TS20000174 task  in Workflow WS20000079   not executed

Hi ,
I Created cusom workflow by copying the standard Workflow WS20000079.
While Creating the contract in transaction ME31k custom workflow will be triggered because event linkage using the business object bus2014 and event RELEASESTEPCREATED  has been done .
I assigned user USER1 to the Task TS20000172 , so workitem is created  in user USER1 Inbox , once we  execute the workitem it displays dialog with release and save option, i clicked release and save. then process flow goes to contract release in workflow but the task TS20000174 ( Release task effected ) is not executed . but workflow status shows the workflow is completed
why TS20000174 task ( Release task effected ) is not executed.  i want to assign user USER2 to the task TS20000174 . this task should be executed by USER2
after this i want to add mail step.
Please give suggestion .
Regards

Hi suresh ,
TS20000174 is Generic task
outcome "Contract released " in outcome tab for task TS20000172 is also active
release code also properly populated for the task  TS20000174.
the initiator also receive the information that the contract is released
then work flow status is completed  all the steps are working fine .
i want to add mail step once tasks TS20000174 is executed.
when i see the graphical workflow log, i can see the green mark upto the task TS20000174 after that nothing will be executed.
and also the green mark will not be reached the workflow completed step.
is there any problem in task TS20000174 , then how can i add mail step.

  • Workflow step not executed...

    Hi,
    In my workflow requirement (for VA01), I want to record the status in a custom table as follows;
    Approver id     date   time    status
    ABC                                     Submitted for approval
    ABC                                     Approved (or) Rejected
    So I have created a step called 'update custom status' after the step that sends email to the approver agent whose details stored in another custom table. Then I associated a task with this step which is bound to a custom class / method which has the logic to write the status to the custom table.
    The issue is I do not see this step excuted. I checked in the log.
    What can be wrong ?
    Workflow steps are as follows;
    1. Read the document's net value and store in a variable.
    2. Read the custom table for agents list to whom the doc has to be sent for approval.
    3. Send email for approval.
    4. update custom status.
    In the graphical view, I can see the update custom status step being called (Green link from previous step to this step) but after that no progress.
    Am I missing passing some values ? Or is this step not giving any results ? Whats happening ?
    Details on this update custom status step are as follows;
    A custom task with terminating event set as _WORKITEM defined. (not synchronous)
    A step of type activity defined and bound to the above task with binding done.. (what values should I pass to record the above needed details.)
    In other words, how can I record the status in my custom table ?
    thnks

    Hi
    I think its a background step. If yes, then make it foreground and debug and see what is the problem. Also check for short dumps and turn on the event trace and see the terminating event is getting triggered.

  • Workflow Activities not executing in Parallel

    Hi,
    I am using Oracle Workflow as a dependency management system to load a Data Warehouse.
    Workflow Activities are used to execute a custom PL/SQL wrapper that kick off Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) mappings that load target tables with source system data.
    This process works correctly and data is loaded into the Data Warehouse as expected.
    However, when I create a Workflow with activities in parallel they are not loaded concurrently, they load sequentially instead.
    ie.
    START
    => ACTIVITY1 =>
    => ACTIVITY2 =>
    => ACTIVITY3 =>
    AND => END
    In the example above I would expect all 3 Activities to run in parallel, then wait until all 3 are completed at the AND condition.
    All 3 Activities above are DEFERRED to the Background Engine.
    After executing the Workflow and viewing the Workflow Public View WF_ITEM_ACTIVITY_STATUSES_V, it displays all of the Activities in DEFERRED status as expected.
    Workflow then proceeds to execute each Activity one at a time, instead of all 3 at once.
    Any ideas how to execute all 3 Activities in Parallel?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    If the activities are all PL/SQL, then the Workflow Engine doesn't run anything in parallel - there is only one engine processing the activities. The theory is that it runs so quickly it will look like it's in parallel with no real effect.
    So what you are getting is expected behaviour - it's just that because you have deferred it to the background engine, you have a greater opportunity to see how the engine works.

  • Workflow not executing - No event error no log errors

    Hello experts,
    I finally solved the exceptions i was getting in my work flow and all the thanks goes for all the forum participants in general and to  Sudhindra, and  Glauco specifically,
    Now i have another error that i am clueless about, i want to trigger the workflow when the status of a document changes, so when i change the status nothing happens, in SWEL there are no errors, It says that receiver started correctly, in ST22 there are no errors, but
    the workflow does not execute, the workflow should open a web browser, so it is not opening it. Any ideas as to why this is happening ?

    Points are awarded

    I have replied to this in the original thread... anyways here is a copy of the same...
    No the background task is executed by the user WF-BATCH and once the function module is called the user transfers the control to the SAP GUI and then the SAP GUI communicates with the OS. In this case if the task is background then how will the OS know where to call the web browser? It will not know the user to whom this request must be dispatched.
    So the bottom line is that you cannot use this functionality in a background task.
    There is one workaround that comes to my mind. What you can do to inform a user that the "Changed" event has triggered is as follows:
    1. Create a workflow which will trigger off from the Changed event of "DRAW"
    2. Create a send mail step and check the checkbox that says "Send Express" and include the URL you want to open in the Mail body and then send it to an outlook user.
    If you use the Send Express flag then the user will be intimated once the event has occured if and only if he uses the SAP GUI. If the user does not use the SAP GUI then you can remove the check but just send the mail to the outlook so that the user receives the email in outlook once the event has triggered!
    Apart from this nothing comes to my mind!
    All the best!

  • WEB Service task excuting error "method not found"

    Hii All,
    I am the beginner of ssis, and on executing the package I am getting error :
    [Web Service Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.WebServiceTask.WebserviceTaskException: Could not execute the Web method. The error is: Method 'ProxyNamespace.BizTalkServiceInstance.Submit'

       at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.WebServiceTask.WebServiceTask.executeThread()".
    Please help me out..

    Hi Mangla,
    Based on my research, the issue always caused by the data type of input variable mismatch for the Web Service. For example, the input type for web service is String. The variable was of type Object but in fact it was a Decimal stored in it. Obviously SSIS
    Web Service Task will not implicitly do a .toString() call on the input variable. So the issue occurs.
    To fix this issue, please change the type of the variable. For more details, please refer to the following similar thread:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/1073ad37-ed05-4ab4-85e3-689e1cd17a68/ssis-web-service-task-error-with-wcf-service
    Besides, SSIS cannot invoke services with spaces in the names. And we should configure the HTTP connection manager the following ways:
    Use credentials.
    Use a client certificate.
    Provide a time-out for connecting to the server and a chunk size for writing data.
    Use a proxy server.

  • Workflow task showing in sap inbox but not executable by some users

    Hello Experts,
    We have a workflow task that correctly show in the user inbox but is not executable by some users, we have two users with the same roles, and one is unable to execute the task when it is workflowed into his/her inbox. we have checked if this is an authorization issue and found nothing.
    We debugged through program SAPLRHW1 under include LRHW1F02 subroutine READ_ORG_BUFFER, it imports TASK_INFO_BUFFER from the shared memory(see code below) and come back with a number of tasks that the system user can execute. We have task TS&&&&&&&& as a general task but some of the users cannot execute it.
    Please advise of what could be the cause of this and the possible solution.
    using shared memory

    Hi All,
    I had experienced this type of problem as well, just to share it could be that the Identity of the Portal user misses a role which can be solved by any user assigning the identity in their identity management or it could also be the connection status of the UWL to the backend, there should be at least two connection statuses for workflow items to get into the UWL I could not recall it but I would post it here once I have the access to our system again.

  • Extended method in the task is not executing

    Hello Friends,
    I had extended the business object BUS2105 and added a new synchronous method which will return the PR items as objects in the form of a table. This method does not have an import parameter as I am using OBJECT-KEY-NUMBER and has a multiline export element of type BUS2009. Then I had Implemented, Released & Delegated my Z business object. All these activities were completed perfectly.
    Then in my workflow I had used this method in an activity step.  I had set the binding from Workflow container to the Task container( in the workflow container I am getting the EVTOBJECT into a workflow container element of type BUS2105 by binding from Event container to Workflow container) and then from the Task container to the Method container also. There were no inconsistencies during binding.
    During test run this works perfectly and returns the workflow with the PR items as objects into a multiline container element of type BUS2009. Then I tested using SWUE and triggered against the 'CREATED' event of BUS2105. There also this works perfectly as it should be.
    My problem is, when I create a PR from ME51N, execution of my workflow stops by this activity step which is using my custom method. From SWEL I can see that workflow workitem has been created. In the workflow log, the created PR number is coming up to the WIOBJECT_ID of the task container. But the method will not trigger. If binding was the problem, then this workflow should not work from SWUE or during test run.
    Can anyone help me to solve this issue? What else I should do to solve this?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Abijith

    Hi,
    "My problem is, when I create a PR from ME51N, execution of my workflow stops by this activity step which is using my custom method. From SWEL I can see that workflow workitem has been created. 1. I hope the task would be a background task and that is the reason even after inserting a break point the execution of the method has not interrupted. When ever you want to debug a background task first make it as a fore ground task and make agent assignment as general task and then assign the recipient as yourself, so that the workitem comes to your inbox then you try to execute the worktiem after inserting the break point in the method. This way you can debug the method from the workflow.
    2. The other part would be as you said that the workflow hangs at this activity step , so make sure the PR is not locked, I mean sometimes it may be possible that the object might be locked and if any changes are done in the method. it fails.
    3. The reason I feel it is working from SWUE is that you have inserted values which are already existing in the system and they might not have locked by the system.
    so please check the above three points.

  • Workflow saved as iCal Plug-in not executing

    Hello,
    I have created an automator workflow and saved it as an ical plugin. The workflow simply sends an email. It is only 2 actions (New Message, and Send Outgoing Messages).
    For testing purposes, if I then set the iCal event to execute, say in 1 minute, and I sit there and wait 1 minute, I can watch the workflow automatically execute fine, and the email is sent. So that means everything works fine, right? Nope.
    The problem is, when I set the iCal event for 6 AM, it always fails to execute at that time.
    I thought the problem was that my computer was asleep at 6 AM. So I went to Energy Saver and set it to wake at 5:55 AM. Still no avail. This morning, I woke up and watched the computer automatically wake up correctly at 5:55 AM. But when 6 AM came, it did not execute the plugin. I had to open Automator and run it manually.
    Both iCal and Mail are running at 6 AM, and iCal's checkboxes for "Turn off Alarms" and "Turn off Alarms when iCal is not running" are unchecked.
    Any ideas? How can I make this workflow iCal plugin actually execute at 6 AM automatically without me having to run it manually?
    Thanks

    How long before the iCal event is the Alarm set for? If it’s set for five minutes or more beforehand, then it won’t run unless the machine is awake at that time.

  • Update Row into Run Table Task is not executing in correct sequence in DAC

    Update Row into Run Table Task is not executing in correct sequence in DAC.
    The task phase for this task is "Post Lost" . The depth in the execution plan is 19 but this task is running some times in Depth 12, some times in 14 and some time in Depth 16. Would like to know is this sequence of execution is correct order or not? In the out of the Box this task is executed at the end of the entire load. No Errors were reported in DAC log.
    Please let me know if any documents that would highlight this issue
    rm

    Update into Run table is a task thats required to update a table called W_ETL_RUN_S. The whole intention of this table is to keep the poor mans run history on the warehouse itself. The actual run history is stored in the DAC runtime tables, however the DAC repository could be on some other database/schema other than warehouse. Its mostly a legacy table, thats being carried around. If one were to pay close attention to this task, it has phase dependencies defined that dictate when this task should run.
    Apologies in advance for a lengthy post.... But sure might help understanding how DAC behaves! And is going to be essential for you to find issues at hand.
    The dependency generation in DAC follows the following rules of thumb!
    - Considers the Source table target table definitions of the tasks. With this information the tasks that write to a table take precedence over the tasks that reads from a table.
    - Considers the phase information. With this information, it will be able to resolve some of the conflicts. Should multiple tasks write to the same table, the phase is used to appropriately stagger them.
    - Considers the truncate table option. Should there be multiple tasks that write to the same table with the same phase information, the task that truncates the table takes precedence.
    - When more than one task that needs to write to the table that have similar properties, DAC would stagger them. However if one feels that either they can all go in parallel, or a common truncate is desired prior to any of the tasks execution, one could use a task group.
    - Task group is also handy when you suspect the application logic dictates cyclical reads and writes. For example, Task 1 reads from A and writes to B. Task 2 reads from B and writes back to A. If these two tasks were to have different phases, DAC would be able to figure that out and order them accordingly. If not, for example those tasks need to be of the same phase for some reason, one could create a task group as well.
    Now that I described the behavior of how the dependency generation works, there may be some tasks that have no relevance to other tasks either as source tables or target tables. The update into run history is a classic example. The purpose of this task is to update the run information in the W_ETL_RUN_S with status 'Completed' with an end time stamp. Because this needs to run at the end, it has phase dependency defined on it. With this information DAC will be able to stagger the position of execution either before (Block) or after (Wait) all the tasks belonging to a particular phase is completed.
    Now a description about depth. While Depth gives an indication to the order of execution, its only an indication of how the tasks may be executed. Its a reflection of how the dependencies have been discovered. Let me explain with an example. The tasks that have no dependency will have a depth of 0. The tasks that depend on one or more or all of depth 0 get a depth of 1. The tasks that depend on one or more or all of depth 1 get a depth of 2. It also means implicitly a task of depth 2 will indirectly depend on a task of depth 0 through other tasks in depth 1. In essence the dependencies translate to an execution graph, and is different from the batch structures one usually thinks of when it comes to ETL execution.
    Because DAC does runtime optimization in the order in which tasks are executed, it may pick a task thats of order 1 over something else with an order of 0. The factors considered for picking the next best task to run depend on
    - The number of dependent tasks. For example, a task which has 10 dependents gets more priorty than the one whose dependents is 1.
    - If all else equal, it considers the number of source tables. For example a task having 10 source tables gets more priority than the one that has only two source tables.
    - If all else equal, it considers the average time taken by each of the tasks. The longer running ones will get more preference than the quick running ones
    - and many other factors!
    And of course the dependencies are honored through the execution. Unless all the predecessors of a task are in completed state a task does not get picked for execution.
    Another way to think of this depth concept : If one were to execute one task at a time, probably this is the order in which the tasks will be executed.
    The depth can change depending on the number of tasks identified for the execution plan.
    The immediate predecessors and successor can be a very valuable information to look at and should be used to validate the design. All predecessors and successors provide information to corroborate it even further. This can be accessed through clicking on any task and choosing the detail button. You will see all these information over there. As an alternate method, you could also use the 'All/immediate Predecessors' and 'All/immediate Successor' tabs that provide a flat view of the dependencies. Note that these tabs may have to retrieve a large amount of data, and hence will open in a query mode.
    SUMMARY: Irrespective of the depth, validate
    - if this task has 'Phase dependencies' that span all the ETL phases and has a 'Wait' option.
    - click on the particular task and verify if the task does not have any successors. And the predecessors include all the tasks from all the phases its supposed to wait for!
    Once you have inspected the above two you should be good to go, no matter what the depth says!
    Hope this helps!

  • The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information using Update Item action

       I got error  "The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information "I  found out the cause is  Update Item action
    I need to update item in another List call Customer Report ,the field call "Issues"  with data type  "Choice"   to yes

    Thanks for the quick response Nikhil.
    Our SPF 2010 server is relatively small to many setups I am sure. The list with the issue only has 4456 items and there are a few associated lists, eg lookups, Tasks, etc see below for count.
    Site Lists
    Engagements = 4456 (Errors on this list, primary list for activity)
    Tasks = 7711  (All workflow tasks from all site lists)
    Clients = 4396  (Lookup from Engagements, Tslips, etc)
    Workflow History = 584930 (I periodically run a cleanup on this and try to keep it under 400k)
    Tslips = 3522 (Engagements list can create items here, but overall not much interaction between lists)
    A few other lists that are used by workflows to lookup associations that are fairly static and under 50 items, eg "Parters Admin" used to lookup a partners executive admin to assign a task.

  • How to run Assignment in Series - Workflow can not connect two Assignments

    Here is my scenario:
    I have a custom repository with no Taxanomy table.
    I want to run series of Assignments.
    I defined 5 assignments.
    Thought that I can use MDM Workflow to call them in series. However MDM Workflow does not let me connect one Assignmen Task to next Assignment Task.
    How to run Assignments in Series, either using Workflow or by using someother mechanism.
    Idealy it could have been nice to Group the Assignments like Validation.
    Or even Much better powerful Assignment and Validation Script. Add "Script Documentation" to that please.
    Thanks,
    Abhay

    I tested with 2 assignments.
    I created 2 assignments.
    My workflow definition has a Start, Assign1, Assign2, Stop.
    Start -> Assign1
    Assign1 -> Assign2
    Assign2-> Assign3
    They are connected in Series.
    Make sure all the steps are connected properly.
    I executed the workflow and the two fields in the table got the assigned values as the result of the workflow.
    Check the version of your Data Manager. The DataManager I used to test this is of version 5.5.34.26.
    A single workflow should suffice for your requirements.
    However, there is a workaround for this.
    You create 5 workflows each with a single assingment step.
    For the <b>Stop Step</b> in the Workflow you have <b>Launch</b> Property.
    In this case, for workflow1 you set the launch property to Workflow2.
    For workflow2 set the launch property as workflow3.
    This way you are calling separate workflows sequentially.

    If the analyst didn't executed the wi, I have to re-schedule it to his supervisor, and if the manager didn't executed its wi, re-schedule it to his manager.
    how can I do that ?

    Hi Glauco
    It's a bit difficult to explain in words, but simple once you get the hang of it.
    If you take a look at a dialog workflow task, you will see one tab labeled "Latest End".  In this tab you can schedule the task to automatically send a message to someone when it has not been completed after a certain amount of time (the deadline).  However, the current agent keeps the work item even if the deadline has passed.  This is called simple deadline monitoring.
    For extended deadline monitoring, you can not only schedule a message, but prompt the workflow to take action.  I don't know exactly how to configure it by hand, but you can find a wizard for creating the extended steps in the Workflow Builder.  The wizard can be found under the Workflow Wizards section of SWDD, on the lower-left hand side of the screen.  You can select this tab the same way you change from viewing the workflow containers to "Step Types that can be inserted" tab.
    I hope I was a bit clearer this time.
    Regards.
