Tree Control (button select all)

Hello,
i need a method for mark all checkboxes in the ALV Tree Control, does somebody know so a method? How can I add a push button in the push button  bar?
regards,
Michael

Hello Michael
The thread I have mentioned contains the coding for adding a button (e.g. MARK_ALL / UNMARK_ALL) in the ALV tree toolbar.
In the following thread
<a href="https://forums.sdn.sap.com/post!reply.jspa?threadID=375626">Catch Checkbox in Heirachycal ALV</a>
you will find sample coding which uses event HOTSPOT_CLICK in order to mark/unmark all checkboxes of a (sub-)tree.

    Hi srinivasan,
    If you want to keep "Save" and "Stop" common, Why do you want to keep them on Tab control? Is your tab control taking entire space on Front panel? If so, you can have SAVE and STOP on other vi, and you can call this vi (MODAL).

  • How to get access to Row Data (Child Text) in a Tree Control Pragmatically?

    In LabVIEW 2010, I have entered Row Data into a Tree Control pragmatically using the Add Item method and providing the Child Text array and the Child Tag for the Row. When a Row in the Tree Control is selected, I can get the Row Tag in the Value Property of the Tree. But how do I access the Child Text array data when the Row is selected? I can't seem to find a Tree Control Property or Method that will return that data back again.
    What I am trying to do is: once a Row in a Tree is selected and a button is pushed, if the Row Tag is valid, I want to transfer all of the Row data into another similarly formatted Tree. To do that I need the Row Data for the Tree and Row that was selected. I can not find a way to get access to this Row Data after it has been entered into the Tree.
    Can anyone tell me how to pragmatically access the Child Text or Row Data in a Tree Control from a selected Row in the Tree? I have the Tag for the Row, but how do I access the data?
    Thanks for your assistance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    As mentioned in the posting here, you can use the Active Item:Tag property to set the item to which subsequent property changes apply. This includes pulling the Active Celltring values out in a for loop as you increment the Active Cell:Active Column Number to get the row's Child Text data programmatically as I was originally wanting to do.
    Note that wiring a 0 to the ActiveColNum property and reading the String value will return the tree item's visible name (in column 0), but not the unique item Tag (which is somewhat intangible after its creation). Therefore, I save the unique item tag when I add the item to the tree control (the output of the Add Item invoke node) and store it as a separate column of the Child Text array and place it out of sight in the tree control so I have access to it later. It might be useful, it might not.
    I find the tree control totally non-intuitive and not well explained anywhere, but that's how a lot of LabVIEW coding is I guess. Play with it long enough and you become an expert. I had to learn the hard way, but I hope this helps someone else.

  • Select all in table element

    Hello all,
    I created a table element which contains a column of check boxes.
    I want to add to my table an option to check/uncheck all the check boxes.
    I already created the events but I dont know how to call the events I created using the table?
    Thanks in advance,
    Tomer

    Hi Tomer,
    you haven't said how your gui should look like. For example you can add two buttons ("select all" and "Unselect all") for this task. Now you add two actions, one for each button. Add the actions as eventtarget in the properties of the buttons. And in the event-methods of the actions you write your code to select/deselect the checkboxes, like
    public void onActionSelectAll(...) {
        for (int i = 0; i < wdContext.nodeMyTableDataSource().size(); i++) {
            wdContext.nodeMyTableDataSource().getMyTableDataSourceElementAt(i).setMyCheckboxAttribute(true);
    public void onActionUnselectAll(...) {
        for (int i = 0; i < wdContext.nodeMyTableDataSource().size(); i++) {
            wdContext.nodeMyTableDataSource().getMyTableDataSourceElementAt(i).setMyCheckboxAttribute(false);

  • How to change the symbol not provided by LV in tree control

    AS we know ,Lv7.0 provide the new "tree" control
    ,but the symbol provided is just some black_white
    icon.if I want to chang the icon as I enjoy ,
    how to do?

    You can create your own symbols (icons) for the tree control. First, create an invoke node for your tree control and select "Custom Item Symbols -> Set Symbol Array". You must build an array of images to feed to the method. You can right-click on the item in the invoke node and select Help for it.
    Once your custom symbol array is set, you can designate an icon for each item on the tree with the property "Active Item Properties -> Symbol Index".

  • How to highlight all child items in a tree control?

    I have a tree control and a boolean button. I want to use the button to select all (highlight) the child items in the tree control. I've seen CVI functions where you can set the active items, but such a function/method does not appear in LabVIEW.
    Any clues?

    Hi settles,
    Once you have all the children, you just need to set the value of the tree control to be an array of all the child tags.  Here's a screenshot of a VI that does this:
    First I get all the tags, then I get the parent of each tag.  If the parent is a non-empty string, I add it to an array.  Then I write that array value to a local variable of the tree control.  Let me know if you have any questions on this method.  I believe the "All Tags" property I'm using was added in LabVIEW 8.0.

  • Select all and deselect all in table control

    Hi experts,
        I want to make the select all and deselect all options in my table control.
    But i can't able to do that one. Kindly suggest me how to do that one.
    one more thing, if i select some rows in the table control, and press save it should be saved in some other table. how can i implement that one.
    Waiting for ur reply.
    Regards...
    Arun.

    Hi Arun,
    In the context node that you bind to the table, set the cardinality as 0..n and selection as 0..n. In the UI element Table, set the property selectionMode as 'multi'. Then a toggle button for select/deselect all will appear automatically in your table. You can see it in the top left corner.
    For your second question, after selecting the elemets and pressing 'save', in your event handler, do a get_selected_elements( ) on your node. This will return you a set of context elements. Loop through each element and do a get_static_attributes to get the rows. Then you can append these rows to another internal table and bind it to the context. Bind your second table to this node. If the two tables are in different views, the context nodes need to be present in the component controller and mapped to the views.
    Hope this helps.

  • Save selected node in Tree control

    I'm making this flex form for my school to add a new student
    to the DB. When the admin clicks on a button it will open a Tree
    control that displays the available courses and sections in the
    following heirarchy:
    Year>Semester>Course Name>Sections
    Now I want that when he clicks on the button Select within
    this new window showing the Tree, it will store the current
    selected node and the full path to it, so that back in the original
    form it will display the Year, Semester, Course name and section.
    I've tried using the value and selecteditem methods from the tree
    control but they are not working. Any ideas to figure out the full
    path of the selected item?

    You will need to climb back up the ancestor nodes to build
    that path yourself.
    "parent()" i believe returns the parent of the current node.

  • Select all checkbox in ALV tree

    Hi There,
    I have developed a report using ALV tree with 3 level nodes. I have introduced checkbox in one of the column in the node..
    By this I can select the checkbox individually. I have got the requirement to select all the checkboxes simultaneously using a button. I tried several things but no help..
    Please help me with this..I have used class 'cl_gui_alv_tree' for designing the Tree.

    Hi,
    You need to add a button to the toolbar manually, when the button is pressed loop at all the nodes that have a checkbox and update the checkbox field.
    Something like....
    data:  go_tree1     type ref to cl_gui_alv_tree,
           go_toolbar   type ref to cl_gui_toolbar
    * Add buttons to the toolbar
      call method go_tree1->get_toolbar_object
        importing
          er_toolbar = go_toolbar.
      check go_toolbar is not initial.
      call method go_toolbar->add_button
        exporting
          fcode     = 'SELALL'
          icon      = icon_select_all
          butn_type = cntb_btype_button
          text      = ''
          quickinfo = 'Select All'.
    * Define an event handler
    data: go_receiver  type ref to lcl_event_receiver.
    class lcl_event_receiver definition.
      public section.
        methods:
          function_selected for event function_selected of cl_gui_toolbar
                  importing fcode.
    endclass.
    class lcl_event_receiver implementation.
      method function_selected.
        case fcode.
          when 'SELALL'.
            perform select_all.
      endmethod.
    * Register the event
      create object go_receiver.
      set handler go_receiver->function_selected for go_toolbar.
    form select_all.
      data: lv_field type lvc_fname.
    * Update the checkbox on each node of the ALV tree
      lv_field = 'CHECK'.   "Whatever you've called the checkbox
      call method go_tree1->change_item
        exporting
          i_node_key     = node_key   "<-- loop at the nodes and repeat for each one with a checkbox
          i_fieldname    = lv_field
          i_data         = ' '
        exceptions
          node_not_found = 1
          others         = 2.
      call method go_tree1->frontend_update.   "call this onces all updates have been made
    endform.

  • Tree Control Highlighting Programmatically Selected Item

    Does anyone know whether it is possible to highlight a programmatically selected item in the LV Tree Control, eg I have used the "Get Child" method to select an item - how do I then highlight this item on the tree?

    Yes, you can write the value to a local variable for the tree control. This will have the effect of selecting the item--which will highlight just ike the user clicked on it.
    By the way, "Get Child" doesn't select an item in any sort of useful sense--it just tells you what the child is. Actually, it tells you what the first child under the indicated Parent is.

  • How to get all items under a parent item in a tree control

    Hello,
    I have 2 questions regarding a tree control:
    1) Is there any way to specify a parent item tag and get an array of ALL its sub item tags? For example, in the attached vi, specify the Parent#2 parent tag and get an array containing Item#P21 and Item#P22
    2) Is there a way to specify a range to the ActiveCell property. For example, all items from line#1 to line number#3
    Any ideas?

     Did you try a search? There's no direct way of doing this. You have to navigate the tree and build up an array. You can find an example here: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/get-all-children-of-a-parent-in-tree/td-p/729548
    2) Is there a way to specify a range to the ActiveCell property. For example, all items from line#1 to line number#3
    No. (It's called ActiveCell, not ActiveCells) Presumably you are trying to perform an operation on multiple items. Unfortunately, you need to use a loop. You should defer panel updates if you're doing this a lot.
