TRANSLATION BUILDER

1. As per the help provided by oracle I have imported all the strings
of an existing form using the base language as American and the
character set as WE8ISO8859P1.
2. Then added a translation using the base language same and the
Translation language as ARABIC and the character set as
AR8MSWIN1256.
3. Then saved it.
4. Then exported the translated strings to the same .FMB file in the same
location using translation language as ARABIC and the character set
as AR8MSWIN1256.
5. Then generated the .FMB file (The form) and then run it. But it is
not giving the required output , the ARABIC font labels.
Please Tell me what was going wrong or we missed any steps in between
ASAP.
Thanks & RegdsSimhalu

We were also facing the same problem i.e. after exporting the translated strings when we were Running the form through Form Builder
the Transltion was not appearing instead the original form was seen.
But, we managed to solve the problem in a rather strange manner that follows:-
1)After exporting the Translated Strings from the Translation Builder. Set the NLS_LANG setting to the value specified in the Translation Builder.
2)Compile the .FMB through "Forms Compiler". this will generate the .FMX
3)Run this .FMX through "Forms Runtime" you will get the required form Translatd. BUT
4)Remember only the string will change i.e. the key stroke values will appear in english alphabet only. SO
5)To get the desired language , Font, Fontsize etc. before step 2 open the form in "Form Builder" . Go to the Layout editor change the font properties etc. and save the form and then follow step 2 onwards.
4)To see the original untranslated form. Change the NLS_LANG value to the original one then follow step 2 & 3.
------ Now I request to all readers of this to please Comment on this and tell me where I
am wrong or Is there a better alternative.
Thanks

  • Oracle Translation Builder: Japanese characters in question mark (????)

    Hi All,
We need to translate a custom from labels from English to Japanese, so that both US and Japan can use that form.
So we have used Oracle Translation Builder to specify the translation. As an initial step, we just changed the labels to some other english words. And now we have generated American .fmx and Japanese .fmx. And we are able to see the difference.
Now in Oracle translation Builder(OTB), if i paste Japanese characters in the translation editor, we are able to see the Japanese characters. But if we save&close the OTB and re-open it, we see all the question(???) marks. Even if we generate/upload the Japanese.fmx to applications, we are seeing the same Japanese ??? marks in the applications.
Can you please let me know, what am i missing...
(I have installed the Asian language (ARIALUNI.ttf) in my local system.)

May be You should set the environment variable NLS_LANG to "JAPANESE_JAPAN.WE8MSWIN1252" or "AMERICAN_AMERICA.JA16SJIS" will allow you to store Japanese providing the input data is truly JA16SJIS and if the database is also in a character set that can store Japanese like UTF8 or JA16SJIS).
Or use Oracle Translation Hub it is useful tool. It replaces the OTB :-)

    Hi,
You can add attributes in the View to store the selected values .
For eg  Add gv_index type i.
Now in the On select first table add a parameter NEW_LEAD_SELECTION type IF_WD_CONTEXT_ELEMENT in the action.
    Now
    use the get index method.
      CALL METHOD new_lead_selection->get_index
        RECEIVING
          my_index = lv_index.
    wd_this->gv_index = lv_index.
Now when u press the Delete Button the wd_this->gv_index gives the current index which u have selected before
And in the properties of the table SelectionMode use singleNoLead proerty so that the user has to select some value to delet the records.

  • Translation Builder an WebForms

I need to translate my forms in many european languages and I decided to use Translation Builder.
Translation Builder, I belive, choose the language using the registry NLS_LANGUAGE parameter.
When I try to use it in WebForm I can't change NLS_LANGUAGE for each user because, I use only one server, how can I distribute my forms over the web in different languages ?
    Any idea is wellcome.
    TIA
    Tullio

It is possible. This can be done by defining
ports for each language, for example 9000
for English, 9001 for Italian, etc. The
Forms Server process reads the NLS registry
    entries or environment variables just
before starting. In this way create a CMD
file (if your environment is NT) with the
    following format :
    set NLS_LANG=...
    ifsrv60 port=9000 ...
    set NLS_LANG=...
    ifsrv60 port=9001 ...
To execute this CMD as a service to avoid
starting it each time de server reboots
get the utility SVRANY.EXE and INSTSRV.EXE
from the NT CD Toolkit or from the
Microsoft Web Site (there is also a small
document explaining how to use them). I
have made some tests with this schema a
long time ago, so I am not sure if I
forgot something. Let me know if you have
any problem. My mail is :

  • HINDI Language Support In Translation Builder??

Can by any means existing Forms 6 application
be converted in to "Hindi" or any other Indian language (ONLY GUI PART) by using Translation Builder.

There is no way for the end user to add languages, phones are pre-installed with a set of languages relelvant to teh countries where they are intended for sale.
You may be able to get the Hindi language pack added by a Nokia service point, but they are not required to do this and not all of them will.

  • Translation Builder : XBD-00024

When trying to add a new project in Translation Builder after the database connection created, I got the error XBD-00024: Translation Builder tables not found.
The action is 'Go to the Forms Developer Administration program group, double-click on the Translation Builder tables icon, and enter the appropriate connect string.'.
But I don't see where the Forms Developer Administration is. Therefore I can't continue.
Could somebody help me out ?

    Hi,
In order to use TranslationBilder you first need to create the Oracle Translation Builder Tables in your
database. There is no option in the program groups related to Oracle Developer
    that offers you this possibility.
First thing to do is to check if the necessary sql-scripts are already installed. Check the directory %ORACLE_HOME%\tools\dbtab60\otm60 (in case of version 6i)
If this directory is not there, or it is empty you first need to use the Installer and install from your Developer CD the 'DataBase Tables'.
After that you are ready to install or create the Oracle Translation Builder tables in the database as follows :
    1. Connect in SQL*Plus to your database as SYSTEM.
    2. Run the script sqlbld.sql, normally located in the directory %ORACLE_HOME%\tools\dbtab60\otm60
    3. This will create all the tables, indexes, and synonyms required by Translation Builder.

  • Translation Builder with Apps

    Hi,
We have some custom forms in Oracle apps (11.5.10.2) and would like to extend it to more than 1 language. How do we translate the forms(boilerplates, button, labels etc.)?
I was going through Oracle Translation builder and think that this would help the cause. Has anyone done this for Oracle apps env. before? Are there any restrictions/limitations/pre-requisites? We would be using Windows environment to develop the form, and then compile it on Unix boxes. Would that be an issue?
Any pointers/guidance/docs would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ashish

There are so many restrictions and special circumstances for customizing forms for Applications that you should ask this question in the Apps Forum (http://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=3). People here might or might not have any experience with this. In the Apps Forums they definitely do.

  • Translation Builder:HOW TO EDIT A TRANLATION STRING?

I am trying to translate from AMERICAN to FRENCH with the Oracle Translation Builder.
I successfully did all the steps described in the translation process of the Translation Builder:Create source file,Import strings,Add translation,Translate strings,Export strings. But the translation status for all the translation strings still showed the sign indicating Revision Needed. And nothing were translated.
Could anybody help me on this problem ?

I cant see where you are closing the recordStore. Your problem is one of the side effect of not closing the record store.
    BTW,
It preferred to close it in a "finally" section

  • Imoprt/Export Strings in Translation Builder not working

    Hi All,
I am new to Translation Builder.
There is a form which is referring many other forms, when I am importing strings of main form in translation builder, its not importing all prompts and only 25 out of 500 prompts. May be it is not importing prompts from other referring form.
Among above 25 prompts, I have imported translations from English to German (translation builder). But after exporting the translation and compiling the form in D folder, translated prompts are not visible in German language login.
I am following the below steps:
    1. Created DB connection
    2. Created New project
    3. Right click > import strings
    4. Base language 'AMERICAN', character set 'WE8ISO8859P1', version ='1' form=form from 'US' folder. (this form also refers other forms which are available under resource directory)
    5. Right click on .fmb > add translation > translation language 'German' & Trns. character set 'UTF8'
    6. RHS double click on GERMAN UTF8 > ok (here its not importing only very few prompts)
    7. Provided translations > save
    8. Click on version > export string and exported to d folder.
    9. Logged in with German language.
    Now translations are not coming.
Note: First time i am using translation builder.
Please let me know if I am missing any step or any set is required etc..
    Many thanks..
    Soniya.

Everything was done from scratch with V28.

That's odd. It worked for me when I tested it. Perhaps you should try moving the current xml file to a different folder, downloading a new version, copying and pasting, and rebuilding.

  • Translation Builder Tables Not Found

I want to use translation builder for application development in Urdu Language. But when I start a new translation project...it generates error 'uable to insert project', 'translation tables not found'.
Can any one tell its sollution?

The error means that you have not run the sql script that creates the OTB tables in your database.
To work with OTB you need to create a repository in your translation database. The translation database, which can be local or remote, holds information about the relationships between translation projects, modules and versions.
To create the OTB repository run the script called sqlbld.sql (located in a subdirectory of the Oracle Forms Home) connected as SYSTEM.
