Trying to download lightroom 4 trial, download wont start?

I am trying to download the trial version of Lightroom 4. I hit the download now button, and nothing at all happens.
My computer flags up a "Show safe content" prompt, which I click and have not clicked as well, no difference no matter what I press......running IE and Windows 7.
WHat am i doing wrong
PLAIN LANGUAGE ANSWERS PLEASE cause I am not too computer literate.......

  • Lightroom trial download problem ?

    Any thoughts please ? I tried downloading a trial of Lightroom. After 8 hours it started the download and then an error message saying can't be done and system disconnected, I am now getting emails giving suggestions on how to get the best out of the trial. So the system assumes I have downloaded the trial. So now I have no trial and I assume if I try again it will say sorry, you've already got it. How do I get this resolved ?

  • Lightroom 2.0 wont start

    I am having trouble getting LR 2.0 to start on my PC. After downloading and installing it and then attempting to run it, it wont start. In the Windows Task Manager under the Processes tab "lightroom.exe" shows up but it never actually starts.
    What I've tried so far to fix the problem.
    I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it 3 times.
    I've run Registry Mechanic to clean up my Registry.
    I've disabled my Antivirus program during the download and install process.
    I'm on a PC
    4 gigs of RAM
    2.67 Ghz processor
    512 Video Card
    My system runs CS3 and LR 1.4.1 just fine.

    Thanks to Lee Jay (a REALLY big thanks) for this tip as I have already blown about 8 hours on this problem and was faced with a re-build of some sort if I couldn't resolve it.
    Some additional information for others .... I experienced exactly the same thing as Steve; I spoke with Adobe 3 times and escalated to a more senior tech. Their recommendation was to try running LR2 from a new, Admin account. This worked - but was a hopeless suggestion as I have a 'rich' environment established under my existing Admin account and migrating that was going to be a horror show. Also, who wants 2 Admin accounts .... and on ... and on.... I did try running LR 2 from my normal Admin account with the new account's creditionals (you can set that up in a shortcut) but that was problematic as all sorts of small things did not reference properly; Show in Explorer did NOT work; Edit in Cs3 had problems ... etc When LR would invoke Firefox for HELP - I had no bookmarks as FireFox would run in the new account's space, etc.
    Then I found Lee's suggestion and tried it. However, deleting the prefs file did NOT solve it ... same problem. However, I COPIED the preferences file from the new account, where it did work, to my regular account in the locations specified and, voila, I am running.
    So, my tip would be ... create the new admin account; run LR2 and establish the preferences; quit the program in both accounts; then copy the prefs from the new acct over to the Preferences folder in your original account. These are in Documents and Settings/.....

  • Adobe Application Manager crashes everytime I try to download Lightroom trial

    I am using a Macbook air and I am trying to download the free trial of lightroom on this mac but everytime the download loads the adobe application manager crashes and ends the download. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

    Application Manager or the CC desktop app? Sign out of the Creative Cloud desktop app, restart your computer and sign in again. Don't start any other programs. If that fails, sign out and uninstall the Creative Cloud app. Run the CC Cleaner tool. Re-install CC app and sign in.

    You downloaded the install, security software disabled, and saved it to disk?
    Pick up from there.
    We have to back track to find the answer so some history/specs about your computer would help.

    It works fine please try a different web browser.  It is likely your security settings, installed add-ons, or toolbar is causing your difficulties.

    I have 30 day trial account for CC. CC desktop is installed. Windows 7 64bit OS. Lightroom does not appear in the apps list of CC desktop. So I go to software download page, click Lightroom, download page appears with Download Now button.     Just installed Lightroom 5.5 from the CC Aplication on my Mac running OSX 10.9.3 , And Lightroom will not open, all i get is the typical LR loading graphic though nothing is happening.... have tried uninstalling and re downloading and re installing. Nothing.. have some image to complete for client in the morning and really could use some help please Anyone with similar issues ?

    Are you seeing this exception when you are running the installer, or does the installer seem to run ok, but when you run LR for the first time, it gets this error?
    Have you checked to see if this folder exists but maybe LR cannot see it so is trying to create it and is failing?  Or if it doesn’t exist, then create it, yourself?
    Are you running Lightroom as an administrator user?  The issue could be some sort of permissions problem.   I’m a PC person so cannot give you specific steps to do to run LR as an administrator or fix permissions of the Users folder.
    Since LR 5.5 was released before 10.9.4 came out, I suppose there could be some issue that is unique to 10.9.4 installing LR as a new app with this version.    Almost everyone else would already have LR installed before they updated to 10.9.4 so it may not be something Adobe has seen happen.
