Trust this PC, HOW?

It has been several days and I still cannot access many features of my desktop and am forced to use my laptop with Windows 7 .What is the reason for the "trust this PC" issue? I have done everything I can to get Widows 8 up and running. I still cannot
get onto many websites I use often. My telephone number has changed since I last updated my Microsoft account. I followed the instructions to the letter. I deleted my security information six times so far. I listed my other email accounts and even put my phone
number as instructed. There are many programs I cannot use because I cannot get online or sync my information. I prefer Google Chrome but cannot use it. What now? I am seriously considering uninstalling Windows 8. I have discussed this with others having the
same issues so I know my problem is not a below average IQ.
Mammanannystory

I am having the same problem with my Windows 8 PC. The answer above simply tells me how to get back to the wall that I'm already banging my head against. I know how to get to the Trust This PC setting and how to log into the website to initiate the
process. The problem is the broken confirmation process.
I too had to update my information on my Microsoft account because I hadn't updated it in almost 10 years. I added my current information, including my new Cell phone information - which finally appears on the Confirmation screen when I log in to initiate
the Trust process.
The page appears, says "Confirm (XXX) XXX-XXXX" and shows the correct number for my cell, and below it says "To help us make sure this is you, enter the security code we sent to your phone."    Seriously? 'To help us make sure this is you'
If it wasn't me, then at this point whoever is looking at this message has already entered my account password and has access to change all of my information anyway, it seems a little pointless to me to require this useless extra code confirmation to keep
them from syncing automatically what they already have access to with the password they would have already had to have entered to get here in the first place.
But, I digress... Regardless that the correct phone number is listed, I NEVER receive any type of notification to my phone. No email, call, or text message. So, obviously I then try selecting the option for "I didn't get the code" which only takes me to
another screen that gives me 3 options which are all 10-year old contact options for phone and email numbers and addresses that are no longer valid. Utterly useless option. Why would they not put an option to resend the message to the default number? And while
they're at it, give me the option to specify whether to send it via SMS, carrier email, or simply to call the number??
I'm sorry for the tone of this message, I am just growing so tired of these needlessly complex security hurtles that seem to be getting more and more ridiculous with each new version of Windows. I can see where such things may be useful in some corporate
environments - but I'd be willing to bet that only 1% of Windows users outside of Microsoft employees themselves actually make use of, or even care about, them. The vast majority of users I would guess are more likely to see it the way I do, as frustrating, irritating,
bothersome, or infuriating, depending on how much time is wasted on trying to figure it out or resolve it.
Is there no other way to obtain this ridiculous code other than the automated attempt made by the system to send it when I log in?

Most likely, you have a web plugin that depends on the Java runtime distributed by Apple, such as the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.

I'm trying to switch my iTunes library from my work ( Lenovo laptop ) to my new personal MacBook Pro.  My library is accessible from my iPhone and iPad so I decided to plug my iPhone into my MacBook Pro but by mistake I clicked "don't trust this computer" when I got the popup on my iPhone ... Anyone know how to revert that ?
and at the same time .. anyone can give me a good tip to easily switch my library from my Lenovo Laptop to my MacBook ? I want to de-install itunes on my work computer ( the Lenovo )
    Thank you

    Hi Rebekah...
This problem seemed to have worked itself out... Somewhere amongst these solutions...
    1. Reinstall iTunes
    2. Restart computer
    3. Restart iDevice
It didn't at first, and I thought to myself... "Oh great, another problem which Apple doesn't acknowledge as existing", but don't worry. Give it a couple of restarts, and if all else fails... Create a new Windows Logon and try from there.
It just happens I was in the middle of reformatting my PC and resinstalling Windows 7, so it wasn't so much an issue when I wiped as it worked when I tried it on a fresh system.
    Hope something helps...

  • Flickr doesn't work in this version - How can I Downgrade to a version that flikr works?

Many of the buttons on the Site Flickr don't work in this version - How do is Downgrade Firefox to an earlier version so I can use flickr. -
The buttons work fine with the same account on other browsers. They worked fine in the earlier version. I trashed Firefox and reinstalled it - I installed Firefox 4.0 beta - both had no effect.
The buttons that don't work are the "action" buttons - the "share" button - the left and right arrow buttons on either side of the row of 5 preview pictures.
I am running Firefox on a mac powerbook G4 - lots of memory,

hello, although it is meant mainly for enterprise use, for the moment you could still use the firefox 17esr release which will receive security updates for another one or two months: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all.html (scroll down into the second part of the page)

Please help: It says 'Do you trust this computer' I press 'Trust' each time?! It doesn't connect to my laptop. Why?? I have tryed resetting all settings but no. Restarting it but no.

Hmm.. Maybe you should authorize your pc in itunes.
Here is how to do that:
    Authorize Your Computer in iTunes
    1. Download the latest version of iTunes that's appropriate for your computer from theiTunes website. Try to avoid signing up for Apple's newsletter.
    2. Click the Store menu, and then select Authorize This Computer.
    3. A window will prompt you for your Apple ID and password. Fill in the appropriate information, and then click Authorize.
    4. After your submission, your computer will be authorized for playback, and a dialog box will indicate how many computers you have currently authorized to access your Apple account. If you have reached your limit, it's time to deauthorize another machine.

  • IPhone with IOS "Trust this computer" keeps popping up

I have upgraded to ios 7 on my iphone, but when I now connect my phone to my car (ipod connectivity) it pops up with the "Trust this computer" box! but disappears quickly and then keeps popping up and disappearing.  I don't even have time to click TRUST!!!!
After a couple of tries the car says there was an error and stops trying.  What the **** is going on!
If no one knows, maybe you can tell me how to downgrade/restore to ios 7 as without this connectivity I can't listen to my music in the car?

I finally fixed it!  Don't know really how but here goes what I did.
You all agreed that before IOS7, by simply plug usb cable between PC and iphone that was it?!
Updated to IOS7, liked it a little, noticed slowness, but was fairly acceptable. My problem started when I was not able to sync my outlook calendar, contacts, etc. to my phone then I freaked out, because kept having this "do you trust this computer again and again when I clicked Trust.... got me crazy.
Someone told me to use iCloud. Did, but I can check my Iphone contacts on a website! not what I was looking for. Then I downloaded ICloud for windows, so I can sync (another procedure) to my outlook. Ran it, restarted, found that my wlan card was disabled, fixed it, restarted (anxious), when back, checked some changes made in outlook, more folders and buttons, but it seemed to work.
I plugged the usb cable and iphone to my pc and Viola! they synchonized!! via usb cable!!
was it the cable? the icloud installation? the rebooting? don't really know, but it works now...
I was this close to return to IOS6 by doing all those creepy steps, but it is ok now...
Please let  know if it work for you guys!!
    cheers!
    Manny

  • "Trust This Computer?"

I have a brand new iPhone 6 and brand new iPad Air 2. EVERY time I plug them into my MBP, I get a message asking me:
"Trust this computer? Your settings and data will be accessible from this computer when connected."
I then hit "Trust", but the next time I plug either one in, I get the message again. I'm using Apple cables. It doesn't matter whether I plug them into my USB hub or directly into the MBP. The message comes up every time.
Why is it doing this and how do I make it stop?

As mentioned above, this problem has somehow been eradicated for me. I'm not sure exactly what fixed the issue for me, but I can say I did the following things - in this exact order - after which the issue was no more:
    1) Installed the latest version of iTunes (11.1).
    2) Ran a number of system maintenance tasks, for which I use the application "OnyX". In particular, I verified "S.M.A.R.T status" and "structure of volume", then verify/repair "System Permissions", then ran daily, weekly, and monthly "Scripts", then ran a rebuild of "LaunchServices", then ran a number of "Cleaning" tasks (including all "System, User, and Misc." tasks).
    3) Restarted my iPhone, my iPad, and the computer used to sync these devices (my iMac).
I'm not sure if one (or any) of these things rectified the problem for me, but I'm sure delighted it's been rectified.
    Hope this helps.

Hello, I have a iphone4s on IOS7 and when i connect to my Notebook it says" trust this PC"and i click yes and it doesn't connect i can hear Windows connect to the phone then when i hit trust it connects and disconnects me. When i look at my PC control panel it says "external driver" so i know my wire isn't damaged.  I don't know why apple added such bad software thats un-needed i have seen lots of posts just like this but i dont want to completely restore my iphone and i have Itunes 11.3 i have removed and installed 2 times now. If anyone can help that would be great

    Hello there Ali2627,
It sounds like your phone is not staying connected after you tap to Trust the Computer so you cannot use it with your computer. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article to help resolve the issue:
    iTunes: Resolve USB-related alerts
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5254?viewlocale=en_US
See if the cable connection at the device or computer has come loose or unplugged.
Unplug the cable you're using to connect your iOS device from the USB port on your computer, and then reconnect it. Then unplug it from your iOS device, and reconnect it.
Remove any third-party battery packs or cases from the device and ensure that the USB cable is connected directly to the port on the device.
If your Lightning or 30-pin cable is connected to a keyboard, display or USB hub, try plugging it directly into a USB port on the computer instead.
Close any virtualization apps (such as Parallels or VMWare).
These apps may interfere with your computer's ability to communicate over USB if they aren't properly configured, or up to date. If this resolves the issue, contact the developer of the app to see if an update is available.
    Restart your computer.
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
If you're using an accessory or third-party cable to connect your device, try using an Apple cable with the device instead.
Update to the latest version of iTunes if you haven't already.
Disconnect other USB devices from your computer, except for your keyboard and mouse. Then, reconnect your iOS device. If the issue is resolved, reconnect the other USB devices one at a time. Make sure your iOS device is still recognized by the computer after adding back each device.
If one of these steps resolves the issue, but it comes back later, make sure you haven't changed how the device is connected. For example, check to see if you plugged the device into a specific accessory, or used a specific cable that reintroduced the issue.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Keep getting "Trust this computer?," comp. doesn't recognize photos

Until yesterday, when I plugged my iPhone 5C (ios8.02)  into my regular computer, the computer would tell me how many new photos I had, ask what folder I wanted to put them in, etc.
Now, I get an error message saying that it doesn't see any photos on the device (even though they do show up in iCloud Photos on the Photo Stream, so they're there).     At the same time, I now get a Trust This Computer? message on the phone every time I plug it in.  I wonder if the picture error message goes up because I didn't click on Trust yet -- but I can't get to it before the error message comes up!
I did some looking around at earlier suggestions to many people with similar problems,  and I noticed by searching my computer from Control Panel that my phone drivers were updated yesterday -- not by me, I don't think!    So I think that must be what's causing the problem suddenly.   So I went to Hardware / Drivers -- and the button to Update Drivers is grayed out.
So can anyone help me (a) turn off the Do You Trust pop-up for my regular computer  , and (b) know how I can get the computer once again to accept the photos on my phone?
    Thanks!
    Pat

  • Trust this Computer - iPad/iMac Message Keeps Popping Up - HELP???

I see plenty of reported issueson this subject, but none that fix my problem.
iMac has latest OSX and iTunes versions, iPad is updated to iOS 7.1.  I even tried reinsatalling OSX (thought I'd got away from reinstalls when I dropped Windows!!!).
But I still get bing, bing, bing, bing, bing ... and the "Trust this Computer" pop-up every second until I unplug the (original Apple) USB cord
Any suggestions how to get around this annoying problem - which may have started after iOS 7.1 upgrade.

    Hello there TedJ,
It sounds like your phone keeps connecting and disconnecting over and over until you unplug your iPhone from the computer. I recommend the troubleshooting in the following article named:
iOS: Troubleshooting USB-related alerts when syncing
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5254?viewlocale=en_US
Try the following steps to check the connection between your device or computer. You might need to do only one of these steps to resolve the issue, so test your connection after each step.
See if the cable connection at the device or computer has come loose or unplugged.
Unplug the cable you're using to connect your iOS device from the USB port on your computer, and then reconnect it. Then unplug it from your iOS device, and reconnect it.

These apps may interfere with your computer's ability to communicate over USB if they aren't properly configured, or up to date. If this resolves the issue, contact the developer of the app to see if an update is available.

If you're using an accessory or third-party cable to connect your device, try using an Apple cable with the device instead.
Update to the latest version of iTunes if you have not already.
