Trying to confiq cisco bridge WET200. connected to macbook ethernet port. entered 192.168.1.226 for config util. Times out.

I am trying to configure (due to WEP code on my wireless network) Cisco bridge WET200 for use in my home theater. To configure, I connected to ethernet port of macbook OS 10.6.8. Entered IP address 192.168.1.226 for config utility but it times out. Cisco says I need either IE or firefox. Downloaded firefox but still fails. Has anyone had experience with this?

Found that if I clean up DNS for my domain with PTR and A then everything started working properly after a rebuild.

  • Airport utility is not working on Windows. I can configure Airport Expresses with the Macbook but multiple computers with Windows and the latest Airport Utility time out after trying to connect to the router for setup.

I have been trying to setup Airpot Expresses (both old and new models) for a while now with the Airpot Utility 5.6.1 for Windows without any luck. I have tried this on multiple windows machines, factory reseted the devices if I needed to, but I have not had any success since this software arrived. I see the routers on the Airport Utility UI, I click on it then try to connect to set it up. At this point, it gets stuck with a long progress bar trying to connect to the device without any success. I also have a Macbook Pro, and this device & software has had no trouble setting up the routers. The problem is, we are shipping these small routers out to customers who use Windows machines and it is vital that the user can modify the settings using Airpot Utility. I am at a loss for what to do and if we can't find any solutions, we are going to move on to a different company for the routers we ship out.

Thanks a lot i followed the instructions for safe mode (i found out that i was pressing the C button after restarting) i did whats written there but the repair couldn't be performed so in addition i needed to re-formate the HD so i erased the volume and then repaired the disk--> quite disk utilities --> start the installation from the installation DVD.
    Thanks really appreciating your help

What do you mean it did not work!  What were the results of the diagnostic tests?
Have you contacted your ISP to determine if the problem is on their end?
Have you changed your router channel?  Sometimes this resolves wireless problems.

  • Network Configuration Window Freezes When USB NDIS Internet Connection Sharing and Ethernet Port Are Used Simultaneously

    Current Setup:
Asrock Extreme 4 Z77 mobo with built-in Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet.  Windows 8 Pro. Intel i5-3570k (using onboard Intel 4000 HD Graphics).  RAID0- 2 OCZ Vertex 4's.
I will refer to this setup as my tower.
The Ethernet port works fine by itself.  When I use wired tethering with my Android phone (Droid 4 running on 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich), it works fine when nothing is connected into the Ethernet port in the mobo.
The issue arises when I try to connect both simultaneously.  The network configuration window in windows basically freezes and I cannot really navigate it without a ~60 second delay at best.
I would like to be able to accept the internet from my Android via a USB tether and either bridge the connection or use the internet connection sharing service to route traffic through the unused Ethernet port on the mobo (either to another computer/xbox
or more desirably a switch/router to spread to the entire home network).  I have extensively researched the issue of Windows 8 become slow and unresponsive when I attempt to do this and I have not found anyone with the exact problem.  I am able to
do both the MAC bridge miniport (bridge 2 connections) and Internet Connection Sharing though a Windows Vista (home premium) Laptop I have. The difference between the laptop and the tower I am try to do this on is the laptop has a WIFI and Ethernet connection
while the tower only has the on-board Ethernet.
Do I have all the necessary equipment to accomplish this, or do I need to buy a PCIe WIFI card?  If so could I get away with just getting a USB WIFI dongle?
Any help would be very appreciated.

I had the same problem and came here by searching.
Per Rosengren's method solved the problem, but he didn't say how to do it, so I'll try to explain step-by-step for anyone that may venture here.
Open Device Manager (right click on Computer > Manage > on the left side, under System Tools choose Device Manager)
Choose the problematic device in Network Adapters (for me it's called HTC Remote NDIS based device)
Right click on it and choose Update Driver Software...
Click Browse my computer for driver software
Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers
Uncheck the box Show compatible hardware
For the manufacturer, choose Microsoft Corporation
Now you will have two options:
    - Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device
    - Remote NDIS Compatible Device
I chose the second one and it solved the problem, but if it doesn't work you could try the other one. In my case, the driver that was being used was neither of these, but a special driver from Android SDK ADT bundle.
Pick one and click Next. If a dialog comes up, confirm by clicking Yes.
Wait a few seconds for the connection to restart. If it doesn't work, try disabling and reenabling USB tethering on the phone, or reconnect the USB cable.
I should also note that I'm using a custom Android ROM on HTC Wildfire S (unofficial Cyanogenmod). If you have a stock ROM with HTC Sense, maybe this method may not work and you'll need a proprietary HTC driver.

  • Accessing Macs connected to the ethernet ports on an Airport

I can't access with Apple Remote Desktop or screen share to a computer (Mac Mini 10.4.11) connected to the ethernet port on my Airport (Time Capsule).
The device gets an ip address in the same subnet as everyone else on the network (everyone else is wireless). Apple Remote Desktop is check off in the Sharing system preference (with access privileges for the admin account). I can ping the IP address of that computer from other computers on the network. Not sure what I'm missing.
The goal is to use the Mac as an iTunes server for the the AppleTV.
Any ideas of what I'm missing. Thanks
    Karl

This is possible, but not with Bonjour or any other fixes.  It is just a printer set up based on the Port name of the Airport, 10.0.1.1.
I found the answer on YouTube, Title: Windows Printing For Apple AirPort Extreme without Bonjour Wireless wifi.

  • Issue with cisco ONS 15310. Slot with Ethernet ports, designed for bridging.

Hi, guys. I’ve got an issue with cisco ONS 15310 sdh optical network. I’ve got a special slot with Ethernet ports, designed for bridging. Assume, we’ve got to multiplexers, named A and B with ports A0 and B0 respectively. The ios console of these slots says, the configuration is as follows:
no ip address set on these ports
    Ports are administratively up
    Auto mdix
Bridge groups are the same on these ports.
    Dot1q tunnel.
I’m trying to monitor a device with an ip-address connected to port B0. It answers ping if I connect the notebook directly to a device. But if I connect the notebook to port A0 and ping the device pluged in port B0 through the optical network, it doesn’t answer. I tried connections with straight and cross cable.
Guys, who set the network said, it should work as a point to point bridge with no extra configuration. But it doesn’t. I used wireshark sniffer to lookup what’s happening on port A0. All I see is cdp-s from port A0 and self-announcements of the notebook.
Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

  • Bridge between airport card and ethernet port

My son wants to access the internet through the ethernet port to connect his xbox 360. My airport extreme base station is upstairs and my powermac g5 is in the basement and connects to the internet through the airport network (airport extreme card to base station). One of his friends says he can configure a bridge between his wireless card and his ethernet port on his windows computer and was trying to do it on my mac. Can a bridge be configured between the airport extreme card and the ethernet port on the g5 which will allow an ethernet device to connect to the internet? Any advice will greatly appreciated. Thank you.
    Larry

I have used an external ethernet bridge in the past. What I am wondering is: How can the airport card be configured to create a bridge to the ethernet port on the computer, so the game console could be connected to the back of the g5 with an ethernet cable and then connected to the tv with a/v cables. Do I have to use some external device to provide an internet connection to the game console or is there some way to share the connection from the airport card to the ethernet port?

  • Can't connect to Internet and 192.168.1 network at the same time

I have been having an issue with my MacBook's networking for the past 4 months. Here are the specifics:
*My MacBook is connected to the Internet via a linux router, with an address in the 192.168.1.x address space. DNS server is an openDns server, 208.67.222.222
*My MacBook is assigned an IP Address manually in the 192.168.1.x namespace
*I have a printer manually assigned an address in the 192.168.1.x namespace
    Problem:
    * I can only connect to my printer if I leave my DNS server entry blank under my Airport TCP/IP configuration
    * I can only connect to the Internet when my DNS server entry to set to the openDNS server entry.
    Question:
Is there any way I can connect to both my local network printer and the Internet at the same time? I have set up two locations that I can switch between, but I would prefer to be able to access both networks at once.

I tried turning AppleTalk on, but no luck.
It seems that the problem is related to basic TCP/IP connectivity. For example, when my DNS server is set to blank, I get a fine response from the command "ping 192.168.1.253". However, when my DNS is set to one of the openDNS servers, I get this error:
    PING 192.168.1.253 (192.168.1.253): 56 data bytes
ping: sendto: No route to host
    ping: sendto: Host is down

  • Wrt54g - no wired connection - cannot find ethernet port upon setup, cannot get wired connection

I've had my wrt54g router for a little over 1 year.  I had to get support to set up the router initially b/c it could not find the ethernet port when I tried to set it up initially.  I am past that date and recently had to move the router and the PC.  When I tried to redo the setup same issue - i upgraded the firmware and same issue.  If i uplug the router and plug the cable directly from the cable modem into my pc, everything works well, but when i try to set up a wireless connection, the wired connection goes down, but the wireless connection works and i cannot get the wired connection back up.  i am a novice with the device, so any detailed help in trouble shooting the problem and getting me back up on both a wired and wireless basis would be appreciated.

As you upgraded the router's firmware,I would suggest you to reset the router for 30 seconds and configure the router from the scratch.Make sure that the Modem is connected to the router on the internet port and the computer to the router on the ethernet port.
Also check the ip address you are getting on the computer hardwired to the router...Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt...A black box will appear(Command Prompt)...In the Command Prompt window type ipconfig and press 'Enter'...Look for Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection IP Address , Subnet Mask and Default Gateway...
IP Address should be 192.168.1.x, Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1 (assuming your router is 192.168.1.1)...If you get the above mentioned IP Address, Subnet and Gateway Address then you should ping the Gateway, type ping 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...If it gives you request timed out then disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer...
If you get 4 replies then, try to open the setup page..

  • Connecting to 192.168.1.1 for checking router settings online brings non-English setup?

Bought a new WRT54G vers 6 router to replace a version 3 that died on us recently, and we have had many issues with SBC Global DSL connectivity, but when I go to the 192.168.1.1 site, it isn't in English, but in Italian or Spanish..
I can guess on some issues, but I never had a choice to pick what language this router page setup area would be in. Any ideas?
I could use some help here.

You need to download the correct firmware and upgrade or use tftp.exe.

  • IPhone 5 after the Verizon carrier update shows connected to LTE but data is not sending or receiving for periods of time

After I updated the carrier settings on my iPhone 5 with Verizon I've noticed that my phone shows that its connected to LTE with 4 or 5 bars showing but quite often no data is actually transmitting. When one of these periods happen I can't connect to any sites on Safari and all of my text messages trying to send over iMessage fail to send out. If I wait a few minutes it will start sending and receiving again. I've already tried to reset my network settings as well as restart my phone numerous times. I'm not sure if its related to this data connectivity issues or not but my battery seems to be draining quite fast compared even to my 2 year old iPhone 4.

I just switched to Verizon and seem to be having similar issues. I think Verizon is having more issues even after the update...now they won't be reading your wifi as billable data but that's because we can't even use it! I have to restart my phone 1-3 times per day to get LTE to work again! Seems to be whenever it goes from 3G to LTE or after I've placed a call for the most part... Working on contacting VZW tonight..this is BS.

  • Can firewire peripheral (ex hard drive) connect to macbook usb port?

i have a new macbook and an old external hard drive.  the hd is firewire only and the mac is usb only.  how can i get data off hard drive and onto mac?

Because Firewire and USB are different protocols you can't just use a cable with firewire on one end and usb on the other.  You can get a break-out box that converts data between firewire and usb, but they are expensive and you'll only use it this once.
If you have another Mac or PC with firewire then connect the hard drive to that machine and set up file sharing between the 2 machines and copy across the network, or use target disk mode if it's a Mac.
If this isn't possible the next easiest thing to do is to remove the hard drive from the chassis, have a look at what type connector is on the hard drive (if it's an old hard drive it will probably be IDE) and go out and buy a simple IDE to USB hard drive enclosure, fit the hard drive, then you will be able to access the data.
You can pick up a chassis for under £5 nowadays, so it's a cheap solution as well!
