TS1398 Iphone 5 Unable to join known network. Tried everything suggested here. iPad connects fine.
Ive tried all of the fixes posted to no effect. Anyone have a different solution
If your device is connecting with other wifi devices other than that of your home local wifi/router you need to be thinking strongly about what is going on with the device that you aren't connecting with. How far in distance are you from the wifi at your residence? How old is the router you're using at home? After resetting your network settings have you ensure you took the time to reset the password from your mobile device to match that of your home routers password? If your device is working elsewhere just fine and not at home you may want to start your troubleshooting more towards the router rather than the mobile device.

WI-Fi problem IPhone 3G (Unable to join the network XY)
Hi, I bought a 3G Iphone 8Gb, It came with firmware 2.2 ...
When I try to access Wi-Fi I got this error : "Unable to join the network XY"
I updated to 2.2.1 and the error continues...
Tried to restore network settings, and nothing...
ps.: My friend with other Iphone 3G can access the same Wi-Fi network...
Help?It may be that the battery is the issue. I am having the same problems - unable to log in to my WIFI at home, which I have never had an issue with until yesterday, when I started getting the "Unable to access XXX network".
I have tried everything including full iphone restore and router factory restore, but nothing. I did note that after having the phone switched off overnight, I was able to access my wireless network for about fifteen minutes then it just dropped the connection and now I am back to no access whatsoever.
Take a read here:
http://www.applesource.com.au/iphone/soa/iPhone-Wi-Fi-failures-caused-by-battery -heat-/0,2000070787,339295984,00.htm
It is one of many internet postings on this issue and would make sense of the posting above mine..
I'm going to try reverting to 2.2.0 - people such as Leo Laporte on Macbreak Weekly have been complaining of battery issues since upgrading to 2.2.1 -
TS1398 iPhone can't search for wireless networks. Any suggestions?
My iphone 4S displays a message saying that it, "Can not search for wireless networks. Any suggestions? I've turned it off, reset the network settings, taken out the sim card, turned on/off airplane mode . . . what else can I do? When I've phoned the help line I've been waiting to get through for over an hour!!
Try Resetting Network Settings from Settings > General Reset.
If that doesn't do it, this Apple doc might have something helpful -> iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections -
please help me i have tried everything , like renewing lease , reseting network , etc etc , my other i pad which is on ios 5 works well , so does my iphone which is on ios4 , no matter what i do after a minute or 2 , it stops working , it automatically doesnt connect to wifi unlike my other devices, and i do it manually it works for a min and stop , device still shows connection to wifi
O and yes ! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

IPhone 5s Unable to join home network but joins other networks?
As in the question above, I just got a brand new iPhone 5s that worked perfectly with my home wi-fi for about 5 hours untill it suddenly decided it didn't enjoy being connected to it and immediatly broke the connection. after that I tried getting it to connect - even resetting network setting and restarting both device and router- but still the same message comes up "Unable to connect to 'Network'". I would really love some help on how I can fix this besides going to genius bar or something like that since there aren't any in my country. and I doubt the place I bought it from would give me a refund or replace it. Keep in mind that it still connects to other networks. It's just my home network that it's having problems with. Also, other devices in my house are working just fine with the home network.
If your device is connecting with other wifi devices other than that of your home local wifi/router you need to be thinking strongly about what is going on with the device that you aren't connecting with. How far in distance are you from the wifi at your residence? How old is the router you're using at home? IPhone 5 wi-fi "unable to join the network"
My new iPhone 5 is my first iPhone and I've had it about a week. I'm still in the process of setting it up but cannot connect to my home (secured) wi-fi. I've been reading other Apple forums and Google suggestions and it appears this is a known Apple issue? My phone came with iOS 6 installed so I have no update available. I've turned off my router and shut off my phone, rebooting both but I still get an error message when entering our wi-fi password: "unable to join the network". I've turned off cellular and re-tried wi-fi to no avail. I am NOT impressed with my first Apple product. What a hassle. Does anyone have any other suggestions to try or am I stuck waiting months for an Apple fix?
There are a couple of things that you can try. First, try disabling the security on your wifi network and see if the phone will connect. Check the type of security you are using. Some have reported the iPhone reacts differently to some wifi security. Check to see if there is a firmware update to the router. This is usually the biggest culprit of the bunch. Once routers have been updated and restarted, troubles disappear.

How to solve the issue of 'Unable to join the network' on my iPhone 5!?
I used to connect to a wifi network on my iPhone 5 and suddenly i could not connect anymore to this network. My phone kept showing 'Unable to join the network'. I tried 'forget this network' and resetting the network settings but none of these solutions worked. Can anyone help me to resolve this issue?
Hi Jason,
Please try with scope provided: Maven – Introduction to the Dependency Mechanism

Recently, my iphone 4s lost connection with the wifi network I set up on my imac desktop. The message I receive is "unable to join the network..."
Can anyone offer a solution to this problem? Thanks!Oh, so the problem has nothing at all to do with the iPhone ... it is that you cannot remember the network password! No wonder the iPhone cannot join the network.
Why not simply destroy the network and set up a new one with a password you remember? -
TS1398 unable to join the network
Just received new iPhone 5. It sees local networks but keeps giveing me the "Unable to join the network". How do I mannually join the network? Or reset the individual network to allow me to put in another password. The first time I set it up I entered the wrong password and not it will not let me put in another password.
iOS 6 and iPhone 5I was unable to join the network on my iPhone 5 as well and it turned out that I had incorrectly entered the password (fat fingers). My network was working fine on my other iDevices. Yes, you'll need to reenter the network password again and to do that:
1) Go to WiFi under Settings
2) Select the blue arrow at the right of your networks name under 'Choose a Network..."
3) At top of page select "Forget this Network"
4) Choose "Forget"
5) Go back to WiFi
6) Choose your network.
7) Reenter Password!

Unable to join the network on iPhone 5
My phone was using IOS 6.0 when this first started happening. I was able to join a public network (i.e. church, hotel). It connected the first time without problems. Then another time later I was unable to. I got the "unable to join the network" message. The phone can see the network.
I've tried several attempts. Tried the following:
- forget network (does not give this option anymore)
- turning wifi on and off
- reset network settings
- resetting the phone by holding the buttons for 10 seconds
I am able to connect to my home wifi without any problems and my work wifi, and possibly others.
My wifes phone is identical to mine and she is able to connect to the church's wifi.
I even tried the update to IOS 6.1 - same result.
Since these are public routers, I don't have the option to reset their hardware.
Suggestions?Take it back and have it replaced as it is a hardware problem. I had the same problem with my iPhone 5 bought in July 2013 direct from the Apple Store and went thro hundreds of blogs to try & fix it but had no luck whatsoever. The only way I got it to work was to turn off the security on my router. This wasn't a viable option long term as well as the majority of other places that offer Wifi also use secure wif networks. There appears to be a problem with some batch of iphone 5's ( as per research online) not accepting the WPA 2 personal security settings due to a faulty chip or antenna using the 2.4GHz settings? Quality control must be a problem in their production line?
Also if you switch to the 5Ghz settings on the router this seemed to work for me but then my daughters couldn't use their iPhone 4s wifi as they don't support the 5Ghz range. Book an appointment to see a Genius at the Apple store and get them to replace it if it is still new and in warranty. I expalined the problem that it would not work on a secure network even though it would work in the Apple Store as it they have unsecured wifi network in store. They agreed to replace it and my new iPhone 5 works fine at home on the same router / Wifi WPA 2 Personal setting that the original didn't!
Save yourself the massive headache and just get it replaced as glad I did! -
Iphone 4s unable to join network
iphone 4s unable to join wi-fi network
I had the same problem with iphone 3g.
Go to your router and do the following:
1. Choose a wireless channel between 1,3,6, and 11 only and see what works. In my case, I have selected channel 6.
2. Also in the 802.11 mode, select the option the says mixed 802.11n, 802.11g, and 802.11b.
I hope this helps.

How do I get my iPad to remember my home network? I already switched on the "automatically join known networks"
turn off all of the ipads, (not put them to sleep but turn them off) then unplug your Wi-Fi router for 2 mins. Plug it back in and when all the lights are (green or blue, depends on who makes the router) turn on one ipad and then connect it, wait 3 mins and turn on the other and connect it, do this for each iPad and it should fix the problem.
