Trying to install Support for DTS packages in SQL server 2008

Hi all
I am trying to follow the instructions in the following link...
technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143755(v=sql.105).aspx
...to install support for DTS packages - when it says on the Feature Selection page, select Integration Services - none of the installs I have tried show this as an option - what should I be installing in order to see this and get this feature installed?
I just need to be able to view some DTS packages - help!
Thank you! James

Hello James,
as can be read in the article:
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 2 Feature Pack => SQLServer2005_BC.msi  (BC
= backward compatibilty).

  • Trying to install SP1 for Exchange 2010 on Win Server 2008 R2. A pre-req is KB982867. It is no where to be found. How to find it?

The SP1 wizard says "Install Hotfix Microsoft Knowledge Base article 982867 from http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/KB982867
However, that link no longer exists.
    How to get this hotfix?
Another post said that the Win 7 hotfix would work. Windows6.1-KB982867-v2-x64 But I can't locate that either.
    How to fix?
    john11

    Hi John,
Exchange 2010 Service Pack 3 is the latest service pack. It is recommended to install it. Service Packs are cumulative, Exchange 2010 SP3 includes all fixes included in previous RUs and service packs. Here is a blog for your reference:

    Hope it helps.

  • Need to convert DTS packages to SQL Server 2012 environment.

    Hi Friends,
As Part of the Project Requirement,we need to convert DTS packages to SQL Server 2012 environment.
    Please sugest me best approach.
    Thanks

Best approach is to re-design the packages in SSIS 2012 directy if it is feasible. Because most of the DTS feaures are discontinued and also you will have to clean up all errors that you are going to get after migration.
Discontinued Integration Services Functionality in SQL Server 2012
Otherwise you need to migrate it first to 2008R2 and then 2012 version.

  • Minimum requirements for deploying a package on Sql Server 2008

I am trying to setup a restricted login to deploy packages. At the very least I need to avoid using the sysadmin server role however all of my testing seems to point to my restricted login requiring it which sort of defeats the purpose of a restricted
login. Without the sysadmin account I get the following error: Create failed for JobStep

    Role

    Write action
    own package roles.
    db_ssisoperator
    Enumerate all packages.
    View all packages.
    Execute all packages.
    Export all packages.
Execute all packages in SQL Server Agent.
    None

    Stop all currently running packages.
    Sysssispackages Table
The sysssispackages table in msdb contains the packages that are saved to SQL Server. For more information, see sysssispackages
    (Transact-SQL).
The sysssispackages table includes columns that contain information about the roles that are assigned to packages.
The readerrole column specifies the role that has read access to the package.
The writerrole column specifies the role that has write access to the package.
The ownersid column contains the unique security identifier of the user who created the package. This column defines the owner of the package.
    Permissions
By default, the permissions of the db_ssisadmin and db_ssisoperator fixed database-level roles and the unique security identifier of the user who created the package apply to the reader role for packages,
and the permissions of the db_ssisadmin role and the unique security identifier of the user who created the package apply to the writer role. A user must be a member of the db_ssisadmin, db_ssisltduser,
or db_ssisoperator role to have read access to the package. A user must be a member of the db_ssisadmin role to have write access.

Hi. I need to get the update of my MS SQL Server 2012 installation in order to get the SP1.
When I run the Windows Update it appears to download well the package.
Then when it begins to install  I get the error "84C4000E: Se ha producido un error con Windows Update" (our server is in Spanish).
I have the last updates for Windows Server, a rebooted our server and the issue remains.
Any idea of what should I do to get the SP1 update?
    Thanks in advance.
    Gustavo.

    Hi Gustavo,
Based on your description, I suggest you should refer to the following articles. And then check if you can install the update successfully.

  • "Value cannot be null" error when trying to edit or create Maintenance Plan in SQL Server 2008

I have SQL Server 2008 installed on Windows Server 2008 64bit, every time I try to open or create a new Maintenance Plan I receive the error:
    Value cannot be null.
    Parameter name: component (System.Design)
    Program Location:
       at System.ComponentModel.Design.DesignerHost.System.ComponentModel.Design.IDesignerHost.GetDesigner(IComponent component)
at Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.VsIntegration.DtsDesignerService.OpenDesigner(String connectionString, Object connection, String objectUrn)
       at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.DatabaseMaintenance.MaintDesignerMenuHandler.Invoke()
And in the Design view screen
"Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio is unable to load this document: Could not load type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.runtime.Wrapper.IDTSPackageSigning100' from assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSRunTimeWrap, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral'.
I have searched for a possible solution and have tried some suggestions of registering the msxml6.dll but and have installed VS2008 SP1 but I'm not in a position where I can do a full reinstall of SQL Server right now. Any help is appreciated. My SQL server
    environment information is below.
    Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
    10.0.1600.22 ((SQL_PreRelease).080709-1414 )
    Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools
    2007.0100.1600.022 ((SQL_PreRelease).080709-1414 )
    Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)
    6.0.6002.18005 (lh_sp2rtm.090410-1830)
    Microsoft MSXML 3.0 4.0 5.0 6.0
    Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18943
    Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.50727.4206
    Operating System 6.0.6002

I digged a little deeper and figured out it was a missing directory/file in %TEMP%. Seems some CleaningTool removes all files/directories in %Temp% and after that SSMS was not working any longer. The missing file is actually not needed, but the
missing directory causes the "Value cannot be null" error.
    My missing file name was:
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\2\6vvdaozf.tmp
But the file name changes on every startup.
So my missing directory name was:
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\2
After creating a empty directory with the name "2" in %TEMP% all went back to work fine for me.
I'm not sure the directory name is every time the same, but you can discover your missing file with the process monitor from Sysinternal Tools and filters to "Process Name is ssms.exe" and "Path contains AppData\Local\Temp"
Hope this helps other people to solve their issues too.
Thank you!! When I run %temp% it takes me to "C:\Users\Admin ...~\AppData\Local\Temp\some random number". At first the random number was 3, after I logged off and back on it was 2. My temp variable in enviromental variables is correct. I looked on another machine
running SQL2008 and temp is correct there. If I try to rename the numbered folder SSMS stops working. Any idea?

  • How to troubleshoot online datamove for 1 of 3 SQL Server 2008 migrations.

I have 3 SQL Server 2008 databases that I need to migrate to Oracle 11gR2 with data only. For all databases I can capture convert, and deploy to the target database. I can also successfully do an online data move for 2 of the databases. The third database runs for about 2 hours and gives a message that the migration completed successfully, but no a single row from any of the tables comes over. How do I figure out what failed. I don't see anything in the reports in SQL Developer (3.2.20.09). To save time and since I am only interested in the tables, indexes and data, after capturing the model, I delete from QL Developer, views, procedures, functions, sequences and triggers before the covert step.

    Hello,
did you delete the views, procedures, functions etc. from the converted model only for the database where you have the problem, or did you do the same for all the three databases?
Have you had a look at the MIGRLOG table in your migration repository? Does it contain any helpful information?
    Regards

  • Support for mysql or ms sql server ?

Does sunone support mysql or ms sql server, I keep getting the following when I try to deploy an entity bean using either database.

  • Support for Service Pack1 in Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hi all
Can someone tell me if the client 7.20 supports the service pack 1 of Windows Server 2008 R2?
Where can I found a technical note about that? My question is about just the SERVICE PACK 1.
    Thanks in advance
    Marcelo

    Hi,
Please see Note 26417 - SAP GUI Resources: Hardware and software
This give you all required information for your query.

  • Support for Windows Authentication in SQL Server Plug-in

I can't find anything in the documentation, or maybe my eyes are subconsciously skipping over the section. Does the 3.2.3.1.0 SQL Server plug-in support Windows Authentication? We have stopped using Mixed-Mode in our SQL Server 2005 Databases.

Not as such, but you can always manage them through worksheet statements.
You can request this at the SQL Developer Exchange though, so other users can vote and add weight for possible future implementation.
    Regards,
    K.

Query should return only one value. Instead it is returning more than one value. Check the query result in ssms.

  • Trying to install features for PowerPivot and Reporting Services from SQL Server 2012 with SP2, but no access to key?

    Hi,
I had installed SQL Server 2012 PowerPivot on WFE and App Server. This is test farm with 1 WFE and 1 APP and 1 SQL Server.
However, we had a heap of issues with Windows Claims Authentication and PowerPivot - issues were raised with "unable to make a connection to EntityDataSource" . Now we uninstalled the PowerPivot and Reporting Services features and wanted to install
with the SQL Server 2012 with SP2. Originally SP2 was installed seperately and we had read there had been issues.
Anyway on trying to install the features again using the SQL Server 2012 with SP2 iso I get
    Could not open key UNKNOWN\Components
I don't want to start deleting or changing permissions as quite dodgey. What is this key for anyway and how do I resolve my issue.
    Thanks.
    John.

    Hi John,
Did you meet the error message during the process of configuring the PowerPivot for SharePoint?
If yes, I suppose that the existing features or components have not been uninstalled completely.
I recommend to delete the two keys left when uninstalling the PowerPivot and please make a copy of the registry keys before you delete the two keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\15.0\WSS\ServiceProxies\Microsoft.AnalysisServices.Sharepoint.Integration.MidTierServiceProxy
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\15.0\WSS\ServiceProxies\Microsoft.AnalysisServices.Sharepoint.Integration.MidTierServicea
Please check the steps in the link below to see if there anything wrong when you uninstalling the PowerPivot and then re-install it to see how it works:

  • Why SCCM 20012 Install fails with remote 64 bit SQL Server but proceeds for remote 32 bit SQL Server

    I have the following setup:
    AD User accounts
    - SQLAdmin (used to run SQL Services i.e. Database Engine)
    - SCCMADmin (used to install SCCM 2012)
SPN registered for user account SQLAdmin
    setspn -S MSSQLSvc/SQL.Domain_Name:1432 Domain_Naem\SQLAdmin
    setspn -S MSSQLSvc/SQL:1432 Domain_Name\SQLAdmin
    setspn -S MSSQLSvc/SQL.Domain_Name:1433 Domain_Naem\SQLAdmin
    setspn -S MSSQLSvc/SQL:1433 Domain_Name\SQLAdmin
and checked with setspn -L TESTING\SQLAdmin
    1 SERVER called SQL
    32bit Server with SQL Server 2008 + SP3 + Cumulative Update 6
2 SQL instances - Default (MSSQLSERVER) and
    SCCM2012
MSSQLSERVER instance uses TCP port 1433
SCCM2012 Instance users TCP port 1432 (no dynamic ports)
User accounts that have been given public and sysadmin SQL server roles
on both instances are: SQLAdmin, SCCMAdmin, Domain Administrator, Local Administrator and computer account SCCM
Client Protocols TCP enabled (and Named Pipes) (checked via SQL Server Configuration Manager)
Local Administrators Group on this server has members - SQLAdmin, SCCMAdmin, Domain Administrator, Local Administrator and computer account SCCM
Firewall turned on with access allowed on Ports 1432, 1433, 4022,445, and WMI - WMI-in, DCOM-in and ASync-iN builtin rules allowed\enabled.
    1 SERVER called SQL3
    64bit Server with SQL Server 2008 + SP3 + Cumulative Update 6
2 SQL instances - Default (MSSQLSERVER) and
    SCCM2012
MSSQLSERVER instance uses TCP port 1433
SCCM2012 Instance users TCP port 1432 (no dymanic ports)
User accounts that have been given public and sysafmin SQL server roles on both instances are:
SQLAdmin, SCCMAdmin, Domain Administrator, Local Administrator and computer account SCCM
Client Protocols TCP enabled (and Named Pipes) (checked via SQL Server Configuration Manager)
Local Administrators Group on this server has members - SQLAdmin, SCCMAdmin, Domain Administrator, Local Administrator and computer account SCCM
    Firewall turned off
    1 SERVER called SCCM
64bit Server that is to be the Primary Site Server\MP for SCCM 2012
    ODBC link to SQL\SCCM2012,1432
    ODBC link to SQL3\SCCM2012,1432
ODBC uses SQL Native Client 10.0 (64 bit)
Both ODBC connections when TESTed pass and suggest connectivity to SQL Servers
    Install process doe SCCM2012
Tried to install SCCM 2012 RC2 when logged in to SCCM Server as AD user account
SCCMAdmin,  and when utilising the SCCM2012 SQL instance on
32 bit server of SQL install proceeds barring warning about 8GB rec, for SQL Server. Then fails on PKI certificate issue. Installation (chose HTTP for MP). I beleive the PKI failure as install starts is
due to the fact that SCCM 2012 needs its database server to b 64 bit ?
Thus i then tried to install SCCM 2012 RC2 when logged in to SCCM Server as AD user account SCCMAdmin,  and
when using the SCCM2012 SQL instance on
64 bit server of SQL install proceeds but fails at checking stage and says:
SQL Server sysadmin rights FAILED SQL3.Domain_Name
Either the user account running Configuration Manager Setup does not have sysadmin SQL Server role permissions on the SQL Server instance selected for site database installation, or the SQL Server instance could not be contacted to verify permissions. Setup
    cannot continue.
    and
Site System to SQL Server communication  WARNING SCCM.Domain_Name
A communication error has been detected between the specified site system and the site database computer. This error can occur when the site database server is offline or if a valid SPN has not been registered in Active Directory Domain Services for the SQL
Server instance hosting the site database. Setup cannot continue.
Why does the install of SCCM 2012 with 32 bit SQL proceed further than the install with 64 bit SQL, with the latter process failing as above error meesages show and yet both servers are set identically (apart from temporary turning off Firewall on the 64
bit server) and during the install the Databse Server specified is accepted ?

    Thanks for the reply.
I can connect via ODBC to the the 32 bit SQL Server and the 64 bit SQL Server from the SCCM Server
The SQL Server Unit called SQL3 unit is a 64 bit SQL.
The SQL Server Unit called SQL is only 32 bit, but at least gets past the final checking stage and the error messages about sysadmin rights and Site System to SQL Server communication problem, and then fails with PKI certificate error message.
When trying to install SCCM specifying the 64 bit SQL Server as the Database Server it gives the 2 error messages at the final checking stage of the installation as listed.
So as I said what is confusing is the fact that if the SCCM install uses the remote 32 bit SQL Server it passes the final checking (although fails with PKI certificate message) but the 64 bit SQL Server set up exactly the same apart from the Firewall being
left off for the time being, fails at the final check stage with the 2 listed errors.
If I use a local 64 bit SQL Server the installation is fine.
Still would like to find out what cause the 2 issues for the remote 64 bit SQL Server, when ODBC seems fine, sysadmin rights have been given for the installer account and the SCCM computer account and SPNs have been set for the user account running the SQL
    Services.
