Trimming my entire sequence..

I was wondering about some possibilities to save some space on my HD.
I am a little scared about the idea to trimming sequence media from my actual project.I ever
trimming sequences before.
if I trimming my sequence,the media will be deleted from my HD?
thx

Depends what you do.
Again, basic editing is non destructive. But, Media Managing can be destructive, if you tell it to. If you COPY...that isn't. The main media is left alone and a COPY of the media is made...trimmed to what you want. Recompress...same thing. Main Media left alone, copies of the footage, recompressed to a new codec, are made. MAKE OFFLINE...main media is left alone, and new CLIPS are made so you can recapture at whatever resolution you chose. MOVE...and USE EXISTING. Those are destructive.
If you want to trim your media, use the COPY option...make sure things all work and line up...then delete the other media.

  • Trimming a Multicam sequence (not just switching angles)

    I've just started using Premiere 5.5 and I'm trying to see if there's a simpler way to achieve what I need with MultiCam editing. Here's my setup:
    I have 3 clips, shot simultaneously from 3 different angles, each lasting about 20 minutes. I want to cut between the different angles AND edit out the dead air/blown lines/etc. The final clip will probably be around 5 minutes.
    If I was editing a single clip, I would simply pull it up in the Source Monitor, use Mark In/Mark Out to "grab" the good pieces, and then Insert/Overwrite that footage into the Timeline. Simple no-nonsense way to edit 20 minutes down to 5. But with MultiCam editing, the entire 20-min original footage is already nested in the sequence, and the editing is simply choosing camera angles. If I want to trim the footage in addition to choosing camera angles, it appears I have to go into the TimeLine itself and do all my trimming and dragging from there.
    Is there a way to preview the MultiCam footage in the Source Monitor and simply Insert the pieces you want into a brand new sequence? (In addition to choosing the different angles for each piece?) For me, that seems MUCH simpler than having the entire sequence on the Timeline itself and chopping out 75% of it after the fact.
    I might be missing something obvious, so please let me know! I've checked out several different Video Tutorials from Adobe but they all focus on a Multicam edit of choosing different angles with no real cuts within the footage itself.
    Thanks,
    Rich

    Not exactly. But there is a workflow that accomplishes what you want in a slightly different way.
    What I typically do is to nest the multi-cam edit sequence into what I call a "target" sequence. Then I do my timeline editing on this target sequence. Why? So if I screw it up I don't have to start over from scratch and redo my camera angle choices all over again. I can just delete my target sequence, then create a new one, nest my multi-cam edit sequence in this new one, and start over. Repeat as needed until I get what I want. Typically I'll have three or four of these targets, pulling different bits and pieces out of the results of the multi-cam edit, for web videos, teasers, or to isolate a single topic.
    Easy enough to do. When you get done picking camera angles, go to the Program Manager window and click on the "new item" icon on the bottom edge of the window. Select "sequence" from the pop up menu, and name it something you can identify like "target". Then click on the multi-cam edit sequence icon in the Project Manager window, and drag that down to your new timeline. Edit at will -- nothing you do in this new sequence will harm or change anything you did in your multi-cam edit sequence. But, if you change things in your multi-cam edit sequence, this changes will trickle down to your target sequence. So you can still adjust your timing on camera angle switches and these changes will show up in your target sequence.

  • Unable to play back entire sequence in CS4

    I'm transitioning from FCP to Premiere and am having an odd issue with a project. I cut up a clip with the razor blade tool, copied it a few times, reversed some in the speed/duration panel and arranged them in a sequence. I then rendered the entire work area. However, when I try to play back my sequence, it just plays less than a second and then the marker on the timeline returns to the original point. I feel stupid asking this, but...uh, how do I just play back my entire sequence? I must be missing something here.
    Thanks,
    Zach

    Thanks for the suggestion.  I thought this could have been the problem as the files are on a different disk from the application, but launching premiere as root yields the same issue.  The option to repair permissions on the secondary drive (where the files are located) is greyed out in Disk Utility, possibly because I disabled permissions for everything on that disk.  I even tried logging in as a user on that drive and launching Premiere, but then I get a "media pending" screen in the program window.
    Any more ideas?

  • Export Setting: how to make "entire sequence" as default?

    Hi all,
    One of my largest pet peeves with Premiere Pro/Adobe Media Encoder is that it defaults to the source range of "work area". I never want to do this. I want to export the full sequence always. However Premiere Pro seems to like to change the work area slider in the timeline if I move stuff around a lot, and since I've never had to worry about this in Final Cut Pro, I'm not used to always checking to see if the work area slider is the same length as my sequence. Thus there's been many a time where my videos have exported with a big chunk of black at the end of some videos.
    Is there a way to make the default source range be "entire sequence" rather than "work area"?
    Thanks,
    William

    Nope: Adobe Feature Request/Bug Report Form
    In the meantime, zoom out full in your sequence (hit the '\' key) and double-click in the time ruler. That will set the WAB to the full duration of the sequence, so it won't matter if you're set to Work Area or Entire Sequence in the Export Settings.
    For what it's worth, I've also requested that the source range be able to be saved into encoding presets; that would help this situation somewhat, as well.

  • Applying a transition to an entire sequence?

    Is there a way to bulk-apply a transition to an entire sequence? For instance, if I have a multi-clip edited with just straight-cuts, and want each cut to be a cross-dissolve? It takes forever to apply a transition to each cut afterwards. Thank you!

    Set your default transition.
    Then select the complete sequence timeline and drag it into the canvas choosing the overwrite with transition.

  • Need to apply a video filter to entire sequence...

    Hey gang-
    I'd really like to apply some filters (such as some color correctors and such) to an entire sequence. Same filter on all video. Copy and paste seems like a terrible waste of time, and short of exporting it and "flattening" it to it's own quicktime, I don't know how.
    Thanks in advance....

    Many ways:
    1. Do it for one, then use the Select All Tracks Forward button (one of the forward arrows in the toolbar next to the audio meters) and drag the name of the filter from the Filters tab in the first clip onto the selected clips.
    2. Do it for one clip, then copy the clip. Select all the others, then ctrl-click and go to Paste Attributes. Then select Filters.
    3. Create a new sequence, then drag the old sequence into the new one. This will nest the sequence. Apply the color correction to the nested clip. This is probably the most flexible as it is much easier to make changes to the filters later on.

  • Hi, dragging jpeg files into i-movie - the selection of jpegs is repeating certain photos and not featuring others, making the entire sequence impossible to view. PLEASE HELP!

    Hi, I have been dragging jpeg files into i-movie all week without issue. Now all of a sudden, the selection of jpegs I'm dragging is repeating certain photos and not featuring others, making the entire sequence impossible to view.
    Please help, this is urgent for a funeral tomorrow! It didnt happen with any of the other family tributes, they all worked fine.
    Many thanks,
    Ruth

    It worked! Thank you! I finally just finished about 20 minutes ago! It took over 26 hours to complete the process you described, but I stuck with it and it worked. I am glad I didn't give up or "forget it" as some might have suggested. That would have set me back until tomorrow!
    Ultimately, it turned out there were 45,910 jpgs created. No wonder it took so many hours to render/display them all. It ended up being about 10 hours before it seemed they were all rendered but the process between them displaying and being able to start really deleting them took a few hours because partly I was asleep and also partly it took forever to do anything. Any action as simple as selecting and right-clicking to Get Info, or emptying the trash, would take 20-30 minutes, a couple times longer. The clock stopped many times for 20-30 minutes at a time, a few times over 30 minutes, before catching back up. My cursor never froze which is what really kept me going, although it was a spinning beach ball for most of the time. I was never so relieved to see my regular cursor as opposed to seeing a spinning beach ball as I was early this morning after about 10 hours!
    Once I was able to open a Finder window and select all 45,900 files (I had already deleted 10 in the previous couple hours during experimenting of trying to figure out what would work best), then right-click and select to move all the files to the trash, the process of moving them to the trash took 4.5 hours. Then deleting them from the trash took a couple minutes. There were 21.4 GB!!! No wonder the whole process took 26 hours!
    mende1, thank you so much!

  • Effect to Affect Entire Sequence?

    Is there a way to apply an effect to an entire sequence without nesting the sequence into another sequence? In avid you just apply an effect like a matte to an empty video track above a large section of video and affect a whole range of clips. Is there a way to do that?
    I'm also wondering if there is a way to remove effects from a selection of clips without loading each clip individually in the browser?
    Thanks,
    S

    Other than using the method Jim mentioned (which also works for copying attributes (filters etc) to other clips.
    Add effect to first clip.
    Get it looking the way you want.
    Select all other clips you want the effect to affect.
    Open FILTERS tab in viewer.
    Click and drag effect or effects to selected clips in timeline.

  • Exporting entire sequence (MPEG-2 DVD) exports entire sequence audio but only 2/3 video?

    I'm certain this is something simple but can't for the life of me figure out what is going on here.   My entire sequence is 24:10 long.  Export produces a video file that is 17:19 long and an audio file that is complete (24:10).  Looking at my sequence, 17:19 is precicely in between two clips (of dozens) but there doesn't appear to be anything interesting/unusual about either of those clips or the break and transition between them?
    Help!!?   THANKS in advance!

    Either by playing the video file (it ends precisely between those two clips) , viewing it's length metadata in Windows, or after importing in to DVD Flick to burn a DVD.
    Since I posted this question I tried exporting with H.264 YouTube preset and got entire sequence exported fine (video and audio).
    Sent from a mobile device.  Excuse brevity.

  • When exporting a small area using in-out points, why does Premiere render audio for ENTIRE sequence?

    I'm trying to export a small section of my timeline using in and out points... but it looks like Premiere wants to render the audio for the entire sequence and not just my in-out points.
    I added a bunch of audio effects to the entire sequence so it's taking 10 minutes to render this audio. When I click on the cancel button, Premiere just freezes and I have to force shut it down.
    Is it possible for premiere to only render the audio in the in-out points I originally asked for to cut down on export times?
    -Pete

    Similar problem here but on a Mac.   AME is always much slower than directly exporting from Premiere, but if I start to get slow renders a reboot always sorts the issue out.

  • Motion 3 not exporting entire sequence

    I'm trying to export and sequence from Motion and it will not export the entire sequence. My animation is not terribly complicated, just photos with some animated text so I don't think that it's something my computer can't handle. Motion doesn't crash or do anything strange. I'm not having any problems with any other Motion projects (some that are much more involved too). It just stops the export around 3/4 way through. I've checked all my settings and everything appears to be in order. I've even tried exporting parts of the animation and it still won't export everything between the in and out points. Any suggestions?

    when you export are you using "export play range"?

  • Binding to an Entire Sequence, How?

    I would like to know if ANY member of a sequence updates.
    For example:
    public class Subject {
        var students: Student[];
    }Then I wanted to do an "all student" calculation, this if any are added or removed work do the calculation again).
    public class AverageStudentScore {
        var subject: Subject;
        var student: bind getAverageStudentScore(subject.students);
        function getAverageStudentScore(s: Students[]):Number {
            .....do calculation here and return.
    }The examples I have found online only show a sequence bound to a sequence and a var bound to an individual (known)

    Hey dgreive.
    Actually, my problem is a little more complex than I had anticipated. I will change the example so that it's a little easier to explain...
    Each 'Person' exists in a sequence of 'people' and has a bound on replace listener hoping to discover friends amounst the 'people' as they are inserted.
    public class SocialScene {
        public var people: Person[];
        init {
            insert Person{name:"Fred", socialScene: this, friends: ["Jane","Pete"]} into people
            insert Person{name:"Jane", socialScene: this, friends: ["Fred"]} into people
            insert Person{name:"Pete", socialScene: this, friends: ["Fred"]} into people
    public class Person {
        public var name: String;
        public var friends: String[];
        public var socialScene: SocialScene;
        var people: Person[] = bind socialScene.people on replace {
            //do whatever you do with friends as they appear
    }The real problem is that as a person is a bound listener on the people sequence. When the binding is fired (initially by a new person insert) for some reason the 'replace' bind firing then causes another 'replace' bind firing on sequence, and another bind on replace is fired. This results in more or less and infinite loop and I get a lovely stack overflow. Can a member of a sequence be a bound listener on the sequence it exists within? I guess I don't understand the rules here.

  • Not rendering entire sequence only less than a minute  :-(

    Has any one else had the problem of having less than a minute of render regqardless of the durtion of the sequence. Audio goes first then video goes black and plays for the duration of the render with no audio and black video?

    I did . I even tried to add the extra 25 seconds at the tail of the sequence after the edited clips end...same result, audio goes then video follows a few seconds after that. I should add that I am using Pr CC 2014

  • Can I apply proc amp filter to entire sequence like in Avid land?

    Was up against a white sky and dark skinned people.  Of course I exposed for the skintones,
    so now I'm stuck with non-broadcast safe white levels.  When in Avid land I remember being able to
    create a new video track and apply the proc amp filter there.  Is this somehow possible in FCP 6?
    Yes, it's for air, and yes, I know broadcasters have limiters.  Any suggestions?

    Nesting the Sequence will allow you to apply a filter to eveything at once.
    Another way, do one clip and adjust the filter to your taste. Right click that clip on the Timeline and copy it.
    Highlight all other clips, right click and choose "Paste Attributes > Filters" That will apply the same setting to all the others and you can still tweak individual shots if they don't look quite right.

  • Nudge on my history palette is registering every individual nudge instead of the entire sequence of nudges.

    Every nudge that I make, let it be a 1px nudge, 10px, or a hold-down nudge, registers as a single individual nudges instead of one single Nudge sequence.
    This makes it difficult to return to a previous state, and also taking up large portions of my history. In addition to the Hold-down Nudge, not only does it register as multiple nudges, but its sometimes 2-4 nudges from one hold-down nudge.
    I am on a Mac currently running the latest Photoshop CC (2014.2.1) and have noticed this happening on my colleagues' computer as well, but not on everyones. I can't tell if this is a glitch or a new feature.
    If anyone has been having this problem or has a solution please let me know. It is very annoying and making me Free Transform everytime I just want to move something.
    Thanks!

    Doesn't seem to happen here with mac os x 10.10.1 and photoshop cc 2014.2.1
    See if resetting the photoshop preferences makes any difference
    To reset the preferences
    Press and hold down the Shift+Command+Option keys while starting photoshop cc 2014
    Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the adobe photoshop settings file
    Press Yes
