TranslationHub and Japanese

Using the TranslationHub the following problem occurs:
I want to translate a german forms module into a japanese
one. Starting the TranslationHub is no problem. I can see
the base string, however in the column Translation String
I cannot see japanese characters. There appear any
characters without meaning. I have downloaded the
IME (Imput Method Editor) from Microsoft. During input of
any japanese word I can see the japanese characters,
however in the moment of pressing the enter key, these
japanese characters disappear and instead of them a number
of question marks (I mean ??) appear.
I'm using Windows 2000 english version with german
keyboard. Who can help me?

need to check with development on this. If the platform can render Japanese characters, the TranslationHub should too. I'll reply again once I have a better idea on this.

    Could you please open a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com?  When adding the bug, please include sample code or an application so we can quickly test this out internally.  If you'd like to keep this private, feel free to email the attachment to me directly ([email protected]). 
    Once added, please post back with the URL so that others affected can add their comments and votes. I can also follow up once I get the bug number.

  • Download CS6 - English download missing but French, German, Italian and Japanese are there.

    Logged in with my Adobe ID and went to Download CS6 products but there are only links for French, German, Italian and Japanese versions of PP CS6.  It is a simpler case for most of the other products on this page.  What is going on?

    you are reading that wrong!!!
    - the left column lists the available languages when using the two mac or four pc installation files!!!
    - the center column is the two installation files for mac!!!!
    - the right column is the four installation files for pc!!!!!
    all languages on the left are available when installing with
    the two mac files, and/or the four pc files!!!
    the fact that 'mac-file 1' aligns with the word 'German' means nothing!!!!

    What are the differences between regular JDeveloper 2.0 and
    Japanese localized versions ?
    I received regular JDeveloper 2.0 (Build 343) from the U.S.
    Is there any issue or limitation to use it in order to use
    Oracld RDBMS 8.0.5 & 8.1.5 created with character set JA16EUC
    running on Solaris ?
    I think there is no issue or limitation if we use it with
    NLS-zip.
    Or do we have to use Japanese localized versions ?
    Then what's the benefit of using it ?
    Any information about this would be much appreciated.

    The US JDeveloper version if used with Japanese fonts , or
    better with a Japanese NT will allow for display and input of
    Japanese text including when interacting with Oracle databases.
    This is the internationalization support and JDeveloper is
    internationalized for Japanese
    The only difference between the versions (other than a couple OS
    dependent bugs in the readme file) is that the Japanese version
    has a UI and documentation in Japanese as opposed to English.

    I get broken Korean and Japanese fonts on music files.
    It shows up broken as a file and on itunes when I play it.
    How can I have this fixed?
    I have 3 other laptops that are not Mac and on those laptops it shows up just fine.
    Tried adding a language pack or something still doesn't work.

  • Converting Flash to Chinese and Japanese

    I'm being asked by a client if their Flash-based elements
    containing English text can be converted to Chinese and Japanese
    for alternate versions of their site. Is this possible? If so, how
    do I go about doing it? Is it a simple copy and paste, or do I have
    to configure Flash or my system in some way?
    P.S. - I'm using a MacbookPro with Intel Core 2 Duo processor
    and Flash CS3.

    You probably just downloaded the Flash browser plugin -it does not show up in your Applications folder.
    [MPEG Streamclip|http://www.squared5.com] can open and convert Flash to .mov.
    If you export a H264 of your finished project from FCP, changing the file extension to .fla apparently works, although I have never tried it.
    The perfect solution is to buy a copy of Flash from Adobe. But their are plenty of other solutions such as [this one|http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/36217] that are easier on your finances.

    Hi everyone,
    I am not learning Chinese now, so I really don't need the pinyin keyboard (Traditional), but I keep it around because I can easily get a list of emoji/emoticons just by typing '^6'.
    I use emoji often when I type in Japanese, but it is such a hassle having to switch to the Chinese keyboard...especially since I already have a few language keyboards that I *actually* need to use regularly. I took my Spanish keyboard off the list because I can do okay with an American keyboard, and would like to also remove the Chinese Pinyin keyboard, but I frequently use the ^_^ (^6) feature.
    On the iphone Japanese keyboard, emoticons are built in by clicking a '^_^' button, but I cannot find them for my life on my mac!
    Please help! I do not want to use the standard iphone emoji such as   ,  , and   . I would prefer to use the 'asian' emoji such as (^_^) and
    ☆〜（ゝ。∂）instead.

    That is default behavior for OS X 10.7 and up, but it should only happen when you hold a key down for a while.  If it happens with a quick tap, the key may be damaged.

  • Chines and Japanese lanugate support in flex.

    I am using the ‘arial unicode ms’ in my application.
    I require providing the support of Chines and Japanese language support in my application. The text is coming form the backend. At flex end for showing these
    Language text I require to embed the ‘Arial Unicode Ms’ fonts, which is very big in the size and hence the swf of my application becomes very heavy. I want to reduce the size of this font in my application as I require only selected languages from this font. Can any body suggest me how to achieve this?

  • Encoding issue with Chinese and Japanese characters but not for Korean

    I am dealing with the problem below and have tried a lot of options to correct this. Could anyone help me resolve the issue?
    Some japanese text is returned to my jsp from SAP, the text looks like ‚P‚T“ú’÷“–ŒŽ––Œ»‹à .
    When I manually set the encoding of my browser to Shift-JIS, the problem is resolved and the text is seen as &#65297;&#65301;&#26085;&#32224;&#24403;&#26376;&#26411;&#29694;&#37329;
    However, I set my response.setContentType as Shift-JIS, the browser automatically selects the encoding as Shift-JIS, but my characters get displayed as ??????
    I had a similar problem with Korean characters, and I used,
    decodedString = new String(strToBeDecoded.getBytes("iso-8859-1"),"EUC-KR");
    It worked and I did not have to use the setContentType method of servlet response. This code however does not work for either Japanese or Chinese characters.
    Please let me know, if there is anyway of getting the characters right on the screen.
    I am using Sun Java Application Server 8.1.

    Get rid of legacy character encodings and just use UTF-8 all the way.

  • WebDAV Navigation and Japanese

    Hi All,
    I have an English Windows XP with the following settings
    within Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options:
    1. Regional Options tab's Standards and Formats is set to
    Japanese.
    2. Languages tab has had "Install files for East Asian
    languages" set.
    3. Advanced tab's Language for non-Unicode programs set to
    Japanese.
    Connect to my site in Dreamweaver's WebDAV connection mode (
    I am running with Dreamweaver 8).
    I can navigate and see a WebDAV folder that is named with
    Japanese characters i.e. using the following as an illustration of
    the hieracrhy:
    /my webdav site/
    - top folder
    + テストフォルダ
    The Japanese characters render just fine at this point.
    However, when I click the Japanese folder to navigate within it, I
    get an error thrown. When I take a look at the incoming URI that is
    being sent in from Dreamweaver, the part of the URI that is
    supposed to contain the Japanese characters appears to be total
    garbage and does not look like the properly encoded value that I
    would have expected.
    Does anyone have any insight as to why this might be
    happening and whether this can be corrected with a tweak to either
    Dreamweaver and/or the XP client? Or is this some problem within
    Dreamweaver itself that I cannot overcome?
    For the Japanese chars above, an example of "good" encoding
    appears as something like
    %e3%83%86%e3%82%b9%e3%83%88%e3%83%95%e3%82%a9%e3%83%ab%e3%83%80
    whereas this characters as they are being sent in by
    Dreamweaver appear in my WebLogic log as a very ugly looking

    Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory > Open Containing folder
    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

    There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
    If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

  • US7ASCII database and Japanese data

    Hi,
    I am trying to use 9.0i OCCI to build a simple client app which reads Japanese messages out of our database. The database has US7ASCII char set ( I ran SELECT * FROM NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS to determine it. )
    I have set NLS_LANG to JAPANESE_JAPAN.JA16SJIS in the registry, on my client machine but data comes out as garbage. It comes out alright via Remedy client application. What do I need to do in order to read it with OCCI?

    I managed to fix my app by setting the char set to US7ASCII on my client, but you confirmed my suspicion. It appears that Oracle indeed uses 8 bits for data even if you specify 7bit char set, but as you pointed out the disaster may come when you least expect it. I read Oracle documentation, it seams that the most optimum solution would be to upgrade the char set to UTF8 by running
    ALTER DATABASE CHARACTER SET UTF8
    in which case the data will be stored in Unicode, and there will be virtually no storage space increase or performance penalty.
    I guess my further question is - what will be the best way to build my C++ client in that case? Logically it seams that I should use wchar_t for simplicity ( I am not sure about performance). My understanding is that data coming from Oracle will be in Unicode, provided that I set my clientfs NLS_LANG to UTF8. But I guess there is a difference between UTF8 and 16 bit encoding, which is used by Windows. Will OCCI handle that if I simply build my client with _UNICODE setting, or do I have to do some transformations?
    Another issue is that we currently have a lot of C++ char based code, which manipulates that data, then stores it in different files. There are a lot of char strings embedded in the code. To convert it all to wchar_t might be a quite sizable effort, so I might need to resort to multi-byte strings instead of Unicode. If I set my clientfs NLS_LANG to JA16SJIS will I be getting the correct data out of Oracle?

    Chartered Accountancy with SAP FI-CO itself is a lethal combination.  Looks like you love Japan or there is someone there whom you love.  There are quite some companies in Japan that have implemented SAP (you can get into support, upgrade, enhance kinda roles) and there are also new implementations in the pipeline.  As far as training goes, go to any SAP Education Partners (Siemens, etc.).  Give your full time to demos and practice sessions on SAP when in training - reading books only will not help.
