Tried updating to iOS 6, now my phone is stuck in recovery mode...help?
I tried updating my phone to the iOS 6 software, and my iTunes won't read my phone at all. It keeps saying that "your iphone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored." I restored it for an hour and it didn't work at all. Now my phone is stuck in recovery mode. I'm away at college and I don't know how to fix it. Help!
No, it is my phone that I've had since 2009. I just hate updating it because every time I do something goes wrong. So I put it off as long as possible. I am getting a new iphone, but I read that to have your backup transfer to the new phone, it must be a backup from the current ios.

i tried updating my iphone 4s to the ios 7 but it said error with the firmware now my phone is stuck in recovery mode and i have no idea how to fix it any suggestions??
Try Restoring it 3 times in a row and see if that works.
If not that error can indicate one of two things: Your iPhone was at one time jailbroken, had the iOS version rolled back, or ran an unauthorized beta and if none of those things are true it is a hardware error. -
Tried to update iPhone 4 to iOS 6 and my phone got stuck in recovery mode. My only option now is to restore my iPhone and lose media. However, I then tried to restore my iPhone and error 1603 occurred. My iPhone is now not working!?!?!
if your computer is not recognizing it, try using a different USB port or different usb cable. if that doesnt work you will need to uninstall and reinstall itunes.

HT4623 I ran the IOS 7 update and now my phone is stuck in recovery mode. Help?
I ran the IOS 7 update on my phone and now it is stuck in recovery mode. On my phone it shows a cord and the I Tunes logo. When I connect to I Tunes it tells me "itunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." Then it only gives me the option to Restore iPhone. But when I click on this it gives me the message that it is going to reset my phone to factory settings. Doesn't this mean I will loose everything? What do I do? Is there a way to fix this without losing everything?
Help?
Thank you,

I have a 3gs, and I haven't updated it for a long time because I always have issues when I do. I tried to update the ios today, and it decided to update it to 6.1.3 instead of 7, I didn't think there would be a problem, so I clicked ok. When I came to check on my phone, itunes said there was an error with the update, and my phone was in recovery mode (plug-in sign on the screen). I looked up multiple things to try, I tried putting it in DFU mode, still itunes doesn't see it. The computer also doesn't list it under devices, however when it is plugged in the Apple Mobile Support USB Driver shows up in device manager. I have tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling, still nothing. I just want to know if there is anything else I can try. Thanks.

My phone is stuck on recovery mode help!!!!
so i was updating to ios 7.1.2 on my computer then it was updating then out of no where it got stuck updating it wouldn't do anything the bar was stuck so Ithought why not restarted then it says connect to itunes with lightning cable so I did then nothing itunes don't react ot tell me to restore i did there steps in apples website when stuck but my computer just doesn't react and I know it ain't my computer or cable is because It was just working 30 minutes ago and it recongnized it until this incident plus if i leave it plug for a while it shows an error (0xE8000065) help please!?!?!?
If you followed the instructions exactly as in HT1808 without success, the only thing left to try is the DFU mode:
Power down the iPhone and disconnect from the computer. Start iTunes on the computer and connect the USB end of the cable.
Hold the power button on the iPhone and connect the other end of the cable, keep holding the power button for three seconds and then press and old the home button also. Hold both buttons for ten seconds and then release the power button and continue to hold the power button for an additional twenty seconds. Then release.
You could not be in DFU mode and iTunes should see the iPhone. -
I attempted to update to iOS 8 and now my phone is stuck in recovery mode, and iTunes will only let me restore to factory settings. My question: Can I restore from iTunes backup after restoring to factory settings?
Hi, kformagg
I would say yes. I once had the same problem (iPhone 5, IOS 7) and first restored to factory settings and after that from iCloud backup.
It worked very well. -
I've been lazy about updating my phone. I plugged it into my computer tonight, the prompt came up and I absentmindedly clicked OK, you get the picture. It claims the update failed and now my phone is stuck in recovery mode. I can't believe I didn't back up my phone before I did this - I just wasn't thinking. Have I lost all my videos and pictures?
They should have been part of the backup. If you have already restored from the backup and they are not present on the phone, then they are gone. If you have not yet attempted to restore, just restore already... you don't have any other choice. Debating whether something will be there or not is pointless. It will, or it won't. discussing it won't change that.

I tried updating to iso 8.0.2 and now my iPad is stuck in recovery mode and will not do anything. it will not reset.
RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary. -

If you didn't back it up, your data is gone. There is no "solution" after the fact.

Can anyone help me with my phone being stuck in recovery mode? I have looked all over the internet and have had no success. I have not tried to restore it with Itunes, because my data is not backed up and I don't want to lose it. Tinyumbrella would not work and the apple support website is completely useless!
Thanks, I figured that out, so I went ahead and restored it, which also didn't work! It gave me an error 3194, which I also can't figure out.
