Hi all,

  • Really strange installation problem (stuck during phase 1)

I just bought a new macbook pro 15" (mid-2009) and I decided to put a larger hard drive in there, so I bought a Seagate 500GB SATA 2.5" drive. I replaced the drive, popped in my Snow Leopard DVD and booted from the disc. I erased and partitioned the hard drive as OS X Extended Journaled. I continued with the installation but when it starts to install the OS itself, it gets stuck.
I opened up the log and it it gets stuck at the part where it says it's retrieving package com.apple.MacOSX.packagename (it varies on the package and it's random). The first couple of times, it got stuck at some printer drivers, so I took it out with the custom install button and then it got stuck somewhere else. I left the installer running for 1 to 2 hours each time but it doesn't budge, the timer just freezes and never moves. The progress bar also just stays at the same location. The system responds to the mouse and I can reboot the system.
I tried to disable everything under the custom install and just installed the bare necessities but it still gets stuck, no matter what options I chose. The stock 250GB, with the preloaded snow leopard OS installed, works perfectly fine but this new 500GB just won't install. I also even tried another hard drive it also gets stuck. I tried googling and found out there was an issue with the SATA going 1.5Gbit and I tried to apply the 1.7 EFI update but the updater said it wasn't really needed.
The last thing I did was boot the stock hard drive that came pre installed with Snow Leopard and ran a mac update to get the latest firmware updates for the macbook but it didn't seem to help. It only found an update for the bluetooth but nothing else.
Does anyone know why it won't install? I've tried replacing the disc from the store but still doesn't help. Is there something wrong with this laptop?

Yes, the hard drive partition scheme is GUID. I've exchanged the hard drive already with a new one and still getting the same problem. I tried copying the Snow Leopard DVD onto a 16GB thumb drive, booted from it and went installing it that way. It took forever, so I left it overnight and it had an error eventually.
This is the first time I've had this problem before and I've installed Mac OS X as a fresh install before but never had a problem like this. Here is my log:

  • NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial SP12 - installation problems

    Hi
I have been struggeling a lot with the installation of NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial SP12. I have installed and uninstalled serveral times with no luck - I have used the SAP clean up tool, RegCleaner and deleted SAP entries my self in regedit.
The installation only takes a few minutes now before the installation is complete and it asks me if I would like to start the app server and the SAP management console - when I then choose continue it fails.
Im pretty surprised that the maxdb is not installed - even though that I have uninstalled it before the reinstallation attempts.
I would like to start over from scratz - is it possible somehow (so that the maxdb is installaded again and so on) or is there something else that I should try?
I have tried to do the setup mentioned in the troubleshooting guide (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloaditem?rid=/library/uuid/6055f523-df6e-2910-f0bf-acccbb0a7d37) and searched this forum, but I cannot make it work.
    Kind regards,
    Torben

    Hi Klaus
    Thanks for your reply.
I should not be nessesary with the loopback adapter in my case - my pc is connected to a network and I can access localhost. However, I have tried with and without loopback adapter.
What I did (for each time I tried to install:
    Deleted installshield folder
    Uninstalled maxDB
    Stoped SAPNSP_00 service
    Deleted SAP and SAPDB folder
Ran the SAP reg clean tool
Then I made i reboot, and installed NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial SP12 once again.
In my last case I installed the loopback adapter, rebooted once again and then installed the SP12 trial. When I installated the loopback adapter I assigned ip adresse 10.10.0.10 (and subnet mask 255.255.255.0) to it and added a line (10.10.0.10 NSP) to the hosts file.
But I still get error when installation has finished:

  • Trial ABAP 7.02 - MaxDB installation problem

    Hi Trialers,
I am not able to finish my Trial 7.02 installation, since in the Execute step (consisting of 24 phases) and phase 4 (Install Database Client), I get the message:
An error occurred while processing option SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including Enhancement Package 2 > SAP Application Server ABAP > MaxDB > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step :Assertion failed: MaxDB Software must be installed before this class can be instantiated!). You can now:
    - Choose Retry to repeat the current step.
    - Choose View Log to get more information about the error.
    - Stop the option and continue with it later.
Log files are written to C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/NW702/AS-ABAP/ADA/CENTRAL/.
This is the first phase accessing MaxDB software (first three phases are:
    1) Create users for SAP system
    2) Install common system files
    3) Unpack SAP archives
    4) Install Database Client <--- here the error occurs
... and next phases are (not processed due to error in phase 4)
    5) Create and load database
    6) Install database server
    7) ....
Any idea how to get around this? The software should be installed automatically within the installation process and in proper order, in my opinion. Is there any "legal" option how to force the installation process to behave correctly and install the components in proper order, or do I need to install some components manually myself before the installation starts? And which one of them (I am not MaxDB expert, sorry)?
    Any idea is highly appreciated!\
    Thank you
    Michal

    Hi,
this is a bit late... but here's what I found: I'm doing an installation of 7.02 on a 64-bit Windows 7 system. I also had the issue of step 5 failing; the "MAXDB software must be installed...' message popped up. Strangely, it did not show up on the other PC I successfully installed on this weekend (also a 64-bit Win 7 system).
What I did was to use the installer in the MAXDB 64-bit directory to install the simplest MAXDB configuration (the "tutorial" DB) under the ...\SAP_MaxDB_78_SP1_20_RDBMS\DATA_UNITS\MAXDB_WINDOWS_X86_64 directory. The program is sdbsetup. I believe there's a 32-bit version as well in another directory.
After selecting the tutorial DB option (256 MB), I waited until MAXDB was successfully installed. Then, I restarted the miniSAP installer, which got me safely past phase 5-8. I did not clean the system, just re-started the SAP installer with the "use old option".
Remember to NOT install instance NSP when using the sdbsetup; just install some sample MAXDB instance - this seems to do the trick.
On the main SAP installer, there's an option for de-installing MAXDB as well. Might serve as a cleanup if all else fails. If you need to clean up your system, remember to weed out all MAXDB services AND clean the registry for anything MAXDB or SAP-related (don't rely on the registry cleaning tool - check manually!!). • SAP Netweaver 7.02 ABAP Trial Version (64 bit) - Installation Error

    Hi Experts,
I'm running into a runtime error during phase 9 of the ABAP trial installation (Create Database Instance).  The error message from the logs reads:
An error occurred while processing option <i>SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including Enhancement Package 2 > SAP Application Server ABAP > MaxDB > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step :Error during execution of command identifier 'DB_ADMIN' : <DBMException -24994 ERR_RTE Runtime environment error
20099,'NSP' has stopped unexpectedly, (view 'Application Event Log')>)
    Any suggestions on possible solutions?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply.   I'm running windows 7.   I enabled all the RPC rules for the windows event log from the windows firewall advanced security settings but am still unable to view the event log to determine why the NSP is stopping unexpectedly.
The message in the sapinst_dev log file below shows that the event log wasn't opened due to the RPC server being unavailable.  Any other suggestions on why this may be happening?
<html> <head> </head> <body> <p> An error occurred while processing option <i>SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including Enhancement Package 2 > SAP Application Server ABAP > MaxDB > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step :Error during execution of command identifier 'DB_ADMIN' : <DBMException -24994 ERR_RTE Runtime environment error

You can now: </p> <ul> <li> Choose <i>Retry</i> to repeat the current step. </li> <li> Choose <i>Log Files</i> to get more information about the error. </li> <li> Stop the option and continue with it later. </li> </ul> <p> Log files are written to <code>C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/NW702/AS-ABAP/ADA/CENTRAL/</code>. </p> </body></html>

  • Installation problems in MSCS ORACLE 10.2 ECC 6.00

I am writing to report some unexpected installation problems. I am installing SAP ECC 6.00 in a MSCS cluster environment (Windows 2003 / Oracle 10.2) in our production environment and I am having problems during the installing the central instance phase. The sapinst_dev shows the following error: “CJS-30102  Checking the database for installation type failed”, Also the jsourcecheck.log shows  the following error: “com. sap. engine. frame. core. configuration. Configuration Exception: Error while connecting to DB” and  “java. sql. SQLException: Excepción de E/S: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection     at oracle. jdbc.driver.  DatabaseError. throwSqlException (DatabaseError.java:112)”
The database is currently running without any problem and all the services (SAP and Oracle) as well.
Following the installation guide, I performed the almost all the steps successfully:
    •     Oracle RDBMS, patches and Oracle fail safe software on both nodes (successfully)
    •     Install the central services instance for ABAP (ASCS) on the first MSCS node (successfully)
    •     Install the central services instance (SCS) on the first MSCS node (successfully)
    •     Cluster the first MSCS node (successfully)
    •     Install the database instance on the first MSCS node (successfully)
    •     Cluster the additional MSCS node (successfully)
    •     Install an enqueue replication server(successfully)
    •     Perform additional steps for the Oracle Fail Safe configuration (successfully)
    •     Create the Oracle Fail Safe group (successfully)
    •     Set up as shared database directory in your Oracle Home (successfully)
    •     Add the Oracle database resource to the Fail Safe group (successfully)
    •     install the central instance (Failed)
    •     install at least one dialog instance (not installed yet)
As you can observe, I have performed the create oracle fail safe group activity first and then the install the central instance later. Reading the sap note 967121 today, I just realized that there is a wrong installation sequence; the sap note 967121 (actualized date: 17/OCT/07 ) says that “you must install the central instance before you create the Oracle Fail Safe group”.  Is this sequence compulsory? Or can I continue the installation process?
If this sequence is compulsory do I have to reinstall all the predecessor activities or should I undo just the create oracle fail safe group activity?
Please let me know if the error which is showed in the installation of the central instance phase is because the wrong sequence or it is due to another reason.
    Our cluster configuration is:
    4 network card
    Public network cards:
    Ip:192.168.2.240 (hostname: ccaribe3rp1, Node A)
    Ip: 192.168.2.241 (hostname: ccariber3p2, node B)
    Private network cards:
    Ip: 10.10.10.1 (hostname: ccaribe3rp1.ceramicascaribe.com, node A
    Ip: 10.10.10.2 (hostname: ccaribe3rp2.ceramicascaribe.com, node B
    Clustergroup:
    Cluster group name: SAPPRO
Cluster group Virtual IP: 192.168.2.239, network name: SAPPRO (subnet mask 255.255.255.0)
    SAP cluster group:
Sap clustergroup virtual IP: 192.168.2.238, network name: sapgrp (subnet mask 255.255.255.0)
    Database cluster group:
Database cluster group virtual Ip: 192.168.2.237, network name: dbgrp (subnet mask: 255.255.255.0)
We have performed the mapping of the host names to the IP addresses on the windows host file already.
I would be very grateful if someone kindly can help me to solve this problem.
    Best Regards
    Boris Romero

    Hello Boris,
one of the main problems is that step
"Create the Oracle Fail Safe group (successfully)"
cannot be successful because you need to run configtool and change the secure store as described in installation guide. At this stage the configtool does not exists (documentation error for ECC6.0 guide), so the correct sequence is to install CI and cluster the DB, but not vice versa.
Which stage is the sapinst braking up?
Is this beginning, middle or end of installation?
Did you try to run configtool and modify secure store?
    best regards

  • SQL Developer Installation Problems

    Hi,
We are trying to find a workable alternative to TOAD and have tried to install SQL Developer with not much success.... I think I am just about to give up but hope this last attempt to post for help can create a miracle.
I would appreciate very much if any one knows of a comprehensive document out there that can help trouble shoot the installation problems.
Let me give you the hardware and software versions first and then the problems.
    1) SQL Developer tried: sqldeveloper-1.2.1.3213-no-jre and sqldeveloper-1.2.1.3213
    2) JRE tried: JRE 1.5 and JRE 6 (C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03)
    3) Window: XP Professional version 2002 Service pack 2
    4) Hardware: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz, 1.98 GB of RAM
    Problems:
    1) SQL Developer could not find native JDBC. I don't understand why, despite all the variables set in Oracleclient10g_basic in the registry, SQL Developer did not seem to be able to find a 10g client on a network drive. I have to install 10g client directly onto my pc (C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1) to solve this problem.
    2) SQL Developer abruptly disappeared after database login.
I was able to connect and log into an Oralce 10g database with TNS Connect Identifier approach. There were objects (tables, views, etc) showed up briefly on the left hand side of the SQL Developer and then it just completely disappeared without even an error message or a tearful good-bye.
The only thing I can find is this error log about EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION. After hours searching through OTN for possible mentioning of this error with SQL Developer, I found nothing so far.
Why is it so difficult to install SQL Developer? Are there a set of un-spoken pre-requisites that has to be satisfied before it can be installed properly? If so, what are they? Path system variable? Registry? Anything else?
Here's the complete EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error log:

Is this a java problem? SQL Developer problem? Or something else?
    Thanks in advance,
    a TOAD lover

The problem you are seeing (the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION) is a result of a version mismatch between the JDBC driver being used by SQL Developer and the Oracle client that is found on the path.
This issue only occurs when trying to use the OCI version of the JDBC driver. The simplest fix is to switch to using the basic connection type and thus using the thin (all Java) JDBC driver. As no Oracle client is required in this case, the version mismatch won't be an issue.
However, the connection approach you are using should work, and if you wish to try to sort out the problems there, we should be able to further diagnose the underlying cause of the version mismatch.
To do this, I would need to see what SQL Developer thinks are the potential Oracle client installs, as well as which install it ends up picking. Can you copy/paste the output in the Log Window (Logging Page) that is present after SQL Developer starts (but before you attempt to connect to any database)? There should be a whole series of entries like 'Checking for ORACLE_HOME environment variable' and 'Checking JDBC driver at <some path>'
These log entries are output by SQL Developer as it tries to sort out the various bits of information about Oracle client installs and thus give a peek at the selection logic being used.
Oh, and also - the value of your PATH variable would be useful as well. It may be that there is an Oracle client install on the PATH that supersedes the install SQL Developer is finding via the registry or ORACLE_HOME variable.

Re: Installation Problem WAS 6.40 ABAP SR 1
    Please help,
    Thanks

    Hi Mickey,
Have you updated MS DLL's before proceeding with installation ? (for that you need to run program R3DLLINS.exe usually located in the SAPINST\NT\I386\NTPATCH folder)
    Regards,
    Mike
