Trouble installing PSE 11

I am new to the Photoshop world, and am attempting to install PSE 11 on my Mac Desktop (MAC OS X 10.6.8)
A couple of things that might assist you in assisting me:
1. I purchased and downloaded this product from Amazon.com
2. I previously downloaded and installed a trial version of PS CS 4 or 5 (I don't remember which, because it was for a school class that I never took and I never attempted to use the program and can no longer find it on my computer)
3. I am not a MAC whiz and a lot of the forum information I have found reads like "Greek" to me.
4. Here are the install error messages I have received. If someone could help explain STEP BY STEP how to fix this issue, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!

Have the same issue. Have tried everything I can find. I have a new iMac running OS 10.8.2. Have spent the entire day on this problem.
Uninstalled all adobe products
Removed all left over files and preferences - per Adobe tech instructions I was to remove the following:
> Applications/Adobe*
> /Applications/.AdobePatchFiles (hidden, use Go > Go to Folder command)
> /Applications/Utilities/Adobe*
> /Library/Application Support/Adobe*
> /Library/Application Support/FLEXnet Publisher/
> /Library/Preferences/com.adobe*

> /Users/[user]/Library/Caches/Adobe*
> /Users/[user]/Library/Caches/com.adobe*
> /Users/[user]/Library/Preferences/Adobe*
> /Users/[user]/Library/Preferences/com.adobe*
Repaired permissions - using Disk Utility
Edited premission on all relevant folders to include my admin user name giving read and write permission and applied to all enclosed files and folders
Tried installing under a different user.
I'm beginning to suspect this is an Adobe installer issue and not my Mac

I have no idea what I did wrong; I thought I followed all instructions correctly.
    W. G. Kussmaul MD

    Hello again kglad,
You may be aware that Kussmaul is a famous medical name, though not because of me.
At any rate-- I followed that last link.  Here is what I did:
    • deleted the PSE plist file from the hidden Library.  There were no other PSE10 preferences; probably because the installation never got that far and the program was never run.
    • there was no Saved state to delete, for same reason presumably.
    • repaired premissions
    • created new Admin user and attempted to install PSE 10.  Same lack of result.  The program (which comes on 3 DVD's) kept asking me to insert the PSE10 disk (not saying whether disc 1, 2 or 3; the disk instructions say to start with #3 for Mac users which I did).   Eventually it gave me the notice that installation had failed, with the same listing of errors and warnings that I provided at the start of this thread.
so, no luck as yet.  May have to pony up $80 for an upgrade to PSE11 but would still like to know why PSE10 doesn't install on a MacBook Air running OS 10.8.2.  I checked the Apple discussion forums and no one else seems to be having the same issue.

  • I am having trouble installing PSE 8 to new laptop.

I purchased PSE 8 as a download in March 2010.  I made a back up disc but it will not install.  I'm getting error message 6.  I downloaded the licensing tool but that did not work either.  Can I download PSE 8 again  I still have my key number.

No, you aren't. The serial number for the PSE 8 download will not work with the boxed version and vice versa. This only changed with PSE 9, but in all previous versions, if you have a disc, you need the disc for your serial number to work. Also, there is no download link available if you didn't buy the download in the first place.

  • Trouble installing PSE 11 on Macbook Pro

When I try to type the serial number in order to install, my computer will let me type numbers into the boxes but won't let me type letters.

you need to find your serial number:  http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html

  • Trouble installing PSE 8 on imac

I've been trying for three days to install PSE8 on my iMac - no luck.  The installation bars go to about 95% of the installation, then the program quits and the disc is ejected.  The message says "Failed Installation."  Error type 2.   I tried removing other Adobe products -  still can't install PSE8.  I've followed the suggestions made on another post - no better.  I've contacted Adobe support , and have been told that the incident report has been escalated to another group of technicians.  I haven't heard back from them.
I think that there must be something about PSE8 that isn't compatible with Mac OS 10.6.1.  I certainly hope that the problem can be fixed, or this may be the last Adobe product I'll ever purchase.

Everyone really should have a bootable external available.  External hard drives are cheap enough today.
All computer hard drives will fail.  The only question is when.  Each of my two external hard drives has a full, bootable, duplicate copy of ALL of my laptop computer files - the operating system and all applications and all of my work.   I update the backup of the operating system and applications once a month.  I update all of my work every two hours.
When my internal hard drive eventually fails, I'll just reboot from my external hard drive.  Lost time - five minutes.
Every Monday, I go to Bank of America's safety deposit vault and leave there the external hard drive I’ve been using all week.  I then take home the external hard drive that has been sitting in that safety deposit box all week.  If my house burns down - or if there is a robbery - the worst that can happen is that I'll lose one week's work.  I can live with that.
I really don’t need the security of a safety deposit box.  It also costs me about $600 a year to rent this box.  When I was working, I would take my home backup DVDs to the office and store them there.  I also would take my office backup DVDs to my home and store them there.  Since I’ve retired, I really don’t have an offsite location to use, so I use a bank safety deposit box.  It’s expensive overkill, but it works.
Ironically, the most stable and readable long-term storage medium is writing your work onto paper with ink.  The Dead Sea scrolls were created that way 1,800 years ago - and are perfectly legible.  I have ten-year-old disks that essentially are unreadable.  Being paranoid will insure that your work remains readable as computer technologies change.
I know I'm paranoid, but am I paranoid enough?  (Who said that?)
I never thought of creating a new admin user.  I didn't think of the problem as being that far upstream.

  • Problem installing PSE 8 on Mountain Lion

Hi, I'm having trouble installing PSE 8 on Mountain Lion. It worked just fine on Lion, then I upgraded to ML, and it wouldn't open. I deleted and tried to reinstall PSE 8, and have not gotten beyond the "Progress" pane with a message that "a required component has failed to install correctly", with the error:
    "Adobe Anchor Service
    Error:
    Error 2."
I have tried a bunch of different things; running the CS cleaner tool, disabling my virus software, repairing disk permissions, restarting my computer, and deleting all Adobe files from these locations:
/Users/<<username>>/Library/Application Support >> The Adobe folder
    /Users/<<username>>/Library/Preferences >> Anything with com.adobe
/Library/Application Support >> folder named Adobe
    /Library/Preferences >> Anything with com.adobe
    /Applications >> Application files
    /Applications/Utilities >> The Adobe Updater
I've even created another admin account on my computer and tried to install PSE 8 there, but I still get the same error.
Any help to get this sucker installed is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

I looked a little more into fixing the issue, and it turns out that I missed the top level Library > Application Support > Adobe folder. Once that was deleted, my problem was solved.
I did find this article helpful, for anyone else who is having similar issues: http://www.cultofmac.com/90060/how-to-completely-uninstall-software-under-mac-os-x-macrx/

  • Trouble installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 10

    Hi,
I just wrote that I finally installed 2 of 3 discs. It would have been helpful to know the content of these discs. I presumed disc 1 is essential, disc 2 in my set is the trila for Adobe Premiere Elements 10 but I do not know what disc 3 contains? I needed help for disc 1, was able finally to install disc 2 but had trouble ejecting the disc following installation and had to shut down the computer with disc still inside in order to get it to eject.
I need to know what the content is for disc 3? and why is it so difficult to install these discs? I have all the system requirements,

I'm running Windows 7 on an HP 6140f desktop.  I just installed PSE 10, as well; had bought it from Amazon almost two months ago.
Using the "Multimedia Optical Drive," I installed PSE from Disk 1 -- everything went fine.  However, when I tried to eject Disk 1, I got this message: "An error occurred while ejecting 'DVD-RW Drive (E:) PSE 10'.
I have shut down and restarted, have run the CD/DVD troubleshooter AND the Device troubleshooter.  No luck.
Any suggestions before I disable the device and/or reload the driver?  Anyone else running into these problems on the initial install?

No. From the very beginning all versions of PSE have been able to coexist.

  • Trouble installing 2.1.1 for ipod touch generation 1

I am having troubles installing 2.1.1 ipod touch software on a gen. 1 ipod touch. I am using an IMac G5, itunes 8, OS 10.5.4 and the process of updating in itunes has frozen with the blue candy stripe bar spinning as it says "preparing iPod software for restore."
The ipod is black with an white apple and a spinning wheel.
    It's been about 5 hours.
    What should I do?
    Cheers.

Just found some info on apple support.
Updating your iPhone and iPod touch to iPhone software 2.0 or later for the first time
Software updates prior to iPhone software 2.0 updated the device without affecting your settings or media content. Updating your iPhone and iPod touch from iPhone software 1.x to 2.0 or later includes a back up, erase, and then restore of your device prior to installing the new update. iTunes will offer to create a one-time media backup of your device depending on what content is on your device and what content is stored in the iTunes Library you are connected to. You should ensure that you have enough free space on your Mac or PC to accommodate a backup that matches the capacity of your iPhone or iPod touch (4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB, or 32 GB) if you proceed with the this backup.
As a result of this comprehensive one-time media backup, this process can take some time. The amount of time, is determined by the amount of data on the iPhone or iPod touch.
7 hours and counting. Stay tune. Maybe by tomorrow morning!

  • Hello i am having trouble installing itunes 10.5 on my laptop i have windows vista. it says error 7 windows error 998. i now have no itunes. i have tried to uninstall itunes but it still wont work and keep coming up with that message. please help!

    hello
i am having major trouble installing itunes. i had itunes working fine and i went to update it as it told me there was an update which i thought i did. i went on my laptop the next day and it said "itunes was not installed correctly error 7 windows error 998"
i read a few articles on here but i am having no joy. i uninstalled itunes and reinstalled and that did not work. i also unistalled some other apple things cant remember the names sorry!
i am not a whiz on a computer so really need some help please!!

Installing, and uninstalling, applications never touches or removes the data.
Clean out and uninstall all the apple programs and software thru Programs and manually.
Might want to use Revo and CCleaner
I always use manual standalone installers (and keep a couple backup versions)
itunes 10.5 may affect iTunes media playlists, not sure, depends on what you have.
A search of these forums will show some threads.
I'd clean up vista, you need SP2 or later, and specific error message?
I wonder as you arenot the first with a dell if maybe the OS or included software.
Security programs like Norton and older versions of Kaspersky have been implicated.
Also settings in IE that affect pop-ups and plug-ins.

    hey guys
i recently got a IBM thinkpad with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

Try the following:  On the Windows 7 computer go to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a Printer, Local Printer, Create a new port, Local port, Next, \\xpcomputername\lj3015 (where you put in the actual share name of the computer and printer), OK, Windows Update (and wait for the list to repopulate), HP Laserjet 3015 PCL5,  Next, Next.

Hold down the option key and select
