Trouble showing documents in a browser
Hi, I am having trouble displaying html documents in a browser.
I know that I should use AppletContext.showDocument( url ).
the problem is that AppletContext is an interface.
I tried create an Applet object: Applet a = new Applet();
and then: a.getAppletContext() to return an AppletContext. But I got NullPointerException for this.
I have already extend a JFrame in my class, and I can't extend Applet.
what can I do?

You can have 2 classes, one extends the JFrame for
whatever purpose you need, and have another extends Applet, but the point is not that.
If all you need is an appletcontext, then why need to extends applet, just instantiate right? and you get null pointer.
I believe you have to run it as an applet to get the one, if not, when you get applet context, it returns a null pointer.
If you want to display a document in an application,
you can shell out to the browser and ask it to do so.

Ever since I updated to Mountain Lion, I have not been able to access PDF file using Adobe Reader or view streamed video using Adobe Flash Player. How can I get FireFox to work with Adobe on my MAC 10.8.2 OS?

Adobe cannot show documents in my Firefox Browser version 16.0.2
For the last few months I have not been able to open and print my bank statements. I have updated both Firefox and Adobe. Adobe reader will not open documents in the browser. What do I do?
I do not know anything about technical jargon or anything about add-ons or plug-ins, I just know that typically if I open a PDF file from a website it opens just fine in the browser. However, I am unable to open PDFs inside of Adobe Reader. When I do, the error message reads as follows:

i did download the new version of adobe but a massage showed all the time (Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, then Quit and relaunch the browser)
You downloaded Adobe... what? Adobe has tons of applications.

Hi,
I'm using Oracle9i and I would like to show a document from Oracle Forms.
There is no problem in showing it generally, using web.show_document. But the document is displayed in a new browser window.
And the problem occurs when I try to show the document "inside" the form, I mean in a form window (or in a form field as in Forms 6), not in a separate browser window.
Do you know how to solve the problem?

web.show_document() cannot show documents within a form. You could use a JavaBean to stream documents, but I am not aware of a bean that does render OLE documents or other binary formats so it can be used in Forms. The option you should go for is to use the separate browser window.

Trouble saving documents to server at work location
I am using the following apps to edit documents located on the server at my work location from my home - Cisco AnyConnect VPN, FB file browser and Pages. I can easily bring up a document and edit it in Pages using these apps but I can not find a way to save the edited document back to the the server at work. I could email the document to my self but it seems to me that if I can load the document onto my iPad then I should be able to save it. I can't find the procedure in any documentation.

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to update documents from Outlook to SharePoint 2010.
I did a test as the followings:
1. Create a library, and allow Content Type as Library settings->Advanced Setting, under ‘Allow management of content type?’, select Yes.
2. Click on Library Settings->Document under Content Types, click on Document Information Panel settings, and select ‘Always show Document…’.
3. Create some custom cloumns
4. Upload some documents to the library
5. Then click on Library->Connect to Outlook, the library will be synced to Outlook
6. In Outlook, find the library
7. Double click a document, the document was opened, and the document information(Title and custom columns) were displayed correctly.
8. Change the document, and save it
9. Then close the document, it pop up a dailog box, like the below screenshot.
10. Click on Update, then the document will be updated in SharePoint
Which type did you use for the custom columns (Year, Category, Document Type)?
Please have a try as the above steps.

Homemade Apple Loops (w/Loops Utility) won't show up in Loop Browser
I just finished making a whole batch of homemade Apple Loops. Through Logic I opened up each audio file in the Apple Loops Utility, marked its tempo, marked "Looped" and then did the transients window to make sure it sounded good, then did "Save" or "Save All" from the Apple Loops Utility task tray.
I then dumped that folder full of custom loops into my loop browser for catalog'ing, but for some reason only about 10 of them show up when I click "All" to see all the loops in that folder.
So I re-opened the entire batch in Apple Loops Utility and made tiny changes to each loop's transients, just enough to trigger the dot next to the loop that means "you need to save these changes" - and I resaved the entire batch.
Tried the add-to-loop-browser process again, and again, only those initial 10 loops showed up in the browser again. The remaining 190 won't pop up.
I can't figure out what's missing or what I did wrong. Any ideas?

If you run into this same problem:
In order for your homemade loops to show up in Logic's Loop Browser, when in the Apple Loops Utility you need to select at least one "Descriptor" - if you don't, the loop won't appear in the browser. Even if you don't need a Descriptor, just batch-select all of your loops in the tray and then pick 1 Descriptor, resave, and re-drop into Apple's Loop Browser.

Back up all data.
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again. -
Favicon doesn't show up in firefox browser

I have noticed that in some pages firefox doesn't show up (or recognise) their favicon
I give you an example of http://www.november89.eu/
if you load this in Chrome, you see a favicon, whereas in FF not.
I think this might be a task for developers...
PS:
I see another problem (which might be already handled in other thread) -> the favicon of some pages is previewed correctly (on tab bar) , but it still doesn't shows up in the "browsing history" when looking at browsing history...

I was ALWAYS able to open Adobe Reader items on my IMAC but just recently it is giving me a message stating "Before Viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and Accept the End User License Agreement, then quit and relaunch the browser. When I download Adobe Reader for MAC it does not give me an option to except and Agreement I am using OS 10.9 HELP ASAP!!

Nothing to do with the download; you need to open Adobe Reader once after the install is complete, and accept the EULA. -

looks like your user has more permissions than needed. You could try to remove the user from User Information List (<a href="http:///_layouts/15/people.aspx?MembershipGroupId=0">http://<your_site>/_layouts/15/people.aspx?MembershipGroupId=0)
and grant him/her ONLY read permissions (add it to the SharePoint group with read permissions).
Another options is to create a new permission level (via Central Admin->Manage Web Application, select the web application and choose "Permission Policy"). When creating the permission policy select "View Items" under List permissions.
Create a new SharePoint group and assign the newly created permission policy. Inside the permission policy you could add accounts that could Only view items for the site collection.
