Transient java object instance from jvm through jni?

Hello, All
Sometimes I want manage the memory take by object instance,
for example, If I want to design a cache which cache a huge number object.
Then, there may two problems:
1, May occur OutOfMemory error.
2, I want like to manually reclaim the memory take by the cached object,
not by gc, because it may take a little time to check the reference for gc.
Just as you know, there is keyword transient for serialization.
I want know if some same mechanism for object instance creating or release, managing memory by jni, or by some other way?

No, since you're not supposed to do that. hence you can't really expect Java to provide the means...
Maybe you can use classes like WeakReference etc. but that won't bypass GC.

    Here is a tutorial that explains how to use jsps and javabeans together.

    Quick question is sounds like you are pretty early in your development phase. Have you considered adopting JSF. You may find it a bit easier.

  • How to read Java Object message from JMS Queue using JMS Adapter .

    Dear All,
    In my scenario i have to read a java object message from JMS Queue . I tried by using the JMS Adaper ,but i am not getting any Payload . Can any one tell me is there any special settings for JMS Adapter to read the Java Object message .
    I am able to read the Message successfully thru JMS Adapter but in SXMB_MONI it is not showing any payload .
    I also went in Message monitoring but i am getting this type of message in Sender JMS Adapter  in Audit Log.
    JMS Message ID XXXXX Message Type Null unknown.Payload can not be read and will be empty.
    JMS Message ID XXXXX Payload Empty can not read.
    Please Help.
    Lateef

    Hi,
    As far as i know, JMS Object Messages is not supported by XI JMS adapter.
    you need to have the JMS provider to transform the message to bytes messages.

  • Debugging Java code from c++ through JNI

    I have c++ application calling java methods through JNI. From c++ when I call the java method through JNI how do I debug the java code? It would be of great help if I get to know the settings that I need to do. I am using VC 6.0 for C++ and JBUIlder 8 for JAVA application.OS used is Windows 2000.

    Put
    _asm { int 3 } to C code in the proper place and start your java application. When C code reaches this debug break it shows a dialog to attach the debugger. Attach C debugger and debug Java and C codes.

  • Java Webservice calling C function through JNI

    I have a java class that is using the JNI to call native interface written in C. The called C function has dependencies in vendor supplied c function library in .lib (CAUEVT.LIB) format. I compiled the C function as .DLL file and put the .DLL file in the -Djava.library.path and same thing I put in the opmn.xml file for the Java option.
    Now, when I run the Java class from command line it works fine and makes call to the external system everything works fine.
    However, when I deploy the same as web service and try to test the web service, Java expects the external library also in .DLL format (The error message is "This application has failed to start because CAUEVT.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem")
    If I look the application log file, I see the following error.
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: D:\lib\CAEventLoggerImp.dll: Can't find dependent libraries
    at java.lang.ClassLoader$NativeLibrary.load(Native Method)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary0(ClassLoader.java:1751)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(ClassLoader.java:1676)
    I am wondering if the java class can run without any problem, why is the webservice execution fails....?

    The problem was that when Java loads the shared DLL we create from the java.library.path setting, but if the loaded DLL refers to any other DLL, it expects it from the System path. And for some reason, OC4J, doesn't expose all the system path unless entered in the Evnironment Variable explicitly in the Administration tab in OEM., server properties in the OEM. (opmn.xml)
    IT works fine after these changes.

  • Refering to object instances from a jsp

    How can i call object instances within class instances in my application -- from a jsp?
    In other words, i want to reference to an pre-existing application instance of a class.
    I do not want "use:bean" -- which will use a class (not the specific instance i am looking for in the application).
    I also do not want a binding to a variable only ( #{class.variable} ).
    Thank You!
    eric

    That's a good reminder of how to positively access class2, stevejluke. Thanks.
    However, i have found by trying to access a simple String in Class1 that the class1 instantiated by the jsf page (this comes up first in the application and has components which require Class1) is not the same instantiation that being accessed by the jsp page (which is navigated to by a button from the jsf page).
    I put:
    <jsp:useBean id="myBean" class="com.mycompany.expense.EntryHandler" scope="session"/>
    at the top of both the jsf and the jsp page.
    faces-config.xml has:
    <managed-bean>
    <description>
    Glue bean for entry related events and the current entry data
    </description>
    <managed-bean-name>entryHandler</managed-bean-name>
    <managed-bean-class>
    com.mycompany.expense.EntryHandler
    </managed-bean-class>
    <managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope>
    <managed-property> ((about 4)) <managed-property>
    <managed-bean>
    I tried setting <managed-bean-name> equal to the id in the jsp:useBean tag but drew the an error indicating the the <jsp:useBean ...> tag had instantiated the class before the faces-config.xml file had -- hence the managed property could not be found.
    I also tried putting name="entryHandler" in the <jsp:useBean > tag, but this is not allowed.
    Hmm, how to get the <managed-bean> and <jsp:useBean> to match?
    Maybe i have to put in code to the effect "get context " "get instantiation" etc,
    I'll have to try looking it up . . .

  • Is itpossible recover BPM Object instance from Screenflow in Grab Activity?

    My process has two roles: role1 and role2.
    role2 has an activity of type "Interactive" and the implementation type of this activity is Screenflow, in this Screenflow I have an instance variable of the type BPM Object.
    role1 has a Grab Activity from Interactive Activity that describes above, the Grab Activity has a unconditional transition to another Interactive Activity and this Interactive Activity has the same implementation type of the Interactive Activity of the role2 and points to the same Screenflow.
    I need to recover the values of the BPM Object that filled in role2, in other words, I need the same instance of the BPM Object in Interactive Acitivity of the role2 in the role1.
    If an user filled a field called "name" of BPM Object in the Interactive Activity of the role2, it needs to see that value in the Interactive Activity of the role1 after grabbed this activity of the role2 to role1.
    Is it possible?

    Hi,
    Sure it's just me, but I got a bit lost with the description of what you're trying to do. One place I got lost was in the discussion of roles. Roles are used in Oracle BPM processes for a variety of reasons, but I'm not sure they're germane to your problem so I'm trying to rephrase your question without their use.
    Here's my attempt to rephrase what it is that I think you're trying to do:
    1. I think you have two activities. I'm naming them "Check Credit" and "Final Check"
    2. I'm guessing you have a transition between the two activities "Check Credit" and "Final Check"
    3. Your process has an instance variable that is a BPM Object that I'm naming "customer". Since it's a BPM Object type, it has a variety of attributes (e.g. customer.name, customer.address, etc.)
    4. You have a Grab activity that has its "Runtime" property set to be "Defined" (meaning you have transitions defined coming into and out of the Grab activity). I think you might have a transition going from the "Final Check" activity to your Grab activity and I think you might have a transition going from the Grab to the "Check Credit" activity.
    Does this describe your process? I'm assuming you probably want to have the instance variable revert back to original values of the instance variable object before work was done in one of the activites, but don't want to head too far down this path until you confirm that this is what you want to know.
    Thanks,
    Dan

  • Object instance from bean to bean

    Hi.
    I have backing bean with next structure:
    import mypackage.ClassA;
    public class BeanName1{
    private ClassA instanceClassA;
    public ClassA getInstanceClassA();
    public void setInstanceClassA(ClassA a);
    public class BeanName2{
    How can I get instance fro object instanceClassA in other bean class BeanName2?
    Thx.

    Sinnerman,
    Exactly what are you trying to do? What are the scopes of your two beans? Depending upon what you are trying to do, there are different answers as to the best way...
    For example, if you're trying to pass parameters from one page to another, you could look at using af:setActionListener.
    Another method would be to inject the value into the second bean as a managed property (assuming the bean scopes would support it).
    In short - more information is needed about what exactly you are trying to do in order to suggest the best approach.
    Regards,
    John

  • How to Use Transient View Objects to Store Session-level Global Variables

    hi
    Please consider section "40.8.5 How to Use Transient View Objects to Store Session-level Global Variables"
    at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/b31974/bcstatemgmt.htm#ADFFD19610
    Based on this documentation I created the example application
    at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2010/ProgrammaticalViewObjectAndRollbackApp-v0.01.zip
    It behaves as show in the screencast at http://screencast.com/t/qDvSQCgpvYdd
    Its Application Module has a Transient View Object instance "MyEmployeesContextVOVI", as master for the child View Object instance "EmpInCtxJobVI".
    On rollback the Transient View Object instance keeps its row and attribute values.
    Also when passivation and activation is forced (using jbo.ampool.doampooling=false ) the Transient View Object instance seems to keep its row and attribute values.
    questions:
    - (q1) Why does the expression #{bindings.MyEmployeesContextVOVIIterator.dataControl.transactionDirty} evaluate as true when a Transient View Object instance attribute value is changed (as shown in screencast at http://screencast.com/t/qDvSQCgpvYdd )?
    - (q2) What would be a robust approach to make a Transient View Object instance more self-contained, and manage itself to have only one single row (per instance) at all times (and as such removing the dependency on the Application Module prepareSession() as documented in "5. Create an empty row in the view object when a new user begins using the application module.")?
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

    Thanks for your reply Frank.
    q1) Does sample 90 help ? http://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/examples/
    Yes, the sample from Steve Muench does help, "90. Avoiding Dirtying the ADF Model Transaction When Transient Attributes are Set [10.1.3] "
    at http://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/examples/#90
    It does point out a difference in marking transactions dirty by different layers of the framework, "... When any attribute's value is changed through an ADFM binding, the ADFM-layer transaction is marked as dirty. ...".
    This can be illustrate with a small change in the example application
    at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2010/ProgrammaticalViewObjectAndRollbackApp-v0.02.zip
    It now shows the result of both these expressions on the page ...
    #{bindings.MyEmployeesContextVOVIIterator.dataControl.transactionDirty}
    #{bindings.MyEmployeesContextVOVIIterator.dataControl.dataProvider.transaction.dirty}... where one can be true and the other false respectively.
    See also the screencast at http://screencast.com/t/k8vgNqdKgD
    Similar to the sample from Steve Muench, another modification to the example application introduces MyCustomADFBCDataControl
    at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2010/ProgrammaticalViewObjectAndRollbackApp-v0.03.zip
    public class MyCustomADFBCDataControl
      extends JUApplication
      @Override
      public void setTransactionModified()
        ApplicationModule vApplicationModule = (ApplicationModule)getDataProvider();
        Transaction vTransaction = vApplicationModule.getTransaction();
        if (vTransaction.isDirty())
          super.setTransactionModified();
    }Resulting in what seems to be more consistent/expected transaction (dirty) information,
    see also the screencast at http://screencast.com/t/756yCs1L1
    Any feedback on why the ADF Model layer is so eager to mark a transaction dirty is always welcome.
    Currently, question (q2) remains.

  • Is it possible to create the memory for a Java object in C/C++?

    Is it possible to have a C/C++ program allocate some memory, then have JNI use that memory for primitive java objects (such an array of bytes) that are passed to Java objects ?
    I would like to allocate a region of memory in C++, then give that memory to a Java object (via some kind of JNI type) and have that Java object fill the memory region with data.
    My impression from reading the JNI API and the few examples I've looked at is "No", there is a strict boundary between C++ and JNI as regards memory management. There may be serious implications as to why what I'm suggesting is not feasible, I am not enough of a JNI expert to know yet, and would greatly appreciate any input/comment.
    Many thanks,
    Colm.

    No, you cannot. However, writing your JNI code you should not use memory of Local Heap (if it possible). Because Local Heap Memory used also by JVM. I have developed tools that generate C++ wrappers for JNI code. In these wrappers I use mainly Global/Virtual Memory. I also reduce to minimum creation of local/global references, as it is affects to JVM memory use. If you are writing JNI code under MS Windows then you can try my tools that automate JNI code writing:
    http://simtel.net/product.php[id]93174[SiteID]simtel.net
    http://simtel.net/product.php[id]94368[SiteID]simtel.net
    Now I am developing this tool for .Net. In two weeks it will be finished.

  • Bug in Java objects not serializable

    I plan to use the latest version TopLink 10.1.3.1.0 with Oracle Database 10g (10.2.x).
    Do I still have to use the “Type Conversion” mapping as I had to do in order to address the reported non-serializable bug exiting in TopLink (9.0.4.5). See the link for the bug description:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/1012_solaris/relnotes.1012/relnotes/toplink.htm#CEGEBDEG
    My Java object instance variable is defined as java.sql.Timestamp and the corresponding data type on the Oracle DB is defined as TIMESTAMP(6). Can I use the direct-to-field mapping from now on with new TopLink 10.1.3.1.0 without the serializable issue? If I still have to use the Type Conversion mapping, please help provide some detail about the mapping.
    Many thanks for any help.

    From what I can understand from your reply, I can use the direct-to-field mapping for Java class attribute of java.sql.Timestamp to the Oracle DB 10.2.x data type of TIMESTAMP(6) without any issue of not serializable. Please confirm. Many thanks!
    By the way, I am having the same issue (Java objects not serializable) with Oracle DB 10.1.x when I use the direct-to-field mapping. It seems to me that this is more than the Oracle 9i JDBC driver.
    If I have to do this with TopLink 10.1.3.1.0 + Oracle 10.2.x, I plan to use the Type Conversion with:
    Java class attribute: java.sql.Timestamp
    DB data type: oracle.sql.TIMESTAMP
    Is this the proper way to do it? Please confirm.

  • Get / Cast a Java Object

    Does anybody know how to get (or Cast) a Java Object returned from a Java method call ?
    Example:
    <cfset someList = object1.method1(someString, JavaCast("float",someNumber),...)>
    This method returns a list of Java object of type "Object2". ie. it returns List<Object2>
    Now I attempted to loop thru each objects from the returned list, and invoke some method on them, using code similar to below,
    <cfset var="#someList[index]#"/>
    but ColdFusion does not seem to understand the object "var" as Java "Object2". Is there any way I can cast the "var" to "Object2"?
    Thanks in advance.

    "var" is a reserved keyword! You can initialize variables with "var" in the beginning of a component, but do not use it as a variables name:
    <cfset var someVar = "#someList[index]#">
