Trying to find devices connected to my wireless network

Running a L by S E3000 firmware v1.0.04 build 6
Linksys used to have a piece of software that would map all the devices connected to a linksys network. Does this still exist? Where is it and if it does not, how do I go about seeing what is connected.

I think what you are looking for is Network Magic.  Search the web and download it.

i have iphone 4 and it connect to some wireless networks and some others are not visible while other lphones can find these networks and i tried to restart the phone many times and there is no result, kindly advice

    Some updates and clarifications:
    1. I already have my 2.4 channel fixed.
    2. Wireless network name is 8 alphanumeric characters; no spaces
    3. Already using WPA2 security with a 10 alphanumeric key (again, no spaces)
    4. I am running Airport Utility 6.0, Mac OS version 10.7.4
I should also say that these problems started happening less than a month ago...prior to that all devices where working normally.
An added update: My two e-readers (nook ST and Kindle 3) are also refusing to connect...perhaps confirming that I have 2.4 GHz issues?

  • HT1178 trying to make time capsule connect to a wireless network. How?

Hi! New mba, new time capsule. Trying to connect tc to existing wireless network. Can't find 'manual setup' or 'join wireless network', only 'extend wireless network', which results in the tc disappearing from my list of networks altogether. Help!

A TC is really not designed to join a wireless network and it is a really poor way to run it. It has always been a hidden option.. and now it is even harder to find.
For manual setup it is much easier to simply install 5.6 utility and then you can find and use TC any way you want. But please note the speed will be extraordinarily slow.. all packets will have to travel via the main router that supplies wifi.. to the TC.. you will lose all direct connection.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 (now 6.2 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I have cable wireless and due to provider requirements I have had to disable my hub wireless and plus in another router to the hub to provide wireless. The hub has a network name and the router has the same name but shows a "2" after it.  When I try and connect my printer to this itonly picks up the Hub and says wireless is disabled which is correct.  How can I get it to recognise the router instead?
    I hope this makes sense

I have downloaded Instant Client libraries (basic, SDK and SQL files, named instantclient-basic-10.2.0.4.0-macosx-x64.zip , instantclient-sqlplus-10.2.0.4.0-macosx-x64.zip and instantclient-sqlplus-10.2.0.4.0-macosx-x64.zip ) to Mac OS X 10.6.2 server and unzipped them as instructed in the manual here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/e12121/inst_task.htm#BABJGGJH
Manual then instructs to run runInstaller command. This command however is not being recognized by the system (' No such file or directory' error is thrown) which to my opinion means one of two things: either command is misspelled in the manual or the command file that runs it is missing. I tried it with or without a dot and slash and in small case letters, nothing works.
When I installed similar libraries on Linux I had no problems but all was required there was to place libraries in the proper directory, no command was required.
Maybe same can be done here as well but I am not sure where to place some of the files. I see .h files that should go to /usr/include but see no .so files that on Linux go to /usr/lib. There are some files with .dylib and other .*lib extensions but I'm not sure if they should be copied to /usr/lib or not. And then there are some other files I have no idea what to do with.
Please help!!!No, you can't just drop a few files into a directory and have a working installation (well, I guess technically you could. But technically you could bail all the water out of Lake Superior with a teacup ...)
Sounds like you've covered PATH and current directory issues. What about permissions? What OS account are you using for this installation? (you should have created an account called "oracle" and made it's primary group "dba"). Does that account have execute permissions?

  • TS1398 my friend had her laptop at my house and wanted to connect to my wireless network.  I could not remember my pass word/ Id so she couldn't go online.  How do I find out what it is so that others may connect to the internet when at my home. Thanks.

My friend had her laptop at my house and wanted to connect to my wireless network... I couldn't remember my password and didn't know how to retrieve the info from my ipad.. How can I find ut what the PW is to my wireless network? Thanks

Your password is something you created and is configured in your router. Your router may have the facility to reveal a password but you will have to find that out for your router.
Alternatively, you can reset your router back to factory default which will remove your security settings so you can reconfigure them. This is usually a small button you press on the back of the router. Maybe recessed in a small hole so you need to use a toothpick to depress it.

Power off and then back on the router
What happens when you enter the network's PW?
Try forgetting/deleting the network if necessary. To do that go to System Preferences>Network>wifi>Advanced and select the network and click on the minus sign

  • Finding out devices connected to my home network (Time Capsule)

I have a mid-2013 mac pro and I am using time capsule, I suspect that I have some unwanted guests in my home network:-) how can I see devices connected to my home network?

The new TC and the new Mac OS airport utility are totally useless..
You can do it the old fashioned way with netstat scan from terminal or via the network utility (which is also now hidden so search for it).

  • Upgraded 4s to iOS8 and can't connect to certain wireless networks anymore

I have an iPhone 4s that I updated to iOS 8.  Prior to update, I was using iOS 7 (whatever the latest iteration was), and was able to connect to various wireless networks. Following the update, I am no longer able to connect to the wireless network at my place of work.  It tries to connect, does so briefly, and give me an authentication request (screenshot attached). Blank username/passwords don't work, neither does the network name/password combo.  Choosing cancel will revert the connection back to 3G.
To try and fix the problem, I have "forgotten" the connection, re-started the phone, and neither has worked I have reset my network connections, and it worked immediately after the reset.  The phone was inactive for a while, and upon unlocking, it had reverted to 3G.  When I tried to re-connect, it gave the same errors already stated.
I no longer have a back-up from before the upgrade, so I can't go back to 7.  My wireless connection on my home network is fine.  Nothing has changed with the work wireless since it was working with my iOS 7. It uses a WPA-Personal security, and there are several repeaters for the signal throughout the building.
What is going on and how can I fix it?

  • Unable to connect to home wireless network with my iPod touch

I've had my iTouch for several months now and I'm still not able to connect to my wireless network at home. I've tried the resets and other suggestions I've found in the discussion groups but nothing has worked.
I have an older Netgear Router MR814v2 and it is unsecured. It is attached to my old desktop, HP Pavilion running Windows ME, which is not able to run the itunes software. My HP laptop is where my iTouch and iTunes software is installed.
The iTouch displays my network with good signal strength, but when I try to connect I get the "unable to join the network "NETGEAR".
Going to my router, it does not recognize my iTouch as an attached device. Why is that and what am I missing?
Thank you for all suggestions and your help.

I tried powering down the router. When it's off the iTouch does not recognize the network and then when it's powered on again, the iTouch recognizes the network. Unlike the public wi-fi spots that my iTouch responds to, where all the info like IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS etc are populated in the settings...my iTouch does not populate these fields at home even though it recognizes the network. I still get the unable to connect to network error. Could it be that my router is antiquated and can not support the iTouch? Like I said earlier, my Router does not recognize the iTouch as being attached to it.

  • Since downloading iSO 5 i can no longer connect to a wireless network.

since downloading iSO 5 i can no longer connect to a wireless network. I have tried both at home and at other wireless hotspots. it would appear that none of the previous wireless connections work either? i just get the error "unable to connect to "x"
i have tried to "forget" and rejoin but that has not worked either.

Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?
Did you try to reset the network settings on your device?

  • I have an airport extreme and am trying to extend the range of the wireless network with an airport express.  I set it up with the help of apple support, both lights are green on both airports, but the range didn't change.  What could be wrong?

I am trying to extend the range of my wireless network by adding an airport express to an airport extreme.  I configured it with the help of apple support, but it hasn't changed the range that I can access the internet wirelessly in my house.  What could be the problem?  Does weather affect the wireless network??

So, on the Extreme you checked the box to "allow this network to be extened" ?
    Correct?
And on the Express, you set it up to "Extend a wireless network" ?
    Correct?

Set up: Components of an extended network
➊  Primary Wi-Fi base station (this is the base station connected directly to the Internet)
    ➋  Extended base station
    Configuring a wireless extended network
To create a wireless extended network, you must place any extended Wi-Fi base stations within range of the primary Wi-Fi base station.
Start with the device that will be configured as the primary Wi-Fi base station.  Then configure your extended Wi-Fi base stations, ensuring that each is within direct range of the primary Wi-Fi base station. The physical location of extended Wi-Fi base stations will vary according to the building environment and may require some experimentation.
If you have configured your Wi-Fi base stations in the past, it may be helpful to do a factory default reset of each Wi-Fi base station that will be part of the wireless extended network before you begin.
