Trying to get gnome-main-menu-svn (SLAB) installed from AUR

Having soem troubles installing gnome-main-menu-svn (SLAB) installed from the AUR using yaourt. After getting all the dependencies figured out, there still seems to be problems.
Here is what I have so far:

current revision (451) doesn't work with networkmanager 0.6.6 from extra. Revision 401 from http://svn.gnome.org/svn/gnome-main-menu/branches/gnome-2-22/ works for now.

Any help is appreciated. I really love that menu!

I ran yaourt as root to install gnome-main-menu-svn, and it got past that part. Looks like that was a problem with permissions that also needs to be fixed.
Now its telling me that I don't have a high enough version of libnm-glib, it is asking for >= 0.7.0, and I have 0.6.6. I checked the the repos and there does not seem to be a 0.7.0 version or higher available. A suggestion on the gnome-main-menu-svn package page makes a suggestion, but Im not sure how to go about it

I found a package called networkmanager-beta which seems to be version 0.7.0. Trying to install that with yaourt is unsuccessful as well.

Also had to do yaourt as root to get that far. Why is it that when you use yaourt as root, it advises you to switch to a normal user, and then the packages will not install correctly unless you do?
So far I have been very turned off by the AUR

depends on how old your Mac is ...
newer machines do not come along with a pre-installed iDVD (.. and iWeb ..) anymore; you have to purchase a boxed version of iLife11.
if somehow iDVD is installed on your Mac, you should find it in your Apps-folder
(or use Spotlight, search for iDVD) ...-

With respect, you actually cannot store folders on the left side of the Dock - only on the right side. I wonder if you're talking about Launchpad, which looks like a silver rocket and shows you your installed applications? It's not actually a shortcut to the Applications folder, though. You can certainly drag Launchpad into the left side of the Dock from the Applications folder.

Recompile customize gnome main menu

Whenever I use gnome, one of my main complaints is the main menu applet. Having Applications, places, and system seems a bit redundant to me. While I could just use the other menu applet, I'd prefer it if I could merge places and system so the applet looked like:

As far as I understand, I'd have to recompile the applet for this to work but I can't find the source code anywhere and even if I did, I would have no idea where to start.

The applet you are talking about is the "Menu Bar" the "Main Menu" should just be one icon.

IPhone freezes - when on a call, I can't get to main menu.

When I receive a call and answer it, after the screen goes black(still on the call).. I cannot access the main menu when I hit the home button. So if another call comes in, I can't see it on the phone. Has anyone had a similar problem, and if so how did you fix it?
This has been happening since day 1, I have tried resetting the settings, the only thing I have not done is do a complete restore. I had this issue before the 3.0 upgrade ad after.

Pidgin Nateon plugin won't install from Aur / or manually svn Error

I tried building from from AUR as well, and the PKGBUILD file tried to do the same thing:

So not sure what to do.. I found a source tar from launchpad and built it but it's not working in pidgin... so not sure how to fix this :S

EDIT: I fixed it!
For some reason when I make and make install, it put things in /usr/local/lib,, when it needs to be in /usr/lib/

which is why is always best to use makepkg/pacman to install anything. You never know where things are at/go to.
If you MUST make && make install try to use ./configure --prefix=/usr . Many pkg use /usr/local/ as default (as you see)

I keep trying to put appson my phone they wont install from itunes. i have enough room they just wont go on my phone

i have restored my phone and everything i have over 7gbs left and it wont let me put certain apps on my phone. i can download them thru itunes and they are on my account but they will not go to my phone. and when i try to download them directly to my phone it wont let me download at all!! so if somebody could please help me that would be wonderful i can not think of anything else that would work

Mac OS X, except for incremental updates, which this forum is about is not available for download (you can download the update from 10.4 to 10.4.7 for instance, if that's what you want, but you can't download the full 10.4.7 from scratch). Macs can run the operating system they came with or newer retail operating system up to what specs allow. Macs can also run Linux, though Mac OS X is itself very much like Linux as it has both an XWindows environment and a simple ANSI terminal with a bourne shell into its FreeBSD based command line. I trying to get my messages forwarded to my iPad from my iPhone 6 and I am being asked to enter a code shown on my iPad to allow iPhone texts message

I am trying to sync my iPhone 6 with my iPad iMessage. for some reason its stopped working in december. I clicked on message on my phone but its asking me for a code which was sent to my iPad. I can't remember the code as not all my messages crossed over when I updated my iPhone 4 to iPhone 6. How do I get a new code or work around this issue?

I was just on the line with Apple Tech support. First of all, I learned that when you link contacts to iCloud, it moves all your contacts to another/new address book...look for aother address books and you will see it. But I found the new address book dies weird things and changes the "Display Names" format. Evidently (per Apple support tech) there is no way to avoid this problem...so I just delinked the iCloud from my contacts. The contacts stayed in the iCloud address book...so I exported them to a CSV (comma separated value) file and saved it on my desktop and then imported that list into my original contacts folder. Now everything is back the way it was...being able to use my contact address book the way I did before. I was surprised that they never considered or realized this problem...but then the tech guy admitted that they really don't have A LOT of experience using Windows PC's.

I could not work with the new FF 4 and certainly do not like going back to I.Explorer after using 3.6 for 2 years. I cannot seem to re-install Firefox at all now, although the icon is on my desktop, nothing happens when I click it!

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:

If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

As you erased the drive and reinstalled Mac OS X, Time Machine detects it as a new OS X copy, so it's normal you can't see your old backups. To solve this, see > http://pondini.org/TM/E3.html

[SOLVED] Gnome Shell Extensions won't install from website

When I go to https://extensions.gnome.org/ from either Chromium or Firefox, extensions fail to install. If I click the toggle to turn a new extension "ON", nothing happens. Reloading the site switches it back to "OFF".
I was able to install gnome-shell-extension-mediaplayer-git from the AUR. (Which also pulls in gnome-shell-extension-common-git.) It works fine. The problem is that most of the extensions on the AUR appear to be outdated and the users directed to the official site.
This is a relatively new install of Arch and extensions have never worked. Maybe there's a package I'm missing? Or is there a way to get any debugging output? I'm not sure where to look.

I found the following from AskUbuntu (not my own words, pasted from the source:
I'll take a wild stab in the dark: If you're using Chrome/Chromium, navigate to about:plugins and make sure "Gnome Shell Integration" is enabled. Then navigate back to extensions.gnome.org and when the ribbon appears at the top make sure you "Always Allow for this Site"
On Firefox you'll have to do something similar if you've turned extensions off. Browse to about:plugins and make sure libgnome-shell-browser-plugin.so is present / enabled. If it's not, upgrade Gnome Shell, or find it on your filesystem and link to it from to ~/.mozilla/plugins (you shouldn't have to do this though).

Gnome, Nautilus / Pcman Main menu Opening Find File instead of Home

Hi there,
I am running two user, mine on Compiz-standalone with Pcman as it's lighter.
The second user is using gnome and therefore need and want to keep using nautilus,
The problem is when trying to open the Home folder from the Gnome main menu, a dialogue box "Find File" is opening instead of the Home folder by Nautilus.
Now after searching the forum, I edited the /usr/share/applications/mime.cache
However this hasn't change the problem, I try restarting the PC for the change to take effect but without success.
Any suggestion on how to resolve this annoying bug?

I am having the same issue, using regular Gnome with Nautilus. I started noticing it after the upgrade to Gnome 2.30. Clicking any of the top section buttons under the Gnome panel's "Places" menu brings up "Find Files" searching inside the folder, instead of Nautilus on the folder. Clicking on "Computer" actually does bring up Nautilus.
