Troubles With Jam Pack WORLD MUSIC

When I try to install it, it starts fine but half way through the installation an error pops up saying
THERE WERE ERROR INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE
Please try installation again
I've tried 50 times and even copied the file to my HD and tried to install it again and it says the same
so i'm wondering if there is another way to make this work do i have to return this crappy DVD

You may have a problem with your DVD. There may be a corrupt spot on it. My DVD installed no problem.
Mind you, considering that the installer copied to your hard drive without coughing up an error, you may want to try the usual Mac voodoo (repairing permissions, check disk integrity, etc) before trying another DVD.
Has your drive been able to read dual layer DVD's okay?

Getting a file not found error with jam pack instruments

Since Logic Express no longer works with the current Mac OS X versions, I'm trying to get used to using GarageBand again while I save up to buy the full Logic Package. I had purchased all of the jam packs years ago and recently also purchased Main Stage. Now, when I go to use, for example, an instrument from the Orchestral jam pack, I get a message saying "EXS24 instrument “Cellos.exs”: Audio file “VC-L_legato_f_C2.wav” not found!" with the option to continue or search again. Clicking "search again" always ends up with the same message. This is driving me nuts! Pretty ****** off right now that I can't use what I paid money for. Isn't this stuff supposed to "just work"? Or did that die with Steve Jobs?

same Problem: Working with OS X 10.6.8 on a MacBookPro Santa Rosa and Logic Pro: Its not possible to use the cello.exs 'cos missing audio file “VC-L_legato_f_C2.wav”, same problem with Basses.exs (missing KB-L_legato_f_A#1.wav) and the Piano. All this broken Instruments are from the Jam pack Orchestra Library.

Trouble installing Jam Pack #1 (the original)?

Recently doing a migration from a PPC to a Mac Pro.
Anyway, I was trying to reinstall Jam Pack 1 (the original Jam Pack) to use with Logic Pro. I was also planning on using it in Garageband.
When I tried to install, I kept getting the error "Installation cannot continue until the GarageBand application is installed." But it was installed.
Did a bit of digging. Found this:

Which led me to examine my directory structure in the Applications Folder. Turns out I had moved Garageband into a subfolder and the installer wasn't able to find it. I just moved it back to its normal spot and the installer was happy.

Problem with Jam Pack 4: Symphony installation

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone could possibly help me with this problem I have.
I just bought a Intel duo core Mac mini and I wanted to install my Jam Pack 4 onto Garageband. During the installation, there is no problem. It finishes and says the installation was successful. But when I open Garageband none of the stuff from Jam Pack 4 is accessible. Anyone have any idea what might be wrong? Thanks!

The only thought that comes to mind right away is that one of the display filters is active. Let's take the loops. At the top of the loop browser there is a kind of hidden popup menu, there are a pair of arrows, one up and one down. Click it and make sure "Show All" is selected.

GarageBand 08 with Jam pack 1: unable to install update 1.0.1

I have reinstalled my iMac with Leopard back in november. I recently reinstalled my GB JP 1 and the software update is telling me I should install JP 1 update 1.0.1. But each time I try, it tells me that it cannot install the update, because it cannot write files in "/".
Any idea what's wrong with this?

Hi, I have just ordered from Ebay Jam Pack 2 well as two AMG apple loops collections. What I need to know is since I have little space on the Hard Disk is there a way to choose which bits of the Jam Pack I install say if I don't want anymore guitar loops or something. And if I can't do it that way is there a way to get rid of loops when I've added them? I also have quite a few free loops I wouldn't mind getting rid of.

PS. I also have another question, coming from using PCs for audio the Mac confuses me some what. If I was to replace an intergrated soundcard on the PC with something like one of the M-Audio external cards this would improve the PCs power for VST stuff is the same true with a Mac with Core Audio would an external card cause Garageband/Logic to run better?

No, you can't install loops selectively. But you can always trash the ones you don't want or move them to an external drive.
You should then trash the Loops Index folder and let GB re-index your loops to avoid "orphans".

PLEASE help with Jam Packs

My son has a powerbook G4. He has been using Garage Band and Jam Packs for about a year. His HD failed and I was able to recover all the files. Is there a way to get the Jam Packs from what I recovered? We can not find the original disks at this point but have everything that was on the failed HD.

They might be in several places. Look in
HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops
and in
(User)/Library/Audio/Apple Loops
Other candidates are the Application Support/GarageBand folders in both of the Library folders.

HELP ME PLEASE - TROUBLES WITH BB APP WORLD AND CANNOT INSTALL APPLICATIONS

I've been trying all day to try and download apps from my desktop to my BB Curve 8520. i was trying to download dexrex... so i select to download it, i get redirected to a page that asks me for my email and PW, I provide the info and am redirected to another page "blackberry app world setup"
step 1 states "You have installed the BlackBerry App World Browser Plug-in on this computer."
Step 2 asks for me to connect my smartphone and select my device. I select the only PIN available that comes up. I am prompted for a Password and provide it.
Step 3 states the following... "you have a version of blackberry app world that enables account creation"
I click onto Next on the bottom left - and terms and conditions come up, i select "i agree"
then this comes up from paypal....
"Our records indicate that you have already paid for items in App World with a PayPal account. To transfer your paid items to your My World account and connect your PayPal account to your My World account, please click the button below to be taken to the PayPal site to validate your credentials."
the only thing to click on really is the paypal ... and i get redirected to the blackberry ID sign in page and repeat all the same steps as above.

I've gone through the exact same process as you. Frustrating!!
It's infuriating to get an error message that says "Blackberry App World cannot be downloaded from Blackberry App World."
And it's downright SCARY to get the following message when you've NEVER used PayPal in your life:
"Our records indicate that you have already paid for items in App World with a PayPal account. To transfer your paid items to your My World account and connect your PayPal account to your My World account, please click the button below to be taken to the PayPal site to validate your credentials."
These are problems that just shouldn't be happening. Don't tell me I have a PayPal account when I do not.
At this point I don't see a way to proceed without creating a PayPal account... is it the case that Blackberry App World is unusable without a PayPal Account?
If there is a way to proceed without a PayPal account I would love to know what that is.
If there is not, then why don't you just say, "You must create a PayPal Account to use BlackBerry App World"?

Trouble with soundtrack entries in music library

I am having difficulty with soundtrack files that are present in my music library. Specifically, these are songs that I have purchased through the iTunes store. Most of these files list "Various Artists" as the album artist tag in the sorting info. I will delete this and usually leave it blank so that the file merges and sorts within the specific band or artist name, and fall in the correct order of release date. iTunes keeps changing it back to "Various Artists" any time i close the program and reopen it. It's a minor annoyance really, but this never used to happen so I was curious if there was a way to fix it/prevent it from happening.
I've attached 3 pics: The first is how I want it to be in that it shows the album in the right order in my library, and how i adjust the sorting fields to make it so.
The next photos show how iTunes puts it back after I change it. Again this happens any time I close iTunes and reopen it.
As you can see not only does it add the name of the artist again under the song title but it also moves the whole thing to the bottom of that artists order. No matter when the soundtrack was released. This happens on quite a few files in my library and generally I just keep changing it back until I close iTunes again.
Any thoughts?

Trouble with Jam/CMake won't generate install target (bullet physics)

I am attempting to build the bullet physics engine so that it creates shared libraries of it's functionality, instead of static ones. The problem is that I have absolutely no luck when it comes to building this with PKGBUILD, even though the bullet project ships with both Jam and CMake.
1: By using Jam, I am not able to tell the build system that I want to create shared libraries. I just cannot find a way to do that (I googled ALOT). PKGBUILD works fine, and packages everything up nicely, but the libraries are static.
2: By using CMake, I am able to build shared libraries, but CMake does not generate a 'make install' target, so the pacman package remains empty, as nothing is copied to the pkg/ folder.

I am modifying the correct httpd.conf file on the server, it just doesn't seem to work. - If I put the rewrite rules in the <Directory /> the rewrite works but it adds /Library/WebServer/Documents to the URL.
I also tried putting the rewrite rules in <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> but that did not work either.
mod_rewrite is enabled and running on the server.
I will post the rewrite rules again in the code brackets. Sorry for the long post. - If some one can try them out on their Leopard Server to see if they can get them to work, it would be much appreciated. Again, these work on my Leopard Client but I can't get them to work on Server.

Trouble with Burning and dragging music to playlist

Hello, I have recently downloaded the new version of ITUNES and I am having some problems. One is I can't burn cd's. It's not that it wont let me, it's that the option doesn't exist. I've searched everywhere throughout Itunes, and cannot find out how. My other problem is I also can't make playlist. In the other version, I would simple drag the songs I wanted to the desired location. Now I can't drag them anywhere! Please help me.

Check the songs you want to burn from the playlist. Delete any songs by highlighting the song and then press
"shift-delete". Put in your new cd-r disc. Then look on the right bottom of the screen and there should be burn cd button. Push it!

Trouble with Family Pack

SL installed fine on the first computer. On the second, the DVD won't even load. The machine tries to read the disk, but then ejects it. Any ideas?

It's an early 08 white Macbook. I think it might actually be the DVD drive. Like the other commenter, my wife never uses it, so it could have gotten messed up a while back without our knowing. It's spitting out other DVD's too. I can't believe I didn't try that before posting! Thank goodness for AppleCare.

LE 8 doesn't see all of my installed Jam Packs

Just setting up a new mac. I installed all the Jam Packs. After that I brought up Garageband and when I click on "Loops" it show the following list. I did notice that when Garage Band came up, it indicated that it was searching for Jam Packs...

I then installed Logic Express 8. I launched it and when I click on "Loops", I'm missing 2 of the Jam Packs. I only see:

Can I drag the missing Jam Packs on to Logic? I don't want to make copies, just want them to be seen there.

One more observation. I tried dragging just one file over from the Orchestra folder (Academy Cello 01). I then searched for it and found it. I then searched for "Academy Viola 01", but it didn't find it. I ended up dragging over the set of 5 Academy sounds and now if I search for just "Academy" to all show up in the search results. The only bad thing is I don't actually see the "Symphony Orchestra" pack in the list. I guess I can live with that, but it would be nice to see them all there, just so I know which ones I have. Dumb, I know...

Loading Jam Packs on Macbook Air without CD drive

Since my Macbook Air (with Lion) doesn't have a cd drive, I recreated the Jam Pack directories in my Macbook Air exactly as they appear on my iMac (with Lion), and copied and pasted the Jam Pack folders/files from my iMac to my MacBook Air using an external hard drive to do the transfer. Here is where I put the Jam Pack folders/files on my MacBook Air:
Jam Pack - 4 Symphony Orchestra and Jam Pack World Music:
Library>Audio>Apple Loops>Apple> (for the Jam Pack sounds)
Library>Audio>>Apple Loops Index> (for the Index files)
Jam Packs 2 and 3:
Library>Application Support>Garage Band>Apple Loops (for the Jam Pack sounds)
Library>Application Support>Garage Band>Apple Loops Index (for the Index files)
However, when I fire up Garage Band, it still doesn't see the Jam Packs. Can anyone tell me why, and what I might do about it?

You also do need the Instruments Library; otherwise the instruments to play the loops will be missing:
The Instruments Library is located in
/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/
Ssee what else from /Library/Application Support/GarageBand you may need, also from the corresponding files in your user library.
To reindex your loops properly, reveal the Library>Application Support>Garage Band>Apple Loops files in the Finder, launch GarageBand, and drag the loops into your GarageBand Window, directly onto the Lopp Browser. Do that for all Loop Folders in your User Library.

I installed logic studio 9 but it says error when i install the jam pack content

The apple site says that logic 9 comes with six jam packs, but I only see 2 in the tab entitled "library." These are Jam Pack Voices and Jam Pack World Music and when I only put any of the jam pack Content Cd's (that come with logic studio) and click on the cd all it has on it is a text edit file. Is it a corrupted cd? I have seen other posts about it but no definite solution. any possible ideas? Thank You!

Something is not quite right here:
I have the original Studio 2 disks here, and the installer runs fine under OSX.8.3. It will install Logic Pro 9.0.0, which can then be updated by downloading the 9.1.7 or 9.1.8 updater from Apple Downloads.
On your system, the installer refuses to run, or does the install proceed, but you are unable to update Logic so that it will work on Mountain Lion?
