to know which queries are in the workbook. You can get this with Funtion Module:
RRMX_WORKBOOK_QUERIES_GET
Now you must create a WebTemplate:
May you do that in ABAP two. Create a big string with all the tags the webapplication designer creates normally. After that you must store that template to database:
The ABAP OO CLass CL_rsz_www_db_interface has a methode called SET_template. I recommend to record a trace with transaction rsrtrace, to see what kind of parameters are necessary to store a template to database. After that you can execute the newly created template in browser.
But i do not exactly know why you want to do this stuff.
And it is definately not recommended to do such things.

[Desktop] Every grid view should have an option for a vertical listing

For example the Artists screen under Your Music, and albums displayed on an artist page. Grid views are kind of pretty if you like colours. They're pretty awful for finding a particular thing by name. For example if I am looking for Infected Mushroom I have to scan down the left column for something around roughly "I" in the alphabet, then switch to scanning sideways. It all happens very fast but it's tedious and it is more cognitive effort than required. Compare this with the current iTunes Artists view on OSX. It gives you all your artists stacked in a single column on the left. It's very easy to scan with your eyes for a particular artist using alphabetical order. By all means keep the grid views—please just add another option so those of us who prefer one-row-per-item can have it.
