Trouble with a composite key & unique violation

Hi all
as mentioned yesterday I'm a novice so apologies in advance for any lack of clarity in my question:
I'm doing the standard student estate agent database and I have come across an issue with a composite key.
the table in question follows:

buyer_id CHAR(5) not null references buyer (buyer_id),
property_id CHAR(5) not null references property (property_id),
primary key (BUYER_ID, PROPERTY_ID),
offer_date DATE not null,
offer_time NUMBER(4) not null,
offer_amount NUMBER(10,2) not null
and I have all the other tables in position with data loaded. However, when I try to load data into this table the buyer_id & property_id can be duplicated (it makes sense a buyer could make several offers on the same property).
I'm not sure how to get around it. When I simply remove the primary key line the the next line offer_date.... is not recognized. I'm I missing something obvious? I am not allowed to changed the structure of the table. Do I need another identifier for the composite key?

If you want to stick with natural primary keys, you would probably need to use the combination of (buyer_id, property_id, offer_date), assuming that the same buyer wouldn't make simultaneous offers on the same property. Given that this creates a rather unwieldy key for any child tables to reference, and given that the BUYER and PROPERTY tables appear to have synthetic foreign keys, you would probably want to add an OFFER_ID column to your table that is the primary key for the table and is populated via a sequence.

Trouble with Non Cumulative Key Figures

I am working on Non Cumlative Key Figures, (NCKF). I have the data like this
Sales rep S100 visited SHOP S1 on 1st Jan and 10th Aug, and transacted worth 100 and 500
SHOP S2 on 1st Mar and 1st July and transacted worth 200 and 300
SHOP S3 on 3rd Sept. and transacted worth 400
Sales rep S200 visited SHOP S1 on 1st Jan and 1st Aug and transacted worth 100 and 300,
visited SHOP S2 on 1st April and transacted worth 200
I created Non Cumulative Key Figure in the following manners:
In modeling in InfoObjects I double clicked on my key figure BILLAMT and selected the Aggregation tab. I selected Counter (all values) for Exception aggregat. By default Agg. Referen. Char was 0calday. I then activated the info object and went to BEx. Here I took other IOs like Salesrep, Shop NUM and Dt. Of trans in rows and Bill amt in columns and executed the report. I am not getting the output how it should come for NON cumulative key figures.
But when I right click the key figure Bill Amount in BEx in change query mode and select properties. I go to the option Calculate result as and selected the option as Count all values. And in another option Calculate Single Value as I selected the option Count all values. I said OK, saved the query and executed it. Now the output is similar to how it comes for a Non Cumulative Key Figure query but I am unable to understand the output.
Now my doubt is where do we set the properties for Non Cumulative Key Figures? Is it in the Administrator Workbench under Modelling under InfoObjects?
OR
Is it in BEx change query mode by right clicking on the key figure and selecting properties?

As for the setting for Non Cumulative key figures...the default setting is done in the Key Figure properties, where u can define the Exception Aggregation. This property is used as such in the query, but if suppose u are getting the normal aggregation in the query , what you could do is "Create The Key Figure as Global Calculated Key Figure in Bex" and go to properties...click on the Button for aggregation ..select the aggregation and define with respt to 0CALDAY ..here.

Trouble with Lightbox Composition and triggers

I find working with the lightbox composition and triggers utterly infuriating!
I am trying to build a page with multiple lightbox compositions on it and I want each lightbox (and each slide within) to be identical - i.e. all to be the same size image frame, the same size text frame and styles etc. I have set up one with 6 slides and can copy and paste this down the page, but I am trying to add more triggers (and images) on some lightboxes and this is where I have difficulty. When I click the 'add trigger' button it adds another trigger but doesn't add the image frame or text frame. I then try to copy and paste the image and text frames onto the space but instead of this working as expected it simply adds the image on top of all the other images (and my previous and next buttons). If I try to 'send backwards' it puts the image frame behind the main container.
Is there a way to add a trigger so that it basically duplicates the previous slide into the next, where I could then simply change the image and text?
I also want all but the first of the triggers to be invisible. Is there a view mode that shows frame edges (as you can in InDesign) so I can see where the other triggers are? Currently I make all the triggers a solid colour until just before I publish the site when I make them all invisible. However once published if I need to edit the site I can't go back in a quickly select all the triggers, I have to stab around blindly until I happen to select them. It would be great if there was a way to view the frame edges - this would also make it handy when moving items so you don't overlap them inadvertantly, or would show me if I have an empty frame sitting somewhere.

As of now every new trigger you add you get a blank target frame without any of the contents from the previous slide. You may submit this as an idea to either allow to add new frames based on a defined template or allow an existing frame to be duplicated.
For now, you can copy all the objects in an existing frame and copy them. Then select the target frame and do an Edit > Paste in place. This would paste the content on top of the widget (not part of the target frame yet). Now with the content still selected click on one of the objects with mouse and nudge the selected objects a little bit (a pixel or two) - this would add them to the target slide. Then you can again select them and nudge them back in place as required.
For selecting transparent triggers, you can select the one visible trigger and then right-click/ctrl+click and choose "Select Same (Trigger)". This would select all the triggers in the widget and allow you to set fill or stroke to them all at once.

I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE B3 KEY

i've upgraded my logic express 7 to logic pro 8.
everything works fine... except...
when i try to play my software instruments(any of the listed ones),
no midi signal goes through between my controller(REMOTE 37SL) and my computer when i press B3 key (it's B for sure but i'm not sure if it's B3... although i'm pretty sure it is...). it only happens at that spot.
anyone knows how to resolve this??? please help~!!~

This is a really common new user issue, and comes up here a lot.
You've MIDI learned your MIDI note to a key command, thus removing it from the sequencer part of Logic. It happens when you hit command-L to MIDI learn something, then play a note on your keyboard.
To clear the assignment, go into the key commands or controller assignments windows, find the assigned note to a command, and clear it. if you don't know how to do that, then just trash your preferences files - this will reset the controller assignments and all your notes will work as expected again.

CQL Join on Coherence Cache with Composite Key

I have a Coherence Cache with a composite key and I want to join a channel to records in that cache with a CQL processor. When I deploy the package containing the processor, I get the following error:

I think that I'm using the entire key. If I change the key to a single field, it deploys OK. I found a similar issue when I defined a Java class to represent the composite key. Is it possible to join in this way on a composite key cache?
I could define another field which is a concatenation of the fields in the composite key but this is a little messy.

Unfortunately, joining on composite keys in Coherence is not supported in the released versions. This will be supported in 12g release.
As you mention, defining another field as key, which is the concatenation of the original keys is the workaround.

Need help with defining composite foreign keys

Hi there, i´m in troubles with defining a composite foreign key. The scenario is:
* Table TABLE_A has no unique primary key. Instead its primary key is a composition of five foreign keys.
* Table TABLE_B and TABLE_A have a many-to-many relationship with each other.
When I create the entity manager for running the DDL scripts into the DB i´m getting "ORA-02270: no matching unique or primary key for this column-list".

As I told before, the error i´m getting with these mappings is:

The error says that the table PUBLICO_ALVO does not have a primary key or unique constraint for (ID_PUBLICO_ALVO), so you cannot define a foreign key constraint to it. This table was not included in your DDL, how was it created? You need to add a primary key or unique constraint in this table on this field.
If you do not wish to have the unique or foreign key defined you can just ignore the error, it is just a warning.

Connect By with composite Key

6 ASIA JAPAN TOKIO
7 EUROPE
8 EUROPE GERMANY
Altough I have a sequencial primary key, that key os not used to relate to the "master record". The only way I have to know which record depends on which is by using a composite key (in the real table those three columns are numbers, and their combination is unique).
Is there a way to use an hierarquical query on this table?

The way I used was to create a "dummy" ID and Mother ID using both case and concatenating CONTINENT,COUNTRY,CITY fields.
Don't know if there is other cleaner way...

Instead of generating a "dummy" parent_id, you may want to add a real parent_id column to the table. Then it sould be easier to do CONNECT BY queries when you needed to.
However, you can get the output you requested without anything hierarchical:

If the output somehow had to reflect the hierarchical structure then you'd have to do somehting different.
For example, to be sure children were displayed after their parents), add an ORDER BY clause:

Master-Detail query problem with composite key

I have tested a MD form with EMP and DEPT tables and the MD query works okay.
I have created two tables both with two fields EMP_ID and REPORT_DATE as a composite key. The problem I am having with the MD form is that it does not query back the results when I select the QUERY button. I have verified that the join is setup during the creation of the form.

I have recreated the form and the MD query works fine.

Mapping Dimension with a composite primary key in AWM

Hi, I have a dimension with 3 levels in a snowflake scheme. The Primary key (PK) of one of them is a composite pk.
Let's say: table1 (code_t1 (pk), desc_t1), table2 (code_t2 (pk), code_t1 (pk+fk), desc_t2)) and table3 (code_t3 (pk), code_t2 (fk), code_t1 (fk), desc_t3), being table3 the base level table.
I am using AWM 11.2.0.1.0A
My questions are:
1) can I have a level with a composite PK?
2) if yes, how should I do the mappings using AWM? It seems like you only can have one filed for the source column in the Mapping pane.
3) if no, is there any workaround?

I just tried this in AWM and it is clearly buggy in this area, in part because it is trying to change the underlying representation.
If you export the dimension to XML you should find an entry that looks like this for each level

</HierarchyLevelMap>
The 'Query' is the name of the table you are selecting from. For example, your level2 should have
Query="TABLE2"
The 'KeyExpression' is the expression that defines the AW dimension member for that level. For example, your level2 should have
KeyExpression= '(TABLE2.CODE_T2 || TABLE2.CODE_T1)'
The 'JoinCondition' defines how to join the table for a child level to that of its parent. For example, your level3 would ideally look like this
JoinCondition='(TABLE3.CODE_T2 = TABLE2.CODE_T2) AND (TABLE3.CODE_T1 = TABLE2.CODE_T1)'
But in your case it must be something different, probably 'TABLE3.CODE_T2 = (TABLE2.CODE_T2 || TABLE2.CODE_T1)'.
AWM must derive its Parent field from this JoinCondition in some way, and it appears to mess it up when you use concatenated key expressions. The workaround is to hand edit the XML to specify the JoinCondition correctly for your case and recreate the dimension from that XML. I would then avoid editing this particular mapping in AWM since it will mangle it.

First thing to check is System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard tab - make sure "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" is un-checked. Hopefully that still works in Mountain Lion.

How did you get a Lion OSX install disc? They don't exist. Do you mean the gray disks that came with your 2007 MacBook?
If you mean the gray disks, try starting up with the "c" key held down.
What version of OSX is on your MacBook now? Have you tried booting from the Recovery partition?

Anyone having trouble with full screen shortcut key?

For no reason, the shortcut keys for full screen window quit working. They started working after a reboot once but just quit again and restart did not correct this time. Quite annoying, any fix for this?

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

HAVE A MAC G5 WITH V10.4 TIGER OS, I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE LETTER "N" ONLY WHEN I USE CAPS AND SHIFT KEYS DOSE IT TYPE THE LETTER "N". I HAVE CONNECTED A NEW KEYBOARD BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?

You might look at "Keyboard Shortcuts" in the Keyboard and Mouse preference pane and see if somehow the lower case n has been inadvertently assigned to something.
Probably the best solution would be to click the "Restore Defaults" button.
