hiya i am new to BW and want to know how to transport the project from DEV to QA and QA to production envirnoment, it is very urgent......

    you have three option:
    1) Use the Import Wizard to transfer your reports, universes and universe connections but in this case you have to modify the universe connections after each transport.
    2) Use the Import Wizard  to transfer initially your reports, universes and universe connections. After the initial trasmfer modify the universe connections in the QA and PRD environments according to your needs. From this point on choose to transfer only the reports and the universes but avoid transfering the related connections. This way the modified connections are not overwritten and you do not have to modify them in the future.
    3) Use the LifeCycle manager (You have to upgrade to XI 3.1 for this).

  • Portal Transports Dev to QA

    I have created my portal transport and exported from Dev Portal and Imported to QA Portal.
    When I run my imported version of ESS in the QA Portal, I am gettting Windows Security Pop Up asking for a Username and Password saying that the Dev Portal requries Authentication.
    Do I need to change a setting somewhere in the Portal or redo my Import and Export?

    i am not sure what you mean by "any system mapping"
    When you have a backend system created in DEV and you transport it to QA or PROD,
    the Alias names are not created and need to be added manually after the transport.
    The system properties like URL or ports are always different , so that needs to be changed to.
    Don't forget to setup the SSO (exchange of the portal certificate into the backend system)

  • How to get DEV Integration Server into Prod SLD?

    in a two-tier landscape I need to define transport targets in SLD. Both PI syetems have their own SLD. In each SLD there is just the Integration server of the corresponding PI system. How to get the DEV Integration Server into PROD sld? Manually?

    that is what I wanted to know. So there seem to be two possibilities:
    - Creating the DEV Integration Server in productive SLD manually
    - Exporting the DEV Integration Server from DEV SLD and import it into productive SLD.
    I tried importing / exporting SLD content some time ago. AFAIK there is no exporting single technical / business systems, you can just export all the content together from a SLD?

  • Case insensitive search working in dev but not in prod

    Hello All,
    I had set the CASE_SENSITIVE_CHARACTER_COMPARISON parameter as OFF in NQSConfig.ini file for enabling the case insensitive search in OBIEE.
    This setup is letting me do the case insensitive search in Dev env but the same doesnt work in prod env. I tried pointing both prod and dev rpd to same prod db.
    With same db also, case insensitive search doesnt work in prod env.
    Any idea for which other configuration I can look for.

    Thanks Stijin. I had seen this post earlier. Case insensitive search works fine after setting the value for NLS_SORT and NLS_COMP in production RPD but the other report with distinct clause starts failing. Not sure about the reason.
    Saw this comment from you in that post:
    The only compromise solution we could find was to "cache" the column value we wanted to use in insensitive searches. These were mainly used in "show all choices" while setting prompts. Other than that there isn't much you can do in an Oracle database.
    Can you please tell me how to implement the above.

  • Transporting roles from dev to qa and prod servers ep6sp11

    We have EP6 SP11 -erp2004
    I will be transporting roles from the dev environment to a QA(quality assurance) and a production portal server.
    Only the roles needs to be transported, <b>no</b> user assignments to be transported.
    I have read some docs on this and would just like to confirm this is the procedure:
    Basically:
    1.Export the roles to a common directory
    2.Importing it in qa and prod
    3. From here onwards i need help on..Do i add the roles through delta links??? What other steps needs to be done?

  • Sql query to identify transports in dev but not in prod

    I use sqlplus to select fields from saperp.e070v so I can compare transports in prod with those in qa. The purpose is to identify those transports that I need to run when I H-copy prod to QA. I'm using this where clause (TRFUNCTION='K' OR TRFUNCTION='W') . Should I look at TRSTATUS? I'd appreciate any recommendations or ideas. I do not have access to ABAP.

  • SAP Fiori - Transports Dev to QA/Prod issues (Activate and Maintain Service)

    Hi All,
        We have configured and activated Fiori - PO and PR scenarios in development environment using Central Hub Architecture (Gateway-Backend system). It is working great. However, we are facing an issue while transporting the configuration between the environments. We configured the entries (System Alias, Activate and Maintain Service and Scenario) for QA/Prod Environment in Development environment and transporting those (as it lets us to create TR's and as any SAP Configuration or technical Object). The transports are imported successfully, however the service is not activated or seen in "Activate and Maintain Services" in QA/Production Environment. But, scenario definition for PO and PR are imported successfully and visible
    Steps and Transports:
    1. System alias configured for QA/Production (Central hub) entries in Development box and transported - Successfully imported and entries are seen
    2. Activate and Maintain Service entries are configured (workbench request- Loads Oauth and Metadata along with the System Alias assigned) - Transport import successfully, However not seen in "Activate and Maintain Services" (tried even creating a customization TR's)
    3. Scenario Definition (PO and PR) - These are successfully imported as well as we are able to see the entries in SPRO
    Solution Options:
    1. Configure the entries and import (No success yet)
    2. Manually re-configure or Activate and Maintain Service in each system [QA/Prod] (Again, SAP let us transport for this step - So, my understanding option 1 should work).
    Any recommendation or suggestions ? Or is the Option 2 the only way to go!

  • Single-Tier in Dev / Multi-Tier in Prod - BPC5.1 - are there any issues?

    Background: We are a new install of SAP BPC 5.1 and initially planned to have both Dev and Prod as a single tier install.  In the Blueprint design review, the recommendation was made and accepted to have production as a Multi-Tier landscape.  Due to tight timelines, the customer will go-live on the Production Multi-tier landscape and Dev in a Single Tier configuration. As soon as possible, we will move Dev to a Multi-Tier install as well to synchronise Dev to Prod.
    Question: Other than being uncommon, is there any know issues with having this current dissimilar landscape?

    There's nothing uncommon about having a development environment that isn't an exact macth to production.  Many clients that have large mutli-server configurations don't invest that much money and resources in thier development environment.  The downside is that when you do things such as stress testing, user acceptance testing and other configurations in development, you really have to do them again in production if you want a fully tested environement.
    Also, if you have different software components (e.g. 64bit OS in production and 32bit in development) you are dealing with different service packs and other components that can have different issues.  I've also run into differences in authentication issues between a simple and more complex environment depending on how the components are arranged.
    These should all be issues the technical consultant that is doing the server configurations can discuss with you.  The bottom line is you'll want to make sure you have the production environment setup with enough time to do a through testing before go-live.  As far as moving the application from development to production, going from a single server to mutli-server shouldn't be an issues as long as you're using server mananger to do the backup and restore.

  • Report Painter:create a transaction, transport DEV to PRD

    Dear all,
    I have created my first report in GRR1 (Report Painter / Writer), modifying a standard report that uses the library 8A2 (EP PCA).
    In all, i created the following objects:
    1) report ZRPRT (created with T. GRR1 (Report Painter / Writer))
    2) report group Z8XY(created with T. GR51), that contains only this report
    3) Account group Z_CO_XY (created with T. KDH1),with the GLPCT table, field RACCT. Z_CO_XY is  input parameter as group account, via selection screen, of the report ZRPRT. 
    Now i would like:
    1. Create a transaction to run this report from the mainmenu.
    2  Transport everything,  from DEV to PRD.
    I would like to have everything in a PRD, also for maintenance reasons.
    If in the future, i need to modify this report, I would be able to bring everything from PRD to DEV to make those changes (if, in the meantime, the objects were deleted from DEV, for whatever reason)
    Please, can you give me an explanation step-by-step what I should do. Any advice is welcome!

    Add custom reports to an existing Report Tree (SERP)
    For example:
    Add custom report to:  Project System/Information System/Financials/u2026
    Find u201CPS91u201D from SERP
    Add a report to PS91
    The trick is find the existing report tree related to standard main menu.
    Or create a new report tree where you house all custom or selected reports in one place.
    May also consider using area menu (SE43): create a structure, for example, to house all custom reports.  A useful tool to manage custom/specifc reports

  • Transporting Objects to QA to Prod

    hi,
    Its a IDOC to XI to HTTP Receiver.
    There are 10 different HTTP Receivers configured using SM59 with external type 'G'with the corresponding certificates installed using STRUST.
    Now i think these cannot be transported and i have to install the new certificates for the Production URL's and RFC Destinations of type 'G' again in the Prod.
    Is the above assumption right? If not is there any other method to do this?

    Hi Tirumal,
    thats right. Destinations cant be transported, it would be senseless, because you dont want a a destination between a test and a productive system. You have to configure them manually. If you put the URL directly into the communication channel it is the same result. Transporting that channel you loose the URL.

  • Multiuser Development in Dev and Promotion to Prod

    The following is the Dev to Prod development lifecycle as I see it from reading posts on this site as well as other links that have been included in related posts. I would appreciate feedback from anyone who feels there is a better way or identifies issues with this approach.
    1. Create shared folder
    2. Create projects in master Dev repository and copy rpd to shared folder
    3. Allow users to checkin and checkout projects to shared repository
    4. Schedule overwrites of master Dev repository with shared Dev repository to move developer changes to the dev environment? ->This one is more of a question. Is this the best practice? As I understand it, new projects are created in the master repository, but I don’t want to overwrite the shared repository every time I need to create projects. How have others handled this?
    5. Once Dev is ready to move to production, copy changed objects from master Dev repository and paste in Prod repository? Again this is more of a question. This is what I have read, but seems very prone to user error if minor changes have been made by the developer and are not apparent to the Administrator. I likely wouldn’t want to do a straight copy of the Dev rpd to Pod as security is not the same in both environments.

    basically you want to compare the cube structure, transformations, dtp rite?
    you'll have to compare using tables... you can create a abap program that will login prd system using RFC connection and get the data... otherwise, just take table dumps and compare it.
    check table RSDCUBEIOBJ this will give u list of IO in cube. take list from both system and check if number match
    check table RSTRAN for transformations.. this will give header data... check in transformation if you have any rule group defined.. as rule group can change the no of records to double / triple etc.
    check RSTRANFIELD table for field mapping in transformation
    RSTRANRULE table for rule details..
    use RSBKDTP table for checking DTP

  • 0LOGSYS transfer routine error transporting DEV- QA

    I need to transport several business content infocubes and loading flow(migrated from 3x to in 7.0) from DEV to QA.
    In QA I've imported also infoobject 0LOGSYS and his transfer routine. But it appears iinactive. When I display the transfer routine from characteristic 0LOGSYS, is missing this part of code::
      IF RESULT IS INITIAL     and
         IOBJ_NAME = '0LOGSYS'.
    fill source system
        RESULT = SOURCE_SYSTEM.
    What can I do ?  In DEV, the code is ok. Can I modify it manually ? Other what must I do in DEV to repair it?

    In STMS I have:

    Syntax error Incorrect statement :Expression missing . in row 20 position 0
    Characteristic 0LOGSYS: Error when activating or checking the transfer routine
    This infoobject, 0LOGSYS is also attribute for others infoobjects and I have also errors like:
    Attribute 0LOGSYS from characteristic 0BUS_AREA is not actively available.
    I've imported also a data source 3x migrated to 7.0 with the transformation and an infocube, and I have error:
    Start of the after-import method RS_RSDS AFTERIIMPORT for object type RSDS
    Soource system DEV does not exist
    Start of the after-import method RS_TRFN_AFTER_IMPORT  fot object type TRFN
    No rule exists.
    Source RSDS mysource DEV does not exist
    AND SUMMARy:
    Object  IOBJ 0logsys imported with errors

    One of my sql query performed well in dev server, but now for 1 week it is hanging in prod server so,
    * How can i proceed to troubleshoot the problem.
    * What are areas i need to look for , and for what ?

    Are they both the same version of databases?
    How recent is your dev data (if possible update your dev from prod)?
    If prod to dev copy is not possible
    ....AND stats for both db are up-to-date
    ....AND big differnce in db size for dev & prod
    ....=> You can copy prod's stats and import to dev then run your query on dev to localise the issue then you can start tuning the query on dev.

    There could be plenty of reasons to lead this behaviour to occur, sicnce you diden't come up with valid inputs, one really can not offer a pin point advise.
    in that case, I would simply recommened you to post the output of explain
    plan after making sure your stats are up to date.
