CVI device driver DLL

Hello,
I tried to use CVI device drivers under LabVIEW 6i. The problem ist
that the device driver DLLs are missing. Is it possible to create
these DLLs without LabWindows, or create them with LabVIEW? I tried to
create them with a gnu compiler, there some c-source- and
c-header-files are missing. I need the DLLs for the device drivers
bp14xx, hp3325a an 3457a. Can anyone tell me how to get these DLLs?
Best regards
Jens

The CVI drivers for the HP3325 and HP3457 are very old it appears and were propabley created before plug and play and the need for DLL distribution. The only way to create the DLL required is with LabWindows and even then might take some effort to work. However, LabVIEW drivers do exist for the HP3325 and HP3457. Go here, select Agilent as the manufacturer and download them. I don't know about your BP14xx. Who is the manufacturer and what is the exact model number.

  • Agilent 53131A LabWindows/CVI device driver showing timeout error

    Hi All,
I have developed TestStand sequences for Measurements using Agilent 53131A frequency counter instrument. I have developed 2 sequences one using CVI drivers and the other using LabVIEW drivers. The functionality of the sequence is as follows
    1. Initialize the instrument
    2. Measure the frequency for N number of times
    3. Close the instrument
What I could find is the LabVIEW driver based sequence is working fine (for any number of measurements) but the CVI driver based sequence is showing Timeout errors after 1or 2 measurements.
Thsi is the driver page http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=1003
Can anyone help me to find the root cause of this issue?
    Thanks in advance...

Were you using the VXI Plug and Play or IVI driver?

  • Teststand call cvi instrument driver

I'm new to working with instrument drivers in TestStand. I'm trying to use TestStand to call a CVI instrument driver dll (for Agilent N5767 power supply), and then perform a specific function (init, set voltage, set current, etc.) All of the instruments in my test bench are connected via LAN, and they are configured in NI MAX too. I thought it was pretty straight forward, but I'm obviously missing something. Attached is the simple TS 3.1 seq file with the steps I'm trying perform.

    Hi Bkoch1,
Please elaborate on the problem you are experiencing. I am able to open the sequence file you have attached and view your steps and on the surface, this seems like it should work just fine. What indications are you experiencing that it does not work fine? Have you tried setting breakpoints and using the Watch Window to monitor variables to ensure that they are being passed into the DLL? Please explain what the problem is and try to narrow down where the problem occurs and we would be happy to help you.

  • Interface with device driver (API or DLL files)

I want to make my C++ program interface with an instrument which has a device driver available at the OEM's website. It's a DLL file (not a .cpp file), but I don't know how to call DLL file from C++. I am using Measurement Studio for Visual C++ and Microsoft Visual C++ compiler. Do you have a C++ example code or tutorial about calling DLL (or API) from C++ ?

    Irene,
Measurement Studio is simply a plug-in for Visual Studio C++. Calling a DLL is general to C/C++. It usually amounts to #including the .h file that comes with the library, like this:
    #include "MyDLL.h"
I found the following website through Google, which is pretty thorough on calling DLLs:
    http://www.codeproject.com/dll/XDllPt1.asp
    I hope that helps.

I have the same problem. I think that someone tried my iphone before me because when I want to reset it, I'm invited to enter a password that I didn't set. Also, when I go the Map application, the iphone indicate that I'm locateded in China while I'm in Tunisia. Now, I can't connect to my iphone to itunes, and I can't reset it because it ask me to enter a password that I didn't set.

  • Old iPod mini can't be recognized after formatting, and iTunes 'Apple Mobile Device Driver not found.'

My roommate gave me an old iPod Mini a few days ago. It was working fine 'til I plugged it into my computer and it asked me to format it. I did, and now it cannot be recognized by iTunes or my computer. My computer views it as a "removable disk" which cannot be accessed. In devices, it is listed as an Apple iPod though, so I'm hoping not all is lost. I have tried many quick fixes I've read on internet (including changing disk letter) but to no avail. I have reinstalled the new iTunes and now that is telling me it has not installed properly, and when I ran diagnostics, it reads that the Apple Mobile Device Driver not found. I will copy & paste all the info from the diagnostic run below, and if anybody can help me with my new (old) iPod, I'd be everly greatful!

What i knew about iPhone before buying it:
    What You Need
    To use iPhone, you need:
A new two-year wireless service plan with AT&T
A Mac or a PC with a USB 2.0 port and one of the following operating systems:
Mac OS X version10.4.10 or later
Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later
Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate edition
iTunes 7.3 or later, available at www.itunes.com
    An iTunes Store account
    An Internet connection
You must be at least 18 years old to open a new AT&T wireless account. You will need a
major credit card to open a new iTunes Store account.
    Yeahyeah check all that stuff;
Oh well; just when i thought i'd finally cross over to the beautiful packaging of APPLE. I remember in design school that form follows function. Thanks.

  • SOLVED - iPhone Bricked by Update Device Driver Not Installed Error 1602

    iPhone 4 / Windows 7 x64 / iTunes 9.2.1.5
My iPhone normally interfaces with iTunes on my PC via USB cable without issues.
iTunes prompts to update the iPhone when a new version of iOS is released. Each time, the update has failed as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1275.
The update process stops, the "Connect to iTunes" screen is all that displays on the phone, and an utterly informative alert message comes up in iTunes along the lines of "Error 1602 (or 1604), The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred." Along with this, the iPhone ceases to be recognized as a USB device by Windows 7, with a little notification tray pop-up informing me that "Device Driver Software was not successfully installed". The iPhone no longer shows up as a device in iTunes.
The generic troubleshooting steps listed at http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1275 (changing USB ports, changing USB cables, restarting the computer, uninstalling and reinstalling all Apple software, etc., etc.) were a useless waste of time, but following the links for USB troubleshooting led to this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
As instructed there, I located the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver in Device Manager. It appeared listed as "Apple Recovery (iBoot) USB driver" with a yellow exclamation point; thus I attempted to reinstall the Apple Mobile Device driver. First I uninstalled the existing driver, then scanned for hardware changes, then tried to update the driver as described. However, the path where the driver files were supposed to be (C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Driver) did not exist; the Driver folder was missing.
After Googling a little I came across http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1949672 and http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10806341. Following the instructions there, I was able to pull the device drivers (usbaapl64.sys, usbaapl64.cat, usbaapl64.inf and usbaplrc.dll) out of the iTunes installation program (from AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi, using WinRAR / Universal Extractor), put them in the previously nonexistent Driver folder and make Windows use the drivers.
Happily, this manual driver reinstall allowed Windows / iTunes to recognize the iPhone and proceed with the update / restore process. I had to repeat the driver reinstall process a couple of times during the iPhone restore - as it progressed, it kept switching the driver back to something nonfunctional - but the restore eventually went through, allowing me to keep my apps, data, history, etc. At least, until the next iOS update.

  • Import CVI Instrument Driver failure

Using the "LabVIEW Interface Generator for LabWindows/CVI Instrument Drivers" utility, I successfully converted (wrapped) an IVI-COM instrument driver for use with LabVIEW 8.2.1.  However, I have a customer who insists on using LabVIEW 6.0.  When I attempt to use the "Import CVI Instrument Driver" tool of version LabVIEW 6.0, I get a crash: Failure: "funcmenu.cpp", line 1873.  (Specifically, the error occurs after pressing "OK" to the "CVI Function Panel Converter" dialog and selecting the DLL.)  The pop-up suggests to navigate to www.ni.com/failure for assistance in resolving the problem, but when the proper data is entered in that web page, it errors also.
    1. Is it possible to do what I'm attempting to do?
    2. Any ideas on what is causing my problem?
    Thanks

The import tool for CVI drivers only supported IVI-C with LabVIEW 6. If there is no IVI-C driver available, you might be able to write C wrappers around the IVI-COM functions or manually write all of the ActiveX calls to the IVI-COM driver.

  • Instrument I/O Assistant Task with Device Driver

    Hello All,
I got some messag pop-up hint while using Tools»Create Instrument I/O Task in Labwindow/CVI.
=> "The feature requires the Instrument I/O Assistant.
=> Please install the Instrument I/O Assistant from the NI Device Drivers CD..
I want to practive to create Instrument I/O Task.
Is there any download entry on NI's web site for this?
    Much thanks,
    nonomiya

    Hi Nonomiya,
You simply need to install the Instrument I/O assistant from the device
driver CD that ships with CVI. It should allow you to use these tasks.
As far as something that will act like the assistant and let you create
those tasks in CVI without actually installing the Instrument I/O
Assistant from the device driver CD, there's not much available.
    Hope this is helpful,

  • "Import CVI Instrument Driver" doesnt work when parameter is viSession pointer

Why does "Import CVI Instrument Driver" menu selection generate a LLB that has VIs which have not been generated correctly when a VI function parameter returns a ViSession pointer. The only one generated correctly was "initialize", however, "autoConnectToFirst" was not. They both have similar prototypes in the .FP file. When I look at the block diagram of the init VI, there is a "IVI New Session" control, but in "autoConnectToFirst", there isn't. Therefore the session returned in Labview is 0, but the session returned in C (through debugging) is a valid session.

The strict answer to "Why?" is because we only implemented the special initialization code for the Initialize function. "autoConnectToFirst" is optional in VPP 3.2, and we chose not to implement it as a special case.
You'll just need to fix the Call Library Node in your VI wrapper to use the proper prototype. I'm not sure how best to handle the "IVI New Session" call; it really expects both a name and viSession, and "autoConnectToFirst" doesn't seem to return the name of the resource it chose. The "IVI New Session" function is what tells LabVIEW how to connect the VISA (or IVI) resource names with your viSession. You could call "VISA Find Resource" to get the first name and see if it's a supported device; this is supposed to match what "autoConnectToFirst" does.
Along those lines, you might be better off implementing "autoConnectToFirst" yourself in LabVIEW. I.e., call "VISA Find Resource", and loop through the results calling your "Initialize" function until you don't get an error.
Let me pull up a soapbox for a moment...
There's a common misconception that "Import CVI Instrument Driver" creates a perfect LabVIEW wrapper around a VXIpnp WIN or IVI-C driver with no manual intervention. The reality is that you will almost always have to do some manual fixups of the converted driver.
In LabVIEW 7, we improved the converter somewhat, and converting an IVI-C driver is now a three-step process: pre-processing the IVI-C driver, importing into LabVIEW, and then doing some programmatic fixups of the results. The resulting wrapper is better than earlier versions of LabVIEW, but it's not uncommon that you will still have to manually fix something up to make it a good, usable wrapper.
That's why we consider "Import CVI Instrument Driver" to be a tool for instrument driver developers. If a vendor creates an instrument driver for an instrument in C, it doesn't make sense for each end user to have to create the LabVIEW wrapper, including all the manual fixups.
Of course, if a vendor wants the best LabVIEW connectivity, they should write a LabVIEW-based driver. But if they're going to only write C- or COM-based drivers, they should create and distribute high-quality LabVIEW wrappers and not force end users to figure out how to do it on their own.
    My two cents.

    Hi jith,
Do you already have a driver developed for this PCI board?  You can access .dll's and call their functions from LabVIEW if you already have a .dll for this board developed.  Otherwise, I would recommend using the VISA Driver Development Wizard.  Hope this helps!

  • Equium A60-157: error caused by device driver

    Hi all,
I'm trying to write my PhD thesis at the moment and am being hampered by my laptop! It keeps randomly bringing up the blue screen of death and then restarting; when it's all loaded up, I get a 'serious error' message that says 'error caused by device driver'. As far as I know, all the programs I have are compatible... I was advised to restore factory settings, which I did a few months ago. And I've had the BIOS update suitable for my computer. But it's still happening!!
If it helps, the programs I use daily are Microsoft Word, Access and Powerpoint, Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger. I don't run any high spec games (only Minesweeper occasionally!)
What can I do? Does anyone else have this problem? Any advice would be much appreciated, as these crashes are not helping my work!
    Thanks...

    Hi guys,
I seem to have a similar problem. About a month ago I reinstalled windows using the product recovery cd and three days later I started getting a blue screen. But the error occurs only when shutting down (not always, I can`t see any pattern)- right before the shut down itself, windows has already logged off and settings are saved. The error code is 0x50 and the report says it is caused by an unknown device driver.
The day that stop error started I installed an educational software (Leankey's) for which I used a virtual cd. But at the initial launch the program "freezed" and I had to close it and open it again, there wasn`t a problem. After that I tried to copy some files on a blank cd (without using any burning software) and it said that the device was not accessible.
I tried disabling DMA but that didn`t help. In the event viewer I saw error messages that say the cdrom has a bad block. I`m not sure whether this has something to do with the stop error but they started at the same time. I can still burn cds with other software (nero). I tried to update the device driver but it didn`t help.
Maybe I have to uninstall the driver first but from the device manager when I check the properties of the device (driver details) it uninstalls the device and the driver remains. Should I delete the driver files manually? I have checked all device drivers and they are all compatible. All installed software is digitally signed. (I immediately removed the Learnkey`s software but I think it has changed some dll...
    I will appreciate any suggestions.
P.S. When I run the toshiba diagnostic tool it skips testing the cd/dvd but it doesn`t say why.
