Transport of Queries: Query Designer vs. Transport Connection in RSA1

Hello,
actually we are having a very strange behavior towards query transports.
Whenever we collect queries using Query Designer ("save"), all query elements are written on a transport request.
Collecting queries using rsa1 transport connection collects additional repair elements. For some reason these repair elements cause problems: although query elements + repair elements are transported in transport protocol, the query itself does not exist on the quality system.
Any idea why?
Thank You!
Goliad001

Hi,
If you are getting error in transport log due to repair elements, then you can move your transport in Overwrite mode. And when you are moving your query through transport organizer make sure that you have marked your query as well for transport along with dependent objects.
Once you collect all the objects and write them to TR just have a refresh to make sure that all the objects are written to TR. You can check that just beside the object name in Transport organizer.

Durgesh.

• Query Designer configuration

Hi,
I'm trying to debug a configuration problem with query designer when it connects to my BI 7.0 server. Here is the problem:
start - all programs - business explorer - query designer
I then connect to my SAP BI 7.0 system using my personal id that has sap_all sap_new authorities
From the Query designer I select query - open
then I select -
info areas - human resources - personal administration - headcount and personal actions - headcount/change in staffing level
Then Execute ...
My web page opens up with...
http:///irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?QUERY=0PA_C01_Q001&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X&DUMMY=1
For some reason the hostname and port are missing. Does anyone know where this is configured?
Thanks,
Lee

Bhanhu,
Thanks for the quick response. I am the basis administrator for this server. This system was built by a redirected restore, so I'm trying to figure out where these settings are adjusted. Do you know the profile parameters that would be used in RZ10 or the settings in RSPARAM. I looked in RSPARAM but I did not see where this could be set. Any leads would be helpfull.
Thanks,

• Creating transport in Query designer

Hi Guys,
I am trying to create a transport in query designer before i make any changes to the query, how do i go about doing this please?
Thanks

Hi,
You can also goto SE01/SE09/SE10 tcodes and create a workbench transport from there. Modify you r query and attach it to the transport you created. But the best practice is to create it through the transport connection.
Also check the threads below on creating Query transports :
Correctly transport BEx queries

• Transport dialog box in Query designer

Hi Friends,
I have an issue from my BI team -
When the team go to query designer and change any query and then save, the system doesn't pop up for a transport request automatically even the client settings are fine saying automatic recording of changes.
Is there any manual configuration to be done to enable this option? Please advice.
Regards,
Murthy VR

Hi Murthi,
Yes there is manual setting which needs to be done.
Go to RSA1-> Transport Connection -> right upper pane you will see 'BEx'. Click on BEx. It will ask you for the request. Create one new request in SE01 and then assignit in BEx. This point onwards all of your query changes will be saved under this request automatically.
Hope this helps.let me know if you have any doubt.

• Query Element in Transport Connection

Gurus,
When i transported my report to production it failed because some elements are
missing;
Question1 - How do i identify the objects based on the GUID (that long alpha
numeric number).
Question2 - I don't know how i missed couple of elements because i have
collected the query element in transport connection, thought it
would bring any object associated with the query.
Thanks a lot..

Hi Geni,
I would take the objects which are in red in the failed request.
copy that object from the list which is the ELTUID.
Then goto se16 > RSZELTDIR table
Enter that ELTUID which is the first field and execute
This will give u the name of the element which is missing from the transport request.
Then collect that element and transport again.
Hope this Helps.
Thanks

• Find Query Name in Transport Request or In TR what are Queries.

Dear All,
I would like to find a Query Name in Transport Request(DEVK.....) or Vice-Versa in Transport Request (DEVK........), what are the queries are included. I created SAP Query using SQ01 and assigned the InfoSet. The query is succesfully executing and getting the required result but I dont know the Transport Request Number which was created. In stead of creating New request, I would like to know the existing Transport Request what are the Queries are assigned.
Regards,
Ujed.

Hi
If you have included the Query in Transport using SAP Query Transport tool, it creates Transport request and makes an entry in the table AQTDB. Check the table entries in the table AQTDB.

• Transport of BI Query/ web items

Hi Gurus,
I would like to know that when we create a Query, or Report how to transfer it from Development system to Quatity and then Production.
Could you provide me any document with steps.
Thanks,
Venkatesh

Hi,
If you want to transport BEX queries then, after creation of the query (Saving with a Tech name) in the query designer automatically a pop-up will be displayed for transport connection.
Else we can do by another process:
Go to RSA1-> Transport connection -> Object types->Query elements->Query->Select objects->Find the query with Tech name->tranfer to Rt. side panel->select transport/Package. Collect the query in request. If you want to transport the web templates based on that query select grouping as In data flow afterwards.
Hope this helps...

• How to collect the deleted query in a transport request.

Hi Friends,
I have created a query and transported it to the Quality, the data content is all ok, except that i have not used the Project Naming conventions. Now i have a defect against my name for this. I have to copy the same query with the correct Naming convention and transport it.
My question is after copying the query with correct name i have to delete the old query (if not there would be 2 versions of the same query). How do i collect the deleted image of the query in a transport and send it to quality?.
I tried deleting a test query from Bex Designer, but this does not ask me for a transport. should i use RSZDELETE?. Not sure if it asks for a transport request when i delete the query.
Can someone pls tell me how to go about this?.
Thanks in advance.
BN

Hi BN,
I do agree that deleting directly in Quality and Prod is not good way and not recommeded.
I have not tried and deleted. But if the system is configured in such a way that if it doesnt ask for a request
then i feel you have no option.
If any object is deleted then you must have the deletion image collected into request at the same point when you are deleting.Because later when we go to transport connection we wont find the object itself.
What i think from your point as you said you have done earlier is you must have any open request regrding this query and when this query is deleted , the deletion image is also included in the same request.
So go to se03 and give your deleted query name and check all the requests.
Check in the requests when the deletion image is captured or not. we might be knowing that this is cpatured.

• Transaction for overview of Queries published in Roles via Query designer

Hi Guru's,
in Query designer I have the possibility to publish Queries in roles.
I have the problem that some Queries have been published twice or more in different folders, so I want to clean it. But I don't know how to delete the Queries via BEx Analyzer as they are there again as soon as I log in again.
Isn't there any transaction in Backend that I can use to structure my Queries in roles?
Thanks in advance!

One way to delete unneeded duplicates....
Go to Query designer, in development
Instead of loading the query you want to delete, find it in the folder/role
Click on the "Trash Can" icon
Then we have 2 more options to consider....
- Delete object ...will TOTALLY delete it in the development system.... caution with this one, unless you really do want it to permanently go-away.
- Delete only the object reference from the Role/Favorites... will delete the one instance in the folder, but leaves it everywhere else, useful when deleting a duplicate report in the folder
After choosing one of the 2 options above, then click on the 'continue' button.
"Refresh" to check what was done in development = Menu / Refresh
When done... transport the role to Q and Production.
Similar process if the query is located inside of web template and there are multiple instances of the same web template in the roles/folders that need to be cleaned up in the web application designer.

• SAP Query Use and Transport Strategy

Anyone wish to share their experience in the use of SAP Query? We generally have an understanding that we don't want to be giving out this tool to end-users in Production. We would like to create queries, and when we wish to give them out we'll attach t-codes to them and roll them out.
However in practice, this is becoming difficult. An example is where in our gold client we create queries and then we would typically transport to our unit test client. But whenever we do an export, it generates a transport request. Before we are done testing we may end up with 10's of transports for a single query?
Anyone have some ideas on a transport strategy for SAP Query? How about it's use in Production? Our landscape for changes are typically DEV Gold -> DEV Test -> QAS -> PRD. We would ideally like our transport strategy for queries to match what we do for everything else.

HI,
Query objects are transported in different ways according to the query area in which they were created.
In order to know which transport options are available, you must first understand how query objects are created.
Standard Area
Query objects are stored in the client-specific table AQLDB. They are not connected to the Change and Transport Organizer.
Global Area
Query objects are stored in the cross-client table AQGDB. They are connected to the Change and Transport Organizer.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/d2/cb467f455611d189710000e8322d00/content.htm
Global area objects can be transported into other systems. Standard area query objects can not only be transported to other clients within their own system, but into all clients of other systems as well. In addition, query objects can be transported from the global query area to the standard query area and back within the same system.Transports are normally performed by the system administrator, not by end-users. For this reason, you need the appropriate authorizations

• Changes not reflecting in Report designer after Transports

Hi,
I have made some changes to a Report in the report designer and transported it to Quality and Acceptance systems. But the changes are reflecting in Quality system not in Acceptance server. In Acceptance sever the changes are seen in the report physically but when i execute the report i still see the old format. I tried transporting the request again to the system but no luck.
Cleared the Cache in Acceptance still no luck. Also regenerated the base query in RSRT and no effect on the report. Any idea?
Thanks,
Praveen

Hi Praveen,
Make sure you have collected all the objects of the report.
You may check this in (development) RSA1->Transport Connection. Select that report and see if any objects are still not under $TMP or under any other Package and not got collected in your previous TR.

• How to find query names in transport?

Hi Experts,
We have collected around five queries for transport. But in SE10, we do not see the query names. How to find out the query names there?
With Kind Regards,
Kannan

Open query in query designer.
From 'Properties' window (right side Window) dropdown select query.
From 'Advanced' tab copy the UID. U can search that in SE09.
OR
Copy that query ID from SE10, use table RSZELTDIR with that ID.

• Unable to schedule CR based on BW query after newer transports

Hi
We have update the integration kit for SAP tranports on BW server as below,
Content Administration transport (K900645.r21 and R900645.r21)
Personalization transport (K900646.r21 and R900646.r21)
MDX Query Connectivity transport (K900643.r21 and R900643.r21)
ODS Connectivity transport (K900582.r21 and R900582.r21)
At the same time we have updated the drivers on client side (CR designer and Enterprise) with the following,
Integration Kit SP 2.0 and FP 2.7
After this opened the crystal report that is based off BW query in CR designer, verified the database, save back to BW and republished to enterprise from BW.
Report work good in CR designer.
In enterprise, when the report is scheduled, it stays in running state forever and never finishes.
Viewing on demand also does not return and stays in processing stage.
Please help.
IMS

Uninstalling FP2.7 got our scheduling going. Now we can schedule out report again successfully...
So, it actualy FP2.7 for solution kit that was preventing, not newer transports....
